A fun one to paint for my first tank

Post by: Archer
Don't you know your first tank should be a rhino that you spread the paint on with a spatula so think it loses all detail and becomes an offering to Nurgle?
Not this beautiful creation? So utterly jealous. I am suffering serious hobby funk at the moment and your results are helping me much.
So what's next for me to be jealous at?

Lol. Cheers Archer. I'm sure I'll do a rhino some day! Right now am finishing up another two SH termies. They're just about done save all the jewels........blood Angels Urgghhhh - lords of the bling!

So pleased to see you in WD mate! Well deserved. If you lived just a little closer to Nottingham I am sure they'd be trying to get you down to do a feature on the army!
Tank looks great too. Really good in fact. I love the subtle lightning that's dancing over the coils of the gun (which too, is scratch built IIRC from your WIP shots!).

Post by: Januine
Cheers Bottle. Was a nice wee surprise to get photos in the mags.Happy how the tank turned out. Think that design of tank suits the AdMech aesthetic pretty well....reminds me of the Onager Dunecrawler but the front gun was a little meh so I scratch built a lightning cannon.....much cooler!!! Basically just a cut down gel pen and some other bits!! Try and get some proper photos taken later this evening

'Course as the dracosan is incredibly old and second hand for the Rangers (at least) it's gonna need a enginseer to keep it going. Enter Adept Jajjung-Na. I actually really like this sculpt. I know a lot of folk moaned that he's a bit static and just ambles forward scowling but I think he fits the bill nicely!!!

Jeeeeze, the blogs really are on summer vacation if a model as exquisitely painted as that gets a solitary reply. The rust is stellar on it, such good, natural looking painting and the additions such as the Skitarii gunner serve to set it off further.
The Engineseer is a cracking sculpt, cannot wait to see what you do with it Jan.

Thx very much T. Really am happy how the dracosan came out. Think she fits perfectly in with the rest of the ranger squad which was what i was really hoping for. I know it's really supposed to be a 30k solar auxillIa vehicle but I think it fits fine with the 40k skitarii. Like the forgeworld unearthed it from some long forgotten battle site and brought it back to life and service

Adept Jajjung-Na? Haha - you should give all your unit Korean names. Maybe the tank could be "no-jam" as I am sure your students love saying to you when you threaten to take away their smartphones if they don't stop playing Pokemon Go. :-p
Anyway, love this model and almost bought a Leman Russ just for it! (Thank god they now sell it seperately). And I have sung the tank's praises enough but I expect to see it gracing the pages of an upcoming White Dwarf now I have a subscription starting. Looks utterly fantastic mate.

Tanks very much all (worst joke ever >< I'm going to get one or two of the FW Mechanicum tanks aat some point like the explorator but some of the FW SA tanks really fit in nicely with the aesthetic (and fluff) of how I've been doing my own homebrew forgeworld. So one or two more reclaied SA tanks in the future being added is not unlikely Warhound Titan will be getting done first. Still trying to come up with a Legio name/livery and a name for the Titan too. I have time yet as won't be getting it in hand till December
Cheers Bottle - knew you'd get that joke ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ My girls know better than to bring their phones to class. Most of the homeroom teachers collect the phones in at the start of each day anyways. Mercifully there is no Pokemon Go here in Wonju. The only place in Korea you can play it is over by Sokcho on the east coast where I used to live. Rest of Korea is Pokemon No! Folk here are facestuck to their phones enough as it is.
Hummed and hawed about getting a subscription to the new WD (still thinking kinda) but its acc the website its 100GBP (about W150,000) for the rest of theworld which would make it more expensive than just picking up a monthly copy in Seoul. Shame really as I was going to go for it if I could order at the british price and make the savings. Ah well
Once this tech priest is finished think I'm going to do a full pic of my AdMech Taghmata as it's' actuallly quite a size now. Takes up two shelves in the cabinet at a squeeze! Still a lot os stuff I want to add to it yet though. Must get the start collecting box so I have a dunecrawler (which I think will go really well alongside the Dracosan) as a command vehicle and a squad of vanguard too.

Post by: Bottle
Cannot wait to see a pic of the whole force together, it should look very impressive. I would also love to see your take on the Dunecrawler. If you got the Get Started have you thought what you'd do with the second Dominus? I really like some of the Inquisimunda conversions the Ironsleet guys do by flipping the body around so that it becomes a tall figure with a flowing trail.
And it sounds bliss having a homeroom teacher to take the phones off them. I remember back when I was a hagwon teacher and the joys of getting students to stop playing minecraft at the start of lesson haha.

Post by: Januine
lol. Girls High School Bottle - Big classes but they are trained! Discipline is never an issue with my lot. The worst thing I have to deal with it is the odd student sleeping in the back of the class.
2nd Dominus will definitely be getting converted.......not sure to what or how yet.......but yeah - loving some of those Inquisimunda convs. If you havent checked out IronSleet yet.......do so. Think you'll realy like.

I've been seeing your stuff from afar but never time to comment! As has been stated - far too few comments for such a great bit of hobbying going on here. The tank looks great, you did a superb job on it. The enginseer will fit in really well with the aesthetic of the force. Out of interest, have you any idea how you would incorporate those in to a playable force? Ie do you need to use them as "counts as" or because of the ally matrix will they just fit in that way? Just interested.
91816
Post by: Januine
Fit in as in for a rules allowed playable force? Not really thought of it that way. I think more from a story and fluff view. With the Dracosan - it's a could they field such a vehicle fluffwise - the forgeworld are reclaimers - they travel about looking for lost tech that was damaged/destryed in some conflict which they then reclaim, repair, rearm and then reuse. A 40k forge digging up old tanks, automata and such to bolster their forge's taghmata - makes sense to me and fits the (well, at least my idea of) whole AdMech faction. Rule of cool and all that. Whatever they reclaim though I could see them upgrading a bit. Dracosan usually has a twinlinked lascannon as its main gun......I could see the cogbiys looking at that and thinking.....yeah ......we can do a little better than that.....have a lightning cannon instead

Lol. Yeah - sure would love to get them fielded and fighting some day. Most of their rules are in the mechanicus red book fromFW - the thanatar for example. I do also eventually want a couple go big squads of tech thrall covenant. Great meat shields those boys!!

Gorgeous detailing on the cockpit Jan. Love the flaking paint on the rear section.
It's funny how the colour you've chosen for his robes seems to make him look more "real". To clarify - a lot of our hobby is coloured for the sci-fi edge which is often a little garish. You've done a great job here if picking a tone that is very in keeping with the German officers of the Eastern front from the Second World War mixed with the armour of a decade earlier. Your colour choice is one of your greatest talents
