At the time, the Tyranid codex was young, the people feared living ammunition, and things were generally cool.

Recognize this Stranglethorn Cannon arm? When this guy is based, the base will be more built up in the front and around the sides of the lower appendage, so that it is dragging a furrow.

'Know' doesn't come into it, because you don't know what influenced the creator of the word. You don't know there were zero base words, you can merely speculate. Given GW's history of name creation, 'Tyran' is highly likely to have come from tyrant: "in classical politics, a tyrant (Greek τύραννος, tyrannos) is one who illegally seizes and controls a governmental power in a polis." The connotation being that the Tyranids invade and take 'control' of a planet; that they are cruel and ruthless; or, they look like weird dinosaurs.

I'm not entirely sure I shouldn't make this a wip blog, because I've done some work on these, lovingly teasing the paint and washes into the naughty recesses. There are also some good puns to harvest, succulent fruit ripe for the picking. We'll get to those.
Now, obviously the army as A hole (originally, there really was a w there at some point) is supposed to be distracting, even offensive to some. Thats kinda what I'm aiming for.
The Gobblegooklegrampypant gameplan these days seems to be target saturation, forcing opponents to choose between shooting down several t6 groups, knowing they will likely only fully kill one or two. My goal is to provide extra confusion there. Do you shoot the adrenal trygon within charge of the sternguard, or do you shoot the venomthrope that might be a problem next turn?
Well, ordinarily you'd go for both, but really focus on downing the trygon. If you're gonna be assaulted, you know assaulting into the venomthropes bubble is not something you need to worry about. At least right now.
But what if its a censorshipthrope? What if it has picked up a converted lascannon guardsman and is

Still in the process of moving, but there is good news there. The new apartment has a space for my Warhammer stuff, and will soon have a table made (a WIP for later).
Its also going to have a fortified computer technofortress built deep in our inner sanctum.
My new computer setup is obscene beyond words and this seemed an appropriate thread to do it in, I guess. Nothing too offensive, but since reactions to the thread have been mostly positive, you guys deserve a treat.
You may have seen in some of the pictures here my computer setup beginning to congeal in the background. Some of you have even PMed me asking If I really have 3 monitors hooked up to one box.
Its actually 2 different boxes wired together. Without getting into too much detail (PM me if you want more! I'm happy to expand on this list) here is my setup:
Box#1 - Three video cards, two sound cards, 3 wireless network cards.
Box#2 - Six 250 gig drives arranged in a Raid-3 format. Effifiency is 1-(1/6)*1500 so thats A terrabyte and a quarter of some of the fastest computing around.
Box #1 Gets the two largest LCD moniters, and Box #2 gets the smaller LCD but it also gets a 180" HD Projection screen 1080i with a 3ms refresh. Ahhh.
Thats 15 feet TV, diagonally.
There is a screen pictured, which is my old 120" ten foot TV screen, gonna build a new one.
Also pictured is a Blood Angels Rhino. Its sitting on top of the old screen. Yeah, that tiny thing is a rhino.

This thread is epic. I've seen some neat conversions before, but I don't think anything I've ever seen matched the Goatse Nids. Now I need a set to use as spore pods, lol.
See if he will trade for them so I have something really nasty to come out of the Tervigon. I've been experimentig making a batch all covered in viscera, so far they just look like I slopped red paint.
Lol, just when I think I've seen every crazy conversion I find this thread. The fact the Mods let this stay open as it is modelling is awesome. You should have some Tyranid on SOB /female 40k action, though that might get the thread locked.
I've been grinding the Dakka pretty hard today, and with amazing results. I won't lie - I'm a compliment whore, and you guys spoil me.
Allow me to continue to disgust and delight you with these latest offerings.
First up is a repeat from this thread, but without the blurriness of a bad camera without a macro feature. Behold, the Water Pipe Ripper, digitally remastered so you can see the upside down face I was talking about. He looks pretty happy, and the mouth vent upside down looks more like a certain recreational plant's foliage more than anything else in the 40k UV.
SOB you say? Would you take a converted Star Wars mini? Its female, was holding a lightsaber that I'm making into a power sword, and has 2 guns tucked in her belt. Oh, and I made a garbage conversion trygon, Tremors style. Going to have all kinds of graboid ripper stuff coming out of its mouth, and am going to build up the basing with slate chunks so it looks more like it is tunneling. I also committed a basing sin. (See below)
Also, here is my deathleaper. He is made from a Lictor body with old Lictor claws, and Oooooold Zoan banana finger hands. He is covering the two vital areas on his body as he swings forward, using the claws for locomotion. I've posted this on dakka before, but hey, I think it should be here, too.
Keep up your creativity, dont let people who are less approving of your models keep you from your hobby and please regularly delete your browsing history.....
I heartily recommend you mix in some DE as your 'nids victims. Turnabout is fairplay? Also, the one race in the galaxy that might actually enjoy it?
On another note, doing these scenes as objective markers is hilarious. Please find a fluff nazi and play against them, and force them to try to seize one of your creatively offensive objectives. Bonus points if he's playing SM: "guess you Astartes are into this stuff after all, eh?"
Also, if your goal is purely shock value, have you considered a tervigon exhibiting the miracle of birth?

The grot and ripper fight is actually a pretty complex piece. I chose the models and placement because they are meant to be rolled like a die in the event of a Ork/Tyranid tie.
I envisioned a sphere, and made parts of the models poses touch the outside of the sphere. The grots hands and legs tough the outside radius, as do the ripper's back and the goggles on its head. The effect is something like an old cartoon fight. Two characters locked in an eternal struggle, where if you position either one on top, it appears they are "winning". The ripper on top looks like he is choking the grot. Grot on top depicts a grot about to punch a ripper to death. The weighting on this "ball sculpture" is such that one side usually ends up on top, with minimal side rolling.
Once painted, the grot will have a shirt painted on, and the ripper carapace will be painted to match. As depicted on the Ork's base, it will look like the ripper is attempting to assassinate the grot and then assume its place.
Building this into a speaker in my Hive Tyrant's base. I need ideas on how to dirty up a tyrant. Obvious choice would be a Dominatrix, as that was once an actual tyranid thing, but im sure theres something I'm missing that would fit even better.

These next pics are from one of my other great loves - actual bugs.
Billions of years of evolution have put us above most insects. They are our total bee-hotches to turn a phrase. The lightbulb? Inventing that set bugs back millions of years.
So Im gonna make bugs work for me, specifically, wasps. Can't be any more cruel than a lightbulb.
Wasps, as you may know, have some evil stingers attached to them. Part of the deal. This stinger can sting a target multiple times without damaging the insect, unlike a bee.
So whats the harm in harnessing some wasp stingers for some tyranid terrain?
Pictures will speak much louder than words here, but heres the basic rundown:
1) Catch a wasp. Get it in a container somehow. I used a ziplock bag and testicles, son, testicles.
2) Gently place this angry, pissed off force of nature in the fridge to chill out for about 10 minutes.
3)OH noes its DEAD?! Not really. More like in suspended animation. its still alive, but you can hold it in your hand. Hands are warm though, so watch out for that.
4) Take the knocked out wasp and tie a string to it. I am very careful, and tie a slipknot beforehand and then secure it to the thin joining section between thorax and abdomen.
5) Now you have a wasp on a leash when it comes to a few minutes after being out of the fridge.
I'm going to tie these all over my Warhammer table, and make a very hostile Tyranid themed environment. Make your moves quickly, please.
Thats just your opinion, which differs from those of moderators. Its not just 6 pages of me constantly bumping, either, as is generally the case with trolling threads.
These are legitimate ways of modeling Tyranids. If you don't like them, thats fine with me. I'm abiding by all the rules that Dakka imposes upon its forum denizens. Being nice to the others and keeping your mouth shut when theres nothing nice to say is not only a Dakka rule, MGS.

You'll note that I'm very emphatic that the process is non-harmful to my insect friends.

Wait, so by your own words, it doesn't count as animal cruelty as long as you don't hurt them, despite the fact that tying string around an insect will likely cause severe internal trauma to the insects body, and if not, it'll starve to death, or most likely, kill itself trying to escape the bonds you put on it.
I tie a small running overhand knot which is easily undone. It goes around the animals torso at the thinnest yet strongest spot on the animal so that it is undamaged by the creatures natural motion.
Its not going to starve in the course of a 3 hour warhammer game, especially after its stint in suspended animation. After I and my opponent are allowed to study its natural behavior in a more intimate setting, it will be released back into the wild, free to pollinate flowers or sting small children, or whatever it is that it wants to do.
This is no more harmful than what you do every night to the bugs outside with your lights. Those moths and small winged creatures of the night think that your 40 watt incandescent light is the moon. Now THATS messed up, man. So calm down and have some fun after a few relaxing deep breaths. Or, carry out an insect rights crusade against me. Thats pretty rational too I suppose.

You are correct sir. How about remembering the bit about the trachea, and where it threads through? Maybe a bit about the insects spiracle system and how vastly sensitive it is? Perhaps something about the way an insect behaves. Ever seen a fly try and get through a window pane? How it can't fathom why it can't get through, and so it will repeatedly bash itself against the glass until it either exhausts itself to death, or causes enough trauma to kill it. Same would be with the insect tied up. It will either not be able to even take off the ground, not being strong enough, or it will damage the trachea in such a way that it won't be able to respire, and will die.

I guess certain people here are Saints and have never killed an insect, let alone anything else, in their entire life (you best be vegans as well) especially in such cruel ways as swatting, stomping, zapping or (God forbid) driving their cars at night.
It can only be assumed, because, hell, that's what we're all doing, that people see it as you 'abusing' these things because of all the variables that can be used for those "what if?" scenarios. By the same logic, giving your dog a rabies shot could be cruel (or even just putting a collar on your dog) because of things such as putting the collar on them which could choke them, making them climb in and out of a car in where they could fall and break bones or the simple fact that the vaccine itself could be tainted and harm your pet in a way that is irreversible. Either way, people see it as you playing God, though they didn't seem to have the venom sack to say it straight out, and that, I don't know, you just mash them with a hammer after each match, even though you said you will set them free after the match. Again, I can only assume certain individuals missed that as well.
But, as OP has stated more then once; if you don't like it, get out. He was much nicer sounding and spiced it up a tad throughout the numerous times he had to say it but you get the gist. I used a Maccrage terrain pieces, with a smaller one (3 mouth genestealer thing) nested inside, glued to a 40mm washer. The hands are all spare genestealer parts.
I'm not claiming its cruelty. I am asking what could cause you to think its a good idea having live wasps on your board
Maybe it´s like a desperate attempt at actually winning a game, you know if you opponent is allergic to bees, then get stung and keel over it kind of counts as a win by walkover lol

Pressure is on: do more creative work, get it to more people, and do it faster. From now on, expect daily, perhaps even twice daily updates to the actual content portion of the thread. Ive got a lot of spare parts now, and people in my area willing to trade bits, so really now its just a matter of how long I can go before either suffering burnout or getting love knifed by a fan.
First up: Fanservice. I've chopped up tank bits and a Khorne Berserker to make a Boba Fett. Now, I know his backpack isn't an exact match, but the visor sure is. Im waiting on two rhino headlights to do a more accurate modeling job before I repaint him. They'll go where the exhaust ports on the pack are, and that should be about as close as I can get. Theres also rumors of a guy who plays SoB trading me what will become a "Slave Leia" figure.
Theres even a fellow Dakkanaut who I've asked to help me provide a suitable sex nose for when I mount the Boba Fett on Leia, but as of yet he has not been forthcoming with that.
Personally, I think there should be a lot of U and N sounds in the noise, tempered with Hs. Something like Uuuuunnnh Unnnnhhunnnh but thats also really up to the man I'm collaborating with.

PS: awesome stuff man, really like some of this, although you could do some more modeling on the tervigon. the idea is brilliant, its just that the large spherical body could do with a bit of refining, possibly add some plasticard or greenstuff carapace, but im begging, you, dont just leave it at that, because it has real potential, and should be finished propely. also you could add some thicker legs, but its mainly the finishing of the main body that needs something.
and as for you "part of the battlefield where your enemy is afraid to move men into" thats awesome! you should just use dormant wasps as the objectives on your side of the board, and set up you men on those objectives, then when the wasps wake up halfway through the battle your opponent cant claaim the objectives!!!

Come to think of it, not really any of his 27 gallery images meet that criteria! I just picked that one because it has the guy in front row center not painted at all.

Not a big fan of the models per se, I just love your mouthyness, and how you're just kind of giving people the finger because they're to dense to see the sarcasm.
@Lint Thanks for the input! To be honest, I'm just banging the models out as fast as I can before the ideas slip away. My photography might also leave much to be desired, but all I've got is a cameraphone. Some of the models even have large voids in between the plastic, like the Penobjective or the Gargoyle guitarists left arm that are hidden by camera angles. The intent is to "Some Day" go back and finish both sculpting and painting. But for now I'm just cranking out a Fun themed Tyranid army with a sideboard intent on perhaps giving opponents a really awkward boner/ wasp stings.
I'm glad you're one of the people that enjoys the mouthyness. Too often, people abuse the anonymity of the internet to just blast away without fear of repercussion. Or they have reached 500ish posts on an Internet forum that they now perceive as "theirs", and can speak however they like, and influence what actually happens. Not so, if I can stop it. You'll notice that the detractors rarely come back for a second portion, and the ones that do aren't back for thirds. You'll also notice that I try and respond to everyone that contributes, and will spend time and resources seeing that ideas that I like come to life.
Again, I know I'm not the best modeler, painter, or even human being for that matter. But dammit, I love me some Wargaming, Fun, and well, I had a third thing but its slipped my mind. Grammar. And as a reward for slogging through my walls of text, heres a shot of my new workspace. Its a wicker table thats on its last legs, so I'm going to restore it into a gaming board. Its got 6 sides and the wicker pattern meets in the middle, so I'm planning deployments based on rolling a D6 and trying to get to the objective in the center. The table is 36" across, so that means its 18" to the center. Its like this thing was made for fun games.
Its an HQ Tervigon, Limbo. Since its hollow, I fill the space with the old termagants and just shake out the amount I need per rolling. Its also huge. A normal size carnifex or Tyrant fits behind it and is totally out of LOS.

If I were in your place, I'd drop the idea of a cheeky, gruesome play on words and go entirely the other direction: picking a name so candied and happy-fun-times that it is eerily out of place with your savage ripper band. I think you could still play off naming conventions for bands, but instead of metal I'd look at pop, particularly from 50-60 years ago (i.e. ______ and the _______). I think it's a little more cerebral, which you pull off well.
The musicians are likely going to be an objective marker, same as the sex scene. If I'm to pick three objectives, drugs sex and rock and roll are the classic three life goals. Gonna have to be careful with this next one not to be too offensive.

WYSIWYG doesn't work for me, really. Too many custom funmodels. When I'm playing games. I mostly go with WITYIWTMH or What I Tell You Is What The Model Has. They can also refer to my army sheet for any confusions, but mostly my army is very clear as to what is what.

You were 'called out' because you were trying to call out Doomthumbs' lack of painting with a statement that was not as grammatically correct as this but with the same gist "I don't see any models painted to TTQ and if they are it's bare minimum". That got DT to look in your personal gallery and point out the paint job on your models with only one being close to that TTQ standard (thought it wasn't done either). Since then, you've gotten better and, though this is belated, good for you. But, really, don't talk bad on someone for the same thing you do. And, yes, we know, you paint better now, not the point. 'Worry about the log in your own eye before the splinter in your brother's'. Not exact but more or less.
And, as Doomthumbs has said before, who/what gives you the right to say what is and is not art? No one and nothing. Art, much like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. So, let me clarify this for you: you can not force your opinion here. Because you don't think it's art, does not mean it's not art. Because you don't like what he does, doesn't make it bad. If you don't like it, you can leave. I hope this issue has been thoroughly clarified so there is no confusion on any one's part.

What you fail to realize is that the scrawling of mad-men who define words fail in capturing the way others feel about something. One man's trash is another mans gold. The above is a clear cut case of gold for all of us, except apparently you. Of course, opinion is a fiddly thing, and the majority of those following this thread share in the appreciation of Doom Thumbs' content.
Further, the examples of art you have posted, are all clear examples of classical art, which is all well and fair, but you appear to have taken no consideration of post-modern art. You may not have noticed, but we are in fact living in a post-modern world. Doom Thumbs is at liberty to express his personal self in whichever way he chooses, and if that method entails injecting crude humor into a game steeped in the darkness of bloody war-stained future, then that's his to do. I look at the content he posts to this site and while I hold issue with it, it posts clear examples of innovation that I myself am tempted to use. Considering that a good deal of people are incapable of even doing water effects, DoomThumbs is well ahead because I am envious of what he can do. Either way I fail to see how his choice in self-expression illegitimzes what he does, because it is in the end a productively creative effort. Most of the people that pick up the 40K hobby don't come up with very much that is creative or innovative in what they do, painting, and repainting armies the same color of red, applying a different trim to arrive at either a Khornate force, either marine or daemonic, or a blood angel force, or a red corsairs force, etc. I have seen a great many tyranids, painted with outstanding skill, were it not, by my opinion, for the fact that the colors were unnatural, unorganic and clashed. I was thoroughly displeased with what I felt was an offense to those models, but appreciated that my opinion had little to do with his or anyone else enjoying those models, or what he did with them. The argument that it ought to be kept in private if it is offensive to one or two people is invalid. That does not breed tolerance, it breeds intolerance and ignorance. Just as I have no right to ridicule or demean a person who I feel offensively paints models or wastes canvas does not grant me the power to demand them shut up, shut off, removed and ostracized. I can make my opinion, but that does not entitle in anyone else having to share it. You have made your opinion already but chosen to insist carrying on ramming this thread to the top of the list every odd couple of minutes, as well as risk getting it locked for steering it so badly off-topic, for, using your own words, failing to provide anything of artistic merit related to the content of this thread. You have also succeeded in embarrassing everyone here publicly for dragging us along on your adventure.

Let me dissect your second dictionary definition banded around earlier. "Art", as you have defined there, clearly satisfies what DoomThumbs is producing. It is quite clear that a certain amount of pre-meditation and concentration goes into his work, otherwise, the models would be a mess of glue and random parts, and yet, what he produces contains a method and a clarity to it. At a simple level, it can be appealing for its crude humor, but others can find it appealing for, as you have defined, its clearly non-ordinary significance. You use the word "Art" in an elitist method that would see you offend a child, but yet, when a child scrawls on paper, we are all in unanimous agreement that that scrawling, however undecipherable, is indeed art.
You also band the word Vulgar around, pretending you have the power of knowledge imbued in your veins. And yet, the art you showed contained nudity, and violence, two things which at base can be considered to be vulgar. Let us track back to the romantic period in history, where there is a sudden burst of the nude form. I guarantee you, that before this period, the display of the naked human form was quite vulgar and offensive. Consider also Francisco de Goya, who produced art of great quality. Consider also that later in his life the art he produced became progressively darker and more vulgar as as his life went on. You mean to tell me, that his painting of Cronus eating his children, is of no merit for the fact that it is vulgar?

Wash, I'm a little confused by the case that you're making here. It seems pretty clear that you don't want Doomthumbs posting his conversions on Dakka, but your reasoning seems lacking. Feel free to clarify the following for me.

1. His models aren't painted. I didn't see anything in the forum guidelines that says all models need to be painted. Moreover, I see plenty of threads where converted models are NOT painted, ostensibly so we can see how they were put together. Should these be closed, in your opinion?
2. His models aren't painted to your standards/TTS.

4. His models are offensive. I don't think that the potential of this thread to offend people has gone unnoticed. DT has mentioned it several times, and plenty of people have pointed out how he has upset their delicate sensibilities. The fact that you are among the latter is noted, and respected. Given that you hold this view, there are two avenues for you to respond: (1) you could unsubscribe from the thread, mark DT (and anyone else you like) with the 'Ignore' button, and go on about your life, or (2) you could continue to complain about being offended after several moderators have reiterated that the thread does not need to be locked, ostensibly in the hopes that a mob of protesters will bully them into changing their decision. I find the latter distasteful, and would discourage you from pursuing it.
5. His models are vulgar, immature, crude, lack artistic value and negatively impact the prestige of the forums.
Vulgarity is a concept that, while it may be defined objectively in a dictionary, need be applied subjectively in real life. The supreme court (who I mention simply because their work reflects the thorough debate and consideration of a group of widely respected scholars) has struggled greatly with segregating works that are obscene/vulgar from those that are protected by the freedom of speech. Justice Stewart's 1964 concurring opinion, for example, essentially says "I know it when I see it."
Because of the subjective nature of labeling work as obscene or vulgar (in the same sense as you defined pornography as lacking artistic merit), any application is simply an opinion. Once again your opinion is noted, but the comments in this thread show that it's far from consensus and in fact does not reflect the views of the moderators (whose opinions are, ultimately, the only ones that have any bearing on whether a thread will be locked or not). Unless you expect your opinion to outweigh the aforementioned, I'm not sure what you hope to achieve by restating it several times in the same thread.
6. This thread has wandered OT, and should therefore be locked. Your adamant resolve to clarify (which my father always referred to as "getting the last word in") merely contributes to driving this thread OT. I have struggled with whether to respond to you or not, but resolved to simply so that, if another crusading knight rides into this thread on their moral high horse, my reasoning will dissuade them from treating Dakka as their damsel in distress. My opinion, which I doubt I am alone in, is that the imagery from Don Quixote is far more relevant in this case.

Instead, you guys are just as twisted as I'd hoped you would be. So to celebrate, and possibly cap off content extravaganza day (I may have more left in me yet!) I'm going to post a detailed WIP from start to finish so you guys can get a sense of how I'm converting these. Maybe even apply some of what I'll try and teach you to your own models. Glad you enjoy. I didn't have a spare lictor laying around (they went in the garbage with 5e) but I did hack apart another relatively cool model for you.
Heres an overhead shot. I'm going to put a suicide pill in his left hand. That was actually the most complicated part, carving out his palm with the razor.
When I paint it, I'll do black and water effects down the first leg section, then fleshtones for the rest of the leg to give a skintight leathery look.
Acid spray? Thats usually only on big bugs.
I'd love to do that, but maybe on a smaller scale, like just a melting guardsman.

the difference being that every media you listed is controlled to make sure that it does not allow pornography into hands of minors. Dakka Dakka does not require you to be 18 to sign up therefor no pornography of any kind should be allowed on the website.

Considering that a good deal of people are incapable of even doing water effects, DoomThumbs is well ahead because I am envious of what he can do. Either way I fail to see how his choice in self-expression illegitimzes what he does, because it is in the end a productively creative effort. Most of the people that pick up the 40K hobby don't come up with very much that is creative or innovative in what they do, painting, and repainting armies the same color of red, applying a different trim to arrive at either a Khornate force, either marine or daemonic, or a blood angel force, or a red corsairs force, etc. I have seen a great many tyranids, painted with outstanding skill, were it not, by my opinion, for the fact that the colors were unnatural, unorganic and clashed. I was thoroughly displeased with what I felt was an offense to those models, but appreciated that my opinion had little to do with his or anyone else enjoying those models, or what he did with them. The argument that it ought to be kept in private if it is offensive to one or two people is invalid. That does not breed tolerance, it breeds intolerance and ignorance. Just as I have no right to ridicule or demean a person who I feel offensively paints models or wastes canvas does not grant me the power to demand them shut up, shut off, removed and ostracized. I can make my opinion, but that does not entitle in anyone else having to share it. At a simple level, it can be appealing for its crude humor, but others can find it appealing for, as you have defined, its clearly non-ordinary significance. You use the word "Art" in an elitist method that would see you offend a child, but yet, when a child scrawls on paper, we are all in unanimous agreement that that scrawling, however undecipherable, is indeed art.
You also band the word Vulgar around, pretending you have the power of knowledge imbued in your veins. And yet, the art you showed contained nudity, and violence, two things which at base can be considered to be vulgar. Let us track back to the romantic period in history, where there is a sudden burst of the nude form. I guarantee you, that before this period, the display of the naked human form was quite vulgar and offensive. Consider also Francisco de Goya, who produced art of great quality. Consider also that later in his life the art he produced became progressively darker and more vulgar as as his life went on. You mean to tell me, that his painting of Cronus eating his children, is of no merit for the fact that it is vulgar?

I intentionally did not use post modern art for that very reason, this forum has no age restrictions on who can see its content and no one has to even log in to see this page. it is not art because he self identified it as pornography when starting the thread. whatever you feel gets you excited does not mean it is acceptable. I'm not dragging anyone along anywhere, this thread is in clear violation and I am working to show that 'letting it stay open' is a mistake. its art because it requires skill, follows the rules of design, and is aesthetically pleazing. regardless it is just color on a canvas, it is NOT however pornographic or vulgar.

You use the word "Art" in an elitist method that would see you offend a child, but yet, when a child scrawls on paper, we are all in unanimous agreement that that scrawling, however undecipherable, is indeed art.
elitist has become a new buzz term to define people of credibility and intelligence in a field that they don't understand the 'common folk' as you do here. simply by producing a product requires a level of pre-meditation and concentration. a child scrawling on paper is art in the fact that it is aesthetically pleasing to people who see it (or namely the parents) and a very limited outside audience. thats of little significance because it is not pornography. any quality of work is allowed on dakka, its the nature of this 'project' that is offensive.
You also band the word Vulgar around, pretending you have the power of knowledge imbued in your veins. And yet, the art you showed contained nudity, and violence, two things which at base can be considered to be vulgar. Let us track back to the romantic period in history, where there is a sudden burst of the nude form. I guarantee you, that before this period, the display of the naked human form was quite vulgar and offensive. Consider also Francisco de Goya, who produced art of great quality. Consider also that later in his life the art he produced became progressively darker and more vulgar as as his life went on. You mean to tell me, that his painting of Cronus eating his children, is of no merit for the fact that it is vulgar?
I do in fact hold the power of dictionary.com and the proper definition as you do as well. to put you in a little perspective the second half the the 18th century is hardly a long time ago. the library of alexandria had as much knowledge as we do know about the human condition and psychology, before it was burned to the ground by sexist bigots or "The decree of Coptic Pope Theophilus in AD 391;" However even the very talented and inspiring work of Goya is in itself not vulgar.

"Your" mini is hosted on a photobucket account, and looks very similar to almost every other model out there. Its a nice paintjob, if it is indeed yours, don't get me wrong. Its just that the stance and general originality of the figure is about as bland as air flavored oatmeal. Also, its hosted offsite, so you are either A) detracting from Dakka pageviews, hurting the website you claim to like, or B) Unwilling to put it in your gallery because its not really yours. Your gallery still shows the same 27 very low quality images. I fully grasp the concept that you find my work distasteful. Do you understand that everyone else is laughing at you, writing essay length critiques of your critiques, while the content hungry starve to death?

Hand waiving: is drawing or assuming conclusions without evidence. Outside of an argument, it typically refers to skipping over a complex explanation or assuming it is obvious. E.g., "Sam did a lot of HandWaving when asked how the rendering engine would work."
thats fine I disagree with you because it is not designed to stand out or overshadow the other more elaborate models in my army. as I said before I do not use dakka because of threads like yours I instead go to private forums where threads like this are deleted. If you doubt my credibility you should first look at the source link to the image.
you seam to think because a few people think I'm wrong while parading the dicks in your thread means everyone is laughing at me, I've in fact received pm's of support from other members. I care very little that you want to satisfy what you think is a need for this kind of work on dakka. I'm not saying it didn't take a long time to make your models, I'm not saying it didn't require a lot of resources to do so, I'm saying they don't belong in a public forum. you don't have to run and hide or destroy them. just remove them from this thread.
