Hi,

I tried to introduce the game to couple of my friends who had good experience in old Fantasy game and we came to a question...

in Warhammer Fantasy, Dwarves can run if there an ennemy within 8" of them (due to their stubborness)... but in Mordheim I have not find the equivalent in the rules, nor documentation/ F.A.Q ...

So... can a Dwarf run within 8" of an ennemy? Due to lack of information at the game, we have "house rule" it that yes they can run... to suit the gameplay, it had no impact on the game... but it left an aftertaste of plausible plothole for the Dwarf Treasure Hunter. I can easly see opponent running to get around 8" of them to jam and force them to walk their small 3" instead of 6. If he place himself well, even the dwarf cannot charge it...

Grrr.... Cheese make me fart...

Dwarves don't get any such ability, unfortunately. As they're written, Dwarves are mostly a ranged/attrition warband. Their "Hard To Kill" special rule (Only being taken OOA on 6s, rather than 5s & 6s) works against any and all ranged attacks, but being wounded while Knocked Down, or hit while Stunned will negate the Hard To Kill bonus.

Giving your leader a brace of pistols helps to some degree. Since models which were Knocked Down can only move 2" in their subsequent movement phase, even if you don't kill an enemy model, knocking them down makes it harder for them to effectively kite you.

Finally, consider Hired Swords.

Frankly, I always found Dwarfs' lack of mobility to be an important Achilles' Heel for a warband with many strong points and advantages.
