Following on from the Dakka 2010 thread in the discussion forum and the success of Platinum Devil, a 40k tournament has now been booked for the weekend 21st and 22nd August at Warhammer World, Nottingham!
We are looking at 4 games of 1000pts to be played on the saturday, with the sunday being left blank for free play that you can arrange yourselves on the saturday.
If you want to sign up, please confirm in this thread or by PM. Please note that all those expressing an interest must confirm their attendance ASAP to allow confirmation of the booking details. When you confirm please state which army you intend to use (the mission briefings will be tailored accordingly and don't worry, I'm not playing so I'm not gaining an unfair advantage!).
You will need the following:
Rulebook, Relevant Codex, FAQ's (we will be using GW official and INAT).
Army (obviously ) with 2x copies of your army list.
Mission Pack - Available below. MAKE SURE you print out the intro and your army's pack and bring it with you!!! If your army does not have a mission pack let me know and I will upload one for you.
Any questions please let me know. This thread will be updated nearer the time with more details as we get them.
Many thanks to ArbitorIan for his help with the arrangements, hope to see you there!

Pending unforseen circumstances, I'll be there but not playing. I'll need a team of people to rough up other dakka members though so that my mod/admin powers are not made worthless in the real world.

Great! look forward to meeting you. As for the roughing up, I know a few people

Count me in! Erm, not for the 'roughing up' part, you understand... well, depends on what you're offering, I suppose!
I'll ask mattyrm, but he's already said he's deffo up for it, so can I make that +1?

@albatross, I'll put it down as +1 for now but get Mattyrm to confirm please.

Aye ill come. I went to WHW year before last when i was at Center Parcs in Sherwood for a weeks holiday.
The place is pretty sweet, and the museum is cool, the only downside is that Bugmans Bar doesnt sell ANY real ale!!
No real ale?! In a Dwarven Bar?
I cant see Joseph Bugman knocking back twenty pints of Carling lets be fair.
Anyway, i shall of course be there with bells on unless someone close to me dies, and then ill probably just come anyway. Put my name down. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh an pimpalotz ask MDG, iirc he is from Bristol. Also id like him to show up as he is a liberal and i want someone to argue with while im sat in the bar between matches.

yeah,
Count me in. I've got to arrange cover at work but that shouldn't be a problem.
I also think we should set the points to 1250pts.
1500 will mean that games get rushed while 1000 is a little low...
I'll be playing either Grots or Necrons...

IMO, 4 games is a bare minimum for a tournament. This means we only get an hour and a half for each game. Since this is meant to be a fun, casual thing, I don't want to have to rush every game, but I think 1250 is still a comfortable amount in an hour and a half.
Do we add a '4 x 1250' column?
Or do people want to stretch it over both days?

I'd say give the option of stretching it over both days.

I've not much interest in forking out for more hotel costs in Nottingham, but if you run a one day 40k tournament then my sentimental streak might be strong enough to make me bring my Tau out to play.

I'd consider it, time/money/uni work (as an MSc my dissertation runs over into october) allowing, could be quite cool, what would be the policy on non-dakka members being accepted.
18980
Post by: Arakasi
Count me in - Orks of course (no way I'd have anything else ready...)
6987
Post by: Chimera_Calvin
@Leigen_Zero - we can only get 12 tables, so thats a max of 24 players.
How this will work is I will update this thread every few days with a players list. Once this reaches 24 then any extras will go on a reserve list on a first-come-first-serve basis in case anyone from the original 24 drops out. If by deadline day we do not have 24 people signed up then we will open up the event to non-dakkaites.
As far as the event goes I think we need to stick to a one day tournament and leave the sunday free for people who want to do anything else (if we run a 2-day tourney then everyone has to commit to going both days, which may not be practical).
As for the 1250 option, I see what people mean but having run events before, its not a case of 4 games, each 1.5 hours. By the time you get everyone in, account for late arrivals, take down time from each game, set up for the new game, allow a decent lunchbreak and still have enough time for a chat and a pint at the end of the day...
It sounds harsh, but we are not allowed in before 10am and have to leave by no later than 6pm (standard opening hours). That gives us 8 hours max. If we play for more than 4-5 hours of that experience guarantees we will have all sorts of problems! So we need to come up with a format that fits that time-frame.
Hope this is ok with everyone - 4x 1000 is ahead by a nose!!!
17349
Post by: SilverMK2
I should be OK to attend.
I don't mind teaming up with someone for a 2 player entry if there are more than 24 people. So long as someone doesn't mind a huge handycap

Post by: BOSS_PIMPALOTZ
But what do I bring Catachans or Marines?? hmmmm
17349
Post by: SilverMK2
I'm going to bring my CSM, as they are the only army I currently have painted fully in anything like enough numbers to make up 1000 points and I doubt that I will get much painting time in between now and August to make up another army.
Damn work and game table making taking up all my painting time and room!
10912
Post by: BOSS_PIMPALOTZ
Indeed I got 3 days 12 hrs coming up and what have I done to expand my Catachans....?
Built my Master of Ordinance and a 3 man sharpshooter group and thats it! he looks good I'll admit that but I have to paint my first Platoon and buy 5 Ogres to convert into Ogryns and on top of that prime and paint my Valkyrie plus make my mind up about some Catachan themed Stormtroopers then theres the potential Blood Angels paint scheme for all my unpainted marines. (Enough to make a seperate army Devestators need a head change and commander needs a honour guard but then that would be finished (But thats all going in another thread when I figure out how to take decent pictures)
I dont even know if I have a legal Platoon and Company Command.... But my missus buying me my Imperial Guard Codex for our first anniversary (Paper one) should solve that.
I have plenty of time I can do this only working 3 hrs a day next month so plenty of time to devote to painting and converting!.

Count me in. Not sure if it'll be Guard or Red Scorpions yet though...

I would be happy to play either of them, based on your P&M blogs
Why not do an allied force if you can't decide?
18509
Post by: endtransmission
I'm sure I'll be bringing both anyway,, though if last week is anything to go by, my Guard would spend the entire game shooting their own guys rather than the enemy!!.
I just need to decide which one to finish 1000 points of first!

I am going to update the first post with a list of attendees later today. As far as armies go, if people have publicly said what they're taking I'll put that info up, but if people want to keep it a surprise that's fine too!!

Post by: covenant84
I'd love to come but can't confirm for def until nearer the time. Will be Adeptus Mechanicus (IG counts as if people are ok with that)
8049
Post by: ArbitorIan
I'll give my army details later on, based on what everyone else is taking - not in a powergamey way, but to try and get a bit of variety. (If three people are taking Guard armies, I'll bring Daemons. If everyone takes Daemons and Marines, I'll bring Squats, etc.)
Also, how are you looking at modelling/painting/sports scores? Am i right in thinking that everything used at Warhammer World has to be painted and based? This will affect army choice for some people...
24360
Post by: BishopGore
I'd like to come, not actually been to Warhammer World yet, even though Nottingham is not that far from Brum.
Never played in a tournament before, so I imagine I'll be terrible, but if I bring along Orks or Chaos I can't help but have a good time.
Hope you don't mind new Dakkaites jumping in
6987
Post by: Chimera_Calvin
Hi Ian, even Warhammer World is not bothered about painted/based stuff (although it would be nice if people made an effort).
As far as 'soft' scores go, I was thinking of a fairly standard 80% generalship, 10% sportsmanship and 10% painting/modelling split. To save time on painting/modelling I'll just do a 10 point ticklist and each army will be scored once in the day (by a judge so there can be no chipmunking).
The 'awards' (such as there are, its not like we're giving out prizes beyond a certificate and maybe a pint...) will be as follows:
Best Overall (based on all three scores)
Best General (just on generalship)
Best Sport (just on sportsmanship)
Players Choice (vote for best/coolest army)
Wooden Spoon (worst generalship score)
Most-fun-had-by-anyone Award (the player who gives out the highest sportsmanship scores and therefore enjoyed all their games!!)
@BishopGore - the more the merrier. As long as people enjoy the day I'll call it a success no matter how well people do!

Or do I start a new army........................CRINGE!!
6987
Post by: Chimera_Calvin
OK, a few points to answer!
Age limit - good thinking, Panic and a problem that had not occured to me. There is a minimum age of 12 for in-store gaming that as far as I know applies to Warhammer World as well, so that would have to be the bottom limit. For 12-17 year olds I think we have to say must be accompanied by an adult (from over 4 years of teaching I can tell you that permission forms are not worth the paper they're written on if a parent decides they want to sue you - and I'm not prepared to take the risk!)
Hotels - there is a travelodge about 10 mins walk from Warhammer World (Nottingham Riverside) and lots of hotels in Nottingham itself, although parking is a nightmare in town so check the hotel has parking available!
@notprop - You don't need to have painted armies to play at Warhammer World. As part of the saturday tournament we will have a painting/modelling score but it will be very basic so don't worry if stuff isn't finished!
@BOSS_PIMPALOTZ - there are two small creatures sitting on your shoulders. On the left is a demonic Tom Kirby saying 'give in to the plasticrack, spend more money on new toys....muuaahahaaa...', whilst on the right is an angelic Andy Chambers saying 'focus on what you have, make it great, stay true to your first 40k love...*choir*...'
I'll give the poll another day or two and then make a call on the format. If anyone has any really strong objections to one or other option please let me know!

If you're looking for a hotel in Nottingham, they don't come any cheaper than the Gresham hotel. It's faded, hasn't been redecorated in 50 years, and by the station, but it's about £33 a night for a room with a single bedroom with a shower. The breakfasts are pretty good too.

I hope to be there -- will check with my wife later, make sure we're not already busy that weekend... I will bring either Nids or Dark Angels, or borrow my son's Ork army, depending on what's needed to give a bit of variety.
Incidentally, the station is about a 20-min walk from GW, from what I recall, but it's a really nice walk along the canal towpath, so that hotel sounds spot on.

I voted 4x 1000pts because I'm a bit intimidated by 1500pts, but I can always flesh out my boyz for 1500pts if that's the will o' the people. It's not like the date is looming

I don't think it could have the words Golden or Daemon in it... And Platinum and Devil are already taken by Canterbury's tournament in April.
However, a cursory look at the periodic table turns up three beginning with 'D'.
Dysprosium Dwarf, anyone?

The Silver Bolt tourney (followed by shouts of Dakka Dakka!)
On a side point - do people mind if armies include 'counts as' models - thinking in particular my knight counting as a leman russ - weapons are the same, it's just taller than usual and not quite as long. If not I may need to get a new russ model. Also my demolisher has a hull mounted cannon rather than turret mounted. Will this cause problems at all?
Thanks.

@covenant84 - this is supposed to be a fun day more than a hardcore tournament. As long the model in question is a proper conversion rather than a 'counts-as' in the traditional sense of subbing one model you do have for one you don't, there shouldn't be a problem.
The only caveat would be everything must be WYSIWYG and the model must be of a similar size to the original. If in doubt PM me with details and I'll let you know.
@holidayhalflife - sorry you won't be there. I'll update the list when I get the chance. Good luck with the little 'un and see you next time around.

09/02/10 Update!!
Right, sorry I've been away a bit (combination of work and being ill).
Time for some updates. The first post now has all 16 people who have said they want to come. If you are on this list and cannot come please let me know ASAP. Also be aware we now have a maximum of 8 places remaining, so if you want to go, or know someone who does, let us know soon!
Also, if you want to change your intended army or have not decided yet, please post/PM as soon as you can.
The format has been decided as 4 games of 1000 points. The voting was pretty even (a few more voted for 1500 but it was not overwhelming). The reasons for the decision were:
1. Some people who wanted to attend either don't have 1500 points of stuff, or at least don't have it painted.
2. More games equals more games. One of the reasons for doing this is so we all get a chance to meet IRL, so the more people you get to play against, the better.
Finally, a big thank you to Gwar! who has volunteered to be a judge. This will let me focus more on running the event so hopefully the day will run smoothly for everyone.
Any questions, as always let me know and I'll see you all in a few months.

So not only can we not actually PLAY against Gwar, but our tournament is now referreed by the strictest RAW poster on the site?

Remember, judges are not there to tell you how to play.
They are there to provide an impartial verdict on rules queries that players cannot resolve between themselves when asked to do so.
Judges will intervene only when invited to by the players, or in cases or flagrant cheating.
When the event packs are issued nearer to the time,
guidelines will be included regarding rules judgements (and painting judgements too).

RAW? Like,
- Models without eyes cannot shoot
- Doom of Malantai is not a Zoanthrope and cannot use its powers, as they refer to 'the Zoanthrope'
- Eldrad is not a farseer, and cannot use Farseer powers, which all refer to 'the Farseer'
- 'Moves like Jump Infantry' does not mean 'can Deep Strike'
- In various psychic powers, including Warptime, THE PSYKER ITSELF must roll the dice. (That's the model, not the player)
- Leman Russ Battle Tanks do not have battlecannons
- Infantry Platoons and Rough Riders are the only units available as Inducted Guard.
- Wobbly Model Rule means models can move in any direction, including into mid-air, and then be removed from the table, as long as both players know where they should be.
- Terminators in Terminator Armour cannot Sweeping Advance, but anyone else in Terminator Armour can.
Can anyone remember the one where you can't actually start a game because of RAW?

However, a referee is there to inspire confidence in players that they will get good resolution to any disputes they have. Not to tell them that their Eldrad model can't use its psychic powers.

I won't judge a person based on YMDC - that way madness lies!

I'm not worried as long as Gwar promises that if something is clear cut against the spirit of the game (i.e., the Eldrad thing), he won't rule the slowed RAW way instead of RAI.

Can someone PM what this Eldrad thing is? Im curious. Did a search couldn't find any post specific to it.

Post by: Ketara
It's quite simple. Eldarad should not be allowed to use farseer psychic powers, because his unit name is not 'farseer' therefore he does not count as one.

OK, can we please stay on topic
As far as the running of the event goes, if people have specific questions/problems please PM me - don't start haranguing people on an open forum.
I have had a number of offers from people to help with various aspects and am grateful to all of them. Organising an event is frought at the best of times, please don't add to my woes by moaning. Ultimately, all judging will be fair, impartial and compatible with the spirit of the event.
This is not a Throne of Skulls tourney, this is a chance for a bunch of gamers who would otherwise not get a chance to play each other to get some games in the magnificent setting of Warhammer World. The tourney format is being used because it is by far the easiest way to ensure that everyone gets in plenty of games - and to act as a spur to ensure everyone brings the best looking and best equipped army they have.
The judges will do what judges do at every event - namely let you get on with the game. If you and your opponent have a disagreement you cannot resolve, ask a judge to clarify the situation. Examples like the 'Eldrad is not a Farseer' are clearly not issues you would ask a judge to rule on, because irrespective of the RAW, no-one is sufficiently anally retentive to pretend that Eldrad can't use his powers.
Ultimately, the day will be what you make it. If you ask the judge for a lot of rulings, don't then complain if you are on the receiving end of a lot of rulings.

Although this event is happy and friendly and would probably love to have Zulu guard, it's taking place at Warhammer World, which is basically like a GW store. I don't think they allow non- GW miniatures....

UPDATE 22/02/10
The first post has just been updated with the latest list of who's going and what armies they are taking.
Sorry torgoch can't make it (but many thanks for the interest - hope to see you at an event in the future)
There are now only 6 places left unless anyone else drops out, so please let me know ASAP if you want to come - remember its a 4-game, 1000pt tourney on the saturday with sunday available for free-play.
Also, 7 players have still not picked their armies, we currently have 4x Orks, 2x CSM, 2x Guard, 1x Marines, 1x Sisters and 1x Tau if that helps you to decide.
As always, if there are any questions/changes let me know.
See you all in august. C_C

I'm definitely coming; just need to see how many immolators i can fit into 1000pts now
I'm off to the Bloodbowl GT in a couple of months with a bunch of people from my local area; once we get our hotels sorted, I'll post up a bunch of links/info for everyone! If anyone wants to room share to keep costs down I'm up for it; I'm clean, pretty and always armed with tequila and cider.

I've just been wandering, is there any cost for this event? I'm assuming that CC isn't charging anything for running it (since he hasn't mentioned anything), but do Warhammer World charge anything?
Also, does it cost to go to the museum?
Sorry if this is obvious stuff to ask, but I can't seem to locate any details on the website.

BishopGore - its free to get into Warhammer World and its free to see the miniatures gallery when you're there.
Bugman's Bar does sell a couple of souvenir guides (not really worth it IMHO but there you go).
You will need money to cover food/drink while you are there (I went the other day for an apocalypse game and between lunch and 3-4 drinks I spent about £15) Its a little on the pricey side but the food is brilliant. I heartily recommend the 'fat bloke'.
Yes it really is on the menu
Also, be aware that the shop is good (although they've cut back heavily on the amount of specialist games stuff in stock recently - another nail in that particular coffin) so you may want to bring extra for new toys. Of special note is the forgeworld stuff. They do have some that you can buy 'over the counter' and take away with you at the time. More importantly is that if you put in a forgeworld order over £10 at the shop, delivery is free, rather than having to spend £250 for free delivery from their website.
Hope this helps, see you there.

Still not sure whether we'll stay in a hotel or drive back to Birmingham on Saturday night and return Sunday morning. I will hopefully be able to give you a lift covenant84 if you need it, and maybe someone else. Depends if any of my mates want to tag along.
6987
Post by: Chimera_Calvin
No probs Bishop, Also bear in mind if your gf is coming along but doesn't join in there are comfy sofas in bugmans so she can sit with a good book, they do coffee and cake at the bar (the cakes are good but huge!) and there are board games in the bar too.
Also, there are always displays up in the gaming hall (artwork, 3-ups of minis, etc) and the minis hall is good for at least a 30min-1hour look round if you take a good look at everything. There is a big projector TV in Bugmans too but on saturdays its usually just on in the afternoon showing Gillette Soccer Saturday. Don't know if that's her cup of tea or not...

With at least 5 Ork players in the tournie there's a good chance you'll draw one for competative play.

Depends on finances, if I'm doing well then we'll come Friday and stay in a hotel, if not then I'll be driving back and forth each day as the petrol will cost less than a 2 person hotel room.

I saw a P&M blog with a guy who is doing Orky Pirates and he made a big gobbed Orky pirate ship on tracks. If we use an amphibious chimera as a base then we can kustomize it into a land and canal-going vessel.

Can I please ask EVERYONE if you cannot make it to let me know straight away. Anyone who expresses an interest from this point on will be placed on the reserves list but these will be bumped to the main list on a first-come-first-serve basis, so its vital I know if any places become available to allow people to make plans.
See you all soon

UPDATE 28/04/10
changes have been made to the first post - we now have only 4 players (ArbitorIan, Reaver83, BOSS_PIMPALOTZ and Tantras) who have yet to make an army selection.
As it stands we have 2x Marines, 1x Sisters, 6x Guard, 2x Tau, 1x Tyranid, 5x Orks/Grotz and 3x CSM. All in all a pretty good spread!
As usual, post/PM any changes. We still have one name on the reserve list so if you can't make it, be sure to let me know so I can bump Titan Princeps to the main list.
It would be nice if I can finalise everything by the end of May so that I can issue out the rules/mission packs and give everyone plenty of chance to practice over summer. Any question let me know and I'll see you all soon!!

UPDATE 28/05/10
There has been a slight change to the first post - I am now asking for confirmation of attendance and army selection by the 1st of July, so any waverers have about 5 weeks.
A couple of clarifications - there is no minimum painting requirement (although you will obviously struggle to place in the painting and overall categories without it).
Each of the four missions will have 20 points on offer to be split between the two players (so scores will range from 20-0 to 10-10 depending on the level of victory).
There will be 10 points on offer for painting/modelling. This will be done ONCE in the day by a judge (so no chipmunking) and will be based on a ticksheet that will come out with the mission briefings.
Finally, there will be 10 points on offer for sportsmanship. You will have to rate your opponent out of 5 each game (in secret). Each players scores will be tallied to give a total out of 20 and then halved to give the final sportsmanship score out of 10.
All this will give you a maximum overall score of 100. Whilst unfortunately I can't offer prize support I will buy a pint or two for anyone scoring 90 or higher
Please note that pairings for the first two rounds will be randomly decided before the event. Pairings for rounds 3 and 4 will be based purely on generalship points.
Any questions, as always give me a shout.

8049
Post by: ArbitorIan
SilverMK2 wrote:What the hell is "chipmunking"?
The score is for modelling, so they have to make sure the models are built properly. Once during the day, a box of angry chipmunks are let loose on the army tables, and after everyone has capered around for a while trying to catch them, they judge your army. If it's still in one piece, you get points. Easy.

If we're struggleing, what if someone does a brief sketch and everyone chips in with spare sprue/plastic bits to make one on the day. Sort of like the scrap deamon trophie from games day. minimal cost then.
Plus of course pints and a stomach pump

If everyone chips in a marine, he could get a nice couple of squads....
17349

Might be better to bring orks, since there are more ork players, thus more chance of the winner being an ork lover

How about £2? 24 x £2 = £48 - enough to buy a Marine or two Orks - even after the price rise
8049
Post by: ArbitorIan
That's actually a good idea - if everyone chips in the cost of a pint, that's pretty much a shiny new battleforce, or any other combination of boxes, for the winner....?

sounds good to me! maybe winner gets half, best sportsman gets a 1/4 and best army gets a 1/4?
separate question - are 'allies' allowed in your force - My normal army is themed and contains a tactical sqaud as it's 2nd troops selection, and also a techmarine as an ellit. Just that if not I'll obviously need to bring forward plans for more troops choices. At the moment it's just a bit depressing loking at the bits knowing how much time a squad takes me :(

Drop a DP in favour of a Sorcerer then use him in one of the units. Auto drops 1x Melta and the price of a CSM so you can give the sorcerer what you like you'll still have the points!

Post by: Chimera_Calvin
I'm cool with everyone chipping in £2 (if all 24 players plus me do that we're at £50 for the prize fund) but it has to be all or nothing. If anyone doesn't chip in its not fair on those who do.
Points wise 1,000 is the upper limit as is normal for a tournament. If its ok for one person to go over 1,000 it has to be ok for everyone to go above 1,000 and then it gets messy... Sorry guys but strict is the only way to be fair.
Finally - The four missions are now written and are being playtested. There may be minor detail changes but the titles are as follows:
Mission 1: Recon
Mission 2: Sieze Ground
Mission 3: Headquarters Raid
Mission 4: Into the Fire
More details will follow but that's a big enough hint for now...

Gaaahh.
This was my thinking, and why I WON'T be taking the Squats - too many Guard armies already...
The current army breakdown for the tournament is...
6 x GUARD
5 x ORKS
4 x CSM
2 x MARINES
2 x TAU
1 x WITCHHUNTERS
1 x TYRANIDS
0 x ELDAR
0 x DARK ELDAR
0 x DAEMONHUNTERS
0 x MARINE VARIANTS
0 x NECRONS
0 x DAEMONS
So, Squats and Arbites are out (they're Guard and Witchhunters). I'm currently weighing up the options between Daemons and Harlequins... I wonder, would anyone let me use the 3ed Harlequin Codex? It's technically never been superceded.....! Otherwise, Slaanesh Daemons for me! I'm happy with £2 each to get prize support sorted. I reckon it's best as one £48 voucher for overall winner, though, rather than splitting it between general/sports/paint. Best painted is its own reward in that everyone will be hugely complimentary. Best sportsmanship is also its own reward, as the winner is bound to be awesome company and so will just win at life.

i was thinking of going for a fun list where every unit was carrying some sort of template or blast weapon so i came up with this
[145] CCS, 4meltaguns, chimera(i know no templates here ......but wait the chimera has a hevy flamer so yay )
[050] PCS, 4flamers ( the perfect template unit(although it will prob get destroyed from range turn one in every game))
[060] infantry squad, grenade launcher, mortar
[065] infantry squad, grenade launcher, autocannon (autocannons were added to use up points, although i may change these to on missile launcher and 2 mortars)
[050] PCS, 4grenade launchers
[065] infantry squad, grenade launcher, autocannon
[065] infantry squad, grenade launcher, autocannon
[160] manticore rocket launcher
[190] lrexecutioner
[150] lrbt
i know i'll get murdered , especially in objectives or any mission involving movement but i think it should be a fun list its either this or my mixed arms involving 2 vendettas but the other one is less fun and more compettetive

UPDATE - First mission details (BP refers to Battle Points): Recon. Following planetfall, your forces must scout the location of enemy troops whilst maintaining operational security. If possible take and hold strategic points in preparation for the coming campaign. Primary Mission: Units can score BPs for the primary mission if they are not falling back or pinned. Vehicles must be mobile to score. If you have two or more such units in your opponents deployment zone - 8 BPs If you have one such unit in your opponents deployment zone - 4 BPs If your opponent has no such units in your deployment zone - 8 BPs If your opponent has one such unit in your deployment zone - 4 BPs Secondary Mission: After the players have picked their deployment zone but before any units are placed, each player, beginning with the first must place one objective marker in no-mans-land at least 12" from the board edges or the other marker. These objectives are captured as per normal rules (non-vehicle troop choices within 3") Each objective marker is worth 2 BPs if controlled. If a marker is contested or has no units within 3", both players gain 1 BP each. Setup - As per Pitched Battle (BGB page 92). Game length - standard (5-7 turns). Note that time is against you - even if you table your opponent they may still claim battle points if they have prevented you from acheiving all objectives - its not an automatic 20-0!! So that's the first one guys and a teaser of what's to come. All missions are constructed in a similar way (with a primary and a secondary objective) so that there is a total of 20 points on offer that will always be split - ie if the players add their BPs together at the end of the battle it will always equal 20, giving you a quick error-check! Hope that's given you a taste for more, I'll be putting the others up about once a week and more details will be sent out with the packs when everything is finalised. See you all soon - C_C

Just had some details through from Nottingham - the bar is open until 10pm on the saturday (and if there's enough people wanting drinks to cover the staff costs they just stay open longer apparently )
Also, the bar's open until 10pm on the friday if anyone is getting there on the friday night and wants to go for a drink. Result
Finally, food for the saturday works as follows - we will need to place our orders by 1230 for a 1430 lunch. I'm trying to find out if they're saving a couple of tables for us or whether we just pile in. The timing is going to mean 3 games before lunch, with one game and presentations done after.
If I can get menus and a float sorted, are people OK with ordering when you register at 10? I can sort out change then and put a bulk order in without you guys having to leave the games. Let me know what you think...

Bugger it
I've just had another e-mail from Warhammer World about the food.
Apparently Bugman's kitchen can only cook 12 orders at a time so they can't cater for us all at once and are unhappy about us monopolising the kitchen.
That leaves us with 3 options:
1. Risk it and just wander in and queue up.
2. Arrange a buffet and/or pizzas with them (they are sending me the details)
3. Eat with the other tournament group who have already booked their food (the problem with this is we would need to eat what they have picked and would have to eat at the same time)
any thoughts??
19640
Post by: Tantras
Option 2 sounds the best I think, we don't want to be eating in the middle of a round or anything. People would chat tactics over the grub, hahah!
