Did the Ariadna Dog troopers come out or were they one of the releases pushed back due to the popularity of Icestorm?
They were the October releases. They should be released at the end of November-ish.

Spoiler:

Warstore has them for preorder: http://www.thewarstore.com/product99165.html

Thanks. I read in this thread that there was some sort of a delay and wasn't sure if they were a part of it. I've been googling them every few weeks and haven't seen any unboxing pics yet so figured I'd ask. They'd make for some interesting Space Wolf Wulfen models.

Those things are sweet! I got a pack a couple weeks ago. Large, imposing, and the damn teeth on the jaws are needle sharp!

They have 2 piece head/jaws and trying to put them on the bodies will result in fangs stuck into your fingertips and thumbs.

I would have loved to see what CB could have done with re-designed Exrah (and a Caskuda) vs. Evil Tohaa too though.

I really don't like the Tohaa - on every level.

I, too, dislike asparagus.

Presumably the units types are
3x Unidron Batroids-- Light Infantry
1x Umbraa Legate-- Heavy Infantry-- Shall we call him Darth Icky? ( A George Lucas joke. Sort of.)
1x Makaul Tracker Unit-- MSV2/3 and Medium Infantry with HMG?
1x Fractaa Drop Trooper-- AD:3 and Medium Infantry

At least this would be the current pattern for most vanilla starter boxes. The HMG seems a typo, most of the starters have sniper rifles, when they have such things. A look at the concept art would be helpful.

Without the unit profiles, who knows what to make of these. But they won't be in the US until January anyway, presumably after the N3 books arrive. Well, the downloads should be available anyway.

So are the combined army good and the tohaa baddies in the fluff?

Is there a wiki where I can read into it?

The fluff is in the rulebooks.

Who is good and who is bad isn't as simple as it sounds. The general gist of it right now is humanity is caught between two sides of an aeons long war for an alien artefact they have no idea they're sitting on, and one one side are being manipulated and on the other shot to peices.

That said, the CA are the core aggressors of the piece. They, or rather the EI, are the ones who came down on the human race like a mallet. The fluff paints them very clearly as a bad guy, desperate for power and knowledge and willing to do anything to get it.

Not that this means the Tohaa are good guys.

And it doesn't mean the humans are either, although they are the victims of that particular story.

And with Aleph, as with the Tohaa, who knows?

I think it is fairly strongly implied that at least one faction within the Tohaa is quite...nasty.

The Tohaa remind me of that one episode of SG1, they make contact with some hightech race and things are great, everyone is a politician or retired. They over coffee have a suspicion and after some checking the find out the birthrate is ridiculously low. Some projects are made and the entire human race would be dead by XX years. Don't invade, just show up and make everything better while slowly 'killing them with kindness'

Aww dang it now I kind of want some... Maybe just the 'evil' CA supporters will do though!

Tohaa were the ones that caused the wormhole collapse, trapped the Ariadnans, set back humanity's space travel, and then decided to intervene in an attempt to be heralded as heroes.

Tohaa are totally treacherous space Eldar/Elves.

I think the implication with the Tohaa is that either they have malicious intent or they are willing to use humanity as a meat shield to buy themselves more time. More likely the former so they are probably just the lesser of two evils but there is no fact in that. Saying we know for sure exactly what everyone's motivation is, is doing the fluff a huge disservice.

It's the same as saying that Aleph made illegal attacks on the Nomads despite the fact the fluff states that this is the Nomad perspective and no one else is buying it. Now I'm of the mind that Aleph did make those attacks which has very sinister consequences for the Human Sphere but I wouldn't say that Aleph are evil or that it definitely happened. It's also feasible that it's all Black Hand propaganda.

This definitely isn't news any more, haha.

Thanks to Paradiso we do know that the Tohaa see us as a danger to the Digesters and we know what to do to in that case. We are only allies until the CA is defeated, well if the CA is defeated.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.

I wanted actual space elves more than 'treacherous space asparagus". The new Combined are freaking FANTASTIC, and I am glad they went that route than try to make the alien bugs work, (seriously, ef the caskuda) but I want space elves :(

new morats are cool but i like the old better, but holy cow, man, these new Combined do all the right things to all my right places

Overall I find it a good thing, I wouldn't mind Crest of the Stars thrown in but it doesn't strike me as something that's needed or it would be a well fit. You could covert Morlocks, they already have space elf girl in there. Silly Bakunin.

I already have Eldar and Retribution for my interest so I'm also fine at that end.

It's nice to ditch the 'space fantasy' for something a bit more challenging and elegant in my opinion. Not so challenging as to massively restrict potential audience but enough to provide something different.

I still suspect that ALEPH is a lot more sinister than is let on. There's probably a lot of misinformation and coverups on ALEPH's part regarding the Combined Army and the EI. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that the EI's first contact was actually peaceful and ALEPH was the one to shoot first. After all, we know that the EI has peacefully integrated numerous alien species. Not everyone was sepsitorized. I'm hoping that when the story advances, we start either seeing human mercs working with the CA, or that the Nomads straight up join them.

Or that the EI's first contact was with Aleph, peaceful and secret.

Have you got the N3 rulebook on order Red Corsair? That's going to contain all of the basic background.

Otherwise IJW who posts on here has got a pretty good article on his website http://www.wargamingtrader.com/infinity/intro1, this hasn't yet been updated with Tohaa however.

Really the impression you get from Campaign Paradiso is that at least from the outside the Tohaa are trying to help humanity fight the Combined Army and the EI - this is the 'official' interpretation that the Human Sphere understands. However, there are lots of underlying hints throughout the Paradiso story that the Tohaa aren't the 'good guys' that they appear to be and might actually be manipulating events.

We really need a background discussion thread in that section of Dakka..

Given that the existing Ikadron Batroids are Remotes, I'm going to go with the Unidrons being Remotes as well.

If the Unidron are remotes, shouldn't be a hacker in the starter? Like in the generic ALEPH starter.

I don't know why they would be. Yu-Jing has the potential to field REM as HI. Rather sure EI can build up something even better. I expect them to be in 13 - 16 point category, would be kinda disappointed, if they don't have any BTS value.

Maybe the Umbra Legate has a hacker loadout? The Force-choke hand could actually be activating one of those nasty CA hacking protocols.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

+10pts for Crest of the Stars reference.
But I think they're more like Crest of the Stars in spirit, not so much in looks. I think just this once we can indeed dispense with space elves.

Absolutely. I would've been soured on the Tohaa as a faction and Infinity as a whole if they had been written as space elves. Infinity certainly isn't strict hard sci-fi, but it still isn't sci-fantasy. We've got more than enough of that already.

They are likely Ghost: Autotool Level 1 and the Umbra is Ghost Level X: Mnemonica so he can run the remotes.

Sure do, I haven't even played my O:IS but I had to preorder it Good to know it will have the fluff I desperately need catching up on.

Thanks for the answers and links!

The infinity subforums need work, I also think a batrep thread would be Ace!

We have had the discussion about the batrep forum several times and to sum it up for you, not enough players bother posting batreps here to need it.

The subforums just need to be utilized more by the players who tend to hid in this thread.
