I'm gonna be using this thread to post my ongoing conversions for my Stormtrooper heavy Daemonhunter army. I really like the Kasrkin models and have foregone adding basic gk marines as troops in favour of a ton of ISTs unfortunately this means that the retinue for my inquisitor sticks out like a sore thumb so I have decided to convert some of my spare Kasrkins into "counts as" gun servitors and acolytes. CC is very welcome.
and if you want to check out my whole army

First up is my Stormtrooper Captain (on the left) barely a conversion just some removal of ultramarine iconography from the teros model and a paint job in my army colours

[Thumb - 2009_0919save0010.JPG]
Second is my heavy bolter Stormtrooper which i run as a "counts as" heavy bolter gun servitor, i plan to convert three of these but working with metal is a slow process

[Thumb - 2009_0919save0011.JPG]
Does My Inquisitor Lord look better with the cloak?

[Thumb - 2009_0919save0012.JPG]
or without the cloak? Cooments welcome!

With cloak...

This is a great looking army, I'm amazed how much more I like Telion in your army, with the no nonsense colour scheme and the icons taken off.

It all comes together well, grats.

LOL Although with cloak he does look like a bride coming down the aisle with the little kids holding up her long dress.

Thanks again Stompa

FrantzFanon : Yeah i know, the cherubs just seem a little, i don't know, ladylike? hence me asking around before i pin and glue it on for good

thought i would post up pics of a real lady

I converted this celestine before I had decided which inquisition to go with, witchhunters or daemonhunters, and because the model rocks!
I had just finished converting my flatmates celestine to have pegasus wings and a classic white and gold paint scheme and i really needed to rebel with a completely opposite version. The wings and lower base are from the warhammer carrion model with a bit of greenstuff to extend the scrolls hanging from her legs, again a pretty simple conversion.

HOLY MOLY, That Celestine conversion is amazing, never thought those wings would work with that model!

i definitely like Telion more than i thought i would. While the inquisitior definitely works with the cloak, i dislike the celestine conversion. the wings seem too nurgley IMHO.

Here are some WIP shots of my stormtrooper banner bearer, i'm gonna run him as a "counts as" acolyte but he's pretty much there just to add fluff to the retinue

the shape made of greenstuff on the banner is Inquisitor Frosts sigil, the Black Hand from which the Stormtroopers in his private army take their name.

Very nice. I'm tempted to steal that inquisitor idea for myself... if that's ok? Love the Celestine conversion, and it seems I wasn't the only one surprised with how good Telion looks like that.

Thanks everyone for the feedback

@adrastos - No worries steal away... I still can't believe that gw hasn't made an model for what is obviously the most popular build of Inquisitor there is. Good thing about the termie librarian model was how easy it was to snip off the bits i didn't want and glue on the GK psycannon, plus you are left with a cool grimoire thingie to put on a tank or something.

It seems like everyone likes the Telion model so when i get some time i will post up some better pics for you all

cheers!

Hello all, sorry for the lag between posts. It's been the usual good news bad news. First I managed to slip and fall down some stairs while carrying my laptop (saved the laptop at the expense of my back and head) good news is that has given me some spare time to get started on the inducted IG platoon I decided to add to my DH army. These guys are gonna be painted up in the same colours as my Stormtroopers to show they are part of Inquisitor Frost's private army. To start with i picked up a cadian battleforce box which gave me all the models I needed but I felt it just wasn't enough so I ordered 40 of the Pig Iron Productions Kolony Militia heads and some of their backpacks to spread amongst the troopers. Unfortunately the heads are still on their way so i have had to make do just sorting out unit structure etc.

just to prove i am still doing something...

and a close up of my Platoon Commander, havn't thought up a name yet

Impressive thus far I assume you are using what you have yes???.

As that metal Cadian standard Bearer has never really pushed my buttons.I use two plastic Cadian and Catachan standards now for my Penal Legion looks much better and much more dynamic.

But good army thus far..

They dont call me Garybrandy for nothing!

how is it off topic? we hardly know what the topic even is!

Argh! Daemon hunters! = Not Good For Me...
but i do love the colour scheme, very effective.

When you call an intimate moment with your partner "the Assault Phase"

Is that followed by a pile-in move?

That brings a whole new meaning to the term "Hit and Run"

Can that be following a deep strike, or do you have to wait until the next round?

Really? My DH almost never win against anything. can you PM me the list that gives you problems? So I can shamelessly copy it? hurr hurr

@blackhand: I love the termy in celesstine's robe thingy! nice conversion. The army looks good, you've done some bitchin conversion work. Paints not bad either.

I like the Celestine Model. I always got the fealing that those who spend thier life hunting the beast tend to take on traits of the beast, thus she may be a little tainted.

It is a very interesting idea how you used the Cloak and Cherub's. I have a Celstine Model that I converted to my Slaanesh Sorcerer and I didn't use the cloak, may have to keep that round for a conversion attempt myself.

@boss_pimpalotz, I don't mind the metal standard bearer too much and my freind had one lying around to convert anyway, that said now that i have some plastic cadians I am itching to convert some to stormtroopers!

@norwolf , yeah my painting skills are not incredible , I tend to slap on a few coats and once it's presentable I move on to the next model, i will have to get serious with washes at some point to sharpen them up.

@spooner6 , I found it interesting in the fluff for celestine she came back as this flying saint thingy and then was killed again. So I figured I would model her second incarnation as an undead angel with rotten flesh and blackened armour, plus it pissed off my flatemate who like it more than his gold and white angelic celestine , haha

@blackhand: yeah my painting skills are mediocre at best, I think yours are good though. IDK if you took that the wrong way or not. I have yet to try washes really. Most of the paint i use is from walmart or pilfered from my mom. I would hope that I can one day find a job (friggan recession) and buy some matierals to do some basing, washes, etc. But yeah dont get me wrong, your painting is good. I'm looking forward to seeing your future work.

no probs Norwulf didn't take it bad I just put my work up against the other stuff I see on dakka and know I have a bit to go before I will be satisfied. As for washes I do it on the cheap by taking and old pot of chaos black that's almost all gone and fill it with water, shake it round and you have a wash! And a while back our local council made up some gardens with scoria (volcanisc rock) and a weird gritty sand which was great, all I had to do was fill a plastic bag with sand and rocks and I haven't had to buy basing materials for a couple of years, hell if my fiance knew I paid money for little rocks to go on my models my life wouldn't be worth living!

Like the army, are you going to include deamonhosts?
If not include grey gnights as both give you a good advantage in battles.

I'm not too keen on daemonhosts so I'm going for greyknights. At the moment I'm running 30 or so IST for troops and a squad of GKT running 2 psycannon for counter assault and a heavy firebase.

cheers

Don't think you can have 2 Special Weapons in a GKT Squad...

Looking good, and making me look wistfully at the pile of DH models on my desk that need painting...

I think you can put a psycannon on one of the GKTs and then the brother captain can take one from the wargear section. So two is okay.

Thats how I read the codex as well, how suck would it be if you could only take one psycannon in the squad that it does best in.
Nothing like walking your termies across the table and reaching out and slapping down models 36 inches away at the same time.
