I always found the "There are modelling issues" thing from GW to be a rather dubious excuse. What's so different about the sisters that makes them harder to cast than anything else? The boobs? (can't be that or else they'd have that same issue with daemonettes and certain dark Eldar)

Nonono, they just can not find a way to cover the sisters in enough fleur de lis AND skulls. You see, they have a minimum quota of skulls per model, but since the sisters are smaller and require some iconography of their own, they just can not find a good way to add enough skulls.

As to the suggestion of Azrael, I'm going to post this here. I heard a little tidbit that contradicts some information I posted earlier.

Next 3 releases are still Eldar, DA, Tzeentch.

I've now heard the DA Tac. Squad isn't coming with this release. (Which in no way means the release list has changed, the release dates do NOT change. If isn't coming it simply isn't coming.)

The Chaplain I heard about is also apparently going to be released separately rather than in a box set as I thought originally.

It was specifically titled a "Interrogator Chaplain" rather than just DA Chaplain ala the Blood Angel Libarian.

So as far as I know the release will just be a new Chaplain and Codex.

Release date May.

Huh. Well alright then.

Still a lot of conflicting stuff about whether or not the Eldar Codex is going to be a replacement. If it isn't, will the Dark Angels get their Codex replaced? If so, the only thing they're getting is a Chaplain? Sounds like the same kind of treatment Dark Eldar and Necrons got when they got their new 7th ed. Codices.

The most telling bit of info we'll get will be when the Codex Eldar: Craftworlds drops. If it replaces Codex: Eldar, then all bets are off as to what else could get replaced, and I'd be that the Dark Angels Codex would be next. I'm sure the'll rename it Codex Adeptus Astartes: Dark Angels, to fit with the Blood Angels one.

However, if the Codex Eldar: Craftworlds works ALONGSIDE Codex: Eldar, then it maintains that GW considers all 6th and 7th ed. Codices to be 'done', and therefore nothing might get replaced. This idea is already supported a bit by Khorne Daemonkin, where many entries were copy-pasted right out of the current Chaos Marine and Chaos Daemon Codices, even though Chaos Marines was one of the first of 6th ed to get the hardback treatment.

I heard it was a full new dex with a spotlight on the 5 major Craftworlds and some formations to represent some of their battle tactics. Whether the Craftworlds themselves will get anymore rules than that I don't know.

I heard new DA dex originally, but since this new tidbit I'm not 100%. I'm going to keep digging for new info.

I'm aware of that, and it certainly bodes well for the 'replacement' camp, but things have been taken off of the site before, only to reappear at random times.

It's showing GW that there is demand, but the thing is, it only looks like $100k out of $500k (because there are 5 armies). Even if it was $250k or $400k that we could count as notSisters, that's probably not a big number to GW. Why, that barely covers a tender for one of Tom Kirby's yachts.
Even if it was the whole 600K that the first one brought it, that isn't even 1% of GW's yearly revenue.

I think people underestimate just how much money Games Workshop brings in, even when they are "declining". It's a lot of money. And in the end, they're going to prioritize their projects based on what they think will make the most money, not just "some money". They have a product where they need to prioritize how they sell it, and to what target segments. A lot of their game is seeing what kind of crossover they can get. Why are so many new Imperial factions released? Because Space Marines sell really well, so they can be a gateway drug to "Hey look, I should buy this new Knight model".

So when people make snarky comments about the how and why of Games Workshop's strategy on selling (or more accurately, not selling Sisters models, realize that they make those snarky comments because they don't really understand the intricacies of how a large retail business is run. Especially a publically traded one more concerned with bottom line than top line.

That said, honestly at this point I'd be fairly surprised if the Sisters don't at least get a handful of kits (probably multi-purpose affairs since they're fairly generic like Space Marines). The rate at which GW is churning out new products has really surprised me. The investment they made in hiring new design staff in 2013-14 has translated into quite a few releases. And it really looks like there has been a philosphy shift over there at GW. Which, for anyone who has worked for a large, established company, you know how uncommon that can be.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

If this holds true, they already have a mold cut for a Interrogator Chaplain from the DV Limited Edition box. I wouldn't put it past them to rerelease it as an individual model with a ramped up price.

Ramped up price compared to what?

Unless it's a higher price than Dark Vengeance was, I can't really see how you could get a ramped up price...

The standardly available chaplain model that is $16. I would imagine a new kit, whether completely new or a rerelease of Seraphicus, will be priced around $30 like the Sanguinary Priest kit.

That could well be, or it could just be because the new dex. hasn't been put on the website yet.

I have a theory on WoT's conflicting information. Someone found a 2nd redirect on faeit: dark-angels-space-marines

That struck me as being remarkably similar to the space wolf pack box, so what I think we'll see is a repacking of the Vet. box to 10men to represent tac squads. That would go some lengths to explaining why Whisperer originally thought their would be a new tac. box of some kind. There will be in essence, but it won't "new new", nor will a full new box all BA be released. Just a repackaging of an old kit to represent one

I don't think you can fault larger trends to individual consumers. I am sure there are people out there still in love with New Coke, Deloreans and BlackBerrys. They just aren't the mainstream.

I am not holding anyone at fault, I was, as I felt I had gone to pains to point out, merely phrasing it how GW would express it. It isn't the first time the sentiment of "it's the customers fault for not buying enough stuff" has come out of Lenton in one way or another.

Really? Link, Source, Quote?

If anything, GW's known for never saying anything, one way or the other.

As with most things, it is anecdotal, I thought that was implied? Or aren't you good at keeping up?

I am good at spotting confirmation bias via people putting words into other people's (or companies') mouth.

Azreal13 wrote:You're good at disguises too.

I could've sworn I read something about it on Pins of War, or maybe somewhere here, in something that Zweischneid posted?

Anyway, it is certainly something I've seen before - GW will 'Squat' things for not selling more - many times not appearing to realize that not releasing new things for Faction (X) tends to lower sales for that same Faction...

I don't know, could go either way. I was about to order the chapter upgrade sprue before, went for something to eat, came back and it was listed as no longer available. New kit replacing it? I don't know if they'd throw the sprue in to make the numbers up on the vets, would be too many duplicate parts like the terminator bits. Either way its out my conversion project on hold because its not available :-/

I would be more surprised if they did. Sisters get no love from GW, and Eldar popping up out of nowhere kind of seals things.

Maybe a halfhearted something to fill the dead time just before 9E releases.
