Argh, I hate to be That Guy, but my existing (almost complete!) Twisted collection is in metal. I don't suppose there will be a metal option for these? I realize for larger pieces it's a tricky proposition.

Someone already asked in the Kickstarter comments, the answer was no, they're just too big and expensive to make in metal.

Yeah, apparently some are nearing the old (but not that old!) GW Landspeeder amounts of metal?

Spoiler:

I had that thing - it was *heavy*!

Also, they're saying that they've got a new and improved resin in play here now.

I'm interested to see how improved, as I went mostly metal last time around because these are gaming pieces for me.

I grudgingly switched to resin after going all metal in the first Kickstarter (I'd picked up some of their resin releases from before that, and they were horrifyingly fragile), and the new stuff is pretty awesome.
It has quite a bit of flex to it which is great for someone as clumsy and ham-fisted as me!

Our new resin is quite tough - even better our caster will add strength where he can - if anyone has a resin Jack'O the Urkin you may have noted there is metal wire cast inside his gun barrels to make the harder to snap off.
I'm confident these big guys in resin will be fine for gaming :-)

This is...good news!

I'm also just really happy to be getting new Twisted! stuff soon!

The Sewer Golem especially looks extremely solid, so I certainly understand the need to switch material. That said, I'd definitely support the add-ons (other than the Count) being in metal if at all possible!

The Kickstarter is wrapping up soon.

There hasn't really been any stretch goals (which is something I wish more Kickstarters would do), but there has been a couple more add-ons added.

The Guild Agent (Who is KS exclusive):-

And Donna Monovoisin (Who is an early release):-

As nice as the miniatures are - and most are absolutely stunning - the game is a blast to play too.

This really is a rare beast - a game (and company) that really do deserve to be more 'popular' than they are!

Apologies for reviving such an old and dusty thread, but I wasn't sure if it deserved a new one yet!

Anyways, after being a bit quiet for far too long, news:-

Greetings Minions of The Engine!
2022 was a bit of a challenging year for us here at Demented Games. We had a rather drawn out trial of using the new Siocast material for our miniatures. It, sadly, proved not to be a viable option for a few reasons.
The good news of that is that we now have a number of Characters we intended for 2022 built up and some of them have now been remastered into our usual high quality metal from Eureka.
The should start to release early in the year and we have other some exciting plans for 2023.
Anyway - it's the holidays - so best wishes to you all from Seb and I and we hope you have a lovely time with family and friends.
We are excited to get the Twisted Steamtrain running again next year!
Cheers
Pete

I know they were showing off a few previews earlier in the year (I distinctly remember an Edgar Allen Poe with mechanical bird legs), but I can't find them now.
Still, excited to hear they're going to start releasing stuff again, I was beginning to wonder if the game had died like a lot of these little skirmish games tend to do.

Good to see news from these guys - love the miniatures AND the game, and it is heartening to see them continuing into 2023!

Apologies for once again reviving this thread after way too long, plus it's not great news this time.

Basically, after a lot of silence again I gave them a poke and they put out this update:-

What's happening with Twisted?
It has been a long time without news and I owe you an explanation, so here is an official post from me, Sebastian.
I have always been solely responsible for the day-to-day running of Twisted. However, since the birth of my daughter 2.5 years ago I haven't been able to spend enough time developing the new characters and game. This is the reason why there has not been any news lately and Twisted has been in a holding pattern.
I was hoping to find my way back to full steam after this hiatus but so far this has not happened. This isn't fair to Twisted and all of you wonderful supporters, so I have been looking for a way to keep Twisted chugging along under new leadership. I have yet to find someone to take Twisted on board but I am confident things will turn out well.
I am very proud of the incredible miniatures and world we have created with Twisted, and I am certain Twisted deserves continuing development. It has so many more places to go, so I am confident Twisted can be given new life and brought to even greater heights moving forward.
Just to emphasise: nothing has changed right now and I am still here filling your Twisted orders! It is just the further development of Twisted that is in stasis at the moment.
Thanks for understanding, my friends. I sincerely appreciate all the wonderful support you have given Twisted over the years. Your amazing generosity has enabled us to bring Twisted this far. I hope I can share some great news soon for Twisted!
Sebastian

Without going all "Conspiracy Theorist", I wouldn't be surprised if there's more to it than that. Plus one of the major draws of this range for me was the Seb Archer sculpted minis, so even if it does end up in some else's hands I probably won't be interested.
While there are apparently some unreleased minis that they might put out at some point, I think it's safe to say that the dream is over.

Yeah I think you jumped that shark. Guy has a family now and kids are hard work, no great mystery to unravel.

Yup... I had practically no hobby time for at least the first two years after my first daughter was born. If he's running Twisted as a sideline to his day job, I can absolutely believe that he's just not had time for it.

Here's hoping the game gets picked up by someone with the will and resources to do it justice!

What's also missing is Pete (who was part of the Twisted game initially) did say on the FB page before the above post that:

"We do have lots of minis mastered and ready to release but there are some things we are working on that mean we need to wait just a bit longer."

The galaxy is littered with the single-planet graveyards of civilisations which made the economically sensible decision not to explore space.

Definitely this!

Though I wouldn't be surprised if Twisted! just fades away...

I hope not as it is a fantastic game with beautiful miniatures!

Once again I drag this thread from the void...

Good news everybody! The game is under new ownership:-

Greetings fans and followers of Twisted - EXCITING NEWS!

We are pleased to announce that Twisted is moving forward under the new ownership of Derek Osborne in the USA. Derek is an industry veteran with many years of experience, and is superbly positioned to take Twisted to new heights. Peter and I are really looking forward to seeing where the game and world we created can go, in the capable hands of a gentleman with the talents and passion of Derek.

What does this mean for you – our valued fans and customers?
There will be a short hiatus while we ship stock to the USA and Derek gears up for production. The webstore will go offline briefly as this transition is underway. Derek has some brand new Twisted miniatures in hand that are already prepared for release, so Twisted will soon be off to a flying new start. Peter will be staying on with Derek to help with concepts, worldbuilding and rules when needed so the unique feel of Twisted will remain, but with Derek’s stamp on it and his industry experience to make the game grow. I trust you find this news as exciting as we do and that you will continue to support Derek and his team as we bring you even more Twisted goodies in the coming months.

So with that, please welcome Derek – the new architect of The Engine!

Thanks so much for your support over the years, everyone.

Sincerely,
Sebastian

I want to see what direction the mini design goes in, without Seb Archer doing the sculpting, before I get too excited but this sounds pretty positive overall.

I'm glad to see the game is going to be re-vitalised, but i worry about the sculpts going forward, as it was Seb Archers that drew me to it

at least the intial new stuff is going to be his work

Not super surprising. Derek and Peter have known each other for quite a long time.

Derek is also the one that picked up and has been running Mercs.

Anything that may breath a second win into this game is a good thing.

It's been a mix of his and other sculptors' work for some time now, and they've done a pretty good job of maintaining consistency, so I think it will be fine in that regard if the new owner keeps using the same sculptors.
