I'm not going to include people in my town, which actually their is QUITE a few Dakka users in my town.
Great people.
I was even lucky enough to have a game with Mettalifan who lives a good six hours south of me. Although I do wish I could recall what the feth happened in that game.
Anyways here are my three and why.
1. Lunahound, And she's actually local so it's not impossible. She has been very kindly to me and given me great advice on modeling and painting. And from what I can gather on Dakka. She is as good at the game as she is at modeling.
2. Emperors Faithful, We always kind of had a Legolas and Gimli rivalry on Dakka, He also however is quite frank and I like that. But however getting to Australia is problem #1, dealing with the heat is problem #2.
3. Golden Eyed Scout, Very talkative and that is so much better then compared to some of the robots I have played this game with. Nothing is more boring then someone that just thinks for five minutes then does their turn.
I guarantee their would be some submission holds and guitar swinging in that game too.

Excellent, you and luna should have a game and post the results up in the battle reports section (remember to include lots of pics, battle reports are far more interesting that way).
I'd happily have a game with anyone who was there to have an enjoyable game and can be reasonable in resolution of any issue arising.
Hmmm....Luna, MGS, or Frazzled. Maybe Shadow, GES or Slarg 232 also. The fromer three because they seem like quite interesting people, the latter three because as well as being interesting they're the Dakkites I'm closest too.
Um...uh... anyone who would game with me. I look really young (sometimes I can look to be 8 to 10 years old) most of the time, all of the older wargamers haven't said no, unless they don't have there stuff, etc.
Lets seeeeee.....
1)Alpharius for him picking on me alot of the time and he seems like a funny guy.
2) Gwar! just out of curiousity.
3) KingCracker for being a guy i could see pretty funny playing against.
I'm pretty sure there are no Dakkaites near me in KC. I'd play a game with nearly anybody once. Except Gwar! That would most assuredly end in violence.
Articulate people who think clearly and attempt to make things fun for other people.
Of course, I have met and played against a few people from here. Mainly ArbitorIan, Ketara, Kilkrazy and others from Platinum Devil, as well as Ian again this weekend. Hopefully Panic in the next few weeks in a campaign we are in. (Though he and I are both Eldar, I think, so we may be partners in a 2v2).
I'd say Dash, Thor, and Luna. Dash and Thor because they've each done very well competatively with the army I'm trying to learn to use. Luna because... well, simply put, I've never played against a girl. Would be interesting to see if she'd find it just as easy to whup me as the other two would.

Ha!
I'm going to stretch it a bit and say...
1) ANY of the DCM's and MOD crew
2) Gwar!
3) Vindicator#9 - for the reasons he's listed!
And you know that we'd have to bring as many Vindicators as possible!
I grappled the shoggoth wrote:Id like to play against blackmoor, dashofpepper, and hulksmash, just because they seem like the most competitive players on here.
Ive played against blackblowfly, gornall, and starbomber109, far as dakka guys go.
Oh, and Lunahound, just because there used to be a time when I was a better painter, when I was still doing my Orkz, long before she completely surpassed me. I would like to reminisce of the days of models long gone.
There's plenty of friendly, articulate people on Dakka it would seem.
Basically any of them would do if they had a fully painted 12K force.
I'd imagine anyone with that level of committment would be a fair match of madness.
Yakface - cuz i've always wanted to meet Sean Connery.
Gwar! - For the lulz.
Frazzled - Fun hick with a mullet shooting bottles in backyard while dining on his 2kg steak.
For all of you who want to play people from Dakka:
Download Vassal. Then download Vassal's 40k module. Then Download Skype for voicechat.
There is already a community of us Dakka players who do play each other regularly through our computers, and Vassal is an excellent simulation of table-top gameplay. I'll note that I have gotten to play against Gwar several times. He knows the rules quite thoroughly and in real life is a funny and charming guy. He argues for RAW here on Dakka; in a game he says things like, "Well, technically according to RAW we would <insert here>" but then continues on with the logical course of action. From time to time, we'll be talking about something and he'll say "RAW, that's illegal." And I'll answer with "That's how I play it, that's how its ruled at every tournament I've ever been to, that's how it makes sense to play it, and I'm going to ignore you and continue to do so." He doesn't get fussy - Gwar doesn't necessarily want everyone to play BY RAW, he just wants people to understand what the RAW is; kinda like I don't want all ork players to copy my list and play like me, but I want them to understand how I build lists, formulate tactics, and use that knowledge to become good in their own right.
I thought Gwar was a douche for a long time too until I met him (so to speak).
I've gotten to play against Hulksmash (who is my sportsmanship mentor, personal 40k idol and arguably one of the finest 40k players on the planet), Reecius (extremely competitive and also extremely good), Blackmoor (played him at the SoCal Slaughter in Space GT), and a host of other dakkaites.
On that note, I'll play a game against anyone who is fun and booze it up while I'm doing it. The best 40k games are those at my house involving snacks and liquor, or a tournament that I didn't drive to where I brought liquor. I have more fun when I'm drunk, and because I'm extremely competitive, booze takes the edge off, makes me a better sportsman, and lets me let the little things slide. "You moved that 7", please redo that" and "When you assault, you have to move into base with unengaged models where possible" kind of stuff.
There are only two people that I CRAVE a game against, but there is a third "type" of people that I crave games with.
1. Stelek. It started with his editorial Orks Really Suck and his venomous dismissal of any contrary opinion. It escalated with him writing an article about me and why I suck, why my orks suck, and why I'm not competitive. Some folks linked me to his blog, noting that there was an article about me, and I responded - he cut the response and made a whole new "Lets Bash on Dashofpepper" article titled Emo Ranting. And he did the same with with my last attempt at communication in that thread, with another article about how I was butt-hurt. In short, here's a guy who is an arm-chair general, is dismissive of my favorite army, rants across the internet about what a piece of crap I am, how crappy my list is, how crappy orks are, how every event I've ever played in is uncompetitive (like the SoCal Slaughter in Space GT) but is unwilling to back up his tremendous bile with action. Dude has a rabid following of people who hang on his every word as if he were the holy guru of 40k, and my open challenge to he and his followers of "Anytime, anywhere" has been answered repeatedly by his fanbois, who have been unilaterally decimated, humiliated, and beaten down by me, usually in front of a crowd. He was planning on attending the Nova Open GT in August; the TO was going to have a "celebrity deathmatch" on Friday night to pair Stelek up against me for everyone to see....and apparently Stelek isn't going anymore. I crave a game against him in the worst way because I want my orks to atrociously humiliate whatever army he brings to the table. I'd be happy for a series of games, so that I can do it repeatedly. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but when you dispense bad advice to an audience, you're the worst kind. And now, there's a huge discussion going on because he apparently has been lying about his tournament record, and is getting dimed out. lollerskates.
2. Black Blow Fly. He's embarked on a crusade across the internet to smear my name, accuse me of cheating, sending my wife insulting messages on Dakka and elsewhere, and in general be the worst kind of person. His local gamers have messaged me on Dakka to avoid him, his club has advised me to ignore him and he'll go away....I'm the kind of guy who feels an inherent need to stand up to evil and misdeeds. I wouldn't walk by a mugging. This past weekend driving down I95 (interstate) a car caught on fire about 7 cars in front of us; traffic stopped, old folks inside trying to get their stuff out, everyone is getting out of their cars to gawk, traffic is backing up - I have to get out and help. I'm the guy who takes the cigarette away from the guy who lights up in a no-smoking restaurant. His actions, name-calling, insults, and stalking are venomous and filled with malice; my true wishes would cause legal problems, and while his taunting that I should come down to south Florida to play a game with him is tempting...it simply isn't worth the effort. He refuses to use Vassal, I can't ignore malice and misdeeds, and this is another person that I would like nothing more than to brutally humiliate on the table. After most of my games, I have a tactical conversation with my opponent; I tell them why I think they lost, how they could have exploited various mistakes I made, what I think they should do differently next time.......my after-game conversation with BBF would be along the lines of "Good triumphs over evil in the end" along with unsavory things that would cross the line to type here.
3. Finally, there's a "type" of player I desire to play. When I spend 15 minutes or more writing out a thoughtful tactical analysis of someone's army list, or their tactics....trying to help them improve their game, become a better player, have a sounder list.....and they post a response that is dismissive of my advice like this one or this one defending Flashgits over Lootas my hackles go up and I issue a challenge - if someone's list is so awesome that they will dismiss critiques levied at it, then they shouldn't have posted it for critique in the first place. And if someone won't listen to good advice, the only alternative I can really think of is to curb-stomp them into the ground mercilessly in an effort to punch through the haze clouding their judgment that makes them think that the craptastic list they are running is the best thing since wonderbread.
Phew. Writing all that was actually cathartic.
Also, I'm Dashofpepper on Skype and Vassal. I'm always open to play against anyone!
don_mondo wrote:Anyone. Just remember, winner buys the first round.
See, I don't get that.
The first round of drinks should start with the first round of the game, and you don't know who the winner is going to be yet. I can see "Winner buys the 7th round of drinks" though and I'd totally be up for it.
warpcrafter wrote:I'm pretty sure there are no Dakkaites near me in KC. I'd play a game with nearly anybody once. Except Gwar! That would most assuredly end in violence.
KC as in Kansas City? I'm in St. Joseph... I can be at 31st Century Games in Olathe June 6th if you're interested in a quick game, PM me if so.
Other than that, I'd like to play: Sons of Orar, Little Boy Blues, and infilTRAITOR. Just look at those armies... That and they all seem like alrite guys in my book.
As has been said, there are a lot of Dakkites that I'd love to play with, but I reckon my main 3 would be:
- Alpharius - He seems like a genuine, smart and funny guy.
- Gwar! - For the humour and teaching that would occur, his sense of humour seems to appeal to me....
- Blackmoor - He also seems like a stand-up guy who I could learn a lot from.
I wouldn't want to play with Yakface, he just seems too wise for me and it'd be like playing against (the Dakka version of) god!
And although I love Frazzled's comments, I don't think I could stand being savaged by the Weiner dog or Frazzled himself...
But yeah, there are so many sound people in Dakka, I'd happily play against most of them...
JohnHwangDD wrote:Assuming that it's a day game with beer and a proper break for a civilized lunch, I'll go with: - Frazzled - Nurglitch - Lunahound
Oh, and WRT Yakface, being local, he'd be a fine pinch hitter if either of my Canadian picks get hung up by US Border Control / Immigration.
Can we go shooting first?

For me, I look at this question thread not so much the actual playing of a game with "winners" and "losers", so much as the idea of hanging out with and shooting the breeze IRL with some people I only know via Dakka.
BTW: The "Stelek" and "blackblowguy" you mention both sound like a couple of dooshes, so I'd recommend to simply ignore them if I were you - life's too short.

Fear the weiner.
Me. anyone who wants to play but doesn't take toy soldiers seriously. Also
Mean Green Stompa, Mad Dog Grotsnik, JHwang, Ragnar (Mannahin), and Waughy in a tag team match, predominantly just to see who could understand each other-talk about a battle of the accents. English/Scot/Cali/newJersey/Australia/Texan yee ha.
otherwise lets just meet up in the backyard. I'll throw the fajitas on.

I thought about coming up with a list, but then I realized I was already the most awesometacular guy on this website anyway and I get my weekly dose of gaming with Thor every Thursday (Thor's day for you non-Norse heathens) anyway.
So, yes, in conclusion; I rule. It's science, you can't argue with it.
(I'd probably be game for playing anyone on my friend's list. Methinks I put them there for some reason or other.)
3 that I've always wanted a game/sit at the bar with....
1.HBMC (my favorite Sh!t talker here)
2.Frazzled (he owes me a drink for all the "undeserved" mod warnings)
3.Yakface (so I can go around saying "I kicked 'Dakka's' a$$!")
BTW I would play Stormboy97's hottest armies again, but I've already proven how easy it was to beat them, so no need!
I'd play anyone, even Dogma and Shuma. Just so long as they didn't try to spew their political nonsense in my direction I'd be gentleman to them. Might even buy them a round afterwards.
I would love to play any of the older, wiser, and more sensible Dakkites, but currently I have 3 I really want to play
1. Melissia - Currently me and her have been bantering back and forth in 40k General and 40k background, and would love to play against the person behind the avatar. Seems like a cool minded and intelligent person. Also, FEMALE! Don't see many of those around my FLGS X.D!
2. Emperor's Faithful - Same reason above, minus the female. Apparently I want to play some SoB players?
3. Gwar!- I love attempted trollings of Gwar in YMDC, and we have bantered back and forth before. I would love to play Gwar! IRL for almost all of the reasons already stated before as well.
Sad thing is, I only really play Dual-wing and would get om nom'ed
Pretty much anyone that will listen to others PoV and has a sense of humor. If they take their playtime way to seriously, I don't have enough time in my life to waste gaming across from one who has become to emotionally involved with their army.
Having said that, Here are the first three I can think of:
1)Gwar!
2)JohnHwangDD
3)Frazzled
After these guys it would be Deadshane, Dash(Just to get a few pointers)& any of the Dakka Mods
2. Crikey, so many I could think of, I loved finding this thread, had a break and came back- some of the names mentioned reminded me of really cool past convo's, pm or otherwise, and flamewars of ages past.....So i'll post a few, and break the OP's rules flagrantly!!! insaniak,Frazzled,Malfred,Iorek,Yak,Lego,Empie's Faithful,JohnHwangDD,Nurglitch(That would be basically me standing there for 4 hours trying to understand what 'parenthesis' means),Deadshane,GreenBlowFly,The local Dr to me(you know who you are!!)
And too many more for my drink addled brain from remembering.....
3.All of the people who basically are fun to play with. While I get drunk....etc. Playing with toy soldiers should be taken as seriously as you like.
That being said, I may be tfg, and not even know it!
1. Gwar, because I would probably learn some rules things.
2. Anyone in the DCM or Mod crew as well. We have to much of a good time not to.
3. One of Frazzled's Weiner dogs, just because I've never lost to anyone outside my species yet.
Fateweaver wrote:I'd play anyone, even Dogma and Shuma. Just so long as they didn't try to spew their political nonsense in my direction I'd be gentleman to them. Might even buy them a round afterwards.
I'd play you Fate - I reckon it'd be a good laugh. However, I WOULD be worried about getting 'capped' if I won, so... easy victory for you!
I still remember the days Thor665 and me used to debate Dark Eldar tactics, so I'd be interested in a DE vs DE contest against him someday, over several drinks.
I'm interested in playing Dash to see how he stands up in an actual game as opposed to online list discussion. I tried downloading vassal for this very purpose, but alas, I lost my main net connection the following day, and don't appear to be regaining it anytime soon.
Lastly, I'd like to have an awesome three way objectives game against my fellow Swapmods.
Darkness is the greatest 40k player to never play in a GT. He has beaten Marc enough times to count with multiple hands. His brother plays 40k too and they are about 50/50 vs each other.
I hope Scott Simpson gets off his tushy and plays again I would love to get a game with him again.

It's all about the 'meta', baby!
Naw, I wouldn't cap you for winning. I'd cap you from being British though. Haha. J/K.
Politics isn't normally par for the course during 40k. Normally the talk is of women and 40k, but mostly women.
I've already played against Our Most Benevolent Overlord and alongside Reecius, Ozymandias, and WhiteDragon...
The question is, who else?
Probably Gwar! for his knowledge of rules, Polonius because I want a crack at his guard after watching them in action at Adepticon against WD, and Malfred.
I may be able to get 2 of the 3 done at next year's Adepticon.

No, no, no, see, anything during the game doesn't count!
I'm surprised that even one person mentioned me to tell the truth. I'm actaully kinda a dick in real life.
@Shadowbrand: Long as you know when to tap out to avoid passing out, I think it would be very fun to see who would win in that situation.
1. Shadowbrand: We both like metal, anime, and just enjoyng life by living in the moment tbh. I think it would be funny to see what would happen.
(Prolly involving lots of drinking, swearing, laughing, and precious little gaming.) Also, I migh convince him to teach me guitar.
2. Luna Hound: I think it would be pretty fun to meet her, as she seems like a fun person to hang out with, with a sense of humor I like.
Also, we enjoy anime and the same kinds of music.
3. Little Lord Fauntleroy: Weboth seem very alike, in that we both hold grudges, and are less then social.
Other choices include : Metallifan, Cheese Elemental, Ghosty, Garret, Fitzz, and Lord Loss.
Pretty much anybody that doesn't mind me being a goof is who'd I'd game with from dakka.
1.DashOfPepper, cause I'd learn some tactics! I will get on Vassal properly some day but my laptop is currently super crap, the text as I write this is about two minutes behind what I type...
2.GES, I wonder if he's like his character in Unknown Apc.
3. I don't really know and I can't choose one person so some strange morphing version of Fifty, Thor, Frazzled and Gwar!
Shadowbrand wrote:@Scout
Sure, I'd teach you Guitar but in exchange for a game.
Sweet. But I should warn you, I'm lost when it comes to anything beyond moving and shooting.
Also, I have been known to space out while thinking for a good five minutes before popping back in Scrubs like,
complete with strange one liner.
I would play anyone on Dakka, I love meeting new people and I have been fortunate enough to meet a LOT of the Dakka crew from the various tournaments I go to.
I have met/played/played with:
Yak
Platuan4th
Ozzay
Whitedragon
Janthkin
Mannahin
Malfred
Dash
Dave_Fay
Wolf Lord Patrick
Blackmoore
Darian13 (Where the hell has he been?!?! Get off of WoW, Darian!)
Cypher
Centurian_99
John HwangDD
Hulksmash
Phazeal
Polonius
Augustus
Menelker
Goatboy
JWolf
Bigred
Darkwyn
Inquisitor Malice
Paintraina
and so many more that I know I am forgetting.
I can honestly say that every Dakka guy (or gal) that I have played in real life has been very cool and fun to game with.
But as for the people I want to play most? Hmmm,
Stelek: To shut his mouth, but that will never happen since he never actually plays the game.
HBMC: Since he is old school and from our talks seems like my kind of guy.
Whitedragon: He was the first man to ever beat my Footdar and I am hungry for a rematch!
But honestly, I love meeting new people and making new friends so if anyone finds them self at a tournament and meets me in real life (I always have my screen name on my name tag) make sure to say hi and introduce yourself! We'll get a beer after gaming and talk shop.
One of the best 40k moments I've had was a pick up game against Whitedragon, so I highly encourage anybody that gets a chance to game against your dakka friends.
To pick my three:
Dash - He seems like a very competitive guy, and I'm curious if my mech IG could hang with his orks.
JEB Stuart: his demeanor always reminded me of a fraternity brother of mine, and he seems like a really fun guy to hang with.
HBMC: because 12k a side IG apocolypse games are fun!

Was that with his Chaoszilla list? Admittedly the dice went against him, but he got pretty well throttled by my Mech IG. I've never gotten to face foot eldar with my Praetorians in fifth...
bloodangel as I have known Paul for 6 years, and never got the chance to play him.
Deadshane as I have never played him either even though we have both been in the WC since the start, and love trash talking him.
Augustus as its been far too long since our last game, and we always end up missing each other by a table number or 2.
Whitedragon: He was the first man to ever beat my Footdar and I am hungry for a rematch!

Yep. I didn't see it(Ozzy and I were getting trounced in the Fantasy TT), but from what I heard, it sounded like a good game.
I think the highlight was a unit of melta vets falling back only 3", keeping them within double dice range of his defiler, thus ending any real hope of a comeback. Sometimes you get lucky.
I would like to play Dash. I remember his posts from not so long ago when he got out of his "small pond" so to speak and is now making headlines around the tourney circuits. I would like to see if I could handle his orks with my nids. Not saying I can, but I would like to have the opportunity to try.
Reecius is also on my list. He comes across on Dakka as a really nice guy and I would like to meet him in person for a friendly game or 2.
Mercer, Yermon and Shep sort of come into 1 place for me. They both play nids which is my passion and I would love to learn some new tricks. I see things a bit too 1 dimensionally with them and get bored with the typical hardcore tourney lists that I see here on dakka.
Probably GES, as it would get really involved and thematic, archibald jack, as it would probably be awesome to go up against his 'munda gang, and of course, i'd love to go toe to toe with infiltraitor, as his traitor guard are the epitomy of pure awesomesauce.
It's 'cause of all that trash talkin' you've been spewing lately!
You know, the only time I trash talk someone is like I said earlier in my post, when I spend MY time trying to help them and they blow me off because they know orks better than I do. Then I want an ork vs. ork game so that I can hammer them into the ground.
Everyone else is welcome to a game with me anytime by picking up Vassal! I tend to do a bit of screening though; when folks Skype me and they're like, "Hey! This is XXXX from Dakka; I wanted to challenge you to see if you're as good as people say you are, I haven't played against orks before, but I think I can give you a run for your money!" I try to very gently shuffle them off onto a friend.
And Inquisitor, you're not a bad player at all; while 4/5 of all my shooting was garbage, the few times it go through I wrecked, exploded or weapon destroyed something. I was pleasantly surprised not to be plagued with shaken/stunned results across the board.
Commander Endova wrote:1. Gwar, because I would probably learn some rules things.

I still have nightmares about this. It was horrible. I also remember executioners spelling 5 plasma templates of doom on all my nice AV12 stuff. Those things are even better than hydras and exterminators really!
And Reece, that was a hella close game. The indestructible rhino basically allowed me to get stuck in where I wanted rather than where you wanted.
I'd happily play anyone, but if I had to pick three in particular. I'd like to play...
Frazzled - makes me laugh more than anyone else here, and got me addicted to the idea of getting a Weiner dog. Would also like to see how deadly T-bone is up close.
H.B.M.C - he's a dedicated tread-head, and I'd love to see that many tanks facing off against me.
MGS - well got to have an Ork v's Ork scrap in there somewhere. Plus he's another who makes me chuckle away while here.

Well, if it makes you feel better our game turned my karma around. I won store tournaments in four different cities with that army after our game, and it's record before was just over .500.

Yes it was! He felt better after handing me my first loss after he said you kicked his butt with your mech IG!
I wanted a rematch so badly! hahah, but it was a good game, I had one turn where my entire army shooting and assaulting killed one model, and I just couldn't recover from that. Plus, Whitedragon is a good player and he stuck it to me and finished the game while I was on the ropes.

Lambadomy

and hell, I can't remember anymore but I know I am forgetting people.
Pretty much rest assured, if you meet a Dakka regular out and about in the gaming scene, you are pretty sure to meet a cool person who is knowledgeable of the game and fun to play, also skilled in most every case.
Not counting Dash as I have already played him (and he always beats me except that one time I beat him on turn 1 ) I would want to play:
1) Thor665, because he is awesome.
2) Alpharius, because eh is a pretty cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything.
3) He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, just so I can be a RaW Richard all game.
Just Dave wrote:Nice try Yakface, but Lego's 'just' a machine or some binary code. One day he's gonna go all Skynet on us I betcha...
Oddly enough Lego has a body! I just met him Jim in person the other day. Such a nice fella, he flew all the way from the UK to say hey
Legoburner for sure, I think we would have a blast
Dash(in person sheesh, enough with the vassal already) Id get my Orks krumped in record time. But I would definitely like to see how to improve my Orkses for when it matters.
And anyone who would be a challenge. Whoppin on someone, or getting my face smashed isnt challenging
MeanGreenStompa wrote:And they should bring jaffa cakes and crisps, especially jaffa cakes...
MMmmmmmmmmmmmm....... Jaffa Cakes! I always get my family in London to send me a care package from time to time, which includes jaffa cakes!
Now I want some
I'm not really sure. I stay posting in Dakka Dakka not for the community, but for the drama and comedy. So it would need to be three people that are known not to get along and they'd all need to be there at the same time. I'll look out for the candidates and come back with an answer later on.
ghosty wrote:Probably GES, as it would get really involved and thematic, archibald jack, as it would probably be awesome to go up against his 'munda gang, and of course, i'd love to go toe to toe with infiltraitor, as his traitor guard are the epitomy of pure awesomesauce.
Sigged. I'm also assuming that by "involved and thematic" you mean it'll have a story driving it?
Well I have a lot of friends who are all from overseas, so I may have to book a holiday to the US that coincides with your location...not sure how the wife would take it though, lol.
But yeah, I do have vassal, but I think I may need to update it. Are there any of the newer things like trygons available now? Haven't played in a while so I'm a bit rusty.
I am pretty new to Vassal, but Dash is the man to ask about that, he taught me how to use it. I believe that yes, it is up to date.
Yeah man, if you come to San Diego we will get a game for sure, and honestly, you can't go wrong with this city, it is beautiful and has a lot of nice folks.
Just wanted to put this in here, I've actually got a game against a fellow Dakkaite because of this thread! My IG and warpcrafter's Orks are gonna throw down Saturday evening!
Gosh, there are so many people I'd like to play here its hard to narrow it down to three. I don't really know how anyone actually plays here, so I'm just judging from conversations.
1. Dogma - Interesting points of view, and I'm guessing his playstyle would be intense. I'm just guessing that "intense" defines a lot of his pursuits.
2. Frazz/JP 4000/Fateweaver - Would be fun to play a game then go shoot. I would say loser buys ammo, but that would be a bad bet to lose, especially these days. Knowing these guys they'd probably shoot something in .50 BMG or some weird wildcat that all of 5 people in the US know about and I'd have to take a second mortgage to cover a day at the range. Frazz seems to be like a hunting buddy of my father....never knows a stranger and is completely full of crap in an awesome way.
3. Mannanahin/Shuma/Killkrazy another tie - Mannanahin has been one of the few people i've debated with, online or in person, who really has the potential to change my point of view on things ( though the process is sometimes long and involves pulling teeth). Dogma, Killkrazy, Polonius, and Man are the three sharpest people on these boards IMHO ( Dogma and Man let you know that fact, you know thats true guys. It isn't bragging though if you can back it up, kind of like Kid Rock being cocky and all) Shuma, for all his abrasiveness on the boards, is probably a bucket full of fun, and I would wager a sharp player on the table. He's probably completely full of crap, and set him off and he's probably at least 2 hours of entertainment. Killkrazy I'm thinking is real quiet but an intense player, and if he drinks, its worth seeing what he's like with a few pints in him.
Close contenders: Whomever it was that caught the "grignard" reference in one of the OT threads, GMMstudios, Yakface, greenskin lynn, Kyoto, Mad Doc, Waaagh Gonads, sebster
Ultimately I think I'd play most of the people on this board.
well whom would I want to game with? well I have had a few games with Gwar, Dash and Clthomps, upstanding guys and people I want to play again. each having given me a few steps in the right direction in my 40k games, teaching me things I just wouldn't have picked up on by myself, at least any time soon. of course if I am looking to get my face slammed to curb I can poke Dash's cage anytime, as he seems to love going nom nom nom on my flavors of marines. games with Gwar are more about the laughs, jokes and random links to funny images/vids than anything else, though I do learn alot about the rules from him. and Clthomps, the man that helped me to really get pulled in. he helped me with modeling, painting and gaming, he is an amazing guy to just hang out with, but to game some 40k is icing on the damn cake. I miss the little group he had going in NY, maybe I will get to game with him again soon.
now as for those I haven't gamed with, Luna and Mistress of Minis have my greatest interest. simply becuase I have a desire to see how they game, both seem like (and in my opinion are) very upstanding people, and gamers. a trait that is hard to find in a sea of WAAC, and beard necks(though thankfully you can't smell them over vassal).
feel free to look me up on Vassal or Skype as Garuss Acine, more than happy to accept challenges
Garuss Acine wrote: if I am looking to get my face slammed to curb I can poke Dash's cage anytime, as he seems to love going nom nom nom on my flavors of marines.
See, if my signature block wasn't already in use, this would totally make it there. ><
DOn't worry Grignard. I shoot cheap ammo (.22, .45acp and 12ga when I shoot skeet) so if you lost (and you would ) it wouldn't set you back TOO much money.
You'd buy beer too. Can't go out shooting without getting a little buzzed first.
I have already played against a lot of people here, but I would like to try my hand against some of the best players.
My three would be:
Centurian99
40kEnthusiast
Who else out there is there and I have not played? Goatboy, Player A, Yermom, Mannahin
If Darkness is as good as Hod says he is, I would love to give him a try.
I would love to play he-who-can’t-be-named or any of his minions (I might be in his neck of the woods soon).
I want to also say Reese, but I think I might play him by the end of the month.
Rematches would be:
#1. Dash of Pepper.
#2. Darth Digger
#3. Blood Angel
I lost matches to them all for odd reasons, so I would like to have a go at them again.
Gwar! - His knowledge of the rules is encyclopedic, and he seems like a fun guy when not on YMDC Dark Lord Seanron - If for nothing else than to discuss background while playing
There are far too many ties for third to list.
I wouldnt mind playing Marc Parker again. When I first played him I was very new to tournament games, and got smashed hard. I think now that I am better I could put up more of a fight.
I heard that Marc won Bolter Beach this past weekend. o.O Possibly with Orks!
And on a side-note, I've been told that Stelek signed in to Vassal last night, joined a room where a bunch of people were playing 40k and started trash-talking me and starting rumors. Then he got booted.
He's decried Vassal in the past as worthless, but it could be that he could be cornered for a game!
Here is my laundry list of fellow Dakkites I have played:
yermom - BA vs. Nids (win), Necro 09
stormboy97 - BA vs. SoB with inducted guard (tie), Necro 09
darkwynn - BA vs. Eldar (win), Rhubarb Games 08
darkness - 2 losses & 1 tie, KenCon 07 & 08
Hod - many matches throughout my years in Florida, dead even
Lorek - many matches since moving to west Florida, one of the most fun & fair opponents ever!
Blackmoor - BA vs. Eldar (loss), Goblin Shoppe 08 RTT GMMStudios - BA vs. Eldar (tie), Coliseum of Comics 09
Shinkaze - three games (W/L/D) in Fort Lauderdale 08
Aldonis - team game (loss), BFSR 09
Ragnar - Adepticon 09 team tourney Orks vs. CSM (loss); Ard Boyz finals 09 BA vs. CSM (loss)... Ragnar is an amazing come from behind player!
The Everliving - Adepticon 10 Gladiator Deathwing vs. IG (win)
Dietrich - Adepticon 07 team tourney Emperor's Children vs. SW (win)
There are plenty more but those above are some of my favorites. Here are my three I would love to play:
1. Centurion99 (top tactician)
2. Thor665 (awesome guy)
3. stormboy97 (rematch, another top tactician)

The moderating team asked you to knock this kind of stuff off but I see you are still at it and I am going to set the record straight. I have only ever contacted your wife once and it was to tell her to cease & desist sending me her poisoned PMs. I can see know this was a setup so you can slander me. For the record you are despised by everyone I know in 40kWC. I heard so many stories about this weekend while running Bolter Beach... not one of them was nice. It is obvious you dont have the balls to play me, you know that I would crush you so you hide behind these wall of lies. Everyone who meets you wises up to you and your shennigans eventually.

Apparently we hear the same stuff, and from the same people. I could literally quote this, steal it for myself, point it at you...and it would also be the truth!
*EDIT*
BBF, come to the Nova Open. Mike is hosting Celebrity Deathmatches on Friday night. You think I'm a walking turd. I think you're a walking turd. Here's your opportunity for a scheduled, publicized, video-taped, spectatored, heavily reported and bat-repped game against me. You won't get on Vassal to play me, and think that because I don't drive 15 hours down to play a random game with you I haven't the balls to do so - here's your opportunity to not only smack me down, but do so publicly AND play in a GT with some WC members you don't see all that often, and most importantly for you as a TO, get a chance to see how a 40k tournament should be run, and steal some ideas from Mike that might kick your attendance from low 20s to 60+.
Seriously, if you guys are going to continue with this here then I call dibs on the right to be the bookie for this fight.
Currently I have Killkray as the favored winner with a Frazzelded bringing in a close second. Both of you are currently long shots at 100:1 as to who will win this thread.
BBF....can we mutually agree to dislike each other and be cordial to each other? A truce if you will. I don't mind that you don't like me; I only feed in because you add things like "And everyone else hates you too." I'll stop. Hopefully you will do the same?
I can't attend BOLScon; I'm in the middle of wrapping up my responsibilities with my current job in preparation for moving to FL; I didn't expect to leave my area (ever) but this promotion is on a truly epic scale - if there was a GT 15 minutes away from me June-July I wouldn't be able to attend; going to 'Ard Boyz semi-finals this weekend is already pushing it to the limit. I probably would have scratched the Nova Open off my calendar as well in August, but I've already paid and my wife really wants to see D.C.
Dash of pepper- Would be fun to play someone who is obviously a capable player (I would consider a Vassal game if I could work out how to use it)
Gwar- I think it would be funny and he appears to be a quite good guy behind all the RAW.
Little lord Fauntleroy- He always comes across as a funny person to meet.
I'd play Frazzled. The Norwegian Wolf vs the Texas Weiner Dog.
And killkrazy although the latter is going to be a Asian girl. And that would get werid. XD
If Frazzled weren't still in self suspension he would reply with:
Until that time, all the would be opponents of Frazzled just must ebe content in the knowledge of absolute weiner dog dominance (translation I suck but launching Rodney the Shanker onto the table insures total victory!)

I can't choose. I guess I would play against anyone. I might try to avoid Melissia and her AS 10 (Argue Skill lvl 10). My mind would be blown, no offense intended
Just clearing the air for the club Frazz, thats all I had to say.
BBF indeed doesnt speak for all of us in the WC on this. In fact Dash has been nothing but helpful to me getting Vassal up and running and was a nice enough guy to meet at the SVDM even if he did come on a little strong.

You're impressively informed about 40k communities
Comp is indeed HUGE in Sweden, contemplated going to a tournament over there, but the pages and pages with comp quickly put an end to those thoughts
I would like to play:
1. Hulksmash
2. Blackmoor
3. Dash
Would be cool to see how well I could perform against such competitive players. If Norway can get a 40kETC team up next year, and USA enters then too, maybe I can
Gwar, Mr-_-Flidd and Mercer. What can I say they just seem my sort of people.
Gwar probably because I'd like to beat him using some of his own RAW interpretations, showing just how stupid some of them are and GW, for making them. Then possibly beat him using the rule book just for the fun of it. (jk) Mr-_-Flidd and Mercer i will probably get to play in August anyway.
I'm sure I'd get rolled in every single game, but I think I'd have the most fun with them. I'm sure I would learn a lot of things about the game, and that's why I would want to play them.
Awwwww! I've even gotten a few mentions. I'm blushing!
Let's see:
1) Dash in person, instead of on Vassal (We narrowly missed playing on the top table at the Slaughter. Damn you REECE!!!!!!!) 2) GMM cause he's got to have pretty armies! 3) Anybody who isn't a dick and thinks they are pretty good since then it would be a fun good game (total copout because there are to many names)
Now and again John you truly do manage to make me laugh.
As for my response; I'd go with yakface (wouldn't waste hours of my day here without him and I'd enjoy being able to see and thank him in person), insaniak (argues rules well without hyperbole and makes some unique models as well), and Tri (mostly because of his avatar and how I remember the thread which birthed it, and on that day I felt his pain and shared it)
ArbitorIan: Because he has many odd armies that would be fun to look at in person, let alone play against.
Dashofpepper: Because I really respect his advice, and think I could learn alot about the game from him. He helped me turn my tau from a disjointed mess into a mean fighting force.
Warmaster: Basically for the same reasons as Dash. I respect his advice and learned alot about playing demons from reading his posts.
1. GWAR! (Talked to him over Skype. He walked me by the had through vassal40k. He seems cool, and hopefully I could get a vassal game with him soon)
2. Dash of Pepper (Heard he's good. I just wanna see HOW good. Sounds like another vassal game)
3.H.B.M.C (He has made me laugh SO many times, I just want to meet him in person, or at least talk to him)
(Now it looks like I got two, possibly three vassal games all lined up )

I'd like to play Insaniak and Gwar for much the same reasons... they both appear to know the rules very well.
Fraz I just want to play for the novelty factor of playing someone older than myself. Oh, and the Weiner Dogs.
"Son, I knew Nebuchennezar II and you're NO nebuchennezar II!" Frazzled on why the King of Sumeria just doesn't measure up.
First, Danny Internets - to find out what a "competitive" game is really like...
Then, Stormboy97 or Inquisitor_Malice - to actually play a good game
And finally, GMMStudios, to play a good looking game.

No no no, I dont count people who I have already played. I would love to have a game with you again sometime.
I learned how to play 7th Ed fantasy by proxying Tyranids as lizardmen and IG as Empire. It kind of sucked though due to no movement trays and round bases kind of disobeying the laws of corner to corner, edge to edge.

Anyways, I would like to have a go at Boss_Salvage specifically to see what his mind goes through, and what kind of tactics he uses. As if he likes to play conservatively, or aggressively, sacrificially, etc.
Hmm... I was going to say Luna, but I think her dance card is well and truly full
Think I'll stick with fellow Brits
Reds8n - comes across as the most chilled out guy around
Mad Dok - crazy man, but you can't fault his enthusiasm
Ketara - anyone who can organise an entire tournament has got to be worth a game
Unfortunately, as baby is now imminent, you'll have to hang on a year or so whilst I get my life back in order

Ridiculous.. Sort of getting disappointed with the modquisition here trying to move heaven and earth to protect a single poster.

I've got an idea - just be a little girl about it.
I've always admired our ability here on dakka to take a thread that should be positive and affirming about individuals in our community and turn it into a charnal house of embittered misery and suffering.
I'm not a sycophant, at all. And Albatross is 100% correct in his assessment. Could it also be said that discussing BBF and his plans for tournament going might also be OT in regard to who on Dakka one would theoretically like to wargame with?

I just recognise the futility of bleating about MODs on this site, especially on a thread. If someone has a problem with a MOD, they should take it up with them via PM instead of bothering everyone else with their butt-hurt crying.

Learn to read more closely.
I was not involved in the public exchange between frazzled and blood angel, in fact I did not comment on it either way which was my whole point.
When a mod decides he needs to address a forum member then that should not be the green light for the peanut gallery to pile on the guy AFTER the mod has done so.
All the "yeah what the mod said" type comments and other shots taken at at someone (often blatantly sycophantic) because you smell blood in the water or because you are trying to get a retaliatory response (happens regularly on Dakka) knowing the mods are already scrutinizing someone is rather lame and imho is one of the worst kinds of opportunistic trolling...

Mechanized eldar with walkers!
I know you play Tau, and strangely enough, Tau have been my toughest opponent yet, since the walkers die so fast to them...
I'd bring my 0 Railguns list.
Would want to play anyone but would especially like to face a BA list, an IG list, and a DE list. Though I'd probably disappoint my opponent. I'm getting outta practice, spending to much time on my Fan-dex and have my attention elsewhere IRL.

Umm.. editing my post is bs.. I did not make a personal attack.. i made a positive statement that it was mentioned on someone's blog that I despised someone else... I attempted to clear the air and say that I do not despise anyone..
Ridiculous.. Sort of getting disappointed with the modquisition here trying to move heaven and earth to protect a single poster.
Would you like me to ease you burden by permitting you to explore other avenues of authorship? It wouldn't be a problem.
To everyone else, lets get back on topic shall we?
Gwar because he knows the rules and because it would mean a euro trip. I'd move on to Kilkrazy to see japan again. Then the Mistress of Minis because I have friends in AZ that can drive me home and also because I'd want to try to bribe her to customize some of my figs for sushi. I mix my day 3 parts pleasure 1 part business, shaken not stirred.
1: Thor because he is a god at dark eldar and could help me learn to be a more affective fighting force.
2: Riffzor because i would find it interesting to see how this user plays after jumping around on so many bandwagons for different armies
3: KezerkinElite because we used to play all the time and hes a great guy to play with
1) Boss Salvage: Like his attitude towards the game and army selection
2) RI_Tides: The same!
3) Ragnar4: Lays claim to a good record, and does so with unconventional builds. Interested to see that put into practice.

Indeed you are! If we get together for a game, I'll make sure to bring some kool-aid for you so that you don't feel left out while I'm drinking Captain Morgan.

Sorry Golden... but I'm going to agree... you at least need 3-5 more years on you before you should be running with the drunk dogs...
Hmmmm. I'd play with anyone I think. I've been plotting a trip to Adepticon for aaaaages to meet some Dakkaites.
I'd especially like to have a game with some of the OT regulars I speak to the most.
But more important than the game are the pints afterwards!
I'd bring me horde orks. Hoping to get a game in in August with all these English chaps.

Are you coming to Silver Sorceror, DB? That would be cool.
I think teenaged drinking is a wonderful opportunity to destroy brain cells before full CNS potential is developed. Have one for me, Golden Eyed Scout!
I drink. But socially. I just find it insulting I can get cigs and join the army at 18 but can't get a drink. I guess you could say I am protesting against that law.
And just as a note I plan to never start smoking I'm just saying that you can start smoking before you can drink here in BC.
I started drinking AND smoking when I was 15. You shouldn't do it. It messes with you. Seriousy.
OT: I'd probably get a few games in with
1. Yak -because it'd be pretty cool.
2. DashofPepper -I'd learn a lot.
3. Whoever wants to pay for a plane ticket?
