@Illumini - these are my take of ork hunters detachment that operates in hive cities and underhives heavily infested with orks (as they are on Armageddon) rather than jungle. I think it's quite logical these would be made from Savlar veterans and probably work under the same command.

Need your advice. Slowly getting to the female part of the platoon.

Dug through a large number of miniatures before I found something that suits my purposes.



From left to right:

Chapter House female IG with FW renegade militia arms and female Catachan head;

Escher trooper, largely unchanged;

Female Catachan trooper with a custom head (part of sculpting commission, done by Brother Vinni for me; this is a test bald head; future versions will have different combinations of mohawks, goggles, gas masks etc - and yes, they will be available for purchase);

Copplestone military female, unchanged.

I plan to use different female minis of said manufacturers, but not deviating from the scale and style set above.

Here they are next to male troopers:



What do you think? Do they look good next to each other? Is there anything that needs adjusting or changing?

Oh, and for those of you who dig rag-tag militia styled IG (as much as I do ), here's an update of my non-Loyalist army:

First time i've posted in here, but i've been stalking it for ages! Glad to see this project aint dead. I've been taking inspiration from (Read: Stealing Ideas from) this thread for me own stuff, i LOVE it.

Genuinely batshiz models, my favourite's still the DKoK helmeted girl with the pigtails though. so perfectly apunkalyptic.

Great paint too, the dirtiness of it is perfect for them.

Newest stuff, do like, nice to see female guard, for now i'm just making do with bastardising escher models since i hate most shop's female guard, but that's mostly down to the heads! decent ones coming from Vinni would be awesome, i'd definitely pick some up.
Any idea how long it'll be?

Man, this has to be one of the scummiest, sleaziest IG armies I've ever seen-which, considering that they are the Savlar, is completely a good thing! I just love that banner, the gas masks and the bright colors really stand out from the grimy hues of the troops.

YES. They will only need a few headswaps and Chaos stars removed. Will be getting them as the part of starter box and will probably buy more from people who don't need the Chaos part of the set.

Besides, Vinni reported yesterday that heads are in the works and hopefully will be ready soon. Meanwhile, here's a photo of the base models for these heads (missing hair and accessories):


I believe you can order these from him despite them not being listed on his site. The price is twice the price of zombie heads (200 roubles, ~$6 for 5 heads).

Finally took the time to finalize and take pics of the new stuff!

First of all, the updated General. Thanks to Girelle for helping with paintjob.
The girl is magnetzied and can be turned around for 'maintenance mode' or removed as a wound marker.



Next is about 1/2 of my platoon. Some minis are repaints of old ones, some are new. I decided to experiment with 2 things:
1) Fluo paints and OSL effect (with simple drybrushing and washes);
2) Making a magnetized scenic base.
Both worked well I think.















And last but not the least, Yarrick himself, painted by my friend Under9 as a birthday gift:



Next to come are my 100500 unpainted conversions... and did I tell you I finally managed to get almost all Escher ganger miniatures? But that is a story for another time...

On a side note, I want your opinion on Yarrick's bolter - in codex, he has a storm bolter, but this mini has a singl-barrelled version, although it's an official one, only quite old (2nd edition if I'm not mistaken). Do you think a (seemingly master-crafted) bolter with a belt feed can work as a storm bolter? It's a nitpick, but some people are quite bitchy when it comes to WYSIWIG ^^

Good to see the chem dogs back on action. I think the copplestone bodies suit those heads just fine, and they don't look incongruous with the gangers. Love the shoota pic too

Where is that head from?

A bald head (from flagellants IIRC) converted with a Marine breather and goggles made from Russ commander binocular sights.

HWT/vehicle crew's binculars are your best source of plastic goggles.

I love the fact you have no issue with the slice and dice of miniatures, I would be gaking myself doing that much butchering but you do create some amazingly creative miniatures from it.

However I think the Russian miniature production lines help with that

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but Victoria Miniatures has these goggles and respirators that wrap-around. That is, you can put them on normal heads. I got some and they look fantastic, but I haven't actually used them yet.

I was originally thinking of similarly themed marines, a custom chapter employed directly by Inquisition, but, heck, when inventing count-as-Grey Knights it's easy enough to get carried away into Mary Sue heresy.

So, no, these are modest Crusader henchmen in the end.

And I can confirm he's working on a full model line of female IG with options to make them look like Cadians, Catachans, Savlars or generic modern/PA mercenaries. Will have a few multi-part troopers, officers, commissar, medic and maybe more.

Meanwhile, how about some 1:1 scale minis for a little RPG with home made rules?

I'm not dead. Not even quitting.

Though was tempted to, with new GW pricing and rules.

But new Imperial Guard (will never call 'em Astronaut Militarists!) dex turned out surprisingly decent. Fielding even more tanks and cannon fodder than before, for less points, yum! And Wyverns. Dem Wyverns.

And then I managed to grab a lucky auction - a total of 7 Russ tanks (2 of them being FW models) for 110 Euro.
Someone was getting rid of his Armored Battlegroup it seems.

Atop of that came a Baneblade for 1/3 of GW's price. Slightly damaged, but nowhere past a repair crew's work.

Not bad eh? In a dex that brings tanks to where they belong - at the food chain's apex. Nothing like BS4 Punishers turning Riptides into minced meat.

So, some armor is coming up soon.

Starting with a pink command tank.

Why pink? Well what other would these girls ride on.



Stay tuned folks. Can't promise being fast (a total of 8 tanks, 4 chimeras, 2 manticores and a baneblade to repaint is no joke), but at least I'm back on track.

Oh, and did I tell you it will have more Vinni-sculpted bare boob bearing babes on top of all that rusty armor? Well now I did.

I may even promote some 28mm sexuality with scenes of R&R involving helpless civilian ladies at the mercy of those nasty boys and girls in breathers. It gives my opponents extra reason to capture those... objectives. To rescue the damsels in distress, of course. 41st millenium is all about chivalry and rescued maidens, nay?

And once again I am back. Sorry for the lack of updates, life's been a bit more tense than I wanted to, and having more than one modelling project doesn't help either. Still, I decided to compose a little post that might be useful to fellow female Guard enthusiasts.

So I got a few minis from the first wave of Raging Heroes' Jailbirds: the banner bearer, the heavy machine gunner, the radio girl and the tank hunter. What can I say. They don't work well with 40k minis, not even because of size and scale, but because of style. The weapons are way off, the 'lasguns' being way too small and pistols the size of ork fingers, and overall sleek, streamlined sci-fi style with excessive detail suits Infinity more than 40k. They're also very tall, the size of a dark eldar. Still, they are some of the best designed PA/ganger/rebel female minis out there, Punky the banner girl is my absolute fave.
They blend in with Brother Vinni's girls well, though. I think mixing them both is a good idea considering Vinni's girls are nearly the same theme and size, but a bit more 40k in their design.
Here's the first pic, Punky with a few of Vinni's ladies. Two on the left are new stuff, unreleased, but you can order them from him already - one is a sniper girl and the other a banner girl placing her foot on a (chaos) space marine's helmet (yay!).


Here's a comparison shot of 2 generic male guardsmen and various female ones. From left to right:
GW (converted Cadian, not visible on1st pic), Victoria Miniatures (converted with Vinni's legs), Raging Heroes, Vinni (jungle fighter), Vinni (clothed sarge), RH, Chapter House (FW arms and Vinni's head), more Vinni (the smallest one in series), Copplestone (converted), Urban War, GW Escher, WGF (female survivor). As you can see, while they vary in size, the more or less fit the same scale and style.

This summer has seen some of the most awesome Wasteland Weekends in which I took part with glee and shine.

First, I had finished constructing myself a Proper War Helmet.

Then we set on our quest for guzzolene and bitz.

The warbikes went ahead.



With all GPS navigators dead to EMP shockwaves, we had to ask the locals for directions.


And took their women while we were at it.


The War Rig was accompanied by Violin Violators.




The next day, when we arrived in the camp...


...I faced the need to recruit more War Girls to our cause.
Not like we had too few...




But more is always better.

On the way back, some fellow named Max politely asked me if I've seen the War Rig.






Last time I saw Max, he was quite happy, too. I think he found his Plains of Silence.

A BIG one. In face, this (sorry for the photo quality, the camera somehow doesn't like 3 feet tall Gargants; and yes, that's a halfway WIP, nowhere a final model) will be a PART of it.

I can't believe it's been 9 years.

Anyway, the army is 98% complete and the 2% will take forever as usual. Magnetziing extra Russ guns, making proper HWT bases, and loads of fixes. Also, a Stormlord. No Chem-dog army is good without a Stormlord.

Still, it's 120 guardsmen and 20 tanks, all converted and painted, many heavily converted and pro painted.

This is but a teaser. Better and more complete pics coming once I get to it. Eventually.

Utterly epic. Thrilled to have seen this all the way through!

We will ride eternal, shiny and chrome.
