In the background/drying times I've been building my Ramshackle stuff too..here is a WiP shot of my command Robot (Bonehead), 'Vince the Pince' (cookies if you get the reference). I've improvised the back pack and both arms as he was an extra thrown in with my Ramshackle order...more on these guys soon as they are winging their way to the front of the queue...

I decided to add a bit of wrapped wire to join his pincer to the little ammo drum thingy on the weapon mount I'm using as a arm.



Just a simple little thing (and not terribly well implemented) but adds a bit of interest..

More on these guys soon. I got a bit further with some other stuff too, more on that as well. I like how these guys are looking and and I'm interested to see how they do in the field. A squad of 7 put out 21 STR5 shots before a charge, or indeed overwatch, then 29 STR5 attacks in HtH (not including any 'Hammer of Wrath' attacks, so possibly another 7). Led by Yarrick too they should be a pretty scary counter assault unit (probably in Apocalypse only mind, that's a very un-IG points cost for a single unit). I would really like to try and do another big IG game soon, there isn't tons of stuff to do and my amended everything list is about 5800 now. Be great to field it all (possibly with a secondary commander), have to see if it will ever be possible.

I was thinking of setting them to kill anyone not wearing Gray or Blue, should be fine...

Hydra is pretty much built, added a little crewman and a spare ammo thing that was a freebie extra off Ramshackle..



Here's the dude, I need to make a GS hand to hold his controller as I'm out of that hand. The head is the one with a single targeter thing over one eye and will be yellow to be like ballistic glasses of real armies and also the same as my other robot controllers who pilot my Rapiers (lascannon battery)..

Also thinking about adding a pintle mounted HB as the Hydra should have a hull mounted one...



Alternatively I also considered just having a bipod HB just lying around..not sure about these, I think I'm leaning towards just not bothering, if I had another Valkyrie door gun it might be a bit better as they are smaller and have an integral ammo hopper but these heavy weapon team ones are huge. Let me know what you think..

Hiya! I've not had a lot of spare time recently, this time of year is really hard too. Also the Wood Elves DLC for Warhammer Total War happened to I had to complete that twice before I could do anything else. I have done a little more on the 'bots but I did finish my Primaris:

I wanted the staff to look coppery as I imagine it being super conductive to transmit his psychic fury to smite the foe, or just earth away a potential perils..

I'm pleased with how he came out and look forward to fielding him sometime. This little puppy finishes my reorganised Infantry company (just need to do a little bit of renumbering) so that's cool. There's not tons left for the IG now; the robots, the Hydra, a few Ratlings and Yarrick. Oh and the new Russ. Going into the Xmas sector now so updates will probably be a bit infrequent as I will be away for the festive period, hopefully do some more on the robots before then.

There's a rule that if they peril with a commissar in the same squad, the Commissar shots them immediately and no roll on perils table is made. Gotta love the IG.

Yes I'd like to do that, need to get a bit of time, after being pretty good, my boy got ill again last night (he's ok really) so school tomorrow and the next day (his last full days at nursery this year) are in question. If he goes I might be able to get the toys out....

Bam, Infantry company. MKII what's more. That's 137 of the little blighters. I've revised it form the previous incarnation so that the 2 flanking platoons (the Shooty ones) have 2 heavy weapon teams each (total of 4) instead of each platoon having 1 total of 3). The middle platoon (the Assaulty one) has been reinforced instead with a 20 man conscript squad and the recently completed engineers. I've also added a Commissar lord, Priest and Primaris to give a strong support team to keep them all in line.



Company Command Squad, first debuted on page 1 of this blog back in December 2010! (jesus). They are packing a banner, plasma, power weapon and a Master of Ordnance (far left). The Captain is a conversion using a Rogue trader torso and legs (one piece).



Platoon No.3, the first shooty one, has a counter attack PCS ready to give them the good news with flamer, melta and fist!



Platoon heavies, recently completed rockets and converted 'Rapiers' as a lascannon battery.



Platoon No.4, the assaulty one (such as it is). Cheap PCS with just 2 grenade launchers and a power weapon for basic long ranged support. The 20 men behind have 2 flamers (and all have bayonets fitted).



The semi recent conscripts (x20 and again with stabbers) and recent engineers (special weapons squad) with plasma, melta and demo charge (for LULZ)..also the CCS's command Chimera he leads (hides) in.



Platoon No.5, other shooty one..equipped the same as the other...



Shooty platoons both have 2 x autocannon and 2 x grenade launchers..



Platoon heavies have mortars and more rockets..



Scary Commissars, all the 20 man regulars blob up and get a Commy, shooty blobs get a basic Commy with power weapon (axe) and assaulty one gets the Lord.



The Astropath (on the left, an old Rogue Trader era guy) goes in the CCS (with the Master of Ordnance), the Primaris and Priest go with the 20 Conscripts to make them surprisingly nasty in assault (for Guard).



MMMMMmmmmm serried ranks.....

This gives 2 20 man blobs that basically won't run away who can hold objectives and shoot with a lot of satellite heavies to even the odds. The are 2 more squads of 20 who can either take the fight to the filthy Xenos/Heretics (delete as appropriate) or wait in counter assault positions (and are even less likely to rout than the shooty ones). The 4 various command squads can float about and fill gaps etc and issue 5 orders a turn. I'm pretty pleased with this formation and look forward to fielding this new and improved variant. Surprisingly this whole lot, including all those heroes weighs in at just over 1500 points! They are only lightly equipped, they are a PDF unit after all, and not paying for 3 plasmas a unit saves a lot of points.

This is only my Company I've attendant armour and support units for it all, the total points value of everything is about 5800 now.

Thanks, Yep I'm not supposed to getting anything else for them, then I accidentally bought those robots (and Hydra). Really I should be ploughing on with Marine stuff, I've a lot of that sat about waiting for love but the IG muse has me at the mo.

That's an impressive collection of tyranid food/ultramar PDF. I commend your patience cranking out so many infantry models!

Your IG looks great, all ranked up like that. How long did it take to get to that point?

The blog started back in 2010.
I know he'd been working on them before that.
It's not even a model per week, if he didn't spend so much time sipping martinis on the beach and if his private jet was a smoother ride I'm sure he would have got a lot more done.

Who can find a smoother Lear Jet?, there was one that was better for stability but it clashed with the curtains (drapes for the Yanks) *lights cigar off burning Da Vinci sketch*.

Yes I started this army around early-mid '10 but have done more stuff than just this company. The IG is nearly all done, at about 5500 painted, the SM (who I restarted a bit before doing the IG) have advanced significantly and, the ginger step child of an army, my Medieval HYW English happened too. I also didn't paint anything for about a year when everything was too gakky. It's been fun watching the IG expand, back when we had more time we'd (Alex and I) try and do an APOC game every year or so and use our expanded forces. They were all BatRep'd and can be found if you're bothered, I think we managed 3 but have been toying with the idea of another sometime.



I did manage a bit more on these dudes..



Look at the amazing gloss on those heads, it's just straight Vallejo black.



Blurry snap here sorry. I'm not sure if I should do the pincer in hazard stripes or not, any thoughts/feelings/dreams accepted into the decision making process.

So they are ticking along, painting all 7 at once apparently so it's slow(er) going even though I'm doing a quick to paint recipe. Hope to squeeze in a bit more before the Xmas shut down.

On a serious note there is a lot in the inbox for the SM. It's a bit daunting. However there is some really cool projects and kits I do feel a bit enthused to start so that's a plus. I think being so near clearing the IG pending stuff is acting as an incentive to power through.



So this appears to have materialised from the warp (early Xmas pressie), not had much time to go over it yet and the thread on DakDak was so full of Sisters player's bile I could never find out much ahead of time. I like it, it was promised in 2nd ed and I was up for it then. It gives me rules for Assassins and Inquisitors for the IG and Deathwatch for the SM, the other stuff might come up eventually too.

No painting last night and I'm off on Wednesday for 10 days or so over Xmas so we'll see if I can squeeze any hot brush action in.

That looks like a fun little book. Tons of little odds and ends to add to your army. I’ve got enough of the units in it collecting dust, I almost grabbed it myself yesterday. Planning on grabbing any new little units out of it for your forces?

I don't think I'll be getting anything more to add specifically from this book, I've enough of the units already to justify it and it's a pretty book to just own as well. There are some WTF moments with it, like why include 'Aeronautica' as a faction when it's just Valks and Fleet Liaison blokes (not even Vendettas) but not include something like Knights, even as just a basic entry (not to invalidate the Knight book, Stormtroopers also fit into this category). There may be some mileage in using things like my Psykers as the unit from this book instead in like an APOC game too.
