Hi Guys,
since last X-Mas I'm slowly building an Eldar Force so that I can start playing when the new Codex finally comes out. (I was hoping for it in about 4 weeks or so, but apparently, the "Orctober" is next)
okay, the first thin I did where a few Guardians and a Warlock, which I have posted before

after that came a box Rangers, a Vyper and Maugan Ra, who was lying around somewhere

after that I got a swooping hawk exarch

after that I painted the Falcon from my Battleforce and yesterday I bought the last 3rd edition Reapers. guess I'll have to mailorder the rest

actually, I'm quite happy how the colors turned out, altough maybe the drybrushing looks a bit dirty on the pictures. I can't wait to paint some of the elite aspect warriors, but for now, I need more Guardians

btw. I googled for Eldar language and found some stuff which I made the name out of.

Very striking color scheme, I dig it. The swooping hawk and the falcon are my two favorites, especially with the stark black-lining on the falcon. Nice work all around!

... now a comment/criticism: the pics seem to make your white look pretty thick / not real uniform in color. I don't know if this is because of a) the pics b) that the white is actually a marbled color with gray or c) your white needs a little thining or something. I have a load of trouble with painting large patches of white on my Chaos marines, so I feel you there if it's c).

All the same, some good work, and I like that you're so eager to paint more and random stuff. Luck!

Your models need some depth.

BatC: Do you mean shading? In some of the pics there seems to be some there,
but maybe you could clarify where you're looking for it. I imagine the flash washed
out some of it.

I like them. I don't know if the flash washed out the shading of the Ranger's robes...but you might wish to build up from a sand color to white (it'll help tie in to the brown greaves) so it won't seem unfinished.

Malfred, BC was definately talking about the depth of thought that went into the commentary that accompanied the pics, or mabe he wants the models to get thicker and gain "Depth". Or perhaps the models should be more complex, more serious, contain more insight, or be more numerous. Atleast those are the applicible definitions of depth I can think of.

I have been the brunt of nonproductive, indescript, negative commentary about my painting, and speaking from personal experience there is no reasion to do it. If your going to comment, be specific, productive, and try not to be so terse. Its not like this is 40K YMTK.

Anyway, I like most of the models. I think the basing on most of the models could be cleaned up, The white on the falcon looks alittle patchy, I dont know if that is what you were going for. I like the Maugan Ra, and the red effect you get on most of your armor, but on some of the guardians armor it looks like it needs to be cleaned up. BTW I really like the Swooping Hawk Exarch.

thanks for the comments.
the white on the armor is supposed to look that way. I tried to get a bone-effect, starting with Komando Khaki, and after that, drybrushing with bleached bone and skull white. and I'm pretty happy how it turned out on the Falcon

for the ranger coats and the Falcon wings I used a grey/white mix, drybrushed with white.

the ranger coats actually do have depths, you just can't see it, because of the flash. I'm still trying to get my new camera work the way I want.

the bases are just white paint with snow flocked over it, but it gives a good contrast to the black/red armor.

there are only two things I'm worried about now
1) which colours am I going to use on Striking Scorpions
2) how do I make a snow-world base for a creature which is made of lava.

Nice color scheme the white's a little thin though.

I agree on the white. If you want a nicer coat of white try base coating with shadow grey (the old really light grey gw used to sell in the original pop-top bottles).

The white looks like it has been put on straight over the black.
