Do you have any closeups of the gun? Guijas are AVA 2, so I'm considering grabbing a second one and converting it to be firing the gun myself.

Post by: chromedog
I'm not quite sure what you are asking? The only mods I did to the gun were to remove the part that helps attach it to the back. Clippers, then a file, then some GS to tidy up the scarring. The thumbhole stock and open spock hand assisted with the mounting. The hand pose itself readily accepted the gun and all I really did otherwise was bend the bottom 2 fingers slightly to hold it in place. Then glue it down.

Looks fantastic Killionaire, beautiful paint job on such a lovely miniature.
What stands out for me is the lovely smooth white paint, and the detail you've put into the base - is that detail all freehanded on?

Yeah, that's quite fancy. I wish they didn't make it in such a static pose, but your paintwork is splendid.

Thanks guys,
White's a love of mine for paint. I hate doing it mechanically, but it just feels colorful and fun when it works out. White-Orange-Charcoal is such a classic combination, you see it in scifi stuff everywhere.
The base is one of Warsenal's Tunguska bases. It's three peices of etched Acryllic pasted on top of each other. Very shallow, but detailed well. Just a layer of wash on basecoat, then ghosting with grey for dashes.

When I started with Infinity, I got into Haqqislam because the models were great and because I really liked the official scheme. When I got my first models I thoght of doing my own scheme, but it would have ignored half of my reasoning for starting Haqqislam.
I also do my own little changes though for many reasons. Sometimes I just like it more, like the dark cabling beneath the armour. The official scheme has light grey cabling. Also I leave off a lot of small details Angel does like freehand faction symbols and little spots of colour because I have pretty bad vision (astigmatism in my left eye makes it hard to focus on the details) and a really, really unsteady hand. That was particularly bad on this model and a lot of the edge highlighting is fairly sloppy because of it

Thier armor has nipples and a nice little patch down south in the groin area. The rest of the model is sculpted great. I just question why they did that. Was it really necessary? It doesn't really add anything to the model. For me, it detracts from the beauty of the models.

While a lot of CB's other minis are a little bit lacking in taste (why combat heels? why?), I think that the Riot Grrls are the one set of models where a little bit of indecency makes sense. Part of the whole punk rock/riot grrl ethos is proving a point through shock, which definitely comes through.

Riot Grrlz as a unit name sort of hints that there would be little touches like that.

Yeah, I thought it was kind of the point. Plus its armor detailing so not exactly inappropriate. Exactly.
I have the spitfire Grrl, and I like the unit in terms of mechanics. The poses are a little static for me (they ARE in power armor so maybe it's on purpose) or I'd have the rest already.

Heya! Sure, I made a tutorial on my whole process with an example... skin's just one part, but easy and fast.
http://infinitytheforums.com/forum/topic/29491-killionaires-tutorial-joan-of-arc-in-90-minutes/
Basically for these guys, I picked two colors: The near-lightest tone the skin will be, and the darkest tone.
Primed everything white.
Put a thinned layer of 'light skintone' on them.
Put a washed layer of 'dark skintone' on them.
Put another washed layer if I wanted more contrast.
For the highest points where I need to do a quick highlight, I put a tiny dab of the light tone layer back on top.
Really quite simple and just follows the 'paint light, wash down' principle to minimize non-wash brush strokes that generate not-smoothness.

She looks great and I have to say, I much prefer the modified pose over the stock one. So, what you did was basically thin down all of your paints to a wash-like consistency and the only actual wash used was Agrax Earthshade? And, just to clarify, you used bone as the base color for the uniform? I'm going to have to try this.

Green Alguaciles and Mobile Brigada work well, since they can be a part of a Haqq sectorial too. Nice work.

Thanks! Pretty much that's what the whole technique is. Works with a lot of ranges of colors.
Basic core principle is: basecoat everything the light shade. Then just wash dark and let drying properties of thinned, washy paint do the rest. Shade down, and highlight edges as need be.

Miscellaneous
New to Infinity but massively hooked, I have been looking for somewhere to see and share Infinity models and finally found this link. I was previously feeling good about my painting but since browsing this thread (the chrome bikers!!!! JESUS) I now feel a lot less confident. Infinity seems to inspire the best painters to pick up their models.
I've only just got started with Operation Icestorm as I have some how managed to convince my girlfriend to play Ininity. I have taken the Nomads and she has taken the Pan O. Here are my first three Corregidor Algulacile. Not happy with the womans face and may need to downgrade the lipstick but otherwise happy with my start. Apologies for the quality of the pics I will attempt new ones in the future once I photograph the Shock Army troops.
Great to see so many inspiring minatures on here. Keep up the good work and don't be offended if I steal your colour scheme.

It appears to be four Micro Arts Studios Warehouse mats, so it would be 8x8. However, they appear to be mirrored and flipped, so I'm guessing it was scanned, digitally manipulated, and then printed off, so it is possible that it was scaled down during that process.

That's exactly what I did. It allowed me to mirror it as well for more variety. It is 4x4 (on 2 2x4 pieces of gatorboard).

That gaming board is ridiculous!
I'm playing on a table tennis table with the cardboard buildings from Operation Icestorm (note to self sort terrain out).
I have finished the Pan O line troops and opted for a Shock Army of Acontecimento scheme. Now they are finished I can move onto more exciting models, not that any Infinity madels are boring.
First up is a proxy model for the Moran Maasai Hunter. In the background these are supposed to be bad ass African warriors...the current models look like hobbits compared to the new sculpts. So after an internet search I came up with this guy...
I've tried to paint African spot face paint on him but it doesn't come out so well in the photos. Now this guy looks the part. Big, imposing and hopefully willing to sneak up on the Nisse and blow his fething head off. His high BS is frustrating.....

Captain Pouches. This guy has been in progress for a year, which tells you how much I disliked painting him. In the end I just forced myself through finishing him.

While I'm not an active Infinity player/collector (I mainly paint 40k mini's, and don't even play that game), I have painted my first Infinity miniature and thought I'd pop it in here to show a crowd that may appreciate it more than my usual 40k followers... and that it may be something you haven't seen if you're not following my (mainly 40k) blogs.
I painted her to match my multiped tank, rather than any official scheme.

Don't get too excited, this is only 1 of 2 Infinity figures that I have. They were part of a prize from one of Gits' Mantis-maker contests. I do like the Infinity aesthetic, in general. But the single-pose, metal nature makes them less useful to my converting crazes. This one fitted the tank without the need to do anything. I've not found a use for the other one yet... I haven't ventured into P&M yet but I'll be over soon, I'm sure you've been coming up with lots of great stuff these last couple of years!
I've been keeping myself busy, yeah. Drop on by and kill an hour (or 4). The Szally pilot looks great, well done. How did you find painting at that scale? Looking forward to seeing the rest of that big beast in your thread too!
Thanks. I actually quite enjoyed the painting; partly due to it being a change of pace from the previous couple of projects. Didn't have a problem with the size/scale. I even painted her eyes (with pupils an' everything), which I don't normally do; I get the impression that CB exaggerates different features to what GW does. That tank was a nice kit to build too.

Pacific wrote:...Cracking job also Dr H, thats a neat touch with the base edge.
Thanks Pacific.
The base edge is to add a unifying element to my army.
If you have not visited my (mad) army blog: As an excuse to build and paint a wide range of models with no limitations to army lists, game rules, etc. I conceived the plan to build an army that is made up of "brainwashed" members of all other armies (and eventually game systems). I'm also creating fluff and rules for the army.
As each individual is painted in their original colour scheme there is no uniform to the army; this may cause confusion* on the battlefield (one of mine may get accidentally included in my opponent's army). I have yet to play a game (and don't hold out hope of finding many willing opponents) and focus on the modelling side of things.
*The point of the army fluff is that it's based on a (mad) scientist that is a believer of "true" chaos, which by it's very nature should be confusing.
Can I ask what the big walker miniature is?
Tristan228 is correct; the Kenbishi heavy industries HAW206 prototype multiped tank. I got the 1:35 kit from HobbyLinkJapan. https://hlj.com/product/KBYKP-259

Ahh, that's why it's so smooth, thanks for posting it. It brings up the little plates on the legs particularly well.
34242
Post by: -Loki-
My favourite part of the new Haqqislam aesthetic is the segmented, squared off armour plates. I like the look with the well defined lines between them. Unfortunately it's also what discourages me from painting them faster, because it's such a pain.
43045
Post by: Casey's Law
Slow it may be but worth your effort, it looks great. By the way where did you get your bases, they aren't the CB ones are they, the lip looks smaller.
34242
Post by: -Loki-
Bases are just the stock bases with sand - washed Army Painter Soft Tone, drybrushed P3 Jack Bone, then Army Painter Skeleton Bone. Rocks are made out of broken up cork tile, painted P3 Idrian Flesh, washed with Army Painter Strong Tone, then drybrushed Idrian Flesh, then about 30/70 White and Idrian Flesh.
Finished another old model that's been in my backlog for far too long - the mighty Maghariba. Now to get it on the table a bunch of times before my willpower check fails and I buy the new one.

It has a bevelled edge. That's the main reason I ordered a base rather than just buying some mini CD's. Took a while to find an 80mm plain bevelled edged base.
It's just not as prominent as on a normal base because it's twice the thickness.

Still bevelled. All of my Haqq are on standard bevelled CB bases with sand and rocks made of cork tile. The only one that isn't is the Maggy, which didn't come with a CB base so I ordered a bevelled plain base.

SuperNewb, you'll find that those Yu Jing from the starter box paint up nicely. I was very pleased with the minis, and I don't even play Yu Jing. Just be careful with the Hsien's sword. It sticks way out from the base, and is easily bent.

Thanks for the tip!
I'm still building additional troops and have run into some snags with huge gaps that need filling with Green Stuff. For example, the back pack of the Su Jian does not fit at all! I have sanded it, tried to bend it, and basically resounded to glue it in place and then fill the large gaps. The head of the model does not touch the back pack as it's supposed to, so I may have to bridge the gap with Green Stuff.
I also am a bit frustrated about the lack of good 360 degree photos to rotate and the lack of any building instructions anywhere online. I'm still trying to figure out how to put the backpack/gun assembly for the Yan Huo HMC. The same with the Shaolin Monks. Lots of bits, no instructions, LOL. 4 heads, but not sure which ones go on which body!
Slowly but surely. Still having fun with it!

I know what you mean, Keezus! I keep having to stop myself from adding things, I ended up pulling right back on it near the end oddly enough, dropped down to one bust and I'll add a couple more things in Backerit. Before that I was about to buy it all but I just don't have a use for most of it, Kickstarter is the devil. Good job, Loki! At least someone around here is keeping the brushes wet! You not kept up the ole blog? I've just been wasting more time on photoshop because... reasons. I might redo these using the render, those arm sections are hell to recolour. I also think I'll end up using desert sand and olive drab rather than one or the other. I feel like the stock scheme is a bit cartoonish for Morats and I want to paint mine up with a bit more realism. So I tried out some more realistic skin and hair tones and added some racial diversity, I quite like how it came out. As much as a like the teal and aqua armour, I might use it for another project so I'll try a few more options next. I really don't need to post these here but it seems silly to wake up my blog for this and I want to record it somewhere.

Personal best - three and a half weeks, seven finished miniatures from metal to done. Started with Leila Sharif, since I really want to use her more. While painting here, I figured I might try to knock out a couple of really old models from my collection. So I grabbed the last two 1st edition Ghulam, the Hacker and HMG. As I neared finishing them, I decided to also knock out my three Hafza. As they neared completion, I decided to do my Al Hawwa Hacker. Then I decided that was enough and I really shoudl just finish painting them all.

I converted up some Shikami for my JSA.
I'd picked up another player's excess YJ a while back, and they included a Hac-tao and a Zuyong, neither of which I could use in my YJ, so I was proxying them as my Shikami ( HI) - since there was no concept art or idea of what they looked like.
Recently (Rumble on Rt66 or Adepticon) they showed dossier concept art for them. So I decided to try my hand sculpting some O-yoroi Hakama and kasa/jingasa (not sure which is more accurate) - conical hats onto these models to make them look more like what they are proxying as.
Contender on the left, combi rifle on the right.
Apart from that, my corregidor got some Banguars (they will be both my Jaguars and my Bandits, depending on need (there is a 5th with a glue-gun) that I'm still working on.
2nd from right can be light shotgun, combi or boarding shotgun - damn, his sword seems to have fallen off (standard nomad sword from the spec ops kit, I'm not a fan of the weird squared off machete thing the bandits have).
And I finished gun rack #1 for my Gecko Hangar. Holds 3 long arms - 2 combis and a mk12, and will have empty slots for whichever loadout my gecko has (so there'll be one with a single mk12 in it, the other will have two combis).

Decided to do Nomads for the FLGS escalation league. I painted the Mobile Brigadas a while back but had to spend some time this week and finish up the Aguiciles as well as 4 Die Morlock Gruppe and their Warcor friend. They were quite a hit with the other players. I was prepared to borrow some Morlocks I painted for a friend's Nomads since they're hardly ITC legal, but nobody complained and all the people I played against were very encouraging of the proxy Morlocks since they actually fit the Morlock fluff and statline so well.

ONE guy, just had to one-up me, though.
His table had EL wire lighting (that flickered, too) around most of the buildings. Trying to source a non fb video

Tables look fine. A bit sparse on medium to small scatter pieces.

Just finished up the Imperial Army starter, a counts-as Rui-Shi (the new aleph bot) and some extra Zhanshi to fill out my Yu Jing army for an ITS tomorrow. Need to proxy a few figures that aren't out yet, but should be fun times

Looks great - love the yellow/white/black limited palette.

Thanks, they did me proud today, too. Went major 10-0 victory over Merovingia in Frostbyte turn 1, major 9-1 victory over Tonguska in Looting & Sabotaging in round 2, and then lost to vanilla Haqqislam 2-8 in Highly Classified that would have almost certainly been an 8-2 major victory except time was called as we were finishing round 2 so we couldn't play out the 3rd turn. Still good enough to take 2nd place out of 11 players and had a blast doing it!
