Imperial Bureau of Historical Records - Ultra Marine Archives

Rescue Operation Omega 17R
-Restricted- Eyes Only Levels M14 and above

This operation took place on an overcast day in the vicinity of the Imokho Temple,
know to be of significance to the Necrons. A scout Land Speeder of units under the
command of Battle Captain Matthew the Wise was forced down near the Temple.
As Ultra Marine units move in to the rescue, Necron Warriors are seen approaching
from the north. An Ultra Marine spots a damaged Necron elite signalling for help
as seen in the upper left corner of the campod image.

Suddenly, more Necrons! Immortals... Canoptek Wraiths.. an Annihilation Barge..

As Ultra Marine units move up on the left flank, Necron Destroyers approach.

As the injured scouts stumble from the wreck, they realize these are not mere Warriors, but elite Necron Lychguard.

The Immortals move through a burial ground to better firing positions

A Razorback charges forward while a rhino speeds to the left flank

Ultra Marine troopers take up position to guard the center

The Scouts decide to make a stand in the face of the Lychguard advance

The Lychguard moves in and attacks as Ultra Marines pour from the Razorback.

In a bold move, Matthew the Wise orders in a squad of Terminators to disrupt
the Destroyers and block the path to the damaged Necron.

The Terminators succeed in killing several Destroyers but the survivors move off
to target the Ultra Marine mobile units, leaving the Wraiths to deal with the Ultra Elites

Meanwhile, all Ultra Marines move up, revered Brother Mashilous trodding forward in
his Dreadnaught armor to crunch robot, having dispatched the Necron Heavy Destroyers
with his mighty Assault Cannon.

The battle intensified rapidly. The Terminators move to occupy the Temple when
Necron Destroyers appear in support of a Doomsday Arc. Another Ultra Marine unit
drops in but is quickly overwhelmed by Lychguard. A Destroyer Lord sweeps around
the temple and charges a second Dreadnaught as seen upper center of the campod pic.

The Lord makes quick work of the Dreadnaught

On the right, the Ultras heavy fire power takes out the Lychguard and the Scouts
move to rescue the Speeder pilot.

The left is still threatened as more Warriors enter the fray. The Wraiths have
destroyed the Terminators in brutal combat while the Destroyers move to
turn the Imperial flank.

The Doomday Arc continues to bombard the Marines

At the graveyard, Mashilous closes on the Immortals while the Razorback squad
is whittled down by more Necron Warriors

The Immortals stood no chance in the face of Mashilous' rage

The Necron Warriors overwhelm the Razorbacks

The Wraiths destroy a Rhino while troppers surround the damaged Necron

Warriors move to occupy the Temple while the Destroyers prepare their move

The Necrons move past the remains of their handiwork. The Ultra Marines move
back and withdraw but succeed in rescuing the downed Speeder crew and
valuable intelligence they had uncovered.

The Necron presence demonstrated they have designs on re-occupying the
Temple area. The sector has been cordoned off and Imperial Forces are
mustering to eliminate the threat.

Nice armies! Thanks for the report!

You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!

Bright colors! Great report, one question though, your doomsday arc has its cannon on the top instead of the bottom, did you do this because it is easier to assemble? I have yet to start doing mine and wonder what you think..

Doomsday Arc: The pieces fit (which is brilliant on GW's part) and that cannon is just too pretty to have hung underneath the rib cage - you just wouldn't be able to really see it. And it gives some power to the pilot sitting on top of it like it's point and shoot. And I have all those damaged Necrons I didn't use to make casualty markers for the re-animation protocol. Thanks for the comments.

Those armies look fantastic, also the terrain, counters and other dodads really add to the experience. Kudos!

Was this played at the guard tower? Because I play there and recognize the downed speeder terrain.

Ok, I have to ask...who won? Just to be sure, I think it was necrons, but maybe the marines won because of objectives?

had to ask.

The Ultras won on objectives; The Land Speeder and crippled Necron elite versus the Temple of Imohko. It was a close thing, but Matthew the Wise went to Plan B and pulled the victory by keeping the Warriors tied up away from the Land Speeder and Brother Mashilous chewing up the Immortals. Matthew is pretty sharp for an 8th grader, and runs a well painted gang of Ultras. I'm 0-3 against this cat, but one of these days...

Nice report although for inexperienced reader gives no indication how various units fare against their various opponents

Still it was quick to read and the photos added a lot.
