Still here, Finally got some painting done as well One day Ill get some piccys as well
Loving what the rest of you are coming up with Ive already settled my sights on second to last place as theres no way im going to match some of the stuff thats being thought up here
Yeah, I don't file/knife/clean up until I'm absolutely sure its done, so then I save myself work.
ah, ok... not my modus operandi but i see your point... me i have to clean up over and over again, because i am not really planning ahead but more of let the work flow... so i might later be not able to get at these parts again...
Loving the guardsmen!
So in between work and typing up a DW/INQ adventure I made some more progress on the bio suit guardsman.
(Ignore the plasticard strip sticking out from the side, that has since been secured.) I took off the excess gap filler, and cut down the grip. The grip now has a nice 'rivet' on the end, just to give it some more texture. Today I hope to take some fine sandpaper and soften out the plastic as the gun nears completion. Really, all that is left to do is find a suitable left arm and then do final cleanup (and basing!).
So on a slightly related note, I dug out an old half-finished conversion last night and gave him some love.
I dug back through the gallery and found my original WIP picture, all the way back from July!
Hopefully, if I get my first model done, he will form the basis for my next entry. Captain Imperium!
UG tell you what... use that padded helmet of the sentinels for the head of cap Imp...that would make him look like CAP America...from the recent movie...
Little bit more progress, but more importantly, I got myself a tripod! Woohoo. I'll let the pics do the talking.
Next is to get into some real putty work. Adding some more cloth, ribbons, etc, a kneepad, flames to the torch, and possibly the neck and hair. I'm not sure about those last ones there as I'm also considering leaving the head off to paint separately.
I've also got chains to add liberally. And I'll at least try mocking up some a few repentia as tenders. That might end up looking a bit too busy though.
As promised, WIP shots of my scorpion exarch, Still laying base coat when I have time. Hoping to start shading process this weekend. More detail visible in Gallery View.
Unluckyguardsman wrote:The modelling thread will contain only WIP pictures, and voters will be asked not to take into account any knowledge of the paint job.
Oh, snap! And I've started to paint the body of my Gunny already... Well, now I will have to wait untill finishing the entire conversion, it seems.

Indeed. Juzz is just an incredible music!
By the way, awesome job on painting this guardsman.
And everyone doing great
Yet, no updates on my entry. I'm a terribly bad procrastinator!
is that GW fine detailbrush any good? i recently bought me a !20/0 brush in an artshop and when i am done sculpting and i have primed my stuff i will most delicatly try that one out^^

The brush is sensational! It holds a point really well, and the paint comes off of the brush just as well! I definetly recemend the brush. (Buy from Miniature Market!)
I think i am a day or two late on my update, and my update is to say I have done NUSSINK! I have not been near my painting station in a week so I'm a bit behind...
Glad to see this blog is becoming delightfully chatty! I have no further progress yet, as I have been busy getting stuff ready for eBay selling. I'm also looking at getting an Inquisitor rulebook before the week is out, so hopefully that will provide some good inspiration.

Well, not exactly. poor word choice on my part.
Over the past few months, I've become more and more fed up with Games Workshop, Warhammer 40k, and certain parts of the 40k community. I want to play 40k, but the money investment is just too much for me. Games Workshop certainly isn't helping this, though I do dearly love their models and their foundation paints and their washes are a permanent part of my paint set. The 40k community is drifting so far into the "competitiveness" of the game that it makes the game less fun to play. There is so much GW hate that I really don't like even going close to certain threads. And I've also found Deathwatch and Inquisitor, both of which I have fallen in love with. Freedom in modelling and painting without worrying about lists is the greatest thing for me as a painter and modeller.
So, in summary, I'm selling off much of my excess collection to make room for 1 small 40k army (Imperial Guard) and a host of INQ/DW models. All the money from the sales is what I'm going to use as my hobby budget for the time being, and rest assured, it is all going to bits!
I experemented with a jump segway by strapping a SM jump pack on the Segway. It didn't work for me so I decided to make the Segway more simplistic. Iv'e finished Segway Rough Rider's base. I'm aiming for a melting/late season snow look. I've made segway tracks so you can see where the segway is going to be placed.
I haven't forgot about my other submission, I'm still working on that!
Flying Pooo wrote:^I'll give it a wash of Devlan mud and see how it looks.
Isn't that the general solution for any painting or modelling conundrums?
You read my mind.
By the way, awesome bio-suit UG. I've been a bit lazy modelling-wise recently, but remembered I'm taking part in a competition . Anyway, I'll have pics soon. I'm hoping that I can still participate with this update more than a week from my last?
Hi guys, a late update but:
- I've undercoated my model
- Finished his base
- I've base coated his skin (a tasteful bright orange )
Any way should have some proper updates with pics later this week.

I see, and may take part in your auctions!
If you see anything you like, by all means bid! And if you win, send me a message so I can give a fellow Dakka member a little something extra in the package!

oh that is much... well i guess i can skipp all those suggestons for battling cold...i guess you know them already... or have you heard about sweetened onions yet? well anyway... whatever makes you paint more is not such a bad thing indeed
Sorry I havent Updated lately. I havent got my maodel or bits in mail yet, and i daresay it wont be finished by the time the deadline hits. I am terribly sorry, but i do hope to submit a final photo beforehand. If i cant, I will at least try to be everyones cheerleader! Just looked through everything from the past week and I have to say great job everybody!
story of ym hobby life... creativity is a curse and a blessing packed together... too much creativity makes your mind bubbling with constantly emerging new ideas... the amount of unfinished projects greatly exeeds any finished one...

Ok quick update so UnluckGuardsman doesn't disqualify me!
Have managed to do some painting today and the wife is out tomorrow night so I can get some more in.
Am just doing Aquilas on these guys (urgh - sooooo intensive!) then next up will be the armour/guns. Then they're actually nearly finished. I've also undercoated and basecoated the other half of the squad.

Hey man, it wasn't a waste of time, hope you can finish your project at some point!
Oh man, sorry for not posting in here often enough! It's tough to remember to get pics up during the process... Anyway I've got 2 out of three completely done, and the big shoota kommando is undercoated. Great work so far everybody!
The first head is from the Chimera, second is a standard Cadian, third is a Flagellant (with green stuffed shades!), 4th is a Catachan, 5th is from the Cadian Command Sprue.
UPDATE TIME!!!!
1. are we allowed to put 2 entries in?
2. if so here is #1
3. Made my base for my capitan
4. I have painted his whole body, servo skull, base and stand
5. Is the stand ok?
6. Comments Questions/concerns welcome and CC!!!!!
No progress on my Heavy gunner yet :(
And for some reason I think there's a fat chance I wont be able to complete him before the deadline, so I want to add a second mini just in case...
Meet the Plasma gunner:
He's almost finished, so I hope to start paint him this week.
Earlier WIP pics and a clarifications on his weapons are in my thread.
Quick update, taken with camera, so picture even worse than normal...!
Not sure if you can see the squad markings or not. The plan for the army, which will have darkish brown armour, is to have a black "gate of cadia" with the circle in between the posts coloured as per the platoon, with a squad number. These guys, being veterans, have a black and yellow circle, with white posts (cause they got the black armour). But thoughts welcome.
The highlights on the armour don't look quite that sharp in real life. And once I put some more colour and brown bits on it should tone down the sharpness as well.
Man Everybody makes my work look like crap! I unfortunetly was hit with a football in the eye.... And I have a, a, ah..... eyeball concusion or somthing like that. (dont know the medical term ) Bluryness and trouble focesing. Sorry for any mis spells, Hard to see the keyboard.
at IR
first the cold and now the smashed eye... man you have to get out of the heat.... sounds like you stick your neck to every forefront that shows itself.... good healing...again...
I've managed to knife two of my fingers now. I think...I think I'll survive.
Worked on Celestine a bit last night. I think I've decided on the smaller wings. I really like the big ones better, but they get in the way of a lot of other details and I think they'd be too much of a hassle to attach. The small ones have a peg the same size as Celestine's original drapery, which makes things really easy. And this way I'll be able to paint everything separately.
Considering I do plan on painting things separately, I'll make sure to get an assembled shot in while I'm test fitting everything, for the modelling side of the competition.
well i got disatracted due to a project for my kids... building a pirate ship atm and knifed my thumb and forefinger on the left hand... imagine now to trying to hold something with that hand^^ only minior scratches but well... so i feel your pain literally^^
Man, This should be called the 40k Injurys while modeling competition! Yeah it is not so bad now, the pain is slowly going away. Somehow or another, I Cut my thumb with my hobby knife... Never stops huh?
nahhhh good medling comes with a price tag that all... and you have to pay in blood...nothing special... so aviod epic conversions...because...well you know...^^
Somewhat on this subject of blood and pain and such, I once again have no update but here is a photo from last week that should give you an idea of what has been taking up my free time. FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!!
probably not... as blood quickly tends to get rather brownish... also i bet if you would be to paint tanks and such things you would soon go quite pale... remeber safty first... making savings and bargains in hobby comes only second^^
Glad to see more progress, guys! I'm kinda in a rut, I'm working extra late hours on a project at work, and I had an expensive calculator stolen (I believe) and that is where my hobby money is going right now. So hopefully I'll get some time to slap some paint on my little project, but maybe not.
Agreed that is an ork-some (terrible pun, I know) tone, it actually looks skin like whilst most ork's skin don't. I should have updates soon, but real life has got in the way of things (as well as beginning Inq28!).
Thanks farty!
Any of you who are Gears of War fans might recognize his gorgon pistol, smoke grenade, and (not very visible in this picture) the crimson omen on his do-rag.

Overly muscled morons with a violent and limited vocabulary. Am I talking about orks or the GoW characters? Tough to tell. Awesome looking ork and a brilliant combination!

I agree with everyone else, the skin tone you have achieved is great! Care to share the recipie?

The pistol looks strange (especially the extra mag) but it sounds like you have a reason for having it that way.
I hate giving modeling CC after there is paint, but I'm not getting the do-rag feel from the do-rag (when I saw the pictures I was trying to figure out if it was a helmet or a beret). I think yours is bulkier than a do-rag (which is basically skin tight) and needs some folds of cloth.
Gears of War is just an inexhaustible source of inspiration due to the awesome design of its weapons, buildings, armours... well, pretty much everything
And i agree with everyone else, the do-rag looks like commando beret from my poin of view, but overall the model looks nice anyway.
ishkatar wrote:

I'm pretty much inspired by the Locust when working on my orcs. Keep it up susejo!
The model looks quite fine for a first try, but, if I may advise, take your time looking at an object you are copying to study it.
For example, lets look at this picture
You can see that there are several distinctive traits that define the shape of Marcus's do-rag
- It's slick and covers the head tightly as a second skim so a thinner layer of GS will suffice
- The horizontal folds on the forehead are easy to sculpt but they are what gives life to it, and the grim determinated expression
No one here mentioned it, but kudos for his styled armor! You've done a good job with it! Hope my blabber be of any use
On one hand I think it could look good if you go glossy and try to add some purple or dark blue OSL around it. On the other hand, osl off of a black weapon could end up being incomprehensible.
@Everyone I did do the black sword, with some light turquoise accents, and super high gloss finish. I tried to use some black osl, but it just looked bad. Pics later
Bah, I need to get me arse in gear if Im ever gonna get my entry in on time, its only half way there :( and looking nowhere near as good as some of the other models you guys are producing!!!!! Keep it up guys!!!!
Looking great ishkatar, can't wait to see him finished.
I sadly have lost my model . So until I find it I will no longer be using him . Luckily I have a back up model that I'll be posting pictures of tomorrow.
@Farty:
Thank you!
And it's realy sad to hear about your model. I usually lose a lot of small bits, but ocasionally I find them on the soles of my slippers
@susejo239:
Thanks!
@Sentinel:
Why? I prime... There are four parts of the model - head, body with the base, backpack and hands with the gun and ammo belt - all to be primed and painted separately. On the photo the model is just pre-assembled on blue-tack, and the body with the base and head are primed.
Ahh, gotcha. So that's just a mockup. Looks like you do this in a much more professional way than I do
My update: unfortunately during my lack of updates I have already finished two so I can't give you much in the way of wip photos. On the third, hopefully I'll get myself to update more often so you can track his progress.
Here's a sneak peak of the finished ones: (notice in the background Susejo239's Gears of Waaaagh!-ork)
I think I've finished Petr Ychenko (baring any last minute CC from all of you ). There were a few little details to finish and I've been putting it off for so long... But not tonight! Unfortunately, it's pitch black out now and the pictures look like garbage. So you shall have pictures tomorrow!
I present to you the final (I hope) version of Sergeant Petr Ychenko!
Front
Good shot of the OSL
Rear
I washed the hilt of the combat knife, tidied up some of the highlights on his boots and pouch, and added a bit of weathering on his armor.
As much as I feel that I am finished with the model, the whole reason I keep joining these painting compititions is to push myself, so: Any last bits of CC?
So the Chaplain is 98% complete, just a final coat of varnish and I will get some pics up, probably Saturday night.
The Librarian...slooow going haha there`s so much to paint on him!! It`s a lot of fun though and I will get at least one more section of him done Saturday.
Here's my new entry: The eye is halfway through having OSL done to it so it does look pretty awful at the moment! Comments and critisicm is always welcome!

I have a secret crush on DE. The models are so dynamic; I love it!
The blending on your helm is looking pretty good, imho. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in store for the rest of the model!
As for the OSL, it looks like you'd like to have both the eye and the slit be glowing, but I think I'd stay away from OSL from the oddly shaped slit and just do the eye. Trying to get the lighting right from such a weird source would be really tough. I think you have a good start on it!
neil101 wrote:@Rawson , good job on finishing him up , i love the osl and matching green purity seal.
Thanks, Neil! I'm glad people are liking how the OSL turned out. That was a bit ambitious but I'm happy with it!
@Sentinel:
Well, it's just an easier way to paint, especially such complicated models, where some visible details will be unreachable if the mini is fully glued together.
Good skin tone on that Ork, by the way.
@Rawson:
Nice one
@Farty:
Good luck with this OSL. For some reason I'm thinking about a harlequin pattern, when I look at his plain red suit.
@neil101:
Thanks, man!
Whoo! I'm painting, slowly, but purposefully:
I'm a really crappy photographer, so the pic doesn't show a zenithal highlighting properly, however the main purpose of posting this is to show my first attempt on rusty elements. Any C&C?
Well, almost four hours of painting a small piece of plastic - it is a talant indeed
Oh, and that's a good question... I don't know The name supposed to be on that label and I have a large list of names for my characters, yet none of those are suitable for this guy, in my opinion. Still searching... Any suggestions?
Weee, got pretty much everything pinned at this point, and everything holds together on its own so far. Still need to add more detail with GS, a few more bitz, and liberal use of chains. I think I'm going to try mocking up the mini with some Repentia accompanying her on the base too.
hw could one not like these... how did you get that thin line of bright white of the lightning so thin and so bright? that gladius is looking a wicked backstabber!!
Sorry I haven't updated Here in a while. Since my birthday I haven't had much time for painting. I spend most of driving now . I have my L's (I got 100% on the test)! That's right everyone I'm on the roads now, watch out .
... Anyway here is my almost finished mini.
The pics are quite bad, (looks nothing like IRL), but they will give you all a rough idea of what he looks like. A few touch ups here and there and It's finished. I'll update with better pics then.
C & C would be great!
And I haven't forgot about the Segway Rough Rider! I have done some work on him but not enough for it to be worth showing you all!
@El Vic:
Thanks for the tips.
I like the "half deaf" idea very much - a great irony! But the word is too long for this lable, so it should be Surdo (deaf), i guess.
Anyway, I had a lot of spare time at work today, so I've done a little research on that matter and came up with several ideas... In many movies and games the stereotypical Heavy gunner or similar character is a Black guy, Russian or Latinos. Some kind of an African name won't be suitable, since my guys just isn't black, and any Russian name sounds way too common for my ear for obvious reason. So I'm thinking about Latinos style name or, well, a classic SM Latin name.
Here's some variants:
- Surdo
- Manus (Power, Vigor... in Latin)
- Mons (Mountain or Rock in Latin)
- Blain (A guy with Minigun from the oldie-goldie Predator movie)
- Kamov
- Fuego (Fire in Español)
Personally I like the last one - Fuego. Sounds exotic (well, for me) and... hot
in the army we always had this joke about our maingun the (back then) G3... it had a setting for sigle fire and one for rapid fire (uncontrolled) and of course secure... the letter showing the burst setting was "F" as in "Feuerstoß...wich means burst... well what i am tlaking about, we used to call the F stands for Frieden...which is peace... what about some irony here? bttle Brother Piece... whereever he shoots there is only piece...or pieces^^
Mons is a nice thing... but it lacks a certain roll of the tongue... if you get my meaning... and i think manus is too overused...at least i think so^^ and surdo i have to say sounds to hiphop for me
well fuego sure works...see above... on the same line of thought i guess...
Yep, I agree with every statement.
Mons is short and doesn't give that feeling... Well... You know, what I mean. And Manus is simply boring.
Frieden sounds nice, but it will be hard to write on the small lable. It can be shorten to Fred (Peace in Germanic languages). Fred, Fred... Fred. No, Fuego still sounds better to me.
Well, I took Fred from Danish language and then google told me it's a regular name for all the Germanic, anyway, I'm sure there're a lot of variants for different counties and languages. And Friede somehow reminds me of Freud... Oh, my SM can be a great psychoanalyst with such a tool as his weaponry! Imagine that: *pointing his gun at patient's direction* "Do you want to talk about it, weakling!?"
one could also think he is desperatly trying to compensate something....maybe the loss of an even former bigger gun...just a thought that had crossed my mind...
I thought SM's... Um... gun... is atrophied due to misuse of steroids and augmentation. Or do they *augment* their... Gun as well? Oh, I think I don't want to know!
@El Vic:
Almost true - in St. Petersburg there's only season in the year - the windy and rainy one... We live in a god damn swamp
@Capitansolstice:
So, how's the weather in Illinois?
But yeah, we should get back on topic:
OMG LOOK!!! A HEAD ON A STICK!!!
Unfortunatly, another crappy picture and too much light hitting on his calvity - it suppose to be gray, as shaved. Anyway, that was a brave attempt to paint an unshaved chin. Also, I should repain this green lens.
well he looks suitably gruffy in my opinion^^ and yeah i suppose you should add a bit of spark to the lense...otherwise i think he looks very good to me...despite the "bad" pics^^
lets see, after changing my idea many times, i think im going to post up my first fantasy models, or my mordheim captian, depending on what gets finished first
Unfortunatly, another crappy picture and too much light hitting on his calvity - it suppose to be gray, as shaved. Anyway, that was a brave attempt to paint an unshaved chin. Also, I should repain this green lens.
Great start! I think you've acheived the stubble look quite well and the level of detail is great! My only bit of CC is for the bionic eye (which you already referenced as needing work). Are you shooting for OSL or standard lens technique? (My vote is for lens, if that matters at all )
@Capitansolstice:
I'm sure you can! Just need a right amount of dedication, stubborness and practice.
I'm jealous - that's a damn good weather for that time of a year... It's about 13 Celsius!
@El Vic:
Indeed. I'm not good at lenses, since never painted one yet but seems like I've got a precedent now
@Rogue Wolves:
Stop talking and go paint! j/k
@Rawson:
Thank you.
Yes, the damn lens needs more love... I agree, that OSL isn't an option for that case (may be just a slight highlight on the outer rim), so I'll try to do it classical way.

I agree with your call on the OSL. There are some great tutorials on painting lenses, btw. If you've never done one, you could always check them out...
Yep, there are... This one seems to be a nice guide. It looks like painting lens is quite similar to painting drops of blood, like I did on this model.
somehow i would be far more frightened to do OSL then a lense effect... but then i haven´t painted a mini for a while...all that scratchbuilding keeps me from it...darn...talk about beeing between a rock and a hard place
Hey guys, sorry to be so long between replies here as life has been extremely time consuming recently. Congrats to all who are done their entries! If you could all PM the dakka gallery links to WIPs and finished pictures, that would be great, as I am attempting to get ahead on the voting threads. My entry has barely progressed, with merely the addition of another arm. Hopefully I will get some time next weekend to finish it off!
UG
Ok I have one done. But I have barely started painting my other submission. I hope I will finish in time.
Thanks to Rawson, posted a great comment in my P&M Blog. Most of the changes I made on this guy where things that Rawson suggested I should do. I didn't do one of those things 'cause I'm lazy but I did everything else and now he looks much better.
Thank you very much Rawson!
Close up on the face. His eyes are meant to look unpainted, gives him a mysterious look. (their not unpainted just a really dark red).
close up on the shield.
Back
Close up on the cloak.
Not a very good pic of the spear tip,
Weathering on his back pack mount thing that I'm quite proud of.

hey Vik the upside down V looking /\ doesnt have anything to do with Ultramarines, it was the symbol the spartans put on their sheild, i think its an S but i am only guessing on that
Wutup guys! I finished! Marneus Calgar and Honour Guard reporting for duty! Enjoy.
LDP
*FLUFF* Marneus and his honour guard stepped off the thunderhawk and onto a charred, desolate battlefield. The honourable 2nd company had just demolished a horde of orks, yet there were still millions more en route to the Ultramarines position. With just a whiff, Marneus' nostrils were filled with the scent of blood, freshly spilled.
"Lord Marneus, the first wave of orks have been defeated." - Caro Sicarius intruded.
"Very good, captain. Check the auspexes, how near is the next wave?"
"Semmingly closer than we expected, we have little time to prepare."
A shrill, distant "WaAaaAaGgH!" sounded from a distance. The orks were on their way.
^Just made that up. Should add to it oneday
Mankind boasts many heroes, men of purpose and dedication without whom the Imperium would crumble. Yet, even amongst their ranks there is a man whose nobility overshadows all others. His triumphs are without number and his deeds the stuff of legend. His name is Marneus Calgar, Master of the Ultramarines and Lord of Macragge.
Thanks Rawson. It was somewhat intentional to have some mud get on the lower parts of his gear but I guess it didn't work. Ah well!
thanks again! Good luck with your entry!

I think you would need to add a lot more dirt and weathering (since there isn't really any ) to make it look intentional. But I like the brand-spanking-new look of these guys, so I wouldn't go that way...
@theQuanz:
I've used black, gray (Vallejo Heavy Bluegray, but I think it's the same, as Codex Gray), white and Badab Black wash. I've started with a mix of black and gray (about 30% black) as a base colour, then some gray blending over the higher areas for a highlight, a bit of Badab Black wash to smooth the transitioning colours and finished up with a really carefull white drybrash over the top. Basically, it's just a blending the dark gray into the light gray. I hope, my vague explanation will be helpful for you
@lipsdapips:
As for my entry, I'm on my way to the finish line! The head is attached to the body and hands with the minigun are almost fully painted, so it's left only the backpack fixing/painting and glueing the bits together.
I have returned home and made some progress. Need to pause now for a spot o' sleep, and then basing, a little more detailing, then off to priming and possibly a start on painting tomorrow.
Good point.... Unfortunetly, and im just saying this because, My mom, being the wonderful person that she is, decided to clean my room (Not an insult) .... she acccidenty snagged a tisue on the talon of my Trygon...... It fell of the dresser and onto the floor......... it fell into 4 pieces and chipped the paint in several places. It will not be finished by the end of the date. It will take a while to fix. But thank you for the idea, I will definetly post work in progress pictures.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Only one problem, there already primed..... Dang
Well here is the WIP on my entry, my Mordheim Gang!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Close ups are on my dakka blog, and when i get to final photos, i will post one 2 of each ( front and back )
Automatically Appended Next Post: Should be done in a few days, Unless i cannot get the proper arm and head for the 2 grey boys in the back, and if thats the case i will just take them out
well...i am stuck atm with my steamknights... a case of burnout... the needed GS work i have to do to get the primer out to start painting them...it is not going to happen soonish... GS is atm a bit too much for me...
that´s why i am asking to change my entry... i have here the WIP pics of my gang of riveteers... the leaque of extraordinary riveters in person so to speak...
i have primed them just yesterday and toady i have begun to work some paint on them... will show progress pics tomorrow with some daytime pics as well...
here would be the conversion pics, if you would be able to accept them as substitutes for my former entries...
note: some parts /bitz are already painted in this pic...but they got recycled and thus get a serious repainting!
I have finished the modelling phase of Saint Bellanya, my Celestine conversion.
And all the different angles. Zoom in on the pics! They're pretty high quality.
Aaaaaaaand I just realized that the cloth coming off her left hip came unattached during photography. Crap. That'll be glued down after painting, anyway. And on that note, painting and fluff dump to come! Still debating the paint scheme a bit too. The rest of my army is black armor with some bone pieces, with gold detailing. I'm thinking on this I might go with mostly bone armor and black cloth. That still leaves the wings and hair that I'm not totally sure of.
You can click the pic for a zoomable image in Dakka galerry.
A short fluff entry:
Spoiler:
So here he stands tall, "Loud" Gunter, veteran and master of battlefront, famouse not only for his incredible strength, courage and booming voice, but for his weapon of type, rarely seen in the arms of Space Marines - his assault cannon "The Emperor's Roar". This artifact was a gift from Magos Explorator, whos excavation mission was overwhelmed by the horde of rampaging Orc looters and nearly wiped out, when the rescue team, lead by Sergeant Gunter, descended from the orbit right in between, protecting the remaining Techpriests like a living but impenetrable shield. With cold blood and Bolter fire they held the line, yet the numbers of xenos seemed endless... So not to say about the defenders. And it was then he saw an assault cannon amongst other artifacts, recovered by the Techpriests, locked and loaded, ready to spill the blood of unclean, and in a moment later the six-barreled vengeance was risen and the mighty roar flew over the battlefield as the veteran shredded through the greenskin ranks with unbridled wrath and thousands shells. The battle was over in no time as the hundreds Orcs were ripped apart in a blink of an eye. "Now it is yours" - the Magus said as the echoes of cannon fire died away "The spirit of the weapon has chosen you. THE Emperor himself has chosen you". So the artifact got it's name. And it is interesting to note, that no one of the Expedition can recall the cannon being loaded as it was recovered in unusable condition.
somehow i ran out of fingers able to be crossed^^ ...
worked on some more painting to the minis... but i hav a possible jobaplication tomorrow so maybe only some tenty minutes to waste on my minis...oh i do hate deadlines... they are so deadly...
Hey Guys!
As we near the end of the competition, I just wanted to remind you all of the final entry guidelines, also located in this thread's OP:
FINAL ENTRY consists of 1 or more WIP pictures and 2 or more finished pictures (preferably against a white or semi-white background)
Pictures should be posted to the DAKKA GALLERY and PMed to me by the deadline. I really would like to stress this point as it speeds my making of the voting thread.
Included must be a FEW sentences of fluff. Not asking for a whole lot, just some background.
DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 31st, MIDNIGHT EST (GMT -5:00)
As a side note, I have only received pictures from 1 person, and those were WIPs. If you have not PMed them already please do so, it really helps out. this is not a matter of disqualification, just my time.
EDIT: skimming through I see only one person fully fulfilling the requirements, please check to make sure everything is done. I have yet to decide what to do with unfinished entries, at this point I'm thinking that for those of us like myself I will create a thread where we can show how far we got, but are not eligible for voting/prizes.
As an update on my entry, it might not get finished. Sad but true. Hobby motivation (and the hobby in general) has been lacking in the past few weeks as my time is consumed. However, only time will tell!
ohoh.... well i had that too...that nasty bug called time diversion...hmmm...
for now i am only able to provide a WIP pic...and a halfpainted one ....... will PM both... dunno if i am able to make up a fluffy bit tho...will have a bit of a thinking about that in the night^^
Unluckyguardsman wrote:DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 31st, MIDNIGHT EST (GMT -5:00)
Wait November doesn't have 31 days. Is the deadline December 1st 00:00/12:00 am then EST (GMT -5:00) then?
I still have some way to go on the segway, but I have a day off school today so I might be able to finish in time. I have my other entry done, I just need to write some fluff.
Good luck to everyone else in finnishing your entries on time! Everyone has done really well.
Ok, I've finally finished my Segway Rough Rider. Is it still in time?
It's a miracle that I finished him today as this morning I had only just done the blue and boltgun metal basecoats. I only painted him in two hours (the base took longer than the mini). He is not painted to my best standard but I think he will do. I had to forgo some highlighting. About a quarter of that time was spent painting my first NMM. I decided I would try it out. The Imperial Eagle is NMM, and I'm quite happy with my first shot. Now I just have to write Up some Fluff, for both my entries.
Danke sehr, Viktor von Domm! Deine kommentare sind immer geschätzt. I have to practice my German, I might be going there next year on student exchange.
i am official confused now... do we make a poll...if there is an actual 31st of november...or if the deadline is till the 1st of december or maybe a further delay...^^ i actually had to redo my skintones as i was not sufficently satisfied with them as was... so i am next to unfinished all the same again^^
so i highly doubt if i can take place in the painting thread...:(
but let it all be known... that competition was a really cool expeierience and i met here manny new frieds... thanks unlucky for that oportunity!
and flying poo... if you want a smallish chat in plain german... "du bist immer in meinem thread willkommen...^^
Spoiler:
translation: you are always welcome in mmy thread...^^ i think a translation is fair...for all that habve no clue in german^^

Zefig wrote:Would those of us that have finished modelling but may not finish painting still be eligible for the modelling category?
I am leaning this way, but I would love a consensus on that.
Rogue Wolves wrote:Well, i might not be able to finish em all but i will pm you what ive got
That's great!
lipsdapips wrote:Balls...my WIPs are scattered throughout the thread...and I deleted all the pics off my camera...does this still count as legal? D:
Can you compile the links at least? So then i know which WIPs you want.
Thanks for responding, UG. As far as modelled but unpainted entries go, I'm all for including them in the modelling category. I know everyone's been working really hard but it's a busy time of year.
I think I'll be able to get my painting done too, although it could get tight.
My last post has since been updated with better pics. I have fixed up a few things. I still need to write up some fluff. And it's good to know I still have another day! I might get better pics of my other entry.
@Viktor von Domm
Spoiler:
Danke. Was ist dieser Thread du von sprecht? Ist es dass Imperial Steampunk thread? Dass thread ist zu lange, es hat über ein hundert seiten. Obwohl, Ich werde schnelle lese es mit das neuer Thread filternen Werkzeug.
Translation:
Thank you, What is this thread you speak of? Is it that Imperial Steampunk thread? That thread is too long, it has over 100 pages. Although, I will read it fast with the new thread filtering tool.
and yep that thread exactly^^ but one can join in the fun anytime he wants to...if needed i can recap certain things... i am no teacher that orders someone to read the backlog before he can join...lol but it might help...
und das war schon sehr gut mein herr...! (by the way...respect for your use of capital letters...something i even am not doing anymore in german... and there it is seen as a capital offence by most^^)
Captian Varius Galtius (Ultramarine Captain)
Captian Varius Galtius has served within the sixth company for many centuries and he is one of the most oldest and experienced warriors within the chapter. He has fought in countless successful campaigns against a variety of foes. He is most accustomed to fighting the Dark Eldar who are his most hated foes. His master crafted power spear dubbed ‘incendiis interitum’ was given to him by a deceased company champion just before his death and has been in use before the Horus Hersey.
Xanthe Tirus (Segway Rough Rider)
Xanthe Tirus is the oldest and most experienced sergeant within the Macragge PDF. He trains all the new recruits. With his age he has lost most of the mobility in his legs so he gets around on his custom made segway. Anyone that laughs at him about his feeble transport is quickly silenced with one shot of his lasgun.” Segways are cool. OK!” his deafening voice proclaims. He LOVES his segway and has never left it for over a decade. He sleeps, showers, goes disco dancing, does the laundry, makes sandwiches and does basically everything with it.
Viktor von Domm wrote: it is seen as a capital offence by most^^)
was that pun intended? LOL I read your thread, very nice stuff there.
Also I just realised I missed a capital in my response in German.
Edited.
so update time already!!! the painting competition is at it´s finishing line now and this is my as good as they get entry...: the riveters...
i am aware that the skin is not what i had originally intended it to look like... but skin is a real toughy for me...much will have to be learned here... tho one thing that competition has teached me is to dilute the paints much more and to aply very thin coats....and many of that...
as for fluff...
Spoiler:
the air was sooty and thick with steam and heat...a loud and almost deafening noiselevel produced by the working men made the effort to listen to your own workrythem quite impossible...yet the men never flinched or stayed idle for more than a few moments to take in ther most recent work. because the men knew that the imperium did not take lightly with the riveting of their builts... a construction was always secured by an odplex of rivets all neatly arranged in just the right amount of distance to provide the maximum of durability for vehicles or buildings. for the Queen thy built and ruined theor mortal shells to sever and uphold the empire in Her name... Sweat running into their eyes, hunger or tiredness couldn´t stop these riveters for completing their duties...they were dedicated men of the craft and new their place and held pride to their work...the empire needed them as the foundation of it´s prowess...unneamed they stayed for millions of servants of the mighty empire but not without worth... because each soldier fully well knew that the riveters all around in Her Majesties lands did their duty and made strong and dependable products...
mates, it was fun to work side by side with you all!
It wouldnt be like this if he remembered to NOT forget my camera at work the other day!!!!! But thank you vik, Im more worried about keeping my blog interesting though as there isnt any recent photos!!!
Yeah, even though i did not finish my entry, I met a hole buch of guys here, and my models are that much closer to being done! Except for the Trygon, which is still in pieces
Living Saint Bellanya began her service as a Sister Hospitaler and was renowned for her kind treatment of patients, known as Gentle Annie. She became a living saint during her defense of patients during a chaos uprising, and went on to fight with the newly-created Order of the Sable Heart.
Here is my entry (almost finished, but it'll do)
Fluff:
During the crase of Mordheim, there was a wealthy Lord, who demanded to expand his wealth, Lord Penn was from Reikland and he had served in the local military on past occasions. Before he went on his quest for wealth, he recruited a band of the most obscure people he could find.... BRICK Former high military commander in the Reikland Army, he was doomed when he took a trip to the once great city of Mordheim, he became addicted to Crimson Shade and it is said he lost all parts of himslelf because of what happened in the city. He is now the bohemoth that follows Penn blindly into battle, charging an army of Skaven and the drop of a finger.... SLY Not much is known about Sly, besides the fact that he was once working for a long forgoten crime ring. And on a job he was struck in the throut never to be heard speak again, not to say he is a mute now as the story was speculated from a gash on near his throat. It could be he came across something he shouldnt have and now is mentaly scared..... BOEMAN One of the few proud men left in Penns command, Boeman was an average Hunter in Reikland when pillaging brought the end of his small village, It is known that he follows Penn in search of the funds to enact his revenge.... CROWE Him and his twin brother work as hired swords, him with his custom made hunting rifle he had named Longstride. And his brother with a pair of elven swords he called the Robins, Crowe is said to follow Penn into Mordheim more willingly then most as his brother was hired into the city many a time ago, and Crowe is in search of him.... STAN Not nearly as well off as the rest of the group, Stan was a slave turned crewman on a pirating ship, it was after a fight with one of the crewmen that he wildly swang at him and struck the captian. Long story short he got away, but lost his eye, lets not say that the capitan has anything to say on the matter... THE RUNNER One of the few who attempted to steal from Lord Penn and survived, no one knows why but we know that he is used in times when even Penn dosent know if he can make it out with the loot.
Here's my entry! Hopefully it'll still count even though it's a day late... If you need proof that I finished these yesterday, I have pics of them in my blog from yesterday. I'm just late on the official pics.
Anyway, here's the fluff:
Spoiler:
Da Red Buhrayz
“Quiet down you lot,” rasped Gursnik. “We’z been sneakin’ real good so far; doze humies won’t know what hit ‘em. Stick wiv da plan: I shoot first cuz I’z got da big gun. Dat’ll scare ‘em good, and you run in ‘fore dey tell da uvvers! Dakka dakka dakka!” His shoota rattles with excitement as he fells the first guardsmen from behind the bush. The other kommandos quickly dispatch the rest of the guards around the facility, plant the explosives, and they return to the boss from yet another “suksessful mishun”.
Da Red Buhrays are a small group within Snikrot's Red Skull Kommandos. Rather than painting their heads red, they adopted the imperial practice of wearing a colored beret to indicate their status. This particular team is lead by Gursnik, a brutal weapon specialist. He prefers to use his personal favorite big shoota, "Da Mulcha". It is fully kitted out with all the latest Ork gubbinz, as Gursnik is a firm believer that more attachments open up more tactical options.
Great work everyone! The voting thread will be a bit delayed as I have to scour the area for pictures and links and such (after many requests for PMs!). So bear with me!

UG
All the pics relating to my entry are in this gallery, hope that helps some.
Didn't UG Want everyone to send him a PM. With WIP and finished pics.
Being the nice guy he is he probably said it was not necessary, but how long do you think it will take him to find all of your pics and then format them into a voting thread?
THE ANSWER IS FETHING AGES
I think UG was too polite to say this, so I will say it for him! Please send him a PM as it will make it easier for the voting thread to be created!
Here is an example My PM to Him. Make sure you title it correctly.
