I do quite like the look of the Wraithknight, but when I saw the price, I was shocked. I think I actually said "holy sh**" out loud. Which was exactly what happened when I saw the price on the Slaughterbrute.

Even more reason to support Mark. I honestly thought maybe Eldar would be a neat army to revist, since they were (basically) my first ever, back in 2nd ed. days (when I was a young lad). Looks like, due to insane prices, that ain't gonna happen. Makes me kinda sad.

Get on them Shadokesh Mark! You're our only hope (Obi Mark Kenobi)

Agreed. Ive always had a thing for Eldar, as well as Tau. Im not excited about the Tau releases, but I do like the new Eldar stuff. However, as you mentioned the prices are insane.

As far as the Shadokesh...Mark, do you think we can get some concepts, even if rough, of the Shadokesh stuff? I know I might be more excited for them if I saw some of the vehicles and such you have in mind for them. Might help get some others fired up as well.

The paint scheme does make me wonder if Mark has gone through and done some digital paint jobs of various leviathan "aces" in a style reminiscent of some of the famous aces; would seem to fit the overall theme of the Iron Core universe pretty well. It'd look neat and would make for good fluff for the eventual Iron Core rulebook, though I'm sure he's got 384,294,732 more important things to be doing for the Eisernkern. Just thinking/typing out loud there.

The Wraithknight is a model I really want to like, but I just can't at $115. For $5 more I can get the much bulkier (meaning more material for the money), much more dynamic Crusader. The base kit doesn't have all the cool bells and whistles that we got on the KS, so there's more options in the box with GW, but it just rings a bit hollow to me as I don't think there will be too much in the way of posing options for them outside of the arms.

I'm also interested in the Shadokesh, and will almost assuredly get at least some to do a proper Iron Core match-up, but probably not to the same degree as I was buying the Eisenkern. The Protectorate might get me to part with some cash for some particularly nice tanks, but I think Eisenkern was the high-water mark for me on this universe. Granted, 2 Leviathans and 200 troops between the two KSes is not exactly a small number; never mind Wave 3's goodies...

I honestly think I'll be happy with Shadokesh, then maybe many years down the line with the French/English faction, but only as a small force. I would love to see the Mortis remain a staunchly Eisenkern leviathan, but as hinted in the background, if we could use Crusaders in other armies (plus it would give Mark some time to breathe, although by that time he'd better have had the chance to hire someone else).

Crusaders and Mortis' are huge, and awesome. That being said, I want to just remind everyone of THIS bit of info from the DFG site:

These vehicles use lighter materials in their construction, only the four and six legged walkers will be equipped with heavier armor protection.

So, just how big are THOSE monsters going to (someday) be?

15mm only. Has to be. Honestly, you just can't play that at 28mm anymore.

Interestingly, though, the text doesn't say "bigger"...just that heavier armoring is reserved for quads and up... so, we'll see.

But as someone who's always liked an 8x6 table, I say bring 'em on in 28mm.

Yeah, but a quad will have a substantially bigger footprint at the same rough size;,that 160mm base is fething huge, anything over that is not doable IMO. Oh well, mark has a habit of pulling amazing gak out of his hat

A quad walker doesn't really need a base... which drastically reduces the footprint, and makes the thing easier to manoeuvre around the table.

True. Makes it a bastard to measure ranges to and from IMO but good point.

While we're on the subjuct of bases, has anyone based their mules? Getting ready to assemble mine, and the legs seem awfully fiddly to support the whole thing during regular gameplay.

I was going to base mine with a rod in the middle. They are fiddly for sure.

I based them on good ol' bevel-edged 40mm bases. works fine.

Great. As if I needed more reason to wish I'd been able to afford more than two APCs.

I thought I would pass along some shots of the Eisenkern APC. When last you saw the design it was pretty much a roughed in hull, the final version received more details inside and out.

This kit will feature see through window sections so that you may view the interior, movable quad ‘Scorpion’ weapons system that provides enough arc, azimuth and elevation to clear unwanted guests from your doorstep. Linked and movable front suspension, doors and hatches that you may leave open or closed (Due to the scale I could not create full working hinges on the smaller doors and hatches, you may need to decide if you want to glue the smaller doors in the open or closed position, the larger rear hatch has full hinges). The Kickstarter backers will receive the full crew compliment, 10 riflemen, driver and gunner. I won’t know if we can include the ten riflemen in the general release until we know how many sprues we will need to complete the kit.

I was able to shrink the vehicle down a bit from the original render but it is still a BEAST! It is about a foot taller than the modern day Stryker APC but considerable wider and longer. Roughly 3 meters tall, 4.97 meter wide and 10.15 meters long. You won’t be parking this monster in a tight space without smashing a few bumpers.

This vehicle is as heavily armored as a main battle tank, weighing in at over 70 tons in rides on six huge solid tires, each with an independent drive system that allows this vehicle to spin in place, in the same manner as its tracked brethren.

The nose section is taken up by the reactor, this is the same full size reactor found on the Leviathan Crusader and Mortis, allowing the APC indefinite range and access to impressive speed… The reactor in this vehicle is capable of recharging equipment and the super capacitors found on lighter vehicles and Leviathan, in this way, the ‘Keilerkopf’ becomes a central part of any forward unit’s logistics. Everything you need for planetary conquest.

Even with its monster size, the interior is still a bit cramped, eight riflemen are seated in the rear with just enough room for a trooper to stand, equip and egress. Two riflemen take up the ‘shotgun positions on either side of the APC’s driver and gunner and would likely use the side doors when possible.

I think the only thing it needs is some kind of front grill piece.. like a Chrysler 300 or a GMC Terrain

Armored louvers, something that visually resembles the front end of an MRAP, perhaps, but not something that looks as vulnerable as a civilian vehicle's grill.

I'll be getting more than a few, too...but all but two will be from retailers rather than the KS, sadly.

Still, I'll have my 4 full-sized Levis and hordes of all kinds of infantry to comfort me.

Yeah, that's all sorts of awesome, right there. Agree on the call for a grill, or some sort of detailing at least on that front panel.

Not all armored vehicles had a massive grill. Especially ww2 era. And if its some sort of reactor, a grill may not even make sense.

I'd rather have No grill then an ugly one. Grills are tough to get right.

Agreed. I'm just saying that IF it gets a grill, it needs to look super rugged/armored, not like a vulnerable spot.

Yeah, I love it! That's where the bulk of my pledge is, too

Unfortunately, they're in wave 3! I am trying not to think about it

RiTides and Tannhauser42 are two of my favorite people in the thread right now; they remind me that even if I did go a bit crazy with DFG, at least I'm not alone.

This does not make the waiting easier though. Hurry WGF! We need the awesome! We NEEDS it!

I wish I'd had the chance to pledge period. I come back to the hobby after a few years of GW boredom to miss this BY DAYS.

Hence my 'or other detail' comment. It's not that it needs a grill to be mechanically sound... it just looks a little odd with the big, featureless front plate.

It is, however, the perfect place for a unit to put emblems/graffiti/taunts to the enemy.

Now we need to get more details about the Shadokesh, so we can figure out what kind of insults an Eisenkern trooper would paint on there.
