Space Skaven project is progressing slowly- got something like 600 new rats recently added to the pile and though I've mostly been working on a lot of WFB this year I have been dipping in and out of the rat refresh & 'project modernising' in between painting a lot of the oldhammer stuff.
The project is coming along nicely, if slowly, though I really really want to get on and build them the city terrain I have planned because then they will gear me on to more paint stuff faster as I'll want to play some games then! (My old terrain is now well past its use by date)
I couldn't hold off building some more of the legions models for them though. I am in love with these kits.

Left some parts off as I'm still messing with what other rats I'm going to add for crew. Also working on adding more Leman russ's to the force, had originally planned to only use a handful as I had so many older alternatives but I can't help but keep building more of the legion versions. The older ones might all get pushed back to my original nurgle traitor guard now.

I hadn't realised that Albertorius - hopefully whoever runs Mighty Minis had agreed some sort of license for sale in the UK! He has (or had) a few different Aspect Warrior-type minis for sale.
I try to use Vanguard where possible, but the range from them does not cover everything.

Patrols met under the onslaught of the tyranid invasion and quickly escalated as marching columns started pouring into the city. The situation quickly dipped to Mechanicus' favor, as they got their big guns onto the field and incessantly pummeled the xenos as they tried to escape the traffic jam at their deployment area.

Ideally the GW kits, but I guess any scheme for the same rough scale could be adapted.
Prime and paint the building black. Choose a color tint (like brown, red, green, blue, yellow). Mix that color with grey and start overbrushing the building (like drybrush, but some water still in the paint). This leaves some black shadows in recesses
When done, mix in some white or biege and drybrush or overbrush, but strokes going from top towards bottom. Add some blotches of secondary color. In picture I added some brown miscolorings to the green.
Final drybrush with white or biege (same as you chose before).
Optional: Then paint some details with standard layering or prefered methods. This can add some visual interest. In my example, the dome roofs, banners and the door,

I used a 0.7mm bit to drill the Predator cannon. This is not a brag. This is more of a what-am-I-doing?

Thanks! The Baneblade is indeed a print, designed by FASIS, you can still find it on Cults. They have both Lucios and Mars versions, but as you I liked the Mars more ^^.
As to the ogryns, they are indeed the old 40k minis, a colleague scanned them and I printed them at itty bitty size, because I always loved the ol' lugs.

But thanks to Battle Bunnies, found a vid on a straight forward scheme, and the results speak for themselves.
Plus, I’ve already hit target at work (as of yesterday), so chances of Sneaky Hobby Time tomorrow are pretty high. Just got two planned phone calls and a letter to write.

Cheers bud, I've had my space skaven force for a long time now but its showing its age and its in need of modernising and being brought up to the sort of 'legions' standards. The old version contains a lot of 1980s and 1990s sculpts which I love and will probably continue to see use but are lacking when surrounded by all the modern plastics.
Not to mention there is just a lot of kits that I just want to add to the force anyway, which are far more suitable! I had to use a lot of get me bys over the years! Now I have proper rat models and 'proper' 40k sculpts I can add. I will be sad to retire some of the old models though, but some of them just need to come to the end of their service at this point!

The patience for those windows is outstanding. I'm very likely to loose my patience doing the windows when I get around to doing mine and resort to having mine all being 'burnt out' (ie remaining black) for laziness

I seem to have misplaced the rocket pods, but thankfully have more ordered this morning to replace them (though they are bound to resurface the day the new ones arrive!).
More buildings. Using up what’s left in hopefully new and interesting ways.
That being said? The middle sized sections I’ve a fair few of. Those I think I’ll keep to a simple 2x1x1 layout, to represent Hab Blocks or similar, smaller buildings. Once done, I reckon I’ll have around enough to reasonably populate half a 6x4 Board, once you allow for roads, alleys and other such spaces.
Reckon I can squeeze out another low building, and two or three middle height. This is a very flexible kit, as the low and medium sized panels can be stacked, with only the large ones (due to a larger footprint) being strictly for the bottom.
The spires can also be done as stand alone pieces, but I feel they work best as part of a larger complex to really get that Titan obscuring height, without using up loads of bits.
Yup. Three smallish buildings, and a third low level one.
So out of a single Civitas Imperialis Administratum Sector, I’ve squeezed a total of 11 large buildings, and 6 small. Which should comfortably populate around half a board I reckon, without looking too sparse. But of course all to your own tastes. The bigger you build, the fewer individual pieces you’ll get. The lower you build, the more you’ll get, but the more repetitive your board will look.
And because I have so many floor pieces left over? If building high, do use them to internal brace your building. My two larger ones are a bit wonky, because I didn’t do that, fearing I’d be left with too few.
@mad doc love that terrain more than what GF9 came out with. i really liked the stuff vanguard used to carry in 3 and 6 mm but i have not seen it in ages it was made for epic 40K. i have one of the sets with a radar tower/multi-level building complex.
Not familiar with GF9’s terrain, so can’t comment.
Currently completely stymied on further progress until Wednesday, as I conspired to run out of Plastic Glue and Zandri Dust spray last night.
But, I’ve got Thursday to Sunday off work, so should be able to get all this painted, and some ruins, by the end of the week.
I would buy more terrain, but I need to get an idea of what I can do with the two ruins sets I have first. Whilst it’s true you can never have enough terrain? Having too much of the same terrain is very possible.
And I do want some classic “flocked polystyrene hills” type stuff.
Anyways, work continues apace, as I managed to squeeze out the very last of the Zandri Dust, completing the two buildings. They’ve since had their Wraithbone zenithal, and MSG on the roofs and slating.
From here, it’s silver and copper greeblies, wash and done.
I finished up my Warlord Titan for games of LI and let's face it, mostly Titanicus (the better game) and I'm fairly pleased overall, especially with the crashed Lightning, as it matches my SA scheme and the white weathered up really well.
Picked up the Titan Battlegroup Box that went on preorder so I'm keen to wrap up my Legio Atarus with the Warlord and Reaver, while the two warhounds will likely end up being a traitor legio of some description (Audax maybe?)

Two group shots. First a “glamour shot”. The second is it artfully arranged atop the Magic Box O’Stuff, which measures around 4’ x 2’. That should give you some idea of the coverage a single set can achieve.
You could get more if you don’t build as high, and of course less if you build high.
Buildings look great Doc - and really helpful to get a sense of what you can do with a whole box too.
I've gone down a different terrain related tangent since the weekend - luckily I checked my pile of shame before putting a pre-order in on Saturday and realised I already had two of the regular sized Manufactorum sets (one from the original AT release!). I also had my Mundus Imperialis pre-order arrive!
I've got a couple of different painting projects on the go atm, this Ignatum Dire Wolf and a test Warhound for a small Legio Solaria force I'm planning to do next.
Bit of gaming ADHD though, so have had a bit of a go building some of the Manufactorum kit and also setting up a table with that alongside a few 3d prints and the new Mundus Imperialis buildings. This is just a 3x3 so plonked it all down just to see what it looked like rather than as a actual game or anything but though you might like to see!
I'll put the rest in spoiler tags, but hopefully gives you a sense of the size of the Mundus stuff in comparison. I quite like them, particularly the big factory (a Warlord can - just - see over the top of it). Slightly disappointing that the actual paint job doesn't look as good as that was advertised or on the book - which I think is a first, for me anyway, with GF9 pre-paints? Really just missing the wash over the metal parts I think which won't be hard to add though.
On the manufactorum, thats all the big bits from two boxes but not all the small bits yet. I hadn't really seen much point with the pipeline bits for Titanicus, other than decoration but for Legions Imperialis/Epic they actually will provide cover/obstruction for infantry and small vehicles which is neat - I built the first box worth as per the instructions and been playing around a bit more with the second set, only annoying thing with it really is there is no "T" junction piece for the piping which is a shame.

Just realised I didn't photograph the other end of the big Mundus factory - has the large doors one end and a window on the other which would also arguably benefit from having the window details actually painted in.
Tragedy in three acts: 3k NetEA Imperial Fists vs. the Machine Church, Reinforce the Right (GT scenario with three waves of troops and randomised deployment areas). The central firebase of the cog-boys proved too tough to crack for the astartes who arrived far from their main objectives and though the battle hung in balance until the very end, eventually the grand magos led their taxi-deprived and thus slowly stretching column of servitors and priests deep into the enemy rear.
Do note the Fists' Devastators' laudable camouflage exercise "Operation Atlas".
Anyone fancy helping me in a, currently hypothetical, how to get geared up to play Legions Imperialis?
Only given its dinky scale, most will need a new set of terrain just for that. I’ll be showing off GW’s kits, and explaining how many of each went into my collection.
Figure it will help folk get an idea of preferred/useful density and variety, and potentially cost.

Finally found enough time to finish off my first Javelin unit, took far too long and at this rate I will be lucky to get it all done in time for the Bac-Con.
Back at the coal face today, finishing off build the second set of the first box of Civitas Ruins.
Got to say, I’m impressed at how much comes in a single box.
The scatter terrain though I think is going to be best off jazzing up home made wreckage for buildings destroyed during a game. They’re pretty light, and in the second picture you can see they’re just going to tempt the dice into an impromptu game of tiddly winks of not used as part of a wider piece.
My plan is to get some thinnish (2mm maybe?) plasticard, trace round the foot print of my Proper Buildings. Cut those out, and garnish with some textured paint, these ruins and some little chippy stone type things.
The other thing I really like about the Ruins is the varied shapes and wall heights, which will encourage clever use in-game.
Should be getting some games in in the next few weeks. Contacted a local gaming club (well, I say local, a 40 minute drive away) and looking to arrange a drubbing.
Note that the plan is for each of the above model to come both with and without the jump pack. Thing is that there aren't any Skitarii in the Mechanicum list (yet), but they do appear in the HH literature (and cardgame). These fellas are about 9.5mm tall, making them about the size of a Space Marine. Guess you could use them as count as Space Marine allies in a Mechanicum army (either as Assault Squads or Plasma Gun Support Squads)
The link is to the bulk of the infantry. But there is also various crew, casualties, ogres and specialists available. Although the officers are a little bit too obvious chaos for my use.
On my project list is to one day try and do the Siege of Vraks*, as I know they do Kreig equivalents as well.. I shall be clearing out Vanguard on that day
* Along with fully themed defensive earthworks, hundreds of infantry and tanks on both sides. I think I need to stop working to have the time though

Those Eldar look incredible Gitdakka, I love the Vanguard Eloi range. I am halfway through an SM 2nd/NetEpic Eldar army for my Great Crusade World Eaters to fight against, but have been sidelined by a 40k Squat/Votann army (a couple of colleagues and I have gone mental for 2nd edition at the moment and are hurriedly putting armies together..) But I am missing painting small scale!
Trying out some Legion Imperialis style Epic Squats. Removing the old rectangular supports on the bikes and from the individual squats themselves seems to give them a more realistic feel on the 3D printed 25mm bases.

Wow! Those are fantastic. Had been after a Squat army but had been difficult to get alternatives after Onslaught stopped distribution to the UK. Have seen a few of those prints up for sale so think that might be my next project now!

A small 2k game of EpicAU, Night Lords vs Mechanicum. The astartes attempted a speedy overrun of the harbour, but bounced hard from the wall of robots and got blasted with rocket artillery until they slunk back into the burning waves.
Happy to report it does seem the LI community isn’t terribly Puritan about the exact number of models per base.
This is a positive thing if you ask me, especially given how cash intensive infantry can be to get together in sufficient numbers.
And just because I’m a slag/idiot and have the standard number per base? I think I’d be up for a single model per base, provided, as ever, what each base is remains visually distinct and indentifiable from across the board. I would prefer three or four for basic infantry, but not a cross I’m gonna nail myself to.

I am not overly bothered unless people put a single missile marine on a base... I do 4 assault or Termies as its just too cluttered with 5.
For this unit though I am keeping one of the servitors aside to ride an Abeyant, because why not!
So I tried very hard to acquire the 2nd Edition Epic Squat Army Data Cards from the Squat & Warlords box set I once upon a time had with no success. I was also unwilling to drop $200 to buy a set off eBay from one of you Brits... so I re-designed my own. They aren't done yet but close and I will be sharing them for free in the near future to anyone that loves 2nd edition Epic Battles as much as I do (was the first Warhammer game I played).
Every image is scanned in from my old White Dwarf collection, edited in Photoshop and then designed out in Indesign. I've also rewritten most everything on the cards. Let me know what you think of them.
OGmoney are you the chap that has been adding these to the Middlehammer FB group? If so, I know these are going to be really valuable to the Epic community, so please keep up the good work! Like you say the originals are getting scarce now and crazily expensive when they are found, so these will be a great boon.
Inspired by some of Gitdakka's efforts, I have managed to get my arse into gear with some Eldar forces.
Firstly aspect warriors, clock-wise from top-right: Singing Swords (30k-era Aspect house), Fire Dragons, Swooping Hawks, Dark Reapers. The Singing Swords and Fire Dragons are from Vanguard Miniatures, while the bottom two are 3D prints from Lord Chronos designs. The Grav Tanks are GW originals, of which I got a bag of about 30 for about £5 and am steadily working my way through them
Finally an army shot so far. The Warp Hunters and Doom Weaves are originals (don't ask how much they cost! But think it must be the same $/gram weight cost of just buying gold ) I'm working on some command units (Warlock and Avatar), and have some Howling Banshees, Jet Bikes and Vypers on their way from Vanguard. I'm hoping to add a Titan or two eventually also to help round out the army.
Thanks @Pacific It has been a passion project over the Christmas break. I just requested permission to that Warhammer FB Group you mentioned so will be eager to share my designs as soon as I'm accepted.
In the meantime I've been adding to my Epic Squat force. Still deciding on the color scheme I want to go with... thinking the OG super colorful theme but not 100% yet. You can see in the background I got gifted a new Tau Vespid Killteam for the Holidays so I have been distracted a bit.

This is not the best pictures, but I just finished my phantom titan (the vanguard model). A hard build as it is fully pose-able, but I like how it turned out.
That Titan is absolutely cracking Gitdakka, I love the retro-inspired colour scheme. You have also now sold me the miniature! On the Vanguard site it looks almost like something from Gunpla (I think due to the way it is painted) which had put me off ordering one. But this now has me convinced How does it scale with the Adeptus Titanicus machines? I had read it is about 8.5cm tall.
I'm carrying on with the Aeldari myself and completed some command units. The Avatar and Falcon are GW classics (I was crying as I painted them due to how crazily expensive they were! But for a command unit it's the one time you can not feel so guilty to splash the cash..) The Warlocks are Vanguard Miniatures, as are most of the he casualties on the Avatar base. This force will be used as enemies of the World Eaters for a Great Crusade-era campaign, so it is to fit with that.
Glad to hear you like it! Your eldar are turning out great i see! That Avatar is brutal. Here is some pictures for size comparisions and measurement (weird angle, but the tip of the head and the back antenna reaches 8.5cm)
He looks good next to a warhound but will likely be dwarfed by a TI warlord titan or even a TI reaver.
Dunno where you are from pacific, but I read on the vanguard page that they have paused shipping to EU since december 1st because of some new trade laws. But I hope they have resolved it soon.

Squat Project Update:
Bought some new paints that the Manager at my local GW shop helped me pick out based on my old #111 White Dwarf Mag I had brought in, and painted up a test unit of Mjolna Brotherhood. Pretty happy with the results and am working on a full Mole Unit worth of models now.

Thanks! Unfortunately I'm on the west coast. Been working on my Adeptus Titanticus Horus Heresy titan legion recently too. Love the newer "Epic" models as well.
Some funkier EA this time, 2v2 custom scenario on a 12'x4' table with umpired NPC forces running in the middle. Fortified forge-fane in the middle, four outer storages outside the walls, two armies closing in in waves to rob and ransack what they can. In the end, no clear victor can be declared, though amidst the burning wreckage and torn down walls, it is clearly not the local administration... poor arch-magos Fönstern-x64 will be left with a long bill to pay after the invaders have taken their fill from their warehouses and disappeared.
Each player had 3000 points split into four waves of reserves, some of which had a long way to walk in order to get into the thick of it. All players had for whatever reason taken plenty of AA guns but nobody had any planes, or much of any other fast units either... oh dear. Plenty of headbutting into solid walls, robot sentries and other defenses in the initial half while the second stretch turned bloody as the overwhelmed locals finally saw their walls breached by force and got squished between the two advancing fronts as they started to properly meet in the middle right before the end of the day.
Played my second game in a narrative escalation league that I've joined at my local club. It starts at 1000 and goes up 500 points after that with the intention of keeping your core 1000 points in every game. The terrain set ups have been mildly inspired by Sherrypie's incredible boards but there's only so much can be done with club terrain!
I played against Solar Auxilia for the first time and it was a good game! Keen to play some bigger ones as the small point games have been insanely swingy.
Mission: No Man's Land Sec: Control the Battlefield
So, I'm not going to lie - a little behind where I had hoped to be with my tiny marines... but my test models are finished and I'm now into the mass production stage! Have hit a snag though, and need some advice...
These are the test models, which I'm pretty happy with overall. Predator is missing a turret as I'm a clutz and broke it (a spare turret from the sprue is in the assembly line).

Part of the reason it's taken a bit longer is because I have actually cut the small bit of base between their feet out from the masses, but that's one of those things. I've just finished spraying them and think I may have messed up with the airbrushing of BA Contrast as some are distinctly darker than others (if I can tell, being colour blind, than I'm pretty confident it's an issue!). Bit stuck on what to do now, don't really want the hassle of stripping them (or have the time!) but concerned an overspray of white again and then more contrast would end up being too think, especially on such small models. Or wondering whether the darker ones just getting a light drybrush of something like Wild Rider Red would be close enough (they've got a grime wash etc coming up after anyways). What do folks suggest?
@Piousservant maybe try a drubrush l biege on one? That could lighten up the scheme if it became too dark for you.
I finished another 2 wave serpents this weekend. I tried them in battle with some guardians on sunday, and mechanised guardians were pretty sweet. But I think next project will be a formation of fire dragons to be the future main users of these transports

Tyranid Horde - I think that is a great way to start, smaller points and then work up as you get used to the activations and unit profiles. The army and layouts look lovely too. I think it's funny with the Baneblade cowering behind the building shows they are not tough enough, I really think they need to give those an extra wound or make them slightly more survivable in some way.
Gitdakka - lovely work on the Eldar. I have been trying to get some of those old model Wave Serpents for a while, but just waiting for some that aren't a crazy amount of money..
Piousservant - For the shade of red, I would go with whatever you want really for Heresy blood angels. The artwork and official minis vary a lot, and certainly some of the Collected Vision artwork had them painted in a much deeper/ruby red, which yours looks a pretty close match for.
Pacific - thanks, I'm pretty set on how I want to do these Blood Angels - the issue is more how to correct a bunch of them that got oversprayed with too much contrast. I was concerned that respraying them white without stripping them may loose too much detail on such small models ? Alternative approach of drybrushing extra highlights is then whether that looks consistent with the rest of my models or not, that's what I've done so just hoping I don't have a bunch of bases which stand out from the rest of the army like a sore thumb! We'll see I guess.
On my end, finished a couple more tiny tanks for Selen II home army.
Automatically Appended Next Post: E:A, 3k GT. The armoured battalion took to the field under their new commander, who immediately sank to the bottom of a toxic swamp under enemy fire. Despite the Dark Mechanicus commander getting unceremoniously crushed under Baneblade treads with their whole terminator retinue, the Guard tanks faltered in their deployment area without proper leadership to drive them onwards and the day was ultimately carried by the machine-beasts of Chaos.
Two days of tabletop ready painting for tonight's game, SHT's and more Russ turrets. There's still plenty of detailing to go, like the banners on the SHT's. But that's later.
3k NetEA GT. In tonight's heavy metal rumble, the iron tide of Selen II threw the daemonic techmongers out of their idyllic countryside holdings. There was a struggle to win on objectives as the tank companies barreled through the pressure point in the middle, yet were twice foiled by the fearless obliterators standing and rallying nearby. Ultimately, the bodycount was too heavily slanted in favor of the Guard and the hereteks were forced to yield the field.

EA with NetEA lists, yeah. I'm learning to drive with a Minervan tank legion and my friend fields their Dark Mech models as an Iron Warriors list. So there's a mix of priests and bots running as havocs and obliterators, smaller spiders as defilers, big ones as decimators and so on.
I'm trying to get some Epic Eldar ready for a mega game next month, which will be Orks and Eldar, and nothing like a deadline to make you paint stuff!

The Grav tanks are classic GW plastics (still working my way through a bag of the things I got for about £10 ) but the 'Banshees' and Jetbikes are proxies (in the Eloi range) from Vanguard Miniatures.
We were going to do Eldar vs. Marines but saw this awesome piece of art by David Gallagher has made us go to an all-Xenos game instead.

Prepped a couple of quick Deathstrikes and banners for tomorrow's Epic game. Deathstrikes temporarily on extra Russ chassii until I can get a suitable batch of lighter hulls. Had to repaint everything after my varnish decided to dry white in all recesses
4x 5k NetEA, Nids & Eldar vs. IG & IF, escalating forces brought in three waves. The local farming community had their day ruined while no decisive military victory was to be declared by any side. Shoutout to the one bio-titan that survived about eight Volcano cannon shots and for the other one that survived two Deathstrikes with only one damage incurred.

No, only the Guard tanks and brown titans were mine. The eldar player is a newcomer who felt comfortable jumping into a large game, their violet gemwork plating is mighty impressive in general. They couldn't get full 5k finished in time, so the yellow titans were loaned out from one of our veterans. I'll try to take some proper pictures of their army in the future.
My Epic armies currently include legion era Death Guard in bone and green, baroque red and brown titans of Legio Favilla plus AdMech in the same scheme as well as green-orange Imperial Guard / PDF forces of Selen II. Any other forces you might come upon in these pictures thus far are other players'.
Gitdakka, mind sharing what the boat rules were? Wet-navy operations are always interesting gaming topics.
At our end: I set up two tables for today's games, had a nice couple of 3k GT NetEA rounds with eldar, orks, admech and marines present. My dubstep cannon of doom performed well against both varieties of xenos, blowing up steam gargants and shredding infantry formations like there's no tomorrow.
Even if the gargants are holding hands like the most wholesome xenos Teletubbies that they are, in wub-wub we must purge them.

The ships basicly worked as war engine transports, the transport craft had the ability to let the passengers shoot/firefight out of them, and the big boat had similar loadout to an ork gargant
Small boats had dc 3 or 4 and 4+sv If critted they insta-die and all passengers drown
Big boat had dc 8 and 4+reinforced armour
If critted it burns like the gargants.
They all had movement stat of 15cm
However, their move had some smilarities to flyers that they move in straight 15cm lines and then can turn (90 deg for small boats and 45 deg for the big ones.) they must use the full movement.
After activating, you mark the current speed, 0-3 depending on which type of move the ship did. Next activation, they can only activate at same speed or one higher or lower. For example if you double this turn, next turn you can't sustain fire as that would go from speed 2 to 0
If you collide with terrain you take half your dc times your speed in hits, which can be armour saved. If you collide with a unit, both take the hits, then you bounce back out of their ZOC.

Aeldari of the Dyun-Kel Craftworld. Narrowly escaping the destruction of the Eldar Maiden worlds, they were fated to be one of those lost to Slaanesh prior to the 41st millennium.
The miniatures are a real mix. The vast majority of infantry are proxies from the Vanguard Miniatures Eloi range, the Dark Reapers and Swooping Hawsks are 3D prints.
Many of the vehicles are classic GW metals (which were hideously expensive) but I did manage to get a bag of Falcons, which looked like they had been dipped in Dulux masonry paint, for about £10! After a restoration job these were colour-matched with the Guardians and various Aspect Warriors.
The Avatar is a GW original, and I made up an Exarchs honour guard from leftovers from the Vanguard and 3D printed Aspect Warriors units.
Guardians and a 30k-era Aspect Warrior shrine that I made up: The Screaming Blades. The idea behind these is that they are obsessed with martial prowess, their blades 'record' the final moments of slain opponents and the warriors can re-live this to see how they can improve their art. But, Slaanesh used their pride as a way of insiduously gaining control, and their Aspect shrine and the Craftworld would eventually be lost in the annals of history.
I used some Onslaugh Dark Eldar minis, and rules for Striking Scorpions for them.
That's it for now and my fourth Epic army! Need to think of a next project

Pacific That's a fantastic looking army and congrats on completing the project! At first glance I couldn't really tell it was a lot of alternative minis and just looked like a full classic looking 2nd edition army (minus the goblin green bases!)
Trying to shrink down my unpainted mini stockpile; few stands for a very small Khorne force and some more gobbos.
AT gaming for a change. Legio Krytos bounced hard from Favilla's siege lines today, hounded to death by smaller engines of the Ashen Gods in a flurry of plasma explosions and whirring chainfists. Turns out that a deep deployment with built-for-melee Ferrox Reavers running on Ignatum rules setting up right in the enemy's grill... hurts.

Your terrain is very good. I recognise the plastic buildings and hills can always be built (unless there's a trick to making them look good for epic scale?), but how/where did you make/get the roads? I am particularly interested in the paved roads, since I think dirt roads next to factories and hive towers looks a bit odd.

Cheers, we've got a good bunch of stuff at the club. I've got to dispute the dirt part looking odd though, our real world is chock full of examples like that. But that's aesthetics, use what you like
For roads there's plenty of choice. The paved parts in those pics are plastic GW tiles, so these:

Thanks for the information. I've considered the GW plastic slabs, but they seem mighty expensive if you want to cover an entire game board. Your photographs demonstrate pretty good results with using them only partially, and covering the edges with hedges and such. It seems like it is overall more flexible (and cheaper) to get a mat and simply place some roads on top. I'm normally not a big fan of MDF terrain, but those MDF roads look really good.
Yeah, having sort of urban islands on an otherwise more rural board is personally superior to full cityscapes both aesthetically and for gameplay reasons. More flexible, too.
Oh, forgot the Mundus Imperialis roads that Galeforce9 has put out recently for their Epic scale range, too.
Finished my first banner of knights. Although initially meant for AT, I intend to get into one or more of the Epic variants eventually, and so I hope this counts as on-topic.
Painted a squadron of Valkyries for today's game. Selen II's armoured brigade can finally field infantry as well now that they have *some* proper transports for them
This time in Epic gaming: a three-way variant of the Battle of the Sulphur River, 4k NetEA armies (to win you must control the bridges and roadside towns). We altered the initiative system slightly so that each player could make one activation on both opposing fronts and retain on one of them before passing the initiative to avoid the common three player death-spiral where you must do something against one player while repeatedly getting pummeled by the other without time to respond. It worked really well.
The Orks and Imperial Fists went hard at each other, giving the PDF tankers ample time to roll over and smash their bridges clear with tonnes of merciless steel, ultimately taking the third bridge as well with a daring Valkyrie drop of stormtroopers who had gotten themselves together after spending most of the game panicking in a corner after repelling an orbital Ork drop hurtling towards them through the nearby office tower.
Lovely photos with great terrain as usual. I still don't have enough terrain or models to play games at that scale, but my partner and I did another AT game using models from the starter box. I'm working on painting a second starter box, so hopefully our battles can become somewhat larger soon. We both lost our knights, and I managed to structurally compromise my opponent's Reaver, so I won on points. My Warhound was awfully close to melting down after some unfortunate reactor rolls, however.
Hopefully we should have a good range of tables for next March, so you have a bit of time!
