Hey guys

Does anyone ever paint the pilot to any aircraft with the plastic see through windows? Or is there a better looking alternative?

Yeah, I paint the interior before putting the clear cover on.

I just paint it basic. Just simple lights and simple pilot and then put the clear on. Looks good (not amazing) but good and people hardly notice.

I paint them. I don’t put my best effort on them, as fine detail is going to be blocked by the canopy, but I paint them.

I have always done at least a basic paint job on the cockpit and pilot.

Why wouldn't you paint them?

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I'm not the best painter really, and I like to glue my models, base them, prime them, and then add detail as and when I get chance. I just wondered if there was a solution

Nope, there is no solution. In fact, one of the things you'll have to learn to get better at painting is how to paint sections of models before assembling them.

I prefer an opaque canopy (paint it black from the inside so it's still shiny).

Actually this is a good solution and I always do it this way. Not because I am lazy, I just think that it looks better .

I always paint the pilot. I'm a sucker for details.

I like the opaque canopies too and if I ever had to paint a canopy, it would either be gold or red. I just think it looks wicked.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

Gold works, reminds me of astronaut visors.

So if I sprayed the inside of the opaque plastic black, it would still look okay?

I'm just completing my two Imperial Fists stormtalons today.

I made the effort to paint the pilot and cockpit separately, glad I did - I'm happy with the results. As mentioned above, you don't need to be very accurate or detailed as you'll barely be able to see inside. It's worth pointing out that if you do lighting effects for the consoles etc. you need to make them really bright!

I paint the canopies as well. My Venom Canopy is silver.

I prefer opaque canopies.

I will paint the pilots with my Horus Heresy stuff. I paid a lot of money for that Aircraft. I want my moneys worth in detail.

I always fully paint the pilot and interier. I also paint the interiers of tanks and vehicles even though it will never be seen.
