Am I right or am I right?
I intend to stat out the whole lot and I wouldn't complain if some experienced DZ players would review the points costs and such.

Wouldn't the X-Com be just a straight reskinned Enforcers?

Mid and late war XCommies would have very similar base stats, yeah, but different weapons and a lot more fancy skills. Early war XCommies aren't nearly as tough as Enforcers, though.
Of course, then there's this guy.

Are you planning to buy the FFG X-Com game and do a TC with all of the models in it?

I don't have an iPhone, so I'm not sure if I can even play that thing. Getting it just for the handful of Xcom soldier minis doesn't seem like a good deal...
Thanks
Here's what I have right now. First playtest tonight.
This is all made to just slot straight into basic Deadzone as two new factions, no strategic component. Same as what Mars Attacks will do.

The FFG X-Com game just requires some sort of computer that can connect to the Internet - phones, tablets, laptops or desktops. Not that you should buy it just for a handful of miniatures, but you will actually be able to play it as a boardgame!

It's getting so hard to find good image hosting. Does it work now?
So we played a game yesterday and I had just awful dice luck. First shot of the game was the Cyberdisc one-shotting my Heavy and next turn it grenaded the Sniper, who died to falling damage.
Assault Guy struggled in melee with sectoids for several turns, which probably shouldn't happen. I still managed to eke out a draw by the time cards ran out, mostly thanks to the Tank/Cannon.
Lists:
Assault (Mid War, Titan Armour)
Sniper (Mid War, Grappling hook)
Heavy (Mid War)
Support (Mid War, Command Suite)
Tank/Cannon
Sectoid Commander
Sectoid Grunt
Sectoid Grunt
Floater Grunt
Floater Grunt
Cyberdisc
Drone
An idea for next time is playing lenght-wise with two mats, with fog of war and aliens deploying in small groups as XCOM advances.

Terrible stuff. Forge Fathers for Sectoids, freakin' Warp Spiders for Floaters, that kind of thing. Enforcers for Xcom, obviously, and the Relic Knights M8 for the tank, like on the card. I'll have to find some decent models eventually.

When trying to convince people to play Deadzone the first thing I do is ask them if they've played XCOM. If they have, I just say it's essentially the XCOM wargame.
What do you think of giving Chrysalids Brawler? Admittedly they have a lot of rules already so it might overpower them a bit. Also, maybe Berserkers could have something like the Plague rule that lets you deploy them at max aggression.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics. |

Yeah, right now Chryssalids are good against XCOM, who can't melee worth a damn, but they're probably too weak against other DZ factions.
The Berserker thing would make sense, but then they'd get no benefit from Blood Call, which the Mutons like to use so much in the video game... so I dunno. Certainly worth considering.

Ha ha, well, you wouldn't want to deprive the human player of that moment when a Muton uses Blood Call and you realise he had friends lurking just round the corner! And I didn't realise before that you'd given Chrysalids a 3+ Fight stat. Hmm, on second thoughts they probably are pretty good in melee...

Hmmm... I am more of a Classic XCom fan than I am of the current version, but....
Mars Attacks might provide minis for Cyberdisks and Ethereals. (Though the urge to go 'Ack! Ack! Ack!' when using the Martians as Ethereals....)
I don't think that the small Martian Saucers have been released yet, but I think that they would work for the Cyberdisks.
Zombie Enforcers for the victims of the Chrysalids....
The Auld Grump... it might be an idea to have some XCom specific scenarios - Terror Missions, Recovery Missions, etc..

I am pondering a mission system that would emulate the remake. Xcom would advance lengthwise over 2-3 DZ mats and a mob of aliens would be deployed every turn at the edge of the Fog of War - about 6 cubes away from the frontmost agent, I reckon.
And you might want to take a look at the Long War mod, which adds a strategy layer to the remake more in line with the original. Sadly they don't have Snakemen yet.
