if caddius is the scout with with the chainblade holding high, well its just an normal scout i thought, i own thsi model at least two or three times, never thought it was a special one....
but if you mean by him your paintjob, the shoulderpads look in all your minis a nice weathered shade... very good if you aimed for it...

so i guess when i will be going on a buying spree i will be buying me some devlan mud...havn´t had one before... is it really that omnipotent? seems you can do almost anything with it....

ah i never knew about ravengurad fluff.... but if they use the raven, the death bird for their chaptername then the skin is a good resemblance viceversa ....

korvydae looks ace as mentioned before by me, you can even hear him scream at you while charging in YOUR FACE!...

did you attempt a bit of lightning effect on the hammerhead? if so i see also some blood stuck to it.... my advice: only one feature as when it was a forcehammer the blood wouldn´t stuck to it it would be frizzled away...

hmm...good point with the hammer. I'll re-do it with no lood. It wasn't meant to have a "lightning" effect, just be oozing power mysteriously, with blue and white...
and that is no normal scout...it's an M&S scout... no really he has killed:
deamon prince
monolith
20 necron warriors
2 vindicators
tactical squad
2 predators
chaplain
2 creeds
2 kells
2 company command squads
chapter master
2 land speeders
avatar of khaine
2 leman russes

over 11 games. In close combat. Alone.
there is more but that's what I can't rememer off the spot.

It stands for Marks & Spencers, a british shop. In all thier adverts they say stuff like "this isn't just a chicken, it's an M&S chicken."

He is quite old now, having turned down several invites to join Caan's honour guard tea party, prefering to stay as sergeant. He's even older than a few captains. In the game that he killed a tactical squad, 3 bikes chased after him. I callidus assassin jumped in and killed them, and they ran off into the sunset. Mrs Caddius now has 2-year-old boy, training to be an assassin just like her. Aw.

yeah, not completely into girls yet, well, actually, it's the other way round...lol...I just don't like any of the girls my age...
But yeah, shopping list needs to compensate for gum, other food, clothes and other miscellaneous distractions...when I say I've got my eye on something not-40k related, nag me until I don''t buy it.
unless I have more money than expected...
counting in about £30 for clothes and food, It'll be:
no extra cash- end of march (birthday)
leaflet round- end of january (this time next year)
saturday job- end of year (as well as a load of extra money spent on other stuff)

But you never know- the GK money is only for 20 PAGK, a character, 5 TAGK and a rhino-STC/walker or 20 PAGK, a character and a stormraven (probably the latter).

as far as we can tell:
50pt upgrade that gives units 2++.
power weapons to normal GK.
2+ for PAGK?
dreadknight?- a MC
assassins whose sniper shots destroy any invulnerable saves for the rest of the game.
stormravens available
couple of new characters
plastic TAGK & PAGK
ISTs are available, but only as henchmen.
IST squads are unlocked if you take Inquisitor lord Coteaz.

this will sell a millions when released.... this will test my abilities as well to compose myself against buying some of these...

dreadknight sopunds like a Dreadnought for GK??? cool
and the ISTs sound like new IG minis to have more variety on the table when fielding blobs...

Not confirmed yet, but I hope so.
BTW lenore nearly finished (can't find my bleached bone for purity seals, AARGH!)
IF libby nearly finished (I can't see anything that needs doing, but...it's just...missing...that...extra...extra something, you know?
champion nearly finished (complete with lightning-style power weapon)

I need to do the champion's shield and bolt pistol, paint over a couple of unintended patches of paint on lenore (no biggie), and paint the IF libbie's face and find that extra something. Hopefully finished by next week. I'll post pics once I get either all the termies done, or audax and lenore done, or the sanguinary guard jump packs.

need to get for DKoK:
battleforce, death rider, commander, 33 cadians w/bits, trenches.
need to get for raven guard:
stormravens, landing pads, blank decal sheet, dreadnought.

BTW, update:

öhm what about Darkwing? no serioulsy...

also ravenwing would be nice but obviously taken...

had a quick stroll through a translation site and i sought the word crow there and they gave me "a murder of crows" as in flock of sheeps... nice isn´t it?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
also this might help?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raven

this plane is called corvus phantom...so phantom would be a good choice i guess...also with the whole corvus and raven you could consider going nebula and other november originated names sakes...

or what about black wing?

Post by: shrike

Nebula...I like it, but I fear people might make the more obvious connection from
40k -> space -> nebula
rather than
raven -> nebula

phantom...looking at the stormraven...it just doesn't suit it.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
wow...looking up "corvus" into wikipedia came up with the option of "Marcus Valerius Corvus". Corvus is latin for raven, and in legend Marcus was fighting Gaul, and a raven landed on marcus's head and distracted Gaul. Valerius is the name of the imperial guard commander stationed on deliverence during the heresy who convinced commander branne (IIRC) to fly over the istvaan, saving the salamanders and raven guard. lol.

BTW Viktor Croaks will be mounted on a horse.
the rest of his squad won't be, but he will be treated as a replacement for a commander (same stats and rules), but can leave the unit to go ride off or something.
I might model him w/o the vox, and make him signalling with a cane, much like this:

not tucked under the shoulder, but in a pose like this:

I can imagine him, a monocle-wearing, cane and power-fist wielding commander, charging alone through no-man's land on a horse...
This is provided his cloak fits when he's on the horse...

saw that tucked cane arm on ebay and i will shortly buy this arm^^ for a conversion of mine as nothing says i am in chrge than such a useless weapon...^^

Marcus Valerius Corvus has definitly the right ring to it as a name of high power!

i had some research too and the obvious choice i think you dont want to make or? huggin and munnin? two stormraven...well this is the real chance to use them and with an alternating paintscheme then? so to better show they are twins...?

I might do white wings or cockpit...
Valerius is already in RG fluff, so no-go there.

apparently, the raven is most famous as being symbolic of death and a messenger, so:

vaitor (latin for messenger)
vindico (latin for to deliver/punish/liberate/avenge/protect)
excipio (latin for to capture)

I think vindico and excipio are my favorites.

Well, in terms of Latin, you could always go with something near Umbra, but I would still suggest Poultor, just considering the shape of the Storm Chicken (unless you're using a modified look maybe?). Warp, even the Phantasm could go, but that may be a bit overused. I recollect that one of the strike cruisers in the Raven Guard's arsenal during the Heresy was the Shadow of the Emperor, until the Death Guard destroyed it (least, according to Cadian Blood, by Dan Abnett, where the Raven Guard make an appearance, thereby making it canon), so that's where I' coming from, besides the Chicken remarks, instead making fun of the look of the SR, as I am certain you can appreciate.

I'm having marines on rappel-lines (connected to thier belts), firing bolters one-handed, with a scratch-built dread-holding arcade claw on the back.
shadow of the emperor was indeed a raven guard ship.

Isn't murphy's law "what can go wrong, will go wrong, at the worst possible time, in the worst possible place"?
or is that sod's law? I forget.
the answer is...
*drum roll*
because when you find it, you don't carry on looking do you? So it's the last place you look!

vik- I was looking at the hellhound/banewolf/devil dog and the chimera- both the same hull and similar turret, but the chimera is £10 less. So I was going to convert one. Any idea how big the hellhound nozzle is?
I might have to scratch-build the muzzle...
never mind- I'll be buying the bits for about £3 including P&P.

£23 hellhound!!!

sounds cool...i would normally tend to scratchbuilt the parts as i have collected quite a few small flasks from making cake and stuff...rumaroma and stuff... and will be having the chassis probably also from scratch...

something like that for the hellhound...

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_s-SGmXnB2PY/SkOc_crxtBI/AAAAAAAAEJM/7KOEv6EEJgM/s1600-h/1hellhound.jpg

the devil dog would be a bit taxing to do but wasn´t there a chassis that used a gatling like weapon?

picked out a b-day list for my dad, and I've asked for the furioso, which should shave off a month.

Viktor von Domm wrote:so how was the meal...and you cant go wrong with ac/dc^^

meal was okay- I would have taken pics shortly after but I cut my thumb...
here's the story:
-I get told to make my sandwiches for school.
-No bread left.
-Mum- "Get a panini"
-me- "It's going stale"
-"It'll be fine."
-I cut at it with a bread knife.
-I push harder than normal to get through the harder outside.
-I break through, but simultaneously cutting my thumb.
-lengthways, running alongside my thumbnail, cut finishes about 2cm into the skin.
-I feel barely anything- papercut kind of pain, and go tell my mum.
-She runs it under the tap, puts a tissue on it and keeps pressure on it.
-I feel faint and have no energy.
-I lay on the floor with my arm in the air above heart-level to stop the bloodflow.
-I get skin tape that holds skin together, a big plaster and bandage tape on it.
-I feel better and watch TV.

AC/DC- shoot to thrill is my fave, followed by the razor's edge and if you want blood (I got it- in my thumb )
So pics will be taken byt the weekend.

just seen these bad boys on FW:

my ac/dc favorite is thunderstruck and highway to hell asa seen in my slighter version of the titel in my sig...
if your a fan of ac/dc you definatly have to see iron man the movie...either part...then the sound gets an awsome new dimension^^

the flamertank is really cool...about time some cooler flamertanks appaer...the troopers look some kind of funny...strange scheme me thinks...last pic not working...

left thumb, but I was naughty and convinced a teacher that I was left-handed and "had" to use his laptop...
Get the iron man AC/DC album- it's basically greatest hits- and they've been re-done to sound better.
shoot to thrill, rock & roll damnation, guns for hire, back in black, thunderstruck, razor's edge, war machine, TNT, highway to hell, loads...

the thumb's healed up loads- it was 2cm, but now I've taken the plaster off after getting in the shower it's about 1cm...I think it's something to do with the fact that we got it all plastered and stuff in under 2 minutes...

He never really pays much attention to most of us, there's a select 8 or so he does.
I got highway to hell, back in black and let there be rock on my Ipod, but in CD's I've only got the iron man one. You've gotta get it if you like AC/DC...only problem is it's in a cardboard sleeve...maybe find a spare CD case?

just thought I'd put in my tp 15 songs here:
AC/DC- shoot to thrill
Shinedown- devour
Foo fighters- the pretender
Nirvana- smells like teen spirit
Venus in furs- inside
Iron maiden- run to the hills
Bon jovi- keep the faith
Black sabbath- paranoid
Motorhead- ace of spades
Bill talent- red flag

gun's n' roses I like the classic "sweet child of mine".

have you seen space balls, the american spoof?
my job is pretty simple- take on the flats (the background), and then back on again.
It's a load of different schools, and we're crewing our school's bit- for me about 1 minute's work, then it's back to the green room and having games of jenga, reading books, bouncing balls, eating and playing twister.
school time well spent. ^^

I am back!
our school came second out of 10 others, and we also won the awards for most interesting storyline and best lighting design- we were even up against a professional guy- we had a 15-year-old.

no news yet, but I now have about £25, meaning I'll get the stormraven in about 3 or 4 weeks.

the backstage crew, or "tekkies" as we are commonly known as, get little fame or fortune.
£41 for a stormraven.

Well I'm off to eat, I'll be back soon...
BTW I got bored and converted a shoota boy to a burna.
He has the body of a shoota boy, but holding the trigger and end of a shoota, the main body of which is a sentinel leg (I know, wierd, eh?), and ending in a flamer barrel. This gun is connected via tube to a fuel tank on his back. He looks decent, and when I accumulate the bits I'll make a squad of them.

orks were my second army which I bought off my brother- I then added mr potato head and a further 10-man squad. It currently sits at around 60 boyz (inc. 3 nobz), ghazzie, the AOBR warboss, 5 nobs, robospud, a battlewagon, a deffkopta and 5 kommandos.
the thumb's getting better- as long as I have a plaster on it and I don't bang it, it's okay. I can't button up my top button of my school shirt, though...darn it- no suffocating at school...

Well, since it's half term, I'll be busy painting and such. I still need the right parts for the dread's arm- I did have the FW seige dread DCCW, but I've lost the wrist and arm. I have the main mount, so I've cut up a sentinel's legs and used a foot as a CCW, with the "toes" bent forwards...I just need the right forearm...

I reccommend the following kits for IG to build:
-sentinel. The legs are just too fun to pose.
-command squad. Lots of bits, extra weapons, and even a bandage roll and banner.
-catachan. The poses can be really fun.

well i got five catachans last week and built my vets from them... so i fully have to say i loved making them... now with the heavy weapons i say they are cool too...

got a half spend HQ sprue and i want to do the sniper next...this will take some time as some bitz have to arrive in the mail...

well i think the sentinel would be lovley too, but i got me now five of the red block walkers from AT 43 and they will have to be the sents now...

buying up already built minis isn´t as much fun as building them themself...but it gets you almost three times as much mins...deal with the devil and all that stuff...

I'd buy the tanks and metal kits, as they're no fun to build...plastics infrantry? Go nuts. Unless you're fed up with it.

of course... i guess now i should post some of my cavalry minis...got lots of fantasy imerial pistolieres riders and a noble rider from an old fantasy range too...and then some lancers (about 5-8 i guess) so i have quite a steampunky force waiting to be painted and remodeled...

i think it will take much longer with plastic kits to get fed up with... thats for me now the major fun part...only downpoit here re the fething moldlines...darn things...

Post by: shrike

and now moar here:

"The army, so far, consists of Lenore, Audax, Praxis, 5 sternguard, a command squad, a kitbashed sanguinary guard unit, 5 devastators, an ursus rhino, a sanguinary priest, 5 "snipers" (name pending) and will soon get some allied ordo xenos and malleus. Later on: Due to gungnir's specialisation in hunting chaos and assassinations, they often encountered temple assassins and inquisition along the way- the inquisitor operating in-system was inquisitor Velox, famed for leading the assault on a tyranid hive ship and personally killing the norn queen, saving most of the deliverance system- a useful ally to have. Also, there is a small detachment of malleus operating in the nearby Targus system, in a training base on a small moon. In charge is brother Altus. Responsible for this base, but not in-system, is librarian Vendolius. Later gungnir's elite will go on to form a deathwatch squad, which will then prove so sucessful that they will be charged with training grey knight neophites and serving alongside the grey knights in action, becoming members of the ordo xenos. the majority of muninn go on to found a sucessor chapter- the bespoke talons, led by chapter master Lenore."

Praxis is armed with a heavy flamer, tactical dreadnought armour and his crozius arcanum. He is an old and venerated chaplain, and is the master of sanctity's right-hand man. He rose to this position through a campaign against the orks of a small tribe- the head hittaz. Led by warboss 'eadbasha, the orks had grown in prominence, and managed to become the leading tribe on thier planet. they quickly spread like wildfire across the system, recruiting other orks to his cause. when they stumbled across a bik mek who is only known as da 'armara, all hell broke loose. They pillaged through the system, and became large enough for a full-scale waagh!. The local PDFs were overrun, but the message got through before comms were cut short. And so the Muninn battle company responded in full force. Chaplain Praxis had served the raven guard for just over century when he arrived on the planet of Ghendor.

The twenty thousand astartes were greeted with a brigade of battlewagons, led by da armara' himself. The astartes became prepared for this, and had donned flamers and meltaguns in place of missile launchers and plasma guns. The space marines accounted for over 300 battlewagons that day, engaging in brief hit-and-run attacks in rhinos and on bikes. that is, until 'eadbasha arrived on da armara's kustom battle fortress. standing twice the height of a land raider and londer than a baneblade, the marines were ground under it's massive deff-rolla, including the then master of sanctity Chaplain Vetus. Then Praxis appeared in it's path. His rosarius saved him from being crushed by the huge, fume-belching monstrosity. Somehow clambering up the front of the ginormous vehicle and bringing his heavy flamer to bear, he torched the inside of the foul tank, stopping it in it's tracks. 'eadsplitta stormed out of an escape hatch in the side of it, fuming about how Praxis killed "da armara". He ran at the chaplain, and swung with his giant axe. The chaplain locked it with his crozius arcanum, and for a few moments, they were locked in place, each with both arms on their weapons. As the chaplain was slowly pushed into submission by the giant, he snarled through his skull-helm: "Victorus...aut...mortis." and drove his helmet into the beast's face. The ork lurched back, howling and clutching it's nose, when the chaplain burnt it into the ether with all the fury of his heavy flamer. With the death of thier leaders, the orks scattered and were swiftly killed by the remaining space marines. Vetus's broken body was entombed inside a chaplain dreadnought later.

"After the space marines had finished the remaining pockets of resistance weeks later, they were in the ritual of burning the ork bodies to prevent thier spores sprouting more of them up in the future. Then a huge smoke-belching monstrosity burst out of the side of a nearby hab, followed by a horde of thousands of orks, wiping out a full company of marines and several platoons of imperial guard. Apparently da armara had survived, and been buried under his battlewagon. His loyal grots had repaired him with bioniks and he had re-awakened, and spent the following weeks building and customising a stompa. He smashed through orks, men and astartes alike until he came across Praxis' accompanying land raider and flattened it with it's stomach-mounte cannon. It then smashed it's occupants, praxis' honour guard, into paste with it's giant wrecker ball, before making it's way through the imperial lines in an attempt to get away in all the confusion. Redirecting the group's deverstator squad's fire from the horde to the escaping stompa, praxis waited for the right moment. He gave the order to fire, and 3 missile launchers made it on target, the first making a mere dent in the thick armour, the second making a hole in it, but ultimately causing no serious damage, and the third, fired by sergeant Galenus, flew true straight through the hole and detonated the fuel stocks, blowing it from the inside out. The vast majority of the ork horde were destroyed in the ensuing conflagration, with da armara escaping from his prescious stompa moments before it exploded using an emergency conveted shokk attack gun to teleport away... "

so... second try^^

this installment of your fluff reads a whole lot better, scenic action and character portray...
i think you can build on this a whole lot of stories...you have a potential writersgene in you!
one minor thing i would change is the beginning... when writing fluff you have to decide if you want to do a listing of charcters or trying to tell a story... with this piece of fluff you did both and if you seperated both you would get more points from me^^ the begining reads a bit like a list and then gets on full steam in a blazing history lesson of your chapters far off legends and then you reach a point where you begin to tell an epic battle...big heros against even bigger villians...
you can do all of that and all of it would be cool and i will promise to like all! but mixing it is like mixing a hamsandwich with straberry icecream and a chewing gum...all good on their own but a bit too much together...did i make that understandable?

It then smashed it's occupants, praxis' honour guard, into paste with it's giant wrecker ball
....

with a line like that i think you give a good scenic description...but.... i think you could do a better one as this sounds a bit to comix like... you almost see that big letters above going: "BAAAM" ---"SMASHHH"---""FLUTSCHHH"...in big crayon colors...i think with that you kind of take away some of the awsomeness of your storytelling...üicture the scene in your head and then try to think like an old fart...and then how he would use the wording^^

dont get me wrong you got me with your chapter line hook and sinker and i am eager to read a whole lot more of their tales... hopefully real soon...whatr i think would be classy were stories of their everyday life... that would be a great challenge...and would make the big battles later so much more thrilling...you could do the part where they root out the remenant orkinfestations in that system...on a dayly basis slaughtering the orks... how the big characters interact with their fellow battlebrothers and such stuff...

hope i have not shyed you away from writing as i think with a head like yours you can make lots of cool stuff...in the spirit of the saying: you gotta teach`em while they are still young^^

vik (who still shys away from writing fluff in a foreign language...)

thanks, and I'll take it into consideration. I might make a second article with the actual story, and edit this one to have lists and the bare core of the characters...yeah I'll do that.
Having a day-to-day account of a space marine on an ork-infested world sounds cool, and I might adapt the fluff to have all three main characters in, as well as an ordo xenos inquisitor...

Hey, vik!
I got a furioso for b-day, and I'm wondering whether to have it as GK or raven guard (RG "death company" chaplain dread or GK "libby" dread (instead of FW and rag cannon, NFW and psycannon))
so which? The sons of corax or the daemonhunters?
I think, as the raven guard are nearly done (stormraven and CH bits left), then I'll go GK.

But I've already put hints of it into my fluff...and it's too late now, he's already nearly done. I must say he's going rather well- Imagine a libby dread with psycannon for an arm, storm bolter on NFW, all the libby insignia and BA logos gone and a TAGK head instead of the death mask. I need to wait 'til saturday for the psycannon and TAGK head, but he's doing well.
Fear not- once I get up to around 1500pts, I'll be getting a chaplain dreadnaught with claws.

I'll build as much as I can (going to LGS around 12:00-ish) in the time I have, take pics around 5:00 and upload them in the evening...
unfortunately my mum's gone off to geneva (switzerland) on a business trip, will be back saturday and going off again monday, so I have no idea if she'll be too tired to show me how to upload the pics (I'm hopeless with computers- upload this and dowload that, system errors, ect.)
Oh, and to make it easier, how do you upload to dakka? I did it a while back, but that was with a different PC and camera.

if you have the pics on your pc then that is easy peasy...go to your gallery and then you select upload more pics...then you can upload 10 pics at the same time each so this may take a while...you have to place the pics in a suitable folder on your pc...and then you jsut pick each pic and upload it ...rather easy...even i could do it first time^^

Just checked out the "Upload" thingy, and it all makes sense (for once).
So, just to make sure:
take pics -> USB cable goes into laptop -> save under my pictures -> dakka gallery -> browse -> upload?
I think this is what I'm gonna get:
dreadknight (trygon-sized dreadnought piloted by a TAGK)
inquisitor
vindicare assassin
10 termies
libby
interceptor squad (teleporting PAGK's)

Okay so the GK dread has gone well...
Imagine a librarian dreadnought...
with all the libby and BA symbols cut off...
with a storm bolter mounted on top of the blade of the NFW...
with a giant storm bolter, with 7 barrels arranged in a circle mounted on a dread...
with the dreadknight bare pilot head inside instead of the death mask...
with a few GK symbols stuck on for good measure...
and there you have my dreadnought.

My dreadknight has the heavy incinerator (flamethrower)-type thing and the giant sword.
That's all I've built so far, and because of mother's day today (going out) and all, I don't know if pics will happen...
I also have, unassembled, 10 terminators, 5 PAGK's, an inquisitor being shipped and a partridge in a pear tree.
Later on, I will be buying a vindicare assassin, 5 more PAGK, 4 psykers, 3 crusaders and repainting my chimera and IF libby (diorama is not gonna happen anytime soon)

yeah...
the psykers can unleash a S3 AP6 5" blast shot, but for every extra psyker, it gains +1S and -1AP, so 4 gives me a S6 AP3 5" blast shot a turn for 40pts.

Not really...
the 5 PAGK's are built-
one stabbing downwards, finishing off an injured enemy,
one just looking around,
one holding his NFW like a pike, trying to impale a charging foe,
one spreading flames from his incinerator,
one about to swing his hammer two-handed.

All were easy to do, with the exception of the hammer guy (his arms and hammer had to be glued simultaneously to make sure it fitted).
the stabbing guy was a simple matter of cutting the blade off and pinning and gluing it back on the other end.

personally i think the dreadknights arms and legs sections look classy and somehow give even the aliens heavy loader look we all love to bits... but that whole pilot to be exchanged with another one, cause the termie is only sitting there hanging up with his cool robot look is just stupid in my book...

here is my suggestion... cover him up totally, make it look like he sits in some kind of compartment like a sentinel pilot...that could help the look... also taken into account that i dont know the knew fluff of the GK i dont know the backgroundf of the DK is he also a terminally wounded GK that is now forever encased in a big `chine? or is it just a warmachine that needs a pilot...which can be exchanged whenever needed...?

Been busy recently, but sadly not on 40k. Just about to have dinner, and if it's still light I'll take pics.
Been fiddling about with the dreadknight and a sentinel cockpit, but I can't get it to work. If only the torso, arms and head were there, then it would. But the sentinel cockpit is only as big as that, so I get a pair of termie legs poking out the bottom.

currently konvertin' dem to be good an' propa killa kanz.
dey is all 'aving da flame frowerz dat come wiv dem, but da barrels of da shooty gunz is being cut off an' close killy weapons added in place.
as well as dat, dey is 'aving da killa kan fronts on dem, but over da normal torso, so dey are like welder's masks, jus' like propa burna 'umies 'ave.

hope that was understandable ^^
pics will happen when I'm happy with them (but before they're undercoated so you can see what's killa kan and what's Kollossus)

something like that:

it really is a value for your hobby projects... might be around 15-20 pounds tho but if you buy a cheap one you later will want a better one... so the cheaper alternative would be to buy the better straight away,,, also i today bought me a circle cutter to even cut bigger circles than the holepunch allows... now 1 to 15 cm circles from cardboard are no problem anymore^^

problem is that his back, due to the gas mask tank across it, has around half a centimetre of spare space. there is an area lower down which'll fit better, but I doubt an esteemed commissar would have his personal iconography on the bit of trenchcoat covering his arse ^^

so if a commissar is right then he's right and if a commissar is wrong then he's right because a commissar is always right but he can't be wrong because he is right. *head explosion*

i´d leave the icon off totally... IF you feel up to it you could add the laurels as a kind of seam to the coat... that could work...

pretty impressive stuff. and fully justified the long wait for some updates in pictures...

the commissar is the best mini i can say that so far... his paintjob is quite good (i say quite as i spotted some minor needs for touchups, me i can´t be all praise...) i lkie that he got the mauser, looks really good on him, it is the size of a boltgun for him, but the style is there to recognize... thanks for that and be sure to show it in zinges thread as well...
also the shadowsord is cool, the brownish color on some parts, an attemnpt at weathering and rust or a slight camo? either way, it looks cool.

if i would sum it up i have to say, some colors you do good and some other s you have yet to master. black and mostly brown you can do very well, the green on the shadowsword looks top! a drybrush there too? seems so to me...
the white seems to be too thick, but that is in fact a common problem... the paint is to my opinion just crap... one of these days i have to switch to valejo...
also there is something odd namly shiny on your red...very glossy... did you aply a wash already on your greyknights?
by the way the scheme is very uniquue and we have yet to see a fully painted knight to really vote for him... but i think this will be an outstanding scheme...
also i totally love the killakans^^ the drills i´ve seen and the faceplates look so lovley on those kans^^ they will be real cute once finished^^ love the pose of the grey knight about to smash^^

also this guy:

i have high hopes for him... will you do him with a black or a brown coat? i sugest the latter... to go with a brwon head... he will be ace looking!!! one day i will get me this one too...

with this libby you see hopefully that maybe next time you use a grey or white primer... although the metal bitz and the black of course will look mint when doen, the other parts suffer from a too thick layer of paints... for some reason from what i´ve seen your kans aren´t so thickly sprayed... the libbby has suffered much more, thus loosing deatil in my eyes... also i see tho he is still wip he needs lots of touchups... is that right gun of him in the set? cool thing always had a thing for gatlings...

oh and forgott, form what i see you are well on top of the metal paints... i found them sometimes tricky to do, but yours look very well done... specially the eupauletes on the croakes mini...

i am very glad to see some of your work done in pics^^

cheers, vik

with this libby you see hopefully that maybe next time you use a grey or white primer... although the metal bitz and the black of course will look mint when doen, the other parts suffer from a too thick layer of paints... for some reason from what i´ve seen your kans aren´t so thickly sprayed... the libbby has suffered much more, thus loosing deatil in my eyes... also i see tho he is still wip he needs lots of touchups... is that right gun of him in the set? cool thing always had a thing for gatlings...

oh and forgott, form what i see you are well on top of the metal paints... i found them sometimes tricky to do, but yours look very well done... specially the eupauletes on the croakes mini...

i am very glad to see some of your work done in pics^^

cheers, vik

I am yet to master white, but by far the easiest way is through cheating and using white primer.
the brown on the shadowsword is camo.

the libby actually isn't thickly painted at all, it's just the flash on the camera really shows up some on the raised details.

I thought brown coat too.

the red paint isn't glossy much, it's just the flash really picks it up.

fully painted knight, I'll see if I have time to do one this weekend.

the brown on the shadowsword is drybrushed, problem is sometimes I can do it very well and others it looks too flat for my liking...

I feared I'd have to ignore the icon, but rest assured he will be known as Viktor Croaks to me ^^

Viktor, I think, is my best infrantry model so far (paintwise).
what bits need touching up? I want both C's! ^^

ok, so here comes the criticism:

look closely at croaks...the rim of the coat is done in red, which is a very good and fitting idea, but when you look at how it is done there are gaps and partly you have gone into the larger areas of black too...i think this should be done first all around with a drybrush attempt(?) and later retouched with black...make it thus stronger (red) and sharper (with strong colorfrontiers)...
also there are some minor spots on the boots where the brown is not consistent enough...centre parts...
the chest looks really good, nothing to criticise there same with the shoulders... maybe do some more details on the gun? could be tricky but would look great...
and about the base there are some white spots (glue?) which should get some love...

i think for now this was all...

oh forgott...maybe some very thin hint of red on his goggles of the mask?

the white spots are glue, if not the camera flash.
not gonna risk messing up the mask so I'll leave as-is.
I'll take look and touch up the red edges and boots.

so not much going on ATM, but a recent trip to my FLGS encouraged me to get cracking. When I build up the funds to do so, I will carry on my death korps, but going for the more expensive method of cadians + steel legion heads, meaning £35 per squad, meaning minimum infrantry ^^
I'm thinking maybe 3 squads in a platoon, 2 veteran squads, a hades breaching drill, engineers, and then enough tanks to notch it up to 3,000 points.
I want around 2,000 points of regular 40k squads, and things like my shadowsword to hit apocalypse size.
I will have to include them in my "sons of corax" story, but obviously as a sideline force so as to not stray from the raven guard too much...
maybe it will happen in a big battle, with orks fighting death korps, with inquisitor Velox present, and Lenore goes to that world with his assorted forces. I'll try and knock together an army list over the next week.

yup ^^
I'll write up the army list on here and edit it later because knowing me I'll loose any paper I write it on ^^

so first try:

general-commissar- 90pts
power sword
carapace armour
meltabombs

company command squad- 182pts
power sword
bolt pistol
melta bombs
vox caster
meltagun
carapace armour
heavy bolter
2 bodyguards
astropath

platoon command squad- 72pts
bolt pistol
vox caster
meltabombs
power weapon
flamer
grenade launcher

infrantry squad- 105pts
power fist
meltabombs
vox caster
meltagun
krak grenades

infrantry squad- 82pts
bolt pistol
meltabombs
vox caster
2 flamers

infrantry squad- 90pts
plasma gun
vox caster
power sword

engineer squad- 160pts
meltabombs
demo charge
gas grenades
vox-caster
+5 men (10 in total)

hades breaching drill- 50pts

centaur- 40pts

3 cyclops demolition vehicles- 75pts

3 leman russ battle tanks- 555pts
3 lascannons
3 heavy bolter sponsons

total- 1501pts

one point off...aw man...

Article Discussion: User:shrike @ 2011/07/31 21:09:30

Post by: Viktor von Domm

that one point wouldn´t bother me... the hades drill is quite a cheap one, eh? and do you own the 3 LR already?

Post by: shrike

on PSP ATM so it takes a good 30 seconds to load a page. hades drill is the biggest bargain in 40k IMO- large S10 template over where it deep strikes, S10 ram and any engineer squads can arrive at the place it arrived. and i already have the tanks. will fully explain stuff tomorrow.

I already have the tanks, and I'll upload pics when I next go on a spray paint spee and get round to primering them ^^

I want 500 more points, then will add shadowsword, maybe get a leman russ eradicator (like a regular LRBT, but ignores cover saves- perfect for seige work)
might also add another squad in, but that would cost me around £250 to make up the 2,000 points.
shadowsword domination force will be fearsome indeed, but will need a few sentinels (maybe two or three)
that is a datasheet that lets 1+ shadowsword, 3+ LRBT's, and 0+ sentinels go together as a squadron. Any structure points taken on the shadowsword can instead be passed on to destroy a leman russ, and any hits on a leman russ can be passed on to a sentinel, so it's a nice meatshield heirarchy.
that's an added 550 points for that, plus 2 sentinels is 720...hmm, 280 more...
well, it's apocalypse, maybe they'll be joined by Velox and his henchmen.

the cyclops demolition vehicles are basically tiny tanks that can't do anything other than count as demo charges on wheels, controlled by an operator up to 24" away.
they drive into the midst of the enemy and blow up.
but they are 25 points each, so if it takes out just two space marines (which it well could), then it will more than match it's points.

holy crap... another 250 pounds... you add the big sums like anything^^ the meatshield sounds like a good strategy to last a bit longer in a battle... this way the shadowsword will get plenty oportunities to grind enemies to dust...

if the cyclops have to be steered by an operator... is the operatort seperatly to be picked out or is it cyclops after cyclops and then the operator? like always the common tactical SM dies first then HW and then the sarges?

£250...hrm...it's not too bad for a 2,000 point guard army, let alone death korps...
one puzzling thing, is that £35 a squad is what forge world charge for a death korps squad.
death korps are a lot more detailed and look better, but the combo has more bits, can be posed/easily kitbashed and I might find a decent price off a friend. (maybe £30 for 3 squads plus command squad)
the three cyclops count as seperate squads (consisting each of one operator and one demo vehicle). if the operator is killed, the cyclops can't do anything. if the cyclops is killed, the operator is at least one more set of hands holding a lasgun.

well I have the money to get the normal game, but I want to get the collector's edition. only £20 more with a soundtrack, life size purity seal, bonus stuff in-game, a load of cards giving you tips and tricks for the characters and weapons in-game, and a graphic artbook.
Plus I feel for only £20 more, getting the game I've always wanted as my first collector's ed. game would be good ^^

it has two signleplayer campaigns and multiplayer with various mission types. The things I don't know whether you later get them anyway, but normally they have an exclusive something.

To illustrate how much blood and gore there is, if you do an "execution" move on an ork nob with a power axe, you nail it to the wall by the knee, disarm it, thrust our fingers into it's mouth and rip it's skull in two ^^
very suiting to a space marine and the grimdarkness of warhammer 40k in general ^^

here's a few:

yeah, this game's awesome. It's good that games workshop finally went "feth 12+, we'll make an M-rated game." They must have decided that if they were gonna make it M-rated, they might as well go to town on the gore ^^

the darkness is as best as I could do (I couldn't get the flash on the camera to work.) Maybe 50+ pictures I took of him, and that was the lightest, with mutliple settings changed, sunlight streaming in, 2 lamps on and everything, still that.
It's a conversion from this fella:

the guns are from AOBR nobs, the right elbow and most of the right thigh is made from blue tack ^^
