My brother works for Cmon and has been working on the game, I could probably start applying Indian arm burns, or try beating it out of him but that could get him in trouble with his boss. He's been exceedingly tight lipped on it so I have nothing useful yet, but he says he absolutely loves the game. We have pretty similar game interests so if he's excited chances are it's a really solid game. Outside that I can't get a peep out of him. :( Definitely going to keep my eyes and ears open and see if I can wrangle up helpful info, and hopefully a demo if it's being offered.

Looks really nice.

Then again so did Sedition Wars and I haven't played a single game of that. : /

At the very least see if you can get an answer to that whole card game issue!

I thought we collectively agreed to never mention "that" game, ever.

Fantastic bases though.

Darn.

Would've been nice to have lots of bugs besides the ones that Mantic is sending me with Mars Attacks..

Any ETA on when they're going to drop this? I would imagine this will be their next project, with Z3 following (since all we're seeing out of CMON is Xenoshyft).

The comment section will be a glorious cesspool of whining, demanding of figures, and the white knights who stand ready to defend CMON's good name and decision to do something different.

Still curious to see how this turns out.

A card game is slightly disappointing- and there also is a lot more competition out there for them as well. Will it be a deckbuilder or no idea yet? That seems to be the most likely scenario.

A card game played with miniatures?

Actually a card game (a true card game, one with no board) would be relatively inexpensive for them to make and ship I would imagine.

But like you guys said, there's a TON of competition in the card market. Not to say that there isn't in the miniature field either...

There is quite a bit of competition in miniatures, but not even close to card games and the money some of them pull in. Especially if you include CCGs. Miniatures more than likely don't even come close.

Hey there! I was just looking around to see what people were saying about Xenoshyft and I saw this thread. I figured I would make an account here because it makes me feel awesome to see the excitement about my game!

Right, I supposed I should have mentioned that I am Keren Philosophales, and I am the original creator of this game :3
I made it in college and when I got in touch with CMON when I worked for them over them summer last year, and sold them my game. I worked with Leif, he mentioned his brother and it's cool to see the other Paulson posting about this :3

Anyway, I am not sure how much I am allowed to say about this, I haven't asked CMON so I won't say much, but I feel confident that it's OK for me to let you know there are no minis of any sort - BUT - that doesn't mean you mini guys aren't going to like this!

I have been playing 40k since I was 10 (15 years now), and definitely I think if you like sci-fi, if you like kick ass soldiers fighting bugs, you will like this game. When I was designing it, I tried to make sure the gameplay reflected the aesthetic. I am an artist as well as a designer, and so I always try to combine the two when I can. Letting design inform art, and art influence design. I have been kept in the loop on some of the changes Mike&friends have made since I sold the game and left CMON, and I can say they kept with that idea pretty well.

It is indeed co-op, since I saw that on here I think I can confirm that without getting in trouble. I saw someone say that there was nothing original here, and though I can't say what makes it original (it's super secret), I think when CMON pulls the veil back completely, you will agree the game does some new things in a fun way.

I hope you mini guys don't write this off just because of a lack of plastic fun things to play with, I would urge you to continue tracking this and see what the game is about, because I think you'll be pleasantly surprised, and maybe even want to give it a try.

Here's hoping I didn't overstep my bounds for info given out (and since I only really confirmed stuff that was already floating around out there, I think I am ok).

Dude, that's perfect, and welcome! I'm sure I'll get a chance to check out the game at Expo next month (I was supposed to at Adepticon, but 'life' got in the way) so anything you can offer is super great.

Welcome to Dakka Dakka!

I'm interested in learning more about this game.

The two CMON guys I spoke to about it at Adepticon were VERY excited about it!

I'm liking all the enthusiasm this game seems to be bringing out...

but I still wish some of those designs were going to be done up in plastic.

Maybe once the game is a big hit....

I'm more than willing to give this a fair shake though!

They seem to be slowly teasing this but I wonder where it fits in their schedule now as Dogs of War seems to be nearly ready to launch (probably next ) and Zc Season 3 is in June.

They just sent out a newsletter about that, Alpharius, which you can see here:

http://us1.campaign-archive1.com/?u=9bed8caa2b0dd6276f6ef6e6e&id=a5de3867e4&e=95c97027b0

Personally, it just looks like a pretty generic board game to me and isn't really aimed at the wargaming market... not really giving it a second look.

Xenoshyft, on the other hand, I will be watching closely, miniatures or no miniatures

Odd. I didn't get that newsletter, and I usually receive them all.

Dogs of War is not my cup of tea, but it's interesting to see CMON branching into other gaming areas.

For now, like RiTides, I'll be keeping my CMON radar focused on Xenoshyft or any other mini related games they have in the pipeline.

Some spoilers from the facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/xenoshyft) :

“The Hive”, as the survey crews have dubbed them, are only the latest in enemies that the NorTec Military has faced. Each planet that has been saturated with Xenosathem brings its own host of hostile, indigenous, xenomorphs for us to deal with, and this one is no different.

Remember when issuing the deployment orders that our loyal soldiers are like any other resource we gather- there is an acceptable loss/gain ratio that must be cross-referenced with the bottom line.

I see Mr. Black has descended into our hive of scum and villainy. Excellent.

Maybe we can get some pictures of the Hadross 3rd infantry unit sculpts out of him while he's here!

Any ETA on Xenoshyft other than "soon?" Summer? Fall? In 9 days or so?

I'll just go ahead and ask. Any chance we might see some sort of plastic bling to go with this game?

Why is that worm eating the Sedition Wars guys?

Seriously, though, I hope there's an art book or some other collection, because I am enjoying it all.

I wrote it off when I saw that CMON was involved unfortunately, minis or not. I backed Sedition Wars, and I'm still frustrated about the complete mess that was.

A Guillotine Games interview from a couple weeks back (was in French). It's definitely Q2 and may make end of May but likely to be June.

It would appear that “The Hive” may have at one point been low-level insectoids or other various scavenger species before the induction of Xenosathem into their ecosystem. Once this occurred, as is usual with prolonged exposure to the raw material, their aggression, size, and metabolism increased.

This, coupled with a unique interspecies diversity (It seems each sub-species has evolved to fill a specific role within the colony) has led to a swift evolution into a new form of apex predator.

Though initial reports are still inconclusive, the survey crew has indeed found some shocking pieces of evidence that point toward advanced life having existing on the planet before The Hive’s exposure to the crystals.

Thanks for the info "MrBlack" of CMON

I'm not super into gore so not totally enthused to see the good guys getting munched on but I imagine for others it is a refreshing change of pace from their always miraculously surviving against the odds. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this.
