I wouldn't worry, he is just creating alt accounts and voting for himself by visiting public libraries and using all the terminals in their computer rooms.
I'm just happy he's getting some fresh air although I am curious as to how the lock on the basement door succumbed to his chubby fingered charms...
... we are all going to play nicely now yes..please ! This has been light hearted enough so far, let's try and keep it that way please, I don't want to have to lock this.
Perhaps our nominess would like to make stirring speeches explaining why they should be voted for.
Alien 3 I can kinda understand, it certainly was weak compared to the first two (but at least it wasn't Alien Resurrection...), but Alien? The only excuse you could have for not watching all of Alien is being easily frightened...since I still think it's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. I haven't watched it very many times myself since I don't often have the balls to do so.

Because I have nothing else!
Anyway, I shouldn't even be on the poll, but...every vote for me is one inch taken off of Gwar's e-peen. Free abortions and miniature American flags for everyone if we can get him into negative numbers!

I'd love to have all memory of the Alien film erased from my memory. Then go watch it again, ideally at the cinema, not knowing anything about it.
That would be a trip.
Alien
Exorcist
The Shining (again)
The Wife and I saw Ferris Bueller's Day Off again at a midnight show a few years back, this time with wine, pizza, and real buttered popcorn. EXCLLENT.

That is one hell of a movie. And one hell of a way to see it. I used to live near the Arlington Cinema and Draft House in VA. Lord of the Rings is not the movie to watch when people keep bringing you pitchers.

The Exorcist was terrible, I was expecting a scary film, not fifteen minutes of some priest yelling "The power of Christ Banishs you!" while chucking water at her.
The Exorcist is a great film, and I would put it more in the realm of eerie film than horror film. It's quite the cultural touchstone, akin to the 70's Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
You do kind of need to get into the right 'mood' for a lot of these movies. The Exorcist, for example, is a definite 'slow burn' in that it builds to stuff, and you need to be kind of relaxed and thoughtful during the slow first half hour or so to get the best results when it gets weird near the end.
It won't grab people who drink/play games/laugh it up during the first part while waiting for the scary stuff, for example.
The movie was originally going to be called "When Owls Attack", but the people wanted the movie to be about aliens, so they shoehorned in 10 minutes of alien related footage and changed the name.
I hope that movie doesnt suck. It looked pretty freaky, until I found out it has to do with aliens? That was confusing..... I thought it was ghosts of some kind. Dammit

The 4th kind seems scary, I mean the trailer scared me

I'm sorry sir, but "crappy horror movie"? We're talking about the good stuff here, the stuff that's genuinely scary, not that bs that passes for horror today...most of which either try too hard to rip off classics like Alien, rely on having stuff jumping out at you all the time to "scare" you, or simply try to gross you the feth out with pointless violence and gore a la the Saw series.
Actually up to now ( 12th page )
over half of the posts are attacks towards some of the people in the list . I dont think im crazy to say some people are trying to shut this thread down.

My friend, welcome to the everlasting gobb-stopper thread. Every time you come back, it's a different flavor topic.

Amen! It's all shock and gore now-a-days. What do the kids call it? Gore-nography?
I'm not opposed to gore, I loved Silent Hill, but I think it needs the gore needs be appropriately placed. I think the new Hills have Eyes (not the sequel) and Dawn of the Dead are the upper limit for me. Both of those at least had enough of a story to hold my interest.
The House of a Thousand Corpses and Devil's Rejects were just stupid.
I only know about half of them. They usually cannot resist thier urge to demonstrate thier ignorance of good music by poking fun at my user name having no clue where it comes from. That's ok. Lots of people like butt rock.

Eh...I don't want to call them "stupid", since I like Rob Zombie's music (well, not so much his newer stuff), but yeah, they don't really appeal to me that much...I just can't get into it. I don't know why, I just don't like movies where the whole premise is basically "Horrible people do horrible things because they fething feel like it!"
But in my opinion the Saw series is the worst. They churn these things out in practically no time at all, and every single one is exactly the same: people get abducted and killed in brutal and "creative" ways because some guy feels like being an donkey-cave. Not to mention this guy is a bigger schemer and planner than even Tzeentch, by the sound of things, and he manages to do it all while on his fething deathbed...
I dunno, like I said I just can't get into it. It's not that I'm squeamish or anything (although what little I have seen of the Saw films made me physically ill, no joke), I just don't see what the point is.
Silent Hill is awesome, too, though I'm too much of a pussy to actually play the games...and lacking a console to play them on.

That's kind of how I settled on my current username. Years ago I followed a link to the Machinae Supremacy website, helped myself to all the free mp3's they had, and fell in love. I started using the name "Sidstyler" because the song of the same name was one of my favorites. I've even had a few people recognize where the name came from and say "Hey, Machinae Supremacy, awesome".

Okay, I have to reply to this:
Although I too feel that some of the gore in the Saw movies is a bit overdone, have you seen the last few? As of the last few (Since 3 technically), there is actually a more than the just killing-for-no-reason storyline developing, which was the only thing that made me watch 6 (some interesting stuff happened in that one)
The Shining is the only movie that consistently scares. Not on that cheesy quiet-quiet-quiet-LOUD! way that most horror movies operate but psychologically. By the end of the movie, you're sure that Jack is nuts and you're not so sure about yourself anymore. The Exorcist scared me the first time I saw it but has seemed funnier every time since. Emily Rose was a long, extra-boring episode of Law & Order. Saw was even more boring than that. I don't bother with horror movies any more. They're no fun to me. The last good movies I saw was the new Star Trek, actually. Hey, maybe the UM movie will be good.
Oh, and vote for Gwar!, for the sake of being on topic. I don't know why a thread so be locked for being off-topic anyway, as long as people are being nice. The conversation is still good. Mods must just be bored when that happens.
God no, and I think I'm better off. Whatever possible semblance of plot or meaning they could have, it isn't worth sitting through fething torture porn to find it. I just don't find the character or the story all that interesting, and I sure as hell aren't interested in the "traps"...

I liked Aliens, but none of the others. The only good part was Alien 3 where the preacher/prisoner goes all 'Sigmar Warrior' on the Alien. Real heroic moment that.

I'm going to have a special Halloween movie night later. My favourite Halloween-related movie, Nightmare before Christmas, something gory, Dead Snow, which just got a release in Germany and to top it off, something really scary: The Dragonball Live-Action Movie

Torture porn, I believe.
I hate the genre too, but Gore-nography" sounds pretty funny. ^^

I didn't get around to play any of the games yet (waiting for the Wii-remake) but I found the movie to be pretty boring. Also, Sean Bean didn't die. WTF?

I'm with Sid on this one. Maybe they have better story, but I'm not willing to sith through another 8 hours of Torture Porn for it. Gore in movies should be fun, like in Crank or shoot 'em up. Saw was no fun.
on topic: I stall want in the vote. Can we start again?
I watched the movie with little knowledge of the games, and liked it...kinda. At the time, anyway.
There are some good parts...the town as a whole looked pretty cool, but it fails for making pointless changes (Harry is a woman, snow is ash, pyramid head is awesome but shouldn't be here, etc.), and having a pretty crap ending.

Well I quite enjoyed super mario brothers movie once i got over how badly they'd got it wrong. If you want to try it out theres a copy on youtube (at the moment).
Got to say I've always had a soft spot for cheasy movies. One of my favours is Tremors ...
... who doesn't love what is effectively Jaws on land.
Tend to steer clear of horror generally, but the best one I've seen in recent years was The Orphanage. I was properly scared in that one. Practically no gore either (aside from when the old lady gets hit by the ambulance and has her jaw ripped off).
EDIT - Huzzah! I've just taken this totally off topic thread to 13 pages
Tried watching Zardoz last night, which the wife owns on DVD for some reason. After 20 mins chuckling at the general silliness of it all, I started to find it excruciatingly painful and had to turn it off.
Im meant to be out camping and getting pissed, but no-one wants to go cause its too col, so Im gonna sit in my house and watch horror films on my laptop all night, while getting drunk.
Dark City. A man struggles with memories of his past, including a wife he cannot remember, in a nightmarish world with no sun. Weird movie but one of my top 5.
Screamers. or Screamers: The Hunting (aka Screamers 2) Sci-fi robots hunting humans.
Videodrome ... Horror? Sci-fi film cable-TV programmer acquires a new kind of programming for his station and then it gets weird
Anung Un Rama wrote:I just watched Dragonball Evolution. I think it broke something inside of me.
I'm not a fan of dragon ball Z, in fact i hate it. Well congratulation Hollywood you manage to remove the last of the plot. Any one who gets a chance to watch this don't its a waste of time.
Sadly enough I was actually looking forward to that film. I'm not a big Dragonball Z fan really, but I liked the show and would have liked to see a live action version if for no other reason than to see how they do it.
I dunno...leave it to Hollywood to get everything wrong in almost every conceivable way.
Dragonball Z was one of my favourite shows as a younger kid, and yes the movie sucked. On Dracula, Keanu was terrible while Dracula was pretty good. And finally, Komodo vs Cobra was the biggest load of gak I've ever watched.
This whole thing lost all credibility as soon as people openly admitted to artificially inflating peoples vote counts and made it public know how on how to do it.
I've been watching the demographic trend here and if this was a serious vote I'd be very dubious about the sudden surge certain folks are getting considering their somewhat contentious reputations.
