These are my favorite types of conversions; subtle posing that make models more dynamic or lifelike. Anyone can swap a weapon, but this guy's pose adds a tonne of personality to the whole model. Great job!

Wow, I'm honoured that you peeps like such a simply posed model. I myself am a firm believer of adding small touches to models.

Yes - ground-up pastels mixed with water to apply then sealed with varnish. May have used Tamyia too.
Also did some wash techniques with oil paint & did some heat distortion on the exhaust but it's hard to see on photos.

A lot of the techniques came from the Forge Wolrd book. It is now my bible (sorry God)

Ignorant swine, I should slap thee!!

A Hetzer is rather small but has a similar profile. That particular vehicle in the picture is in fact a West German Bundeswehr Kanonenjagdpanzer which entered service in the late 1960s.

Hey mate, I imagine your army looks fantastic on a battlefield. Superb level of painting for any army, it has shading and highlighting, so is as far as I am concerned 'above' gaming standard and would awe opponents with your consistant high standard.

Man! The Imperial Guard are very tempting... They're so much easier to relate to than Space Marines:

Space Marine: "Thou hath shot my arm off. Now prepare to meet death..."

Imperial Guard: "My arm! Medic!..." tears flow freely as his muscles begin to spasm "... Don't want to d-die..." he collapses on the ground for the last time as his legs, and bladder, give way.

some awesome stuff here guys! Really inspired to keep going with my guard. In the past three weeks I've built up quite a force myself. Here are some pics of my last tank built, I'm just about finished the executioner myself, but here's the punisher:

Here's a full shot of my Praetorian army a year or so ago. Since then I've added some stuff and shuffled it around, but the bulk is still the same.

Good god Polonius! My epeen feels so small now; thats an impressive army and even moreso because they're Praetorians.

This thread is going to be bookmarked for sure, IG ftw!

You have awesome armies!

I have not photos of my entire army (10.000 points) but here are a pair of photos.
It's based in a german WW2 panzerdivision. For the infantry I use converted cadians, steel legion, mordian and valhallan.

My Walküre before the weathered.

Sorry if I'm hijacking this thread at all from all these great IG models but where abouts can you get those metal heads from? The bodies look like Kasrkin troops?

I'm a bit of a noob at this as I've only recently got back into some 40k after about hmm 12 years The reason I ask is because they look a hell of a lot like the Marine from the original Doom PC Game which I am very much a fan of - I've painted up a normal Space Marine to look sort of like the Doom marine but its not quite the same...

Like the 'Russ' by the way

Vectrex: those are Pig Iron heads. A couple of online dealers carry them in the USA, but they are made in the UK so it should be much easier for you to find one.

@Vectrex - They are Pig Iron Heavy Infantry heads from here. The bodies are just normal Cadian plastics. The rifles are also after-market from Hasslefree, another UK model company that does all sorts of weapon packs.

Thanks guys I'll have to see about getting some although it will be hard justifying it to myself since I'd need some Karskin troops too and I've got so many models to paint already and each one takes me forever

31st Valonian Naval

autocannon conversion (all the autocannosn are like this but i haven't painted them yet )

I'm not a fantastic painter so i like to keep my guys simple but here are some of the naval infantry guys, with modified lasguns. I use lascarbines only because they "count as" shotguns and are easy to distinguish from the lasguns

and some guys with camo fatigues to break up the simple paint scheme. Also, none of the bases is done yet currently still 2 more squads and 5 chimerae on hold.

I tried to make the camouflage more natural looking by breaking up the paint scheme around folds and seams as it would in real life. This seemed to work surprisingly well and i'm quite pleased with the result

Love that autocannon Gryphonne.

also like that simple camo used on some of your troops. Might try and do something similar to tell apart vets from normal guardsmen...

Since that picture, I have since added a manticore (nearly finished) and 2 chimeras. Plus 2 valkyries and a vulture still in bits from forgeworld (sale, woohoo!)

Probably my best looking character model to date.
