Cheers dudes, to be honest i'm really glad you all replied, I was concerned that this platform was dying out and no one would be here anymore! especially after such a hiatus :-) but you all proved my fears unfounded.
I have been playing with my 'poofy' dogs but that's a daily task at my place, and when I haven't been playing with them I've been painting and working as normal. There's probably a bunch of stuff I have done this year but haven't taken pics of so hopefully I can at least try and get on here more again.
I have indeed been playing around painting up terrain for Necromunda and even started painting a new gaming board design for it. More to come soon.
Hi guys, I thought i'd pop in and show you a new model I know I've been m.i.a this year but that's due to a multitude of things going on and not least that fact that the models that I've been painting pretty much consistently have been my normal pretty standard style and level which I kinda think you would get sick of nothing really new, same metals, same reds, same colours.
I want to start to post again but only show things I have learnt or pushed myself on or new techniques I stumble across, that being said I wanted to make a decent Ambot model look like a mix of the ABC Warrior from Judge Dredd had a baby with a tonka truck
I now present the D-16Y Soichiro pattern Mining and personal protection automata,
Nice conversion, I always thought that the ambots looked very ABC warrior like...
If I recall correctly, the one in the Stalone film is based off of Hammerstein, who had a hammer for a hand, perhaps a future conversion?
How bright are these!? well, very Just finished up these very unique Tau models for a mate of mine to fill out his force I have done a bunch of his big robot suits previously but I'm sure not everyone will remember them, these bulk it out nicely and were painted the same layering/wash style I used before. I have been informed that I have numerous troop choices still to look forward too.
hope you are all doing o.k and still keeping the dream alive with your own models

My thought as well, still well done make them acceptable. I think it works well on the troops and non robot figs.
Great opportunity to paint clean lines without painting marines.
Angry short body builders. lots of them..... very short and very buff, even one in a helicopter!
And in actual news I finally realised that my photo's and computer work is always slightly blurry because I have cataracts and am booked in for surgery on my left eye which is considered blind and my right is o.k for now. I'll keep ya posted
Not sure the pick axe guys are even viable in combat being their weapons pick are pointing backwards. Your Metallics are super good. Lots of beard painting..
Thanks guys, you always buoy my sprits, I'm honestly happy that I have a fixable issue as I've been struggling with my painting and how my eyes feel, especially looking back at past models I've done and I know that I can paint like that but couldn't work out why it was taking me longer to get a result I was happy with.
Hopefully by February I'll be much more focused
And tau. And the drwaves, which annoyingly remind me that I still need to paint up one half of the Battle for Skull Pass - goodness knows how long I have had them primed
Count 'em, 2 (two) Leviathan Dreadnoughts ready to spill blood and collect skulls for the Blood God! first thing i've done for my Khorne army in a long while, hopefully it'll spur me on to finish the army up soon! I ran out of varnish so the decals look a bit crappy but it shall be fixed, I was just excited to show you stuff again I've got some Flesh Hounds to paint up that look pretty enticing!
I love Leviathans, and especially converted Leviathans, and especially especially converted Chaos Leviathans
These lads don't disappoint, plus I appreciate how understated the CHAOS! levels are. I could have used maybe some spikes on shooty boi #2, but I can see he's more about wearing his trophies as a tasteful bonnet than he is slapping them up top where they can get blasted off. Makes sense, when you think about it.
Thanks guys, I managed to get another small bunch of khorne goodies painted! some Flesh Hounds and a Bossletter, my friend Alex has been pestering me to get more done so it'll change up the narrative when we play next! should be on the table in another week or so
darkkt wrote: these guys are outstanding - love that realistic flesh/skin work you've done here. Makes these models far more terrifying than you normally see!
Thanks man! that was my idea to make them pale and fleshy which is just scarier to see in my opinion look at the Pans labyrinth monster, that dude was terrifying.
This is unheard of recently but 3 posts with pics in a week!! I just finished the first of my Corpse Grinder cult models, this guy was really because I loved the idea of him, an Ogryn worshiping Khorne? or maybe just too stupid to care? he gets to chop stuff and squish things so he's pretty content I looked at old abattoir images and have gone with a dirty soaked vinyl look to his coveralls which goes nicely with his doesn't get any sun complexion
That skin is beyond gorgeous. Lovely depth and tones, utterly fantastic mini, oozes character.
Disagree with Insaniak, tho. He's definately a Reg. Maybe Reggie to a couple of close mates. Refers to himself in third person and can't quite pronounce the letter "r".
Greetings again guys! today I have my finished Necromunda Corpse Grinder gang finished to show you, now, I have to say I was having a bit of trouble with my sight when I was taking photo's so they're not as good as i'd hoped but still give you a look at them I tried to keep a muted colour palette and make them bloody and dirty without going overboard, again I wanted the same abattoir style look as the Ogryn with the white vinyl gloves and suits, I really like how these boys turned out, especially how nasty and pale their faces are with yellow teeth and sunken eyes!
My mind's blown at Corpse Grinders with faces, way to inject a huge load of character into the gang (and props on the spooky headswaps on the juves, which are otherwise terribad). Love the white uniforms against the Nerdfest trademark metal, and the Ogryn is a wonderfully understated conversion of that cool but wtf busy kit
Thanks as always my dudes! I've got some cool stuff to paint on the way (8 Bloodbowl teams!) and a rather exciting Nerdfest project that starts early in the new year! please guess and lets see if anyone can get it right! ?
Automatically Appended Next Post: Another little thing I've been playing with, a bust! I've not painted a bust before and found it quite fun to do! I would do things a bit different if I painted it again but I'm pretty pleased with how he looks the plinth was from the base of an old pewter drinking cup, just removed from the main part and it's bloody spot on for this kind of thing
And now a FiretruKK Orks aren't the brainiest when researching the vehicles to imitate so instead of water they've filled the back with promethium and ordered a Grot to sit on an unstable barrel and torch anyone who's near! I think we'll have a Tow Trukk next
And now I have two things to show you firstly something Imperium in the guise of high Marshall Helbrecht followed rather quickly by a rather crazy Ork flying a Dakkajet!
Hey fella's I'm good and really happy to see you still kicking it in Dakka! I don't have a computer so my access has been pretty much nil, phone's too small with my bad eyes nowadays. I am still slogging away painting thousands of models and still enjoying it weirdly! hopefully this year I can set up a computer and camera and do some videos for the tube :-) I have a channel which is Nerdfest09 and I've uploaded a few videos of basic slide shows of some work if you wanted to check it out. it's pretty cool.
I'll try and drop by a little more regularly this year when I can. :-)
