Can you make a competitive list keeping in mind i want at least 101 Marine in play ?

50 Tactical squad
2x incl Plasma gun
1x incl Melta, multi melta and sgt w/Combi melta
1x incl Heavy Bolter
1x incl Msl launcher

10 Sniper scout squad (+HBolter)

30 Devastator Squad
4x Msl
4x Msl
4x Las can

10 Sternguards (naked)

lvl1 Libby Naked as a warlord...

Could switch in some assault Marine instead of sternguards, leaving me enough points to upgrade the scout squad to a tac squad....

Was gonna use Imperial Fist Tactic...

What are your ideas...

Why not use rhino or drop pods? If you take none then i suggest combat squads and spread out to avoild blast and drakes.

Which sm rule will let you abuse bolters?

Why sternguard naked? Cant they take amazing upgrades?

He says he was planning for imperial fist CT, which means all the bolters reroll 1's and the devs are tank hunters, so the whole army benefits...except for the scouts and sterns when they use special ammo.

on topic, yes I think I would lose the naked sterns for jump marines. Possibly some tacs too. Also meltabombs on every sarge. Enemy troops shouldn't be much of an issue, but any armor out of line of sight of the devs like a basilisk or one that gets stuck in combat like a knight would be tragic to face.

The scouts could infiltrate with bolters in hand instead of rifles and do some shooting early, especially if an enemy heavy weapons team type unit is around. melta bombs on that sarge too, for that option.

Naked sternguard can work well with just their special ammo, but really need to be alpha striking to get the most out of them – give them a drop pod so they can make trouble in your opponents backline. IF Chap. Tacs doesn't help with special ammo, but if they drop close enough they can still rapid fire - 20 hellfire rounds can make a mess of most things made of flesh and bone. Alternatively, for a cheaper alpha strike unit, drop pod a command squad with meltas/plasmas to target vehicles.

With your Tac squads + IF Chap. Tacs, infantry is not going to be an issue, but put meltagun & meltabombs on each squad so you have a spattering of AT around the board. For this points cost, if you want 101 marines I think they are gonna have no choice but to foot slog it up the board and hope sheer numbers is enough to overwhelm the enemy/swallow up objectives.

For the Devs, you could also get rid of the 5 extra marines and invest the points in deep striking assault marines, just to mix it up. This will keep your opponent on the back foot and might grab some late game objectives too. I would also get rid of the MLs and go for more LC/PC if possible to deal with heavy units.

If in doubt, frag it out...

I m all about Rhinos and DP... but i can't afford the points i want to run 101 Marines... That's the concept...

The only fat i have left to trim is the sternguards... i can probably save 40-50 pts if i take assault marines with 2 flamers instead... thats barely enough to upgrade the scouts to tac squad...

Snipers are next to worthless, specially after the 7ed nerf.
Also MS are overcosted.

Perhaps bringing non upgraded tacticals with DA dakka banner would be a good alternative?

That is actually going to be a hard list to move using MSU tactics. 12 OS troops with a special, heavy or combi in 8 of them, 6 Tank Hunting Dev squads with mix of Missles and lascannons.

Sternguard with the Libby could get ugly. I would keep them simply because they bring a lot versatility to the list. Power Armor killers, MC killers, Long range, ignores cover, thatis lot to give up.

Maelstrom or Eternal War missions? How many squads did you have left at the end?

First blood? How? I presume you nailed something long range with your DEVs? What were you up against? More info please!

My hoard marine list is a bit different.

Red scorp chapter tactics

Chap master/w arti armor, burning blade, grav pistol
Chaplain
Honor guard/w banner, drop pod

Command squad/w 4 meltaguns, 3 storm shields, apothecary, drop pod

3 tac squads/w melta bombs, melta gun, pods
3tac squads/w melta bombs, plasma gun

65 FNP marines and a nasty 10 man deathstar melee unit with 2+ armor and power weapons. 7 melta guns, 3 plasma guns, 6 melta bombs. 5 drop pods, 3 of which are objective secured.

The 3 plasma squads start on the table cause nobody is gonna pick off 30 marines with FNP and potentially in cover in one turn.

65 Marines don't qualify ! Must be 101 or more !

Played against a tame Iron Hand list (LR, termi, TFC, Bikestar, Vindicator, couple TL-LC Razorback and a flying tadpole)

He seized and threw the Kitchen sink at a full Devastator in cover in ruins (had stealth Ruins)... He failed to finish it off...

the funny part is that he disembarked his termis ou of the landraider to throw everything he had... and they got a little too close to 4 combat squad who double tapped in the, .. there was perhaps a plasma gun or 2 ... but he mostly just rolled poorly on his saved and FnP.

The heroic of it all was in the last turn, he had a squad of 5 sniper scout in cover on the middle objective... only 3 of them the 3 inch range for objective control .. and the same 3 got nailed by a combat squad bolter volley at long range during the last turn .. just so he doesnt control it at the end of the game...

In any case.. twas an ugly game .. and deployment was a pain ... I feel bad for the orks and tyranid players ...

Eternal war. Big guns never tire (3 objectives)

Had about 4 tactical combat squads left, the Devastators squads survived (2 man, 4 man and 10 man) Sternguards with 4-5 man and the libby all survived...

I couldnt finish off the TF cannon or the vindicator, the LR was dedicated trsp... so we didnt get points for killing heavy support
