So, here goes the attempt to catalogue madness of the warp etheric kind.

As per the title, I've decided that being out of the main game proper since a few "if extraneous" editions. This would be a good time to visit the Codex[ices] that drew me into the hobby. And since none of this miniature malarky is tied to a rule system [till it all goes digital! ] it's free-for-all mayhem!

Entries are going to be organized by Unit types and following Codex Eye of Terror and CSM 3.5/Imperial Guard 4th [3rd] with some Imperial Armour thrown in.

Let's start off with Traitor Guard.

More to come.

Some Gibbering Hordes [Troops - Count as Nurglings]

Had a lot of fun just making various mutations theme to each of the Chaos gods. More on these later.

Followed by Chaos Spawn [Heavy Support]

Deep Madness the Boardgame, very good selection of monsters in there. These will add some good wound soaking units to the army.

Chaos Spawn - Wave 2

Went with two Venom-esque Spawn lead by a cross between a Brainbug and something Cthulhu. Least that's what these Deep Madness mini's remind me of.
Running two 3 Spawn squads will give great flexibility in Zone Mortalis type games. I plan to do a few batreps with my Mortalis/Battle Systems terrain.

Arch Heretics [HQ as Chaos Lieutenant/Sorcerers]

Nephar, Diabolus the Sorcerer (Tzeentchian)
Braakar, Disciple of Wrath (Slaaneshi)
Zakaar, Champion of Khorne (Khornate)

Braakar is weilding a might Kai Gun, MofS, Daemonic Resilience and Essence. Plus a Melta Bomb. Haven't attached what I'm thinking of making yet.
Picture a very fancy brass[gold]-trimmed Melta Bomb with a face stretched over it... or maybe.. just jewel encrusted?

Nephar has a Power [sacrificial dagger] and MoT and some psychic powers. [Note: sculpt a Pwr Wpn node!]

Zakaar, besides his amazing blue-tac feet skill, is a powerful Khornate Lt. An Axe of Khorne, MoK [Blood Frenzy/FnP]. He's got Daemonic Essence, Daemonic Strength and Daemonic Resilience. The visual aid here is his 40mm Base.

The 40mm base signifies +1W, +1 Str and +1 Toughness. A 32mm [new Marine] base is +1 T and +1W, whilst the 25mm base is just regular statline Arch Heretic.

Work in progress sorting, sorting... 5am.

Escaped prisoners, human Raiders???

Muties and Demons.

15 man compulsory Mutie squad.

What is that Zakaar miniature originally from? I bought one ages ago because I liked the way it looked but can’t remember what it was called or if it was from a movie, a different game system, etc.

A Mutant Chronicles, Target Games Dark Legion Nepharite. Warzone: Mutant Chronicles is such a guilty pleasure of mine.

Thanks. I love using alternate miniatures and GW stuff in other games too!

I do indeed!

Next up are the Sump Beasts, Ogryn workers who work the filth covered sumps of the underhive drainage system.
After being exposed to the touch of Chaos, particularly the Nurgle kind. Have mutated into that which is indistinguishable from the grime and filth of their duties.

Next, Apostate Preacher and Thrall. Preaching Nurgle's message throughout the lower hives.

Enjoying getting on this at the ground floor. Some really awesome model choices for what I think was a stellar codex. The lost and the damned was such a great idea that I wish had survived the edition creep.

Really enjoying what you are putting together.

Glad you like it! Chaos is a very fun army to model for, as fun as Orks IMO.

Thanks! And yeah, it would have been interesting to see where the lost and Damned went after Codex: Eye of Terror. Trucks? Flyers? Big Mutant kits or conversion parts for Warhammer Fantasy Ogres and Chaos? It could have been quite wild.

Cap'n Facebeard wrote:The last one is me getting that pre-work coffee.

You don't need it, you WANT it.

Now, for some Horrors. Elites choice Daemon Packs!

The big lad counts as a Flamer, the rest are Horrors.

Imititation of Life 3D, why yes! Mutant squad, Troops choice.

These guys mean business, and will be in a squad of 15 [Compulsory choice]

Flood anyone?

These just might count as Flamer armed mutants. The idea is they fall down and burst towards the enemy like a Flood Popcorn!

Spawn, Wave 3!

Wrath of Kings is providing this spikey beast.

Until next time!

Friday productive day? Now to the task of tracking down some 28mm bases. [Great for slightly bigger lads but still Toughness 3(4)]

Sometimes you gotta have a snack mid-battle!

A swole Tzeentchian-birdman, a muscle beach gorpse-grinder and blue-tac neck is better than no neck.

Artsy...

Several [p]blogs on here and around the web have inspired me over the years. Pickled cabbage anyone?*
More Mutants. Some come from fighting pits, others from work camps/prison labor, it's a whole rabble. Once painting starts, items like orange jumpsuits, boilersuits and shackles will help identify each.

Plugging away at the Mutant troops in the background and zenith priming the human elements.

Marauder Mercenary Boss, simple armament, low points cost.

I call this lad, Snake. Definitely could pass as a Marbo.

A good example of Grey Seer zenith [right hand] vs Skull White [in Winter no less!] on the left hand side

Thankfully the speckling is only visual. Shields anyone?

Grenade Launcher specialist and squad. Was aiming for Khanak Skulltakers meets Heavy Metal 2000.

Traitor Guard squad, quite a mix so far.

Vraks Guard, these kits were such an awesome set of conversion parts.

Lovely stuff some excellent proxies and an army I wish they'd kept in the game.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Indeed! I'm very tempted to go with mustard yellow for the Vraks elements, but they also look fantastic in blood red fatigues... /struggle

Llamahead wrote:Lovely stuff some excellent proxies and an army I wish they'd kept in the game.

The Lost and the Damned are THE most common bad guys. It's a force that could be given all sorts of model kits if GW gave them a turn.
Back when as a Teenager, I used to mix up 'proxies' with 'count as'. GW does a good job in enforcing 'use this model' on young players.
This meant a lot of builds and tactics were simply not financially available in my gaming group.

Now for some Traitor Guard!

Some Blackstone Traitor Guard, definitely a different scale than Catachan, Cadian, Marauders, Mantic. Won't be adding anymore of these guys.

Traitor Commissar [or item thief?], Feral-minder and Butcher.

Forget to mention, Wargames Atlantic 'The Damned' in there as well.

Well, it's been a bit.

First up is some Big Muties, but I have to check what these actually are supposed to be?
I think they are going to be used as +1 Str Mutant Troops.

They have all sorts of crude impaled weapons and sharp objects to work with.

A Renegade Ogryn will round out the WIP Big Muties unit, as a FOUR wound boss!

As the force expands, into the other Chaos gods. Units like Plague Toads will make their way. [these will paint up nicely with just washes!)

Speaking of Daemons, a Fast Attack choice is Demonic Beasts. As Chaos Furies we have these tentacled monsters!

Plus more Mutants for the Troops choices, all in all there will be about 3 15-man compulsory squads with flamers and heavy stubbers.

Bolstering up the HQ slots are these Rogue Psykers, which could be aligned either way to be honest.

Later....

It's been a few, moving again! But I did after near 10 months finally manage to get in a game against.. myself. Ah, convenience.

Rather than use an army from 4th Edition that know of, I decided to get into the 3rd Ed Daemonhunters Codex! My, what a book.

Here are my Deathcult Assassins, one's a Xenos for sure! OR are they?

For now a teaser of the 1050 point game of LatD vs Daemonhunters with a mish-mash of 4th,5th and 6th Edition rules.
It took many readings when I encountered contradictions and basic questions like "So, ten guys got 3 casualties, they rolled a 12... ran some 14" of the table??"

Right, buy Purity seals, it's only 5 points. Suffice, this game has really let me sharpen up my armylist knowledge and that I need to re-read the 6th Edition BRB.**

*I completely forgot Overwatch... probably won't use it with cordial opponents.**
