Plus he attends school. Or teaches. Or both. Anyhoo, he's such a small indie producer, this feels very hipster. I'm going to up my pledge to 2 mediums later tonight.

Lol . After backing some of the "big name" campaigns I need to get back my Kickstarter hipster cred

That said, I thought I was a hipster backing Dreamforge, and look where that ended up! That's what's great about it- if enough people love an idea, it will take off. And if only some early adopters get on board, you have a more manageable campaign that is easier and faster to fulfill. Win-win

Don't think Dreamforge was ever anything too small - it had a major plastic manufacturer essentially taking a stake in the production behind the scenes, making it a large project even though there was a new manufacturer.

True, true- I guess I'm thinking more of when I was ordering his resin leviathans, pre-Kickstarter (which I got a bunch of). Resin can sometimes limit a campaign, but yield really high quality parts- which is why I think the 15mm models in this campaign are great (although I'm personally in for a 6mm model atm)

I sincerely hope we stay manageable on this one. I just noticed this morning he added the heavies... and I hope he can get them printed fast enough. Quads, though, I have doubts.

That Wolverine is darn sexy though...

I would like to get all of them!

One thing (among many) that I like about Paulson's designs is that there is faction continuity. For example, all the NorAm mechs have snub noses. Guy's an ace mecha designer.

Manchu... they're not Pokemon!

I'll show myself out...

Like RiTides says, the 15mm ones are nice, good chunks of resin that are easy to modify and pose. They have a heft that is fun to move around the table. I haven't been blasting too many buildings in my games, and you have to make sure you provide cover, otherwise missiles can really ruin your day, especially if you have many light mecha zooming around locking sensors on your slower units.

They are kind of cute, though. Pokeméchs. Gammalynx, I choose you!

Please tell me more about this game. I am miniatures-smitten and know nothing about Paulson's rules.

TGN review of miniatures from 10/13:

http://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/2013/10/10/79481/

Nice things are said about the miniatures. In his response, Jon summarized the game:
How I implement mecha within the game setting is that they are used for urban combat and other terrain that tanks have difficulty operating within. They would be very vulnerable on a battlefield environment with lots of open space, but their strength comes from an ability to operate in urban areas where tracked vehicles have difficulty. Being able to side step around obstacles or leap over things is a huge mobility advantage. Their larger profile is a weakness, but in cities (where most of the combat occurs) there is lots of vertical cover.

Holy cow, when did the Osprey get unlocked?

I doubt it is on the table anytime soon. Printing is expensive... ludicrously so for some reason. I would personally prefer printed rules (I love books, and they are way more convenient for me and my terrible eyesight), but it is just a lot easier to put out a PDF. And hey, you can always print it and put it in a binder.

I was wondering about printed rules too. Have you looked into Wargame Vault? They have some nice Print-on-demand options, I was going to use them for my rulebooks. You can order them in bulk for the Kickstarter, and then have players order direct from them in the future if you don't want to keep lots of books in stock.

I second (or third) the call for being able to do multiple $120 levels or making a more inclusive level with double the $120 level.

This would go great with the buildings from Burnedindesigns too. Looks really great.

I should rather have more mecha at this point than a physical rulebook. It would be good to have more people playing Mr. Paulson's rules with these kits and giving him some feedback before spending the time and money to get everything formatted, getting proofs together, thinking about binding. To me, that is a future KS. Right now, I'd like to see more mecha funded.

Pretty sure PG said you can already do this, though pointing it out on the page for clarity is probably a good idea.

Like, if someone goes in for $360, do they pay S&H on each pledge if they're international? Do they get extra stretch goals as well (so 6 of each, in this case)?

Just little things that couple probably use a little clarification.

I couldn't agree more. And besides, the kids today, they all have them tablets and stuff. Seriously, I just made my version of the rules a pdf and swipe through pages to get the info I want. One thing I did make myself though was a cheat-sheet, with the damage charts and weapon options, as well as the to-hit and piloting modifiers. That thing is Essential.

Hi guys, I've got school during the mornings so updates will typically be posted afternoons/evenings. (central US time)

So 6k is hit and we're well on the way to 7k. The osprey unlocked as did more micro armor options.

Next unlocks will be the card decks, which will have all the various stat cards, activations cards, pilots, and support stuff. It'll likely be a 60-80 card deck per faction. All of the cards are also included in the base pdf of the rules so you can always print stuff at home but the decks will be nice professionally printed stock.

After that we're onto the Blackfrost Cougar unlock.

Other stuff that's in the pipes are dice packs and magnet packs. A printed rulesbook will likely be an option but I want to make sure I have all the medium mechs covered first.

You can do a pledge level multiple times, for instance you can pledge twice for 2 combat patrols. They'd stack so you'd get a total of 4 copies of each stretch goal.

I would love to see all of these in 6mm. I love that scale (huge epic fan) and would enjoy getting all of them. Fingers crossed hoping to see all of these in 6mm.

I'm psyched that the Cougar is unlocked at $9k!

The cards might be really cool but I am wondering what kind of art, if any, they will display. Also, will we see a Blackfrost card deck?

Magnet packs are not a good unlockable add-on as people already have magnet sources. They're fine as a "free" stretch goal, however.

A book would be great but, and here I am prejudiced because of closely following RPG publishers, it seems like it will be a significant time drain on what is already a one-man operation.

This is where I am at currently (although I will surely add more for Blackfrost mecha as/when) so this is really good to read!

Ok, looking at the KS page I have some minor confusions.
1) At one point there was talk of the Blackfrost being some flavor of exclusive, is this true or are they going into general release with NorAm and Neo-Bloc?
2) What will each 6mm mech come with for weapons? A pre-set, one of choice or all 3 options?
3) Are there plans for 6mm Blackfrost and / or heavies?

And now for the crazy requests: Can you please change the mini-me level to being a 6mm medium of choice? The NorAm stuff is solid but the Neo-Bloc are where it's at IMHO.

I believe it's just one set for now, with options potentially unlocking later.

3) Are there plans for 6mm Blackfrost and / or heavies?

I sure hope so. Can't see myself snagging a pile of the 15mm mechs, but ~2 inch tall versions I could tuck into spare foam space or use as display pieces would be nice.

Far as I know, a KS creator cannot change a tier if there are people in it. He could close it (you can change the number of available slots) and create a new one that was "one of choice" (or just make another tier that did that, maybe at a slightly different price point), but I don't believe it's possible to change the current one.

It might be simpler to open up a 1$ pledge level as a catch-all category and people add as much funds as they need.
