Oh, okey. Thank you! The webstore is so expensive, the shipping too.

For many, a major problem with leaving GW's games is that the very large amount of time, effort and money that they have spent on them would go to waste.

SlaveToDorkness means that you should really consider if this is something you want to stick to before you commit to it.

I have the money for it. I just like to have some miniatures that I can paint when I have some spare time. It's a hobby I just have with my littlebrother. Something we can bond over. Thank you for the warning/concern though!

Ironically enough GW is one of my cheapest options for models and materials because they pay for my shipping. I'm in an isolated spot and shipping is so expensive that only the best of deals from other sources are a viable option. I guess they have a different shipping policy over there? Mind Canadian prices for these things are pretty insane so I imagine it's factored into the price.

I'm in it for modeling and painting too. I will not buy an OOB model. Putting time and love into the project is where most of the fun will be for me, showing them off at games is also nice after.

By the way, FLGS can order Web Exclusive items (with trade discounts). They just have to pay shipping on the order, so it doesn't make sense if it's a small order. I believe they get free shipping once a month, too.

Although I play a couple of nights a month (that's 12-15 hours), mostly I'm in the hobby because I love modelling scifi armies. I too find that GW has the cheapest prices of generally available (scifi) miniatures, as well as a comprehensive enough and varied enough range, that I won't get bored within a couple of years if I start a faction. There's also a mix of soldiers, stompy robots, tanks, and jets, all of which I like building.

For a while I really enjoyed P3 miniatures (which cost much more for squad-building), but cost aside, it ran out of steam because I ran out of stuff to build. Not only is the range much smaller, but generally speaking, P3 models take less time for me to model paint than similar sized GW models, because the P3 models have minimal assembly, no configuration/posing options, and back in the days they produced all metal minis, they were easy to clean. Plus, they have few do-dads, especially compared to Space Marines. Once I lose momentum in an army, I tend to do something else, and then don't come back, sometimes for many years. Have to new models respawn

I'm bidding on one on eBay now. It's already assembled, so it's kinda risky if you think on the arms - they can break if not packed correctly.

What you need to watch out for is tax. Our glorious leaders love import tax. I got hit with 1000+ NOK tax on a 2700 NOK order. Make sure your order total (including insurance and shipping) is below 350 NOK, otherwise the import authorities take a cold ladle and apply PAIN to your testicles.

Here's the website for calculating how hard they hit - http://www.toll.no/no/handle-pa-internett/importkalkulator/

For those non-Norwegians out there, divide by 12 to get £.

The alternative is ordering it to a GW near you and pick it up there, which means no shipping. I remember you saying you didn't have one near, but in case you're planning a trip near any of them.

It's below. I won't bid over 200,- NOK. I live in Bergen, so the nearest official GW store is in Oslo. We only have an Outland here.

Well, Outland isn't a "flag store"? Can they order it?

Won't it be the same price as if I ordered it? It will be around 26 GBP (300 NOK) for me if I order it myself. Or will it be cheaper if I order it via my local store?

Hm, seems like my only option is the GW store. 25 GBP included shipping is the total cost. I don't have to pay additional taxes on it either. Is that a reasonable price for a Warpsmith?

Like the others said.

If you dont want to pay GW shipping, either save up till your order is more than €50 or have the Warpsmith delivered to a GW store near you and pick it up for no extra shipping.

That's what I always do when I want White Dwarves in English language.

I love trolling my local GW.

"Hi how may I help you?"

"Yeah I'd like to pickup my delivery" *shows printout*

"Oh ok. Here you go. Anything else I can-"

"Nope. Have a nice day" *walks out with order*
