Just received this update

Project Update #103: PLEASE READ! (IMPORTANT UPDATES).
Posted by Mark Mondragon
PLEASE UPDATE YOUR ADDRESS: (EVEN IF YOU CHOSE SHIP WHEN COMPLETE)

We are closing in on shipping stage 2. If you have an address correction this is your final notice for this stage please email dfg@wargamesfactory.net If not submitted by this weekend we cannot guarantee it will make it to your revised address.

Notes on stage 2 shipping:

We have no desire to repeat the issues we had in shipping to the Pacific Rim in stage 1. We will not be holding the product in an attempt to even up delivery dates, as soon as the product is ready to go it will be leaving China. We will not be shipping ground/sea, deliveries will be sent Air.

(CHANGE TO SHIPPING) STAGE 1 AND 2 SHIP WHEN COMPLETE:

You have all been so patient with me and we are so far behind that after some discussion we will be shipping stage one and two items to all those who selected ‘ship when complete’ We did not feel right having you wait until stage three is complete for items that are already behind schedule. I know that we have burnt a lot of good will, I apologize for the delay and hope that in some small way this may help those who have not had the joy of their first delivery from this Kickstarter

I will post another update as soon as the items are leaving the warehouse both here and in China.

All the best and thank you again,

-Mark

That's a nice CS move that'll cost them a bit. I didn't think they were still doing the pac rim shipping thing so that's great too.

Delays haven't bothered me tbh. Too much of a backlog to work through as is ; p

Yep, classy as always! Shame about the delays, but that really is nice.

...except that I still don't have anything in Wave 2 and already received my Wave 1 . So, doesn't help me, but I'm glad for those that it does

Great move and very welcome, once I check it over in my hands it's very likely I'll be needing to buy a couple more mini Levi's too.

I think in the long run, it'll make them much more than it costs. Goodwill is a wonderful thing, and DFG and it's kits are really still in their infancy.

Agreed! Too many campaigns lose customer goodwill / loyalty due to delays... moves like this are helping keep that goodwill and show that they still care about their customers despite delays that they haven't been able to avert (even with best efforts).

I for one, am quite upset with Mark. He ran his kick starter the month before I got back into the hobby.

The audacity.

Bet you're not upset enough that you'll skip the next DFG Kickstarter, when he's ready to do it.

Have we even seen pictures of the additional weapons yet? Not the renders but pictures of the actual sprues/bits?

Yeah, those are being flown over (rather than shipped by boat) by the end of the month according to Mark (afaik), and so are still in-process I believe.

********Estimated retail for the Mortis and mini Crusader is late Sept. The weapon Arms are expected to release in retail in early October. KS backers will obviously get them before this.**********

WAYYY Off topic but I got a good giggle from it.

Was GW inspired by my work for Khurasan miniatures? Perhaps, but likely not… However, as my catalog grows it will become almost impossible not to draw similarities between items I release and items GW releases at a later date… The opposite is equally true.
Have they seen my blog and those models? Someone in GW has, I am sure they have crawled over my blog with a fine tooth comb at some point.

What is my point? There is copyright infringement and then there is reaching, grasping at straws or as I call it a shotgun approach to legal bullying. Take your entire catalog of items that you have ‘created’ over twenty years, dissect each component and claim that they were all yours, developed in a complete vacuum of creativity and then use it and your treasure chest as a cudgel to bludgeon the competition. I understand and believe in the right of every company to defend its IP but I have seen time and time again some companies reach and grasp at straws in order to squash legitimate competition.

Am I GW bashing? No, I think they have done great things for the industry and brought a very niche hobby to the masses with style and creativity. I think you could however argue that GW over its many years has been ‘inspired’ by other contemporary sources and that they now claim these works as wholly theirs developed in a vacuum of creativity. I find these claims absurd.

Now having said all of that, we humans are hard wired to find visual similarities, it’s one of our survival traits but you can take it too far, seeing Jesus in a piece of toast is a prime example.

Any resemblance of this post to written English is purely coincidental.

Well, it's entirely possible I'll be taking their gun bits and mounting them to your APC chassis when it releases, so it's nice to see that you'd already thought of mounts for guns like that in past designs (pre-GW's release!)

Well, if Jesus in a piece of toast is your thing, then they've already got that covered.

Anyway, good to hear about the mini Crusaders will be hitting retail soon. As if I didn't already give Mark an entire paycheck of mine, I'll be picking some of those up at retail, too. Sadly, much of my money is in Wave 3 (15 of those beautiful APCs will be mine, oh yes, they will be mine).

Well since the gw price for marines is up AGAIN, I guess I'll have to send my money marks direction AGAIN. Thanks gw for making a decision between your best work in years

And mark's

So simple.

Did we get a rough idea of the mini leviathan prices are yet, because that would just be extra icing if it was less Han $78.00. I do realize the centurions are three to a box versus one of mark's, but really.

I really don't need anymore ammo when the tactical squads are going up to $40.00 for 10 guys ($4.00each for the math challenged), compared to the storm troopers of dream forge 20 guys for $42.00 ($2.10 each), plus tons more options, right sized, and the company isn't gak . Now if mark can just get the game mechanics worked out.....

Way OT, but Tac squads have been 10 to 45$ for a while in my neck of the woods.

The heavy troopers were a bit more expensive than the stormtroopers, but they are a shoe-in for count as Space Marines, honestly.

Now, since Wave 3 is 1)Big kits made small, 2)Female infantry 3)Heavy troopers 4)Big vehicle kit (which he's already working on)... maybe we can hope to get them before 2014?

Yeah, wave 3 is nearly as big for me as wave 1 was...maybe bigger, even without the full sized levis. But wave 2 is still going to be a lot of fun, too.

Still wish I'd had more funds available for more APCs, but that's what retail is for.
