So, I know a few people have asked this before on other occassions, but it's been quite a while now.

I sent FW an email a while back asking if the Vampire Raider/Hunter model for Eldar was going to be coming back, and their response was that it was being resculpted. But with that having been maybe half a year ago (I remember sending the email around the time that Fast 212 posted the article about the model returning), I am starting to get skeptical.

But, I do not sculpt. How long would an update to the model take ideally? Am I being paranoid? Or is it time to bite the bullet and try to snatch one of the few cropping up on ebay?

Either way, I emailed FW again and am going to see what their answer is as well.

From whats being said in the FW news thread, anything that isn't 30K is very much on the back burner, this includes fixing or replacing old molds. So, they might plan to bring back the Vampire (and unfortunately the Hunter doesn't even have rules anymore) but at this rate I wouldn't hold my breath for seeing it at osme point in the next few years.

The Hunter still has rules, it's just part of the Raider entry now. It's a variant. If that's true, it's rather disappointing

Got a reply from FW (as always, great info and speedy reply from Simon Kirkham) and apparently, the FW team decided to do an entirely new kit that could produce both the Raider and Hunter variants.

Beyond that, however, there has been no progress in working on it. So @Imateria, I think you are correct and everything not HH is being put on the back burner to be worked later.

So... the only question I have left is, whenever FW does decide to get around to this (if they ever do at all), how long would it take to redo an entirely new model? I've heard anywhere from months to years browsing the forumns.

What does Dakka think?

I'd heard FW's design team was getting split up into HH/40k-AoS/Specialist Games and everything's slowing down as a result.

I'm impatient enough to start digging for advice on scratchbuilding one, anyway.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

That's interesting. I hope you are right. It would be sad if FW neglected everything else for HH, but being reminded that they are going to be responsible for the specialist games as well gives me hope.

I was looking to potentially pick up one off ebay myself.

1 hour left on the listing, and it is still way below what US usually would pay since it's on auction. But the seller is not sure if it's actual FW or a recast.

With the FW team redoing the kit to have both variants available in it, I don't think I'm going to risk the ebay. The potential for megnetizing and having the option of fielding either Hunter or Raider is way too appealing. (And I am ok waiting up to a few years before picking the model up. It was on the bottom of my FW wish list before, and I am way more invested in the idea of having my own Spirit Defender Host of titans. If those disappeared from the site, I would be scouring ebay immediately.)

On moon miranda.

A new kit would be great, Ive got a Hunter, and that kit is something of a mess.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Remember, a sculpt is not released when it's finished - but rather when it slots into the GW release time-frame. There are plastic kits released with printings from 2-3 years earlier. The product has to fit into the scheme that GW is currently running, be that a new Forgeworld Imperial Armour book, a new army release, etc.

It's entirely possible a new sculpt can sit for a year or two before time/effort can be expended to bring it to market, etc.
