I... I have finished a model! Basically we had a long run of really hot weather, which I hate painting in. Then an overload at work caused me a couple of weeks of stress migraines. Then we decided to adopt a puppy, which is always time consuming. But I've been chipping away a little at a time.
First Kum rider to his the (sandy) road. I was trying to figure out a way to make them fit into my colour scheme but also look individual. I settles on combat gear mostly matching my scheme, with their bikes all being painted different.
Whats still on my bench. That's the second rider with the blue bike. The rider is art way done. Then two converted female Kum (Maghariba Guard pilot and Lizard pilot), and Kasym Beg (missing his arms due to a mispack, which are making their way here as we speak). Plus my Sekban which I want to finish.
Pacific wrote: Did you manage to get the Ltd edition Penthouse mini (on chopper) to lead these bad boys?
No. I'm considering it, but I think 5 Kum riders will be enough. I'm not even sure if I want to grab the Zamarova twins, as I have two perfectly good proxies right now.
Though I'm sure the models will be fantastic and I'll buy them and Penny anyway because I have zero self control.
Yep the planters are always cool on Infinity terrain. Even lets us get away with the 'can't-possibly-be-the-right-scale' trees since they're the smaller kind they tend to plant in urban areas.
The shapes and colors definitely make me think Infinity. What will the surface of the board be like? Are you gonna paint or get some kind of material to cover it to give it a roads+city vibe?
For my personal taste, I think it could use some posters and/or graffiti on the walls here and there so as to look lived in.
But looks pretty awesome already in any case, great work
I would put some kind of mat or surface layer down as a base, and see how it looks. You can start adding grafitti and dirt as Grimdork suggests, but then you would lose the clean, clinical look you have now - although you may want that of course!
You need some form of VTOL aircraft or helicopter for the landing pad, otherwise think you are pretty much there
I haven't decided if I go urban streets or warehouse dock kinda vibe on that terrain yet. Makes decision making hard!
I'm thinking i might have to go half half, with like a urban road leading into a flat, road less dock full of big warehouse buildings maybe.
I was hoping to laser cut MDF tiles for this but the cost blows it out a bit (my local fablab has closed down for now so no free lasers) so yet to decide what I do. Pretty much most of my entire board is laser cut by myself so far.
my first Infinity model,i bought it to enter into a painting competition and finished it over the course of 2 days.
Due to time constraints it wasn't as good as i wanted to be and i was unable to do the base before handing it in (talk about last minute )
I also left the things on the side of his head of for style purposes (and totally not because when i clipped them of the sprue one of them jumped across my room an i couldn't find it )
NOTE: this photograph was taken for the competition (hence the number and store logo),the model has to remain in the store until the end of march so i can't take any different photographs until then.
Looks nice, love the shade of purple (and the shading itself) you have used for the cloak, and the bright blue of the sword contrasts nicely with the armour.
Very brave going for the Crusader crosses on the armour as well!
Very nice looking Cameronian I like how you painted the skin and fur.
I have finished Painting an ORC trooper painted just got the Nisse sniper left from the operation ice storms PanO figures.
Here are some pictures of the finished mini got some more pictures on my painting log here
Gorgeous stuff in here by everyone! I love infinity models! heres my contributions, i just finished the TAG and have posted those WIP pics elsewhere... Click to view better...the pics are massive ... sorry:/
Done in, essentially, four evenings. They still need a bit of work (hair, highlights on the face, bases) but otherwise I'm quite happy with them.
The PanO need something on the legs - maybe brown holster/straps?
I tried the old Duncan Rhodes Space Marine eyes trick for the PanO lights, but it hasn't come out well on the photo. Likewise, they're not actually that dark. They look much better in real daylight.
Whenever I get this move finished and I'm able to get all of my stuff sorted, I've got a few more of those jungle ruin Scibor bases. I'd like to grab a couple more Bagh Mari at some point and put them on those bases.
So I've finished a few models over the last few days for my burgeoning Force de Reponse Rapide Merovingienne.
Anaconda TAG - I'm not super confident in the effectiveness of this TAG, but it provides something most won't expect in an Ariadnan sectorial. I will have an Engineer Moblot with it for babysitting purposes which should help.
My first Loup-Garou,which totally aren't the GIGN. Not sure where they got the idea for the cape from, but the rest of these models, down to the shinguards are the exact same as what the Gendarmerie uses.
Dusted up the model to tie them in with the arid/desert theme I've been doing with these models.
My last Briscard - all glory to the Heavy Rocket Launcher on a model with an MSV 1. Camo, eat your heart out.
The gang thus far. Next: 1 "112" 4 Loup Garous, 1 Moblot and then my whole QK force, sans the two I've done up thus far to test my "City 17 Civil protection" colour scheme idea.
Pacific wrote: Well.. I think 'awesome' is the only word I can use here!
They've got a real 'Foreign Legion' vibe about them, not sure if that was your intent!
The Anaconda fits in really well with the other minis as well, doesn't look out of place at all.
You can't see it in the picture, but the Anaconda's sword arm has "LE" written on his wrist for "Legion Etranger." The camo is also copied from the current tropical dress of the French Army, more or less, using some of the Foreign Legion soldiers assigned to guard various "sensitive" parts of Paris I've seen ever since the Charlie Hebdo attacks, and on my morning commute through the Louvre since the attack in Tunisia.
They tend to give me the oddest looks when I'm looking over their uniforms, can't imagine why.
hey fellas! Major those models look fantastic. I love the realistic scheme, they look wind blasted and desert ready. Awesome. i finished my father knight, posted him to the showcase but also sharing here in case you don't frequent that blog Cheers fellows!
Just wanted to share a WIP with you guys. Basically stole Señor Giraldez' new PanO scheme. I like it, and my imagination when it comes to painting is really lacking.
It still needs a base, metallics need final highlights, OSL on the red details, markings and just some general touch-ups. Feels like it's only 50 % done when I list the remaining touches. Sorry for not waiting to post the finished product. It's very hectic at work, so painting time is extremely limited, and I'm super-impatient to share.
Well done, ckig. Not 100 % sure about the TMNT scheme. The combo obviously works, but not my preference, y'know? Keep them coming. Really like your Nomads, and I'm excited to see more Yu Jing.
Nice Aleph Thachng. Is that middle robot doing a fistpump in the air xD
And awesome spetsnaz Crazy Ivan. The colous look so smooooth.
Pacific wrote:Fantastic work, looks like a lovely colour combo, is that NMM you have used?
The photo is very poor though, think something that looks this good deserves a proper daylight bulb shot and something other than a camera phone!
I try to do NMM (not sure how well it turns out though ) most of the time because I tried my metallic paints and didn't really like them. I'm still a bit nooby at it but I'm working on it. My current approach is just: go all the way up to white and add lots of light :x lol.
I agree with you on the photo though haha . No arguments there . sorry for the crappy phone pics :( . I don't have a fancy camera atm and well, probably wont be getting one anytime soon lol. The daylight bulb is a good idea though, will probably look into it. ! also thought about making a light box thing but I don't have the space for that either atm : p.
Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks man! Yeah it's a love it or hate it combo I think. I wasn't sure about what colours at first; that green is hard to match imo. My alternative was red/gold instead of purple/gold or maybe blue/white, but I've been painting a lot of red already and blue/white is planned for my panO.
I recently bought Operation: Icestorm and I'm looking forward to getting a few games of Infinity with these nice new rules (N3 looks much better than N2 did). My painting isn't great, but I'm pretty happy with how the first few models are turning out.
lol, i'm sorry Pacific i don't mean to be rude :p
actualy it's a solid paint job that you've done and I'm sure it will look great with his fireteam buddies on the battlefield
@Grimdork It's an heavily converted Marut actualy, 4 to 2 arms, some auxbot antenna (cut in half) here and there and ko dali's backpack bits as ear :p
the difficult part is to move up the arms, it took me several hours, i dont advise you to try this conversion lol
AHh yeah. That explains why its significantly different. Fortunately, I don't really care much for Aleph and I'm actually a fan of far chunkier robots/mechs than most TAGS anyway so it's not big loss.

Haha I was just kidding about that, always a pleasure to see your work Sangarn!
The job you have done on that Marut is absolutely stunning! Beautiful combination of colours it works really well.
The surface (non road) is made up of squares of mounting board, sprayed with stone texture spray. Then they were over sprayed white with a hex stencil. Given a good coat of spray matte varnish and good to go.
The road (not on the picture) we used the woodland scenics asphalt road kit..... NEVER again lol. Next time we will make the roads out of either our own filler mix, or some other item. On a plus side for the woodland scenics, their black asphalt paint was good, it's just the filler was useless, and easy to damage, and the curb material was pathetic.
There's some truly amazing minis being posted in here! Kind of ashamed to post my efforts! First Infinity mini I've ever painted, the detail on these things is astounding! Also building up my terrain so I can have games on something other than the Operation Icestorm set.
Sometimes there's a crisis the everyday police just cannot handle on Nero-Terra.
Criminals who hi-jack TAGs, Yu-Jing infiltration groups raiding a high tech form warehouse, a secret Combined Army special forces team.
Simply waiting for the Capatiline Army to arrive, or the regular military forces would take too long.
Besides, this isn't their juristiction!
Who will protect Neo-Terra from this gang of crooks?
In times like this, who can the regular police force turn to?
The Central Organisation of Police Specialists.
Equiped with the very latest in tactical gear, for any situation! They'll defend their small piece of Neo-Terra against all the criminal scum who want to break the law there, human, alien or AI!
Carrying on with the theme of bikers, I've recently finished my first of six Kum bikers. First time trying SENMM to produce chrome, more of a cartoon look but it fits my more colourful style that I paint infinity with.
I know the bases are wrong for actually playing the game but these are primarily painted for display as I don't know anyone who plays so I went with the pill shaped style that I much prefer. His jacket was supposed to look like a motorcycle gang leather jacket with the club logo on the back.
The second Wip bike, chrome is nearly finished but the front purple panels still need finished. This will be for the other rider from the first set then I'll move on to one of the female models.
Mainly since they'll be on display rather than for gaming, I'm very much a painter first.
I also wasn't very keen on having very wide bases for quite low figures.
If I ever game with them I'll laser cut some larger bases that they slot into.
No problem, the blue half is a midtone of (MC) Azure blended up with (MC) Transparent Blue and down with (MA) White. The brown is (MC-PS)Tan Earth blended up with (GI) Skin Was and down with (MA) White. The parts are then edge highlighted with (MA) White on all the fairly sharp edges. All Vallejo paints.
Got my PanO starters all painted up. Not the best of pictures, the lighting is poor and makes the whites and reds look brighter. No basing done yet either, not sure what I wanna do, but will likely order some for them.
They look really nice Roleplayer, nice choice of colours.
I finished some more of my PanO ,minis today.
Just two left to finish then I'm all out of Infinity minis until my USAriadna starter set arrives some when in August. I need to practice painting their camo colours
o/~ Aleph,
We do what we must, because we can.
For the good of all of us.....except the ones who are dead.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake,
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done, and you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive. o/~
You stacked the power hubs... brilliant! I need at least one more Mototronica set then...
Your models are also excellent Ariadna looks like it should, good stuff there. Black Nomads are hella cool. And you've got a boatload of nicely painted panO, nice work
So yesterday I painted my first Infinity model. It's nothing special, especially compared to some here, but it's probably the 5th or so model I've ever painted and my first attempt at 2 brush blending so I'm fairly happy. I don't like painting guns so it's just grey, I might detail it later. And looking at it more it might need a further highlight on the red... But it took me about 7 hours to get it to that stage. But anyway, here goes...:

Spoiler:
Looks good! Some red ink on the armor and some light black (grey) ink on the metallics might help to bring out some more detail and give it more sense of depth.
It's how the suit is designed - the inside of the legs are a different part of the suit. So I naturally followed angels scheme and coloured it in a skin-like tan because dat ass.
Haha Loki.. I like that you are continuing the fine Kum rider tradition That's a great conversion though, not sure if I would have been brave enough to try that!
ImAGeek - Nice job mate, that's a great first miniature. Looks like you are neat with a steady hand, that and patience I think are something every miniature painter needs.
Pacific wrote: Haha Loki.. I like that you are continuing the fine Kum rider tradition That's a great conversion though, not sure if I would have been brave enough to try that!
It's not a hard conversion at all - it barely qualifies as one. She's in that exact position as standard, so positioned right she looks like she's getting on or off a bike.
The miniature though... beautiful sculpt, but I won't paint another one. The ribbing on the inside layers of the suit is ridiculously small and very hard to highlight.

Ah OK, fair enough! It does look good though.
Out of interest what happened to your previous classic 'jean-stealer' profile pic? This new one gives the feeling that all of your comments are being made with a kind of dis-interested sneer.
(of course, mine probably seem like they are being made by a fearful idiot!!)
Had a go at using the Giraldez book for something other than procrastination today and tried following some of the techniques. Pretty happy, only ever really used the airbrush for primer and base coating up to now.
Long way to go with these guys obviously (not least a shade and some hard edge highlighting) but a decent looking start, I think.
Here's my own humble offering, got a few reinforcements for my Nomads finished.
Hex, Spooky, and Envy.
I'm really liking the fabrics on them, and I love the custodier model. I tried some clear bases on some civilians I painted and wasn't too happy but yours look good.
Loki's Sekban is really nice too. I think I have the opposite problem where I paint too quickly, I can always see mistakes and bits I want to fix but because each batch of figures all have a consistent look, I end up not going back and redoing them.
I finished up a bunch of bounty hunters last night so I'll get some photos of them soon.
Nice bunch of paint jobs guys. Everytime I see the Jeanne D'Arc mini, I want it. But I don't play MO :(
Slow? After 3 years I have accumulated 92 Infinity minis (and baffled as to the how of it) and painted to completion all of 2. But I'm working on it. Details in my blog. Which contains all sort of Infinity goodness, like this WIP of the Reverend-Healer;
and these advertising lightboxes
Which make for some nice scatter.
Yeah, a shameless plug. Link is the center banner in my sig
Light boxes are great The healer is coming along really well too!
I think I'm more in the 'paint faster than I should and potentially regret it' camp as opposed to the paint to slow camp. I think my entire Nomad team is slated for a detail and potentially 'glowy lights' pass. We'll see when I'm feeling froggy enough for that to happen though. I think they look fine for the table though and they look pretty cool on my shelf so I'm happy enough with my results.
caylentor wrote: Loki's Sekban is really nice too. I think I have the opposite problem where I paint too quickly, I can always see mistakes and bits I want to fix but because each batch of figures all have a consistent look, I end up not going back and redoing them.
My issue is I tend to not like my stuff until it's finished. The way the layers and highlighting build up, plus the basing, I like the end result. But until it's done I tend to keep looking for problems and get discouraged, so I paint really slowly.
Where did they come from? I'd love to add a real Old Snake to my Ghulam, or even use him as a Hunzakut or Al Hawwa, and Gray Fox would be a fantastic Fiday.
-Loki- wrote: Where did they come from? I'd love to add a real Old Snake to my Ghulam, or even use him as a Hunzakut or Al Hawwa, and Gray Fox would be a fantastic Fiday.
I can answer that for you. They're made by Tales of War. Snake is called "The Last Soldier" and Grey Fox is called "White Fox." Tales of War also makes War and Death from Darksiders.
In the progress of repainting my Morat. Tried an orange and turquoise that never turned out as intended. Opted for the Giraldez theme instead. Not getting the green lamps (clashes imo), so I went with red instead. I am going with cracked earth instead of smurf planet for the bases. That piece will have to be touched up later with static grass and junk.
Got back into painting Infinity again finished working on some Irmandinhos. I like how the first picture came out looks like one of the Irmandinhos got caught in the act of hitting the other one in the back with his ccw
Those Irmandinhos are looking good Ivan, especially like the nmm on the knife/ machete. Reminds me that i have a couple of them as WIPs sitting around somewhere.
And Barzam what were the arms you used on the Hawwa BS conversion? Looks like a pretty natural swap.
Nice to see that mini in brighter colours and the combination of colours works very well.
You've done a good job on the leather boots and holster especially, looks very effective.
Thanks.
I took inspiration from the Arab and Indian cultures to lighten things up a little in palette. You can have the mixes of black against gold, fuchsias against brown. Here I used the red robe to complement the cream/white body armour. I also painted the robe over the waist. Exposed midriff would be silly.
As for the leather, that was less is more. I really had to hold back on layering and keep it subtle. I have brown boots and a belt and so could visualise it; I didn't want it to get too Tron like with the highlights.
-Loki- wrote:Nice to see more of that mini. My favorite in the range, and what got me to play the game.
It's the miniature that had me decided on Haqqislam. The female proportions are still Infinity but the posture remains strong. It's the straight back and head-up. Effective.
Edit: Oh, and Glaze Medium is brilliant. I can't paint without it now.
Started up a Morat Aggression Force along side my previous Military Orders. Just too many human players locally, several of which are also PanO, so I decided to represent the sweet looking Xenos Murder Monkeys. Waffled on a color scheme for awhile before finally settling on this one. Should be pretty obvious what's it's based on. ;D
Oh, and these are also my first based minis for Infinity. Not sure I like the colors on the base/pipe just yet so might redo/modify that yet still.
Those look great! Think the bright colour scheme works really well with them.
It's funny that the Morats are almost what Space Marines are in 40k, in terms of how they operate, who they fight for etc. (if you kind of look at it from a tangent)
Heheh, thanks. I used an airbrush, so painting whites is pretty much cake. The hard part is the pin wash, which is sloppy on this model because I didn't bother gloss coating it first.
Further work on my first Infinity model. I don't have an airbrush (as you can tell). The arm holds a rifle but it doesn't touch the ground. So green putty action soon. Then should be close to finished.
I like the Orc scheme, it's pretty similar to what I've been doing with my Nomads. I'm a bit less refined in my white though, as I just dip the whole thing. Gives it kind of a dingy look that I like though.
Batch number two of the UltraMorats painted up, this time being the SWC pack of the Vanguard. I decided the Hacker would be the Librarian (psyker) equivalent so I made his fancy shoulder pad a light shade of blue, and then photographed him at an angle where you can't really tell. ;p
Next up I plan to work on Anyat and some other Specialists.
I don't have a light box, so apologies, but some pictures of my Ariadna:
Irmandinhos and a SAS:
Frenchies - Moblots, including the little female Moblot, which I purchased begrudgingly.
Russkies - Usually all 3 Tank Hunters make it into my games, though the Autocannon will soon be replaced. He never really does anything and only gets his ass handed to him.
Excellent work, guys. This makes me even more excited for my stuff to finally arrive. It should be due any day now, so hopefully I'll have something to contribute very soon.
Hey guys, I just played my first game of infinity yesterday and it was A LOT of fun. It was Nomads (me) versus ALEPH. It was 150 points, Supremacy. Infinity lived up to the hype. Standard disclaimer: no model is finished here (i usually paint to 90-95 percent, and then batch paint this finishing features).
I love your Nomad stuff Those are some really slick bases, probably would have done something similar if not for clear acrylics. I like the bright, almost candy, red.
Those Ariadnas are cool too, the way you've done the dark/black and highlighted it, neat style.
Yes very nice, very clean and bright paint scheme and works well with the minis.
I like the idea of painting the front of the base as well, sure that's very helpful in the game! (and makes me think I really need to do something similar with my own).
@AesSedai : Those are some really nice Nomads! I love the red main color you have going with them, makes them a very cohesive force. Glad you're enjoying Infinity!
@NuggzthNinja : Hah! I knew you were familiar from another forum Shoulda known given your avatar.
Regarding the AC Tankhunter, I try to use mine in almost all my vanilla Ariadna lists. About half the time he does nothing, but the other half he is spectacular. He's killed so many models with his AP+EXP rounds it's not funny.
I used him in a tourney a couple weeks ago and he destroyed a Raicho in one order! He had missed shots on one order at it, then the next he hit with one, and crit with one.
The Raicho ended up failing 3 out of the 5 armor rolls he needed

Cheers!
Yeah that weapon is hilariously powerful. I think I've only ever had one unit survive a hit from that - a Mobile Brigada in cover - and everybody was shocked!
Maybe I just need to position him better. My issue has been mainly that in the reactive turn, he gets crumped by models that throw a ton of dice. In the active turn, you're throwing 2 dice against 1, and your odds of hitting aren't all that hot compared to the APHMG Tank Hunter.
For the same points, I can swap him out for an Antipode Pack (for killing TAGs and stuff) and an Irmandinho. Same number of orders, +1 specialist, a smoke launcher, and sensor. Maybe the better option? I dunno...but that's for another thread!
And she's done. First Infinity model complete (vanishing next). The bag the rifle is perched on would not touch the ground. So there's some green putty work at the bottom to fix that.
Spoiler:
Now starting on this guy. Early basecoat stages. Will be changing the faceplate to grey to allow the sword more room (will be attempting to use blending to add a burning/hot look).
Looks good ShaneTb I like the colour scheme and base. I have finished painting a Nisse with multi sniper rifle so now I have completed all my PanO operation ice storm minis. It was also the last mini that I made the mistake to undercoat with Army painter spray. It doesn't work well on metal minis it creates an almost plastic surface that the paint doesn't want to go smooth on, even with flow aid added it starts to pearl up I'm curious if someone else have had the same problem.
I've stopped using Army Painter sprays after they wrecked my Ariadna force. Since then I've moved to Vallejo. I never had any trouble with GW minis and the sprays so possibly there's something that just doesn't go well together?
Seems like it is army painter spray that doesn't like like metal minis I haven't had any problems either when I was using Gw and Vallejo sprays, lesson learned don't go for the cheap alternative .
I use krylon all the time and its usually pretty solid. I've notice when I airbrush on white from my minitaire collection its too smooth so I tend to rattle can anything that doesn't have terribly shallow detail.
That is just fething gorgeous. Nothing else I can say really !
Crazy Ivan - Can I ask what lighting setup you use for your pics? You always seem to have a very smooth and natural looking light in your pics, really shows the minis off nicely.
Crazy Ivan wrote: Seems like it is army painter spray that doesn't like like metal minis I haven't had any problems either when I was using Gw and Vallejo sprays, lesson learned don't go for the cheap alternative .
I've had zero problems using Army Painter primers on Infinity models. I stopped because the weather is rarely conducive with spray priming, so I went to brush on Vallejo primer.
GrimDork wrote: Yeah bright colors work great for Infinity which is why I'm painting my Pan-O bla... wait a second.. I think I'm doing it wrong
Oh well, the UltraMorats are great
Thanks! And I've got my PanO painted black as well a bit earlier in this thread. Here's the next installment of the Ultramorats;
Got the Specialists finished up for my Morat Aggression Force. Continuing with the UltraMorat paint scheme they're filling in various roles from the Ultramarines' roster, with my Hackers painted up in Librarian blue, Korgat Engineer in Techmarine red, and Paramedic in Apothecary white. Anyat was given the colors of a Veteran Sergeant. I've continued to not bring over any of the icons or badges and instead just painted their shoulders in the colors of the various rank icons they're filling.
Bonus note, the Paramedic is my first real conversion for Infinity, combining some bits from the Raktorak and an old Apothecary to distinguish him from the other Vanguard models.
With these I think I've also settled on the final colors for the basing, lightening it up from the previous black washed versions to a brighter/cleaner blue grey color. The steel pipes are still getting the black wash, and the fittings are getting an additional sepia wash for a light coppery shade. Lastly they all had a red stripe added to the front 180 of their bases to distinguish their firing arcs.
Pacific wrote: That is just fething gorgeous. Nothing else I can say really !

Thanks I mostly use daylight i also have a light tent for when i can't take photos in daylight bought one of these which comes with two halogen lights and a tent
Spoiler:
One thing that is important is to get the white balance right and the auto functions for that is not always very good so try the manual/custom option if your camera has that option. Also try different backgrounds a darker background seems to bring out the colours more.
@AduroT thanks i like your Morats the colour scheme fits them really well.
I've been painting. I've got a tournament tomorrow, and I decided to not only bring one of the least capable ITS sectorials in the game, Hassassins, I decided to bring a list with a bunch og stuff I haven't painted. And they have a 100% painted rule. So over the last 3 weeks, I've painted more Infinity models than I have the rest of the year. Including a few that intimidated the gak out of me. I introduced a new brown to my colour scheme due to some new details in gear I hadn't done before. The leather brown I do would have been too much everywhere. Photos are dark because I've just finished and it's 10pm and I'm tired and feth I have to get up at 7am to get there.
So, first up, some hacking backup for my Barid - a Ragik Hacker.
Next, a Lasiq Sniper. This model I was always afraid to paint because it's so nice. I don't think I did it justice, but I like the result except for the gun which I was rushed on.
Finally, some Ghazi. These models are so detailed, I was afraid to paint them at all. But I pressed on and got them done. The Jammers are a bit sloppy, but I was running out of time.
A bit of a repost of my stuff, but the models I finished the other night in some decent light. I generally take photos before the matt coat for some reason, so I never have the tufts on the bases. Now they do. Spoilered since they're basically reposts.
Took me over a year from picking up OI at Gencon 2014 to actually paint it up, but here they are ready for their protective spray. Also gave me an opportunity to finally pick up and try my hand with an airbrush
Thanks. The Pan-O were pretty easy to airbrush although I'm not sold on the point of light effect, so I think I might just use it for base and initial highlights in the future.
The Nomads were a bear with the airbrush...trying to find a red that flowed well without clogging took me a really long time, until I found Army Painter Pure Red worked very well, but it wasn't quite the rich shade of red I wanted.
All in all though, I absolutely loved painting these figures. The details are so crisp and well defined that you can really thin your paints down and layer without a lot of touchup.
What I've heard of some of the better/best painters (always subjective, of course) they seem to use the airbrush to a point and use the brushes as well. Kind of a tag team. For me, I have never had a chance to really get into using the airbrush steady enough to try out such techniques, I pretty well stick to base coating and get stuck in with the brushes.
I also don't turn out models that are quite so pretty
The PanO definitely have that 'hey we got airbrushed' look, but it's not a bad look at all, especially not for Infinity.
Still a bit of a WIP since I don't know what I want to do about the base and feel parts of her need to be a lot smoother, but since I'm running out of steam I thought I'd post her.
If nothing else I had a lot of fun with the hair using the PP guide for elf hair, comes with plenty of cool ways to do punk-ish coloured hair.
I have just finished painting my first Infinity minis. Some of the process went a lot better than expected, but the finish was not quite as good as I had hoped.
My first attempt at a glow (the LEDs) worked, and better than planned. My first attempt at eyes does not look as creepy as I thought it would The colours generally worked better than I expected, so I am confident to use a very similar plan for the special weapon Alguaciles.
I used too light of a grey when highlighting the black (eg around the boots). I will need to darken in a little next time to improve the look there.
The highlights on the clothing look more like the clothes are dirty than an attempt at highlighting. Not entirely sure what I did wrong there!
I attempted to imitate the way Angel Giraldez does the guns. It may look easy, but my attempt shows me that it is harder than it looks.
My first attempt at NMM does not even look like I attempted NMM I will have to go back to the examples before my next try!
I am not happy with the African skin tone. It was very much trial-and-error and there was a lot of error along the way!
I really wanted to follow the fluff of Corregidor being originally from Africa and South America. I had no experience in doing this, but I used online guides to get the basic idea. I also love how Angel Giraldez paints the Nomads with crazy hair colours and wanted to imitate that. I am mostly happy with the blue and green, but think I will slightly darken the pink next time.
I have now completed my special weapon Alguaciles too. I am happier with the black this time. Still not great, but definitely better. I need to darken the highlights on the African skin tone next time, and I am not happy with how I did the bald head. Still not happy with the highlights on the red. I think I am using the wrong colour for it, but am not yet sure what to do. I think I layed the glaze on a little too thick around some of the LEDs too, which I will need to keep in mind for future.

The Vallejo Game Color range has five skin tones. I usually pick two "adjacent" ones and use those as base and highlight colour. That gives me four different skin tones without even having to mix anything.
As for the red, that's an interesting effect. I'd perhaps use a more red-orange for the mid-tone highlight, but other than that it looks good. With mine, I tried to paint the fatigues and armour plates slightly differently to keep them looking like distinct textures. I went from red to orange and then added a touch of Dwarf Flesh as the final highlight.
For the plates, I used Bloody Red as a base, layered Bloody Red+Orange Fire over the raised surfaces, then used a Carroburg Crimson wash into the recesses. To this point I was happy with the effect. I used Bronze Fleshtone for the highlight and was not happy... perhaps Dwarf Flesh would be better? I will try that next time! Thanks for the suggestion.

I would suggest taking a look at Beast of Wars Romain tutorials that he posted on Middle East skin tones. He did a couple tutorial videos painting Kingdom Death miniatures that can apply. Part 1 - Part 2 They really helped me out a lot.
Oh sorry... I didn't realize they were part of Backstage. I can suggest what they suggest during some of their contests. Sign up for the free backstage trial (I think its like 4 days). Watch and get access to what you want. I'll try to keep an eye out for something similar though that isn't behind a paywall.
I've been playing WAY too much Steel Phalanx since the're all I had fully painted after selling my Nomads and stripping my PanO. Old cheme was too dark and was painted too quickly, new scheme is a lot lighter and a much less saturated blue, much happier with these guys now.
Plenty enough to play with for now, but i still have lots to do: 2 palbots and a doc to finish up, rebase my HVT in the O:I theme (they were based using Sedition Wars bases previously) and I need to assemble my Fusiliers SWC box, a couple Devas and Devabots and a Garuda so i can finally do Neoterra. Then I just need to finish the other 5 factions and all the terrain I own :(
They're an O:I poster glued to the top of a regular base, trimmed to match the bevel, then I airbrush in a shadow before pinning the model to the base and painting the edge black. I used to do it for my Star Wars repaints and quite like the effect, especially since I have the MAS mat
Most recently, I have been working on a Moderator, this time with a slightly different set of techniques. He's still pretty early-on in the process, but I thought that it might be good to get some critique. Oddly enough, this might be my favorite miniature that I own right now. In a world of mechs, powered armor, alien invasions, bizarre body modifications, and virulent hacking, this is just such a normal guy. He's pretty scrawny, and even his slacks are too long for him, hence they're rolled up at the bottom. I guess that it could be a self-portrait of sorts, so I intend to use him as my Vortex in future games.
(the lighting did some weird stuff to the colors, but I've painted a red stripe in lieu of a white one to add some contrast to the model. What are your thoughts? Should I revert it back?
@youidiotkid: Is that a Koala on the Alguacil hacker's chest?
I just finished my Tomcats. My favourite unit in the game, based on concept alone. Aerial Deployment rescue team? I ended up picking Nomads purely because of that! These guys were an interesting learning exercise. Lots of black, some white sections, the LEDs on the helmets (a little different to the communicator LEDs). I think I am getting closer to having the red highlights right thanks to AndrewGPaul's suggestion. I need to lighten the mid-range grey on the black, and darken the highlight grey on the black, but that was definitely closer. I am not getting enough definition on the white. I started with Ghost Grey and worked to white, but I think I will darken that a little next time I do white. Still not getting those highlights on the guns right. Angel Giraldez makes it look soooo easy! I am confident had the right *idea* for the LEDs, but my hand kept slipping. More practice! Not so sure I needed those white highlights on the helmets, now that I look at the photo. I think they would have looked better without.
I have just painted my first Mobile Brigada and my Zondcat. I had a problem with them where the wind picked up the box I had them in to prime and smashed them into the garden, breaking them appart at the joins. I found most of the pieces, but not one of the antenae for the Brigada. When I reglued, I used a spare PanO antena.
A few slips here and there, but I am mostly happy with how they ended up. I attempted to freehand the white lines present in the Brigada concept art. Not perfect, but for my first ever attempt at this kind of thing I am fairly happy with the result. Not sure white-white was the right colour to use, however; probably a very pale grey would look better.. When I get the Mobile Brigada box and paint those four I should be a little better. You cannot see it in the photo, but I tried to paint 'chipped' paint near the PanO antenna to create an impression of the helmet being damaged and the PanO antenna being a field repair. The area is so small you probably could not tell if I did not point it out. I attempted to create a metalic look on both of these models. I did not achieve it, but I think I had the right plan in mind and just need more experience to execute it properly. In hind-sight, I probably should not have added the white points of light onto the debris the Brigada is standing on, but otherwise I am fairly happy with the rusted/corroded look I managed to achieve there.
I'd really love to get a list of colors he used and try this for my Pano. If I did it I'm sure all of your grandchildren would enjoy my posting pics. (yes, I'm slooooow!)
It's been a while since I've posted but I've now finished my USAriadna. I've lost my camera so I've had to use a tablet to take photos, so please excuse them!
That's really awesome I like the dark+camo, I stuck a lot closer to the original scheme with mine out of simplicity.
You've got a bunch of them, I assume some of them are older models, did you get some extra current grunts and repose them as well?
I guess I'll post mine too while I'm at it
Family Photo
Here's a gecko I did and haven't shared yet, scale shot with devil dog team... I need to add some color variation to the tactical rock of the antipode, keep forgetting =/
Here's one that highlights my shoddy free-hand, but I'll still say that I'm better today than I was when I started the USARF so that's a good thing.
And here's several more for good measure:
Spoiler:
I really liked working on the USARF army box, nice models that were easy and fun to paint.
Yeah, I got some extra grunts and a foxtrot from Shae. There's a few swaps - a dozer with a weapon from the starter foxtrot, a Kazakh doctor with a Grunt headswap, a grunt with an (old) foxtrot headswap (I tried to put a new weapon on the old body but it just looked silly) and an arm from the spec ops on the airborne ranger. There's also a Hasslefree pilot and foxtrot (the kneeling one with the hat) who has a grunt rifle. The dog is shamelessly stolen from someone's Haqqislam I saw on the official forums ages ago.
You have some really nice freehand on those figures - I cheated and used 15mm decals!
Your clear bases also look really good with the scenery there, that bridge is fantastic. I wish I was better at scenery :(

Serious question, as I only starting assembling/painting minis about a year ago. Are painting bases mandatory? Because I see all these minis with really nice bases and think, that's a good way to lose the rest of my hair o.o;

No, it is not mandatory.
But if you find joy in designing your own base theme do it. In most of the cases it'll improve the look of your miniatures, except you put severed bloody body parts on your bases that is disgusting grimdark GW stuff!
In ITS games this is mandatory, if you only play private games it is still really helpful for both players. Also it might prevent occassional table flipping by hot-blooded players

So, I thought I had a goodly amount of Infinity terrain. Turns out I need more.
Looks like I need a few more small buildings and a good whack of scatter terrain for a full table before I can start diversifying the building types. I've got 4 MAS dumpsters and I think 8 of their tech crates, plus a bus stop and the MAS billboards, but I think I'll need a few of the antenocitis cars as well for some good partial cover spots. Contemplating another Warmill foodbooth as well, my FLGS has the donut hole one that I wanted.
GrimDork wrote: Good white is no joke but I can't help getting sidetracked by shinies.
So Bran's staff might distract you from some weak painted spots on Bran, I'll call this success
@Loki: nice Buildings! Looks like several manufacturers there, the garage (and mat) is by MAS, that's for sure. But I have no clue about the rest... I found a really good way to produce masses of scatter terrain you'll only need styrofoam and a hot wire cutter. Just cut that stuff into dice of about 23mm (Small MAS crates) edge lengh, that's terrain you can literally scatter without worries about smashed other terrain.
The two square buildings are apartments from BPLaser, an Australian company. The two large rectangular buildings are a Sarissa Precision Warehouse and Commercial Pod. The L shaped building is a Warmill Surgery Shack, the small building in the corner and the small rectangular building next to the garage are a Warmill Foodbooth and RIBD bar.
I want another Warmill Foodbooth or ORB to stick in the lower right corner as they're both pretty small, and I have an unbuilt BPLaser bus stop to go on the top left. Then I just need scatter terrain. Once I have the full board, I'll look at getting different buildings for variety. I really want the ZEN Terrain police station. Plus some taller terrain so TAGs aren't instantly visible.
The Police station by ZEN is really nice, I have their Biker Bar with interior which was easy to build! To be picky, the doors are slightly too low for S2 models though.
And if the Police Station has the same height like the Biker Bar it should be sufficent enough to hide a TAG behind
Just finished up this chap, pending client approval, his buddy will be up next, some time next week if all goes to plan.
The request was for something a little more weathered and gritty than most Infinity, so right up my alley! Can't say I had a great time assembling the minis, but he was fun to paint up.
The pilot's arms were the worst part. I glued my fingers to the arms, the body to my fingers, the arm to the table, the glue bottle to the body, every which way but actually getting the arms to attach to the body, and nothing but the body! I'm kind of terrified to pick up and paint the second one now, for fear that they'll just drop off...
I wanted a TAG for my JSA but I don't like the evangelion inspired schoolgirl piloted O-yoroi that's out there.
(I'm aware I'm probably in the minority over my loathing of that show).
So I bought the new Guija and set about converting it to suit.
I cut the back hoop thing off the gun and filed the remainder down, since it was going to be holding it. This also necessitated carving a replacement bit.
Not a fan of the hook sword, tbh. A bit of chopping and filing, and I had a more traditional straight blade. A bit of a bend, the addition of an octagonal tsuba carved from the same 2mm plasticard as the back hoopy bit and some putty to form a new hilt (from the tapered original) and it was more "Japanese" looking.
Still in progress. Basic blocking has been started.
I have a basic "rising sun" on the left pauldron also.
I can only do it in stages as my eyes get dry and sore (I have dry eye syndrome and when they dry out, the corneas start to get abraded by my eyelids, this leads to everything going fuzzy) then I have to stop and apply lubricating gel drops and let them work.

I have the same thing (though mine seems to be seasonal, it's not too bad in the spring/summer) and it's a real pain. One of my friends has it even worse, he has a severe skin reaction to acrylic paints!
I'm going to be working on my Nomads soon and I'm looking for some bits - what's the best source for the re-designed Nomad weapons? Particularly combi-rifles and boarding shotguns.
I don't have the little glands in your eyelids that secrete the gunk that slows the evaporation of tears (and makes the gunk in your eyes when you wake up).
Looked it up - I'd still need to use the same drops regardless, so it looks like a case of overcomplicating things for no added benefit, really.
(Opthalmic surgeon didn't mention it, and he's the top-guy in my region). When I did scratch the corneas a couple of years back as a result all it needed was some medicated drops and corneal bandages (which are optically transparent) for a week or so.
Drops 2-3x a day does the job well enough for me. I had the same optical prescription for over 20 years, though ... so I'm way behind the curve on it (my hobby actually helped me plateau my vision ... constant exercise of the lens muscles and all that).
