Adolescent Youth with Potential

A pleasure to meet everyone. I recently started collecting miniatures after a couple of ex-friends of mine had them and I really got into it. Before-hand though I used to play the games, of course starting at Dawn of War, and I was hooked from that point. I still buy every game on the pc of anything to do with 40k and log hundreds of hours. About five years after that I started reading the books, my first one was a Space Marine novel of the famed Ultrasmurfsmarines, can't remember the name as it ended up burning in a fire(idiotic story). I ended up getting the Omnibus about a year later when it was released. And last year I started collecting the miniatures over the summer when I had a job. My first thought when I ended up buying two packs of Tactical marines and a Dreadnought was, "HOLY ****! That's expensive!" but I still ended up buying them. and from there I ended up getting the Battleforce after that, next I got a command squad and a Commander/Captain, and lastly I got two packs of Grey Knights. Though the thing is I assembled them all, I haven't decided on an official Chapter to go with. So they're left unpainted, but I do use them for Role playing when my friends and I get together every once in a while.

Now I have a few question to ask:

I'd like help deciding a Chapter to use for my army and I'm stuck between a few. I' was thinking of choosing the Blood Ravens, but they don't seem to be like very much or accepted by many as an OFFICIAL chapter. My next choice was the Thousand Sons, but that was before I found out how the chapters worked, and that they were a Legion that fell to Chaos with a very tragic ending. Then I was wondering, "HEY, why not start my own chapter!" So I created to basic idea of it with some very interesting back story to their formation, in my opinion, I named them the Nova Crusaders (main colour purple, somewhat psyker orientated, a chapter master who borders on madness while being a Librarian). Then I thought about the Soul Drinkers as they match my colour scheme closely, and they don't seem to be part of the Imperium OR Chaos so that's a plus, but I read on the Lexicanum their Chapter has been captured and is being judged, so they could probably be whipped out seeing as how strict the Imperium is on everything. LASTLY I thought about doing a Grey Knights group, because they're all psykers, but they just seem like a jane/john doe type chapter, which is somewhat boring, but still a very interesting idea of not being an official Chapter, working with the Inquisition, and filled with psykers galore.

So my question is, between these (or any new ones that would probably be proposed) which would seem like a better choice?

My next question is, which chapters are psyker orientated that I didn't mention?

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka, I agree the hobby is expensive, I personally would suggest you go for a GK offshoot chapter.
