Yes DKoK towed guns from Forgeworld.
Beautiful models some of my favorite, these things are sharp.
I am saving all the shells I have along with the crates and try to make some sort of a ammo cart, maybe an excuse for a Trojan

Awesome Blog! The tanks look great, but the Valks truly blew me away. Ace work on the camo and weathering (I'll definitely be looking to steal some ideas from here!).. The whole story playing out with the Valk disgorging it's passengers is beautifully set out.

Here is how I look at it,alot of the money I used for this army, came from a whole lot of models I sold over the years.
So I paid for a good deal of this stuff a long time ago,I just recycle armies.
If GW ever makes decent Zombies that look like corpse cart offal, just wait til you see what I can do with Father Nurgle.
But look with barrel inserts I now have an Earthshaker battery too.
I weathered up quite a bit tonight, would like to do some chipping and rusting tomarrow, dust up the wheels.

Nothing crazy for this weekend.
Bought a Deathstrike kit and I am very, very disapointed in the Big Bertha Missile.
A 1:48 V2 is too big and the kit does not leave me much to work with, might be able to extend it an inch or so,but big whoop.
Does anyone know of a good after market missile?
Anyhow I finished another squad to fill the masses

No time soon at all this will be my goto IG force until something totally new comes out say like Ad-Mech.
I do at some point soon plan to make a Cadian,Vallhallan, and Steel Legion tanks for sale just for the heck of it.
I went with purple because I find it matches the green better.
Might end up doing Pact and WE in a few months again when ADB's WE book comes out.

Here is the next project in early stages the basic build finished, later I will superdetail them a bit with stowage maybe a first aid kit, maybe some camo netting for the roll cage.

anyone have a spare tire ?

That board is great, terrain is a skill I just have no room to master.
I can't make a building like that guy,but I am still very proud of my Bastion.
The people at FW say they are working on new Realm of Battle inserts, perhaps a trench one(which I want badly)
I have a crazy idea for when they do.
Sit the RoB board ontop of a 6x4 Zone mortaliz set, perhaps make some brackets or something.
That way you have a battlefield with an underground complex.
But have it where I can use the Mortalis set by itself too if I wanted to do Spack Hulk.

I had a FW techie that I cut in half ages ago to use as a tank commander.
I long since sold the tank he drove but I kept the driver knowing someday I would use him again.

I want to base him on a 60mm with an Imperial Robot.

Magos Parker is coming along even better than I hoped,as I am not the best sculptor.
But the robes I think are ok

A little diversion to keep the batteries fresh
After reading Emperor's Gift I felt compeled to whip up a Grey Knight Termie.
I used Alclad Chrome to give it a Holy Shine you cannot get with a brush.
Great care is needed to paint the details, you cannot fix a screwup on the chrome.

If you noticed the title has changed,Not really much left to do for the Lancers,I have tons of Elyisans left over.
Maybe I can parlay them into something else,do more Serpartists, trade em for Krieg or Steel Legion maybe.
I am burnt out on the Guard right now, though I do have a few more tanks left in me,
Might be a good time to whip up a Cadian winter one for all the Hostile Environment players and plop it on E-bay.
But as you can see I have been painting Grey Knights ever since I read Empror's Gift.
And like usual an tiny 5 man Termie project blew up into a Full-On Army.
Since the Knights field Inquisitor's and I have always, always wanted to do them.
Now this will be a Termie Armie, might whip up PA Interceptors to capture objectives(Are they good for that?)
I bought my 3rd box of Termies today going for two 10 man Termie Squads
Next week I pick up the StormRaven to shuttle the boys around the board, already have the Dred to go with it.
I decided to Pick up a Termie Librarian and convert him into a Knight with the old one becoming a Justicar/Knight with Warding Stave
This was a subtle conversion that I did by adding a GK Stormbolter and changing the books into Chapter Badges by add sword pieces carefully

I was in love with the very first tank, and then to see you take it to the next level with every step of the way and then ending on CHROME grey knights?! You're a madman sir! I am very interested in the weathering though. Is it a hard process with a lot of thought or a bit of taking a sponge and slashing it about randomly til you're happy and repeating with the rust effects too?
I'm not much of a reader but is there a post in here that details how you get the weathering that way or even every tool/paint/etc used? I'd love to try it some day.
Again, amazing work.

Here are my models for the book Characters from Left to Right
Justicar Gallo,Malchadiel,Dumenidon,Hyperion
I did Sothis later but switched it up by moving the auspex
Sothis now has the swords since he was described as being tutored by Dumenidon
And Malchadiel has the Psycannon for gaming purposes ( I feel better fits his tech nature to have him wield a relic like a psycannon)
Automatically Appended Next Post: I have the Inceptor Squad from Emperor's Gift Chromed and Balthasar Golded
Justicar Gallo

48376
Post by: Capitansolstice
awesome!
4271
Post by: Eisenhorn
Last night it was bothering me that Malchadiel has a Psycannon and not twin swords.
Enter the Clones.
I used the exact same bits to make a twin falchon version of Malchadiel
John Woo Hyperion coming very soon
I masked with the smallest tamiya tape and protected the mini with Silly Putty( The worlds best flexible masking material)
Well my first go with airbrush blades had mixed sucess, just need practice is all, did'nt help the airbrush spit water on the blade right at the crucial point.
I used Praxi White drypaint to kind of pull it back togther.
I am having problems getting the reflection right on the falchon though.
Gotta few spares of those that I will practice with.
48376
Post by: Capitansolstice
It looks great, but Im sure it takes practice
4271
Post by: Eisenhorn
Second batch of blades came out much better, getting the hang on it.
Even for the Falchion too.
I used an old Metal Kngiht I had to be Brotherhood Champion.
The metal ones had cooler bolters /w belt feeds.
I have the alternates for Hyperion and Malchadiel
I also picked up Crowe
Automatically Appended Next Post: Here are the finished models
Automatically Appended Next Post: So After working on the Brotherhood Champion for like for four hours today,I finish him and I am very happy with the results.
Then this Build magically appears,Needless to say this is the new Champ
4271
Post by: Eisenhorn
Ok so the Brotherhood Champion got a total rework from the metal body.
But I am so much more happy with this Champion, looks like what I picture Janus to look like.
I have a good handle on NMM powerblades now.
This might be a good Pre-Heresy Style for the Original 8 or super fancy Purifyers
Templar Tabards, DA hooded Helms,Knight body.
I also reworked the base, using a choice terrain bit that was waiting for the right model.
48376
Post by: Capitansolstice
I love the Brotherhood champion, he's very subdued on his base, but he also pops!

Post by: Eisenhorn
Banged out the Stormraven today, just need to add a couple of transfers and some light weathering.
I added a Knight chest and pad for the pilot, the gold Aegis looks good through the cockpit.
Never happy with a stock model I scribed out the flaps and positioned them down.
Which is accurate for a aircraft on the deck or coming in low for a attack run.
I fiend for the day they make plastic Thunderbolts.
I also finished of this Termie Justicar with Thrice Blessed Daemonhammer and Psycannon
Automatically Appended Next Post: Finished off the Stormraven,a good job I could of done better.
The transfers I wanted to use broke and I had no spares,so I had to made do with what I used.
I did not preshade the aircraft either, but that aside I still have a good looking model
4271
Post by: Eisenhorn
Even though it looked cool as hell,I replaced the Psycannon with a standard stormbolter.
Now he is the perfect model for Grand Master Mordrak
Guess I HAVE to make me some Ghost Knights now
Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok like I said with this weapon swap I now have my model for Grand Master Mordrak.
And the first Ghost Knight, still have to do the blade.
I like the idea of Ghost knight being like Spectral Black Knights.
I made a dark metalic mix with boltgun and black and then gave the model a wash of Nuin Oil.
I drybrushed the text first silver, then white and hit that with Waywater Green glaze.
4271
Post by: Eisenhorn
I finished the Brotherhood Banner Bearer.
Then whille on the can reading the Grey Knight codex I saw the Ghost Knights get to upgrade a guy with a banner too
This one I got to freehandmI gave it a Legion of the Damed esque feel to it.
Are they related somehow to the Damned, spurned on by the same insane devotion that follows after death?
I used the name Mortain for the banner as that was the planet the Squad died on.
4271
Post by: Eisenhorn
I finished the last Ghost Knight this afternoon,Twin Falchons.
That brings the unit to it's legal maximum.I will make at least two more at a later date for Mordrak's special rule that lets him add more knight each time he is wounded.

Both came from the Termie kit
I just finished this Paladin too.
I have about 5 knights to do,should go pretty quick they are all chromed and bladed, just need to pick out details, ect.
I am putting the Paladins on bases with Vertical elements, like the HQ's
The standard Knights will have flat bases.
Just ordered the parts for a most excellent Dreadknight Relic Coontemptor
Stay Tuned
2nd Paladin(4th if you count the first two from the very beginning)

I redid a bunch of blades from the first batch, that were just steel.
I made a tute out of one, that I will post in a few days.
In the meantime I saw a cool army that is using both Knights and Deathwatch.
That gave me the idea to add one as part of an Inquisitors retinue.
Since I am only doing one why not Brother Capatian Artemis, that spins off onto a second idea.
Bringing as many 54mm Inquisitor models into 28mm scale,I have Hector Rex already on the way and he is a dead ringer for Witchhunter Tyrus which is how I am going to paint him as.
Brother Captain Artemis
I also made a Deathwatch Iron Snake, just cause
Not sure about him as is,even though wrist Stormbolter makes every sense for DW
I think it makes him look too Grey Knightish wih the spear.

I started work on 54mm Bounty Hunter Proxie using the Inquistor with Inferno Pistol model.
He'll make a great Interragator when finished
I also got my Relic Contemptor, great model with Two Grey Knight style shields molded right on.
This is going to be my DreadKnight Stand-In as I HATE the real model.
The Contemptor has a very Humanoid look to it so I feel it works well.
I used the DreadKnight Swordhand to replace the Right power claw(after pic I removed claw bracket and fixed in place with g/s).
I have two more arms on the way and powerclaw which I have a Heavy Psycannon to mount onto and the assault cannon.
I also have a brass etch sprue on the way soon that I will bling him up with
Still a bit more to go on him

The Deamonhost is coming out badass,I cannot believe I never saw this model hiding inside that crappy stock one.
Once I figured out to use the Zombie hand instead of that stupid looking lobster hand, the model just flowed.
Scale down the horns, add a shackle which also nicely hides the join, and use hex and round rod for the bolt for the zombie hand.
Kind of looks like Evil Jesus now.

Wow, thanks for that information! That's REALLY useful to know! I already liked the model, but this makes it even more of a must-buy
As always, great job on the models!. My only nitpick would be the pouches on the troopers: They look a bit unfinished and could use some extra wash and painted details. Apart from that, though, great work all around!

I needed a change of pace, felt like doing 6th edition terrain.
I picked up a Blastscape and Statue
The Blastscape is neat,This will probally be My Mysterious Terrain.
Never know what is hiding in that Rhino shell could be a unexploded ordinace could be a Psychneuein hive, never know.
The the trees can also count as Mysterious,so a Blastscape can have two different rules possibly.
I went with the Dark Angels as the unfortunate victim for a couple of reasons.
Black is nice and neutral, with the Black Armor Red Chapter badge this could possibly remains of the Fallen
I used a fallen marine to add some bling, totally goes with this model.
Which also makes it a cool objective for Hunt the Fallen
The backstory to this piece is they took a hit and the Captain ate it.
A couple of Brothers got out but had to leave fast(as if they were being chased)
And took the relic banner off of the Captains backpack.
They also emptied a crate for ammo
32169
Post by: Rogue Wolves
I think it looks really cool, my only complaint (if it needed one) is that why is the rhino all rusted but the guy is only barley rusted?

Post by: Eisenhorn
Rogue Wolves wrote:I think it looks really cool, my only complaint (if it needed one) is that why is the rhino all rusted but the guy is only barley rusted?
I can answer that actually because I did put thought and reason behind it
The rhinos paint burned off in the hit so it was bare metal.
The Captain was killed and was drug out by a survivor,he was dinged to hell but the paint on his armor did not burn off.
The survivor grabbed the banner off the Captains standard grabbed some ammo from the crate and made like a tree and got the hell out of there.
The ground is a bit darker IRL,So the trees contrast more.
I loved the burnt out trees on the cover so I recreated it.
Then I improved on it by using ash white weathering powder as, ash

So I will be making high standard terrain,Hopefully I am able to hold the walls together with Rare-Earth Magnets for ease of transport
But today I built the Skyshield, which may be getting LED's which would rock.
I also built "The Tower" an Inquisitorial Bastion and a Listening Post Bunker.

So for probally the 10th time I lost the auction for the old oop Cities of Death Battlemat.
So I decided to handpaint one on canvas as a distraction when I get burnt on my army(instead of starting a new army like always )
I bought a large 36x48 canvas(will eventually have to get a second to make 6x4)
and primed it with grey gesso.
Now like the Mayor I have to become a cityplanner and figure out the layout but I will be using a pic of the GW one as reference.
I plan to use the airbrush and template to paint the outlines were the buildings go.
I will get nice crisp lines that way,but will also be using artists pens and perhaps markers too.
So here is the canvas getting primed up
Well I have the flight deck of the SkyShield well under way.
Keeping the rust mainly on the diamond pattern tread.
I like the idea of adding LED's though that would be a first for me,if I do that I will have to put this off a week.

Worked on the Skyshield stanchon leg until I was happy.
I used the hairspray technique using Tamya Hull Red base, a layer of AK chipping fluid, then Vallejo Dark Grey.

I then gave the bolts a wash with AK's Rust Wash and used dust effects and rust wash for light streaks.

My Realm of Battle board came in,off to the side for now until I plan it proper.
I am thinking the Ash Waste sceme for the GW site but with patchy snow.
Something nice gritty and cold for deadly cityfight battles.
I am selling the Inquisitor Tower,The primer roughcoated it and I also wanted it taller.
So consider ths practice and I will be selling a primed Grey Knight Bastion.
I could of made it work but like I said this ended up being a test run.
But I did get an awesome Listening Post out of it.
I finished the SkyShield landing pad, took me a couple of days but I am very happy with it.
No LED's for now, maybe at a later datemwhen I am out of models but right now I am flush with plastic to paint.

Automatically Appended Next Post: So last night after work I find this waiting at the door
The FW Realm of Battle tile,so today I will finally start on the madness that is a Realm of Battle board and you know the motto always start with the shinest shiney you have
So when you first look at the board you might be disapointed with the ground texture, relax.
It is a base, you can paint it if you want but it is really meant to be flocked and hit with modeling sand.
I use a mix I buy at the railroad hobby shop 2 one quart containers of fine and medium ballast and a bag of small talus.
I mixed them all up in a spare container for a nice ground mix.
I used the Original Tacky Glue a old housepaint brush and a cup of water to help spread the glue and the ground mix
I broke the board up into six imaginary sections and layed the glue down then dipped the edge of the brush in water and spread the glue.
Once spread I added the ground mix and pressed it down lightly with my hand.
Then I would turn the piece over remove the excess sand and start on the next section.
You will want to lay the glue down in this way so it does not start to dry before you add the sand.
Once I had the board covered I used Scenic Spray Cement and coated the whole board generously but not letting it pool.
I then used a damp paper towel to remove glue and sand on detail I did not want it.
Afterward make sure to flush the sprayer with warm soapy water so you can reuse the sprayer(do this as soon as you are finished with it do not let dry at all)
Next it will get a black primer coat then the painting begins
4271
Post by: Eisenhorn
I have the ground work painted up.
First I primed the whole thing black then I used Army Painter Leather Brown spray to dust over the black to turn it dark brown

When I can with high money items,I like to add a little something.
I left the tile alone for the most part, but this piece caught my eye,the security camera.
Now I happen to have just the right size for a AK product called realistic lenses.
I used the 3mm optic colored lense
Takeing a #17 flat blade I removed the molded in lense cutting it flush.
Using tacky glue I replaced it with the AK lense.
That along with some more rust work and I can put this tile to bed and start on the next,a very cool idea using an expansion tile and moonscape craters.
I did this in less than a day
I am Billy the "Paintbrush Kid" : lol: Automatically Appended Next Post: One down eight to go
For the second tile I started with one of my two expansion tiles.
My board will always always be for 40k,so I wanted a few themed tiles.
This one was simple take a few moonscape craters and plastic glue them down on the flat expnsion tile.
Instant barrage tile.
I layed the groundwork same as last time, think PVA glue, sand, watered down PVA applied with spray bottle.
I should have this one finished tommarrow before I have to go to work at 4pm.
Drying as we speak, shame PVA takes forever and a day to dry.

I also started the second expansion tile, this one is straight out of the Battle for Macragge set.

This, right here, is what the RoB boards are all about. People complain about them, but they're designed for people to just go to town on them. Cut 'em up, rip 'em apart, glue things on 'em, personalize them and make them your own. Can't wait for the first Batrep featuring these babies!
4271
Post by: Eisenhorn
I wholeheartly agree, any stock model is an anthema to me.
But funny enough I am more willing to mess around with the expansion tiles first,I need to take a good look at the standard set, make sure I do not mess up the hills.
I think I am going to leave the main 6 tiles relatively unchanged, the will be a crater or two.
What my thing will be is,to keep pumping out expansion tiles like this afterwards.
I would like to get a trench section going,a lake,city street,railroad tracks.
Ya know I am torn to pay a large fee for FW trenches or just wait for them to put out a trench tile.
Speaking of which regarding the Masterclass books, they have great tutorials that use parts you can not even buy.
4271
Post by: Eisenhorn
I finished the crater tile this afternoon.
I used enamels to filter the rocks along with weathering powder to get that realistic apperance.
Then I added soot blast in the center craters in a star pattern and the same with the white ashes around the craters.
Two down six to go,well thats a bold face lie.
I just bought two more expansion tiles
I really like the idea or a minefield tile and the other who knows I think I'll put that up for a while.
I really want to make a trench tile, but if I was a betting man
I'd say even money that is the next special tile they make and trenches on Ebay are astronomical
Automatically Appended Next Post: Alrighty I have the next one almost finished just have to work the crater.

Hey-ooo
Do not think with all the terrain I am doing I forgot the Inquisition.
While at my FLGS to pick up some scenery for the next tile,my special order came in.
The Finecast Inquisitor with Inferno pistol.
Wait a minute I hear you say,you already did him he is a few pages back.
Yes but not in Finecast which is a converters dream compared to metal.
Using him as the base I was finally able to recreate my Favorite character of all time,
Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn.
I tried to make him four times before all of them crappy, even though at the time I was happy with them.
I guess pratice makes perfect because I finally nailed it.
I used dragonforge small cable for his scalp wires which leads to the power unit on his back.
The head is from the Forge World Enforcer which has that great dead fish stare.
The staff headpiece is clipped from the Black Library Eisenhorn miniature as heretical as it sounds.
But that mini is awful, looks more like Mr.Burns going on a rampage through Springfield : lol:

I have started on the forrest tile(In truth now it is finished and basecoated, forgot to take pics :( )
I used a Celuclay/Ultracal mix to raise the ground level so the trees all blend in.
Funny thing I added deadfall while it was drying outside and a bird thought it was just what thier bedroom needed.
I came out to a bare patch where the stick was : lol:
Lemons into Lemonade I was able to model a large puddle
But the exiciting thing
My brother must of brought these in the doorway from outside but never told me.
He is funny like Rainman, would not stop calling and texting me avout mechwarrior online, but does not think to tell me I have GIANT BOXES outside <_<

Ok I have the forrest tile finnaly sorted out.
I was origianlly using dead twigs as deadfall but once primed the two different type of wood just smacked you in the face.
Sooo I took a plastic tree half and made a cast of that.
I made 3 tree halfs and glued them tto the base.
Now the deadfall matches the trees, infact now I have fell trees which is what I wanted in the first place
If you look at the one fallen tree at the bottom you see the hole the bird made when he stole the first twig when it was drying.
That will be perfect for Water Effects
I have a total of 9 GW trees for this board a respectable forrest for any table.

I have the next tile finished,it is one of the vanilla flat tiles.
In truth the rest of the enitre board is at the point where it just needs a couple hours drybrushing except for the flat vanilla skull tile.
Still have to make that one, then like said I have one last flat tile to theme.
Might just throw it in the closet until new terrain comes out,who knows.
No one idea has bit me in the ass yet.
I also completed my modular hill set,two sets truth be told.
You need to buy two mod hill sets to get this hill.Otherwise you have to use it on the board edge.
This way I can set the board up as a valley, throw this in the middle and viola instant mountain terrain, perfect for the Hymilzayas
I added a little gold static grass to add a spot of color.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I have the next vanilla board finished, this is the flat skull tile.
As soon as I drybrush the valley tiles the board will be finished but for that last theme tile.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I started on the first Mortalis tile to see how I will tackle this project.
The tiles come in a black resin so using straight black primer could leave alot of bare spots, plus I have all the concrete too.
So I used Tamiya Grey primer to lightly basecoat the tile,I then used Alclad Black Spray Primer on anything I am going to paint mettalic.
I then noticed usless I want to spend forever hand painting the floor I was going to have to make a mask for the conctete.
I used a piece of computer paper and a pencil to make a rubbing of the tile which I then cut out with sisciors,I plan to do this again then transfer the image onto cardstock for a more durable mask.
But as long as I do not flood it the paper shoud suffice it fit so snug I had to use my hobby knife to remove the mask

That Eisenhorn model is lovely: great conversion and a nice paintjob! The only thing I am not sold on is the green skull atop his staff, since the colour makes it look rather goofy and it detracts from what should be the real focus point of the model: the face. Is it supposed to be glowing? If so, you could add some more accents to emphasise the effect. Otherwise, I'd go for a different colour.
Apart from that, though, great job! Keep it up!

I hear ya Kraut thought the same myself,Redid it grey but do you have a better suggestion?
Here is the tile weathered up with the final paint sceme.
I used AK streaking grimes (Standard,Rust,Winter,Dark) and worked them into the biege walls.
I used AK Blue-Brown very thinned as a filter for the floor and thicker for all the rivets.
Then when the floor was dry I added a filter of Winter Grime over all the concrete on the floor.
This one took me two days but I think I can easily knock it down to one.
With 15 more to do,I better be fast.

Awesome thread. Just been viewing it on my phone and have been blown away by what I've been seeing. Going to gave to give it a 'proper' viewing when I get near my computer.
Excellent work. Keep it up.

Zone Mortalis colour scheme is looking good!
About the skull, I'd either do it in plain bone colour or paint it in blue, as if it were glowing. I'd maybe use an effect similar to the one I use when I'm painting the Plasma coils on my Plasma pistols: Start with Enchanted Blue, then layer succesively lighter hues on top and finally add some kind of glare effect to the surrounding areas. It needn't be a spectacular effect, you could do something fairly low key and still have it look pretty convincing.
Come to think of it, you could also do a bone coloured skull with glowing eye sockets, or something like that.
Anyway, just a couple of ideas -- hope this helps

Post by: Eisenhorn
I do not think blue will work there is no blue anywhere else that would become the focal point.
I like the glowy sockets idea, I am going to first try a grey tone and you tell me if it looks better.
I am trying not to paint the skull bone because it is supposed to be made out of the 'Lith' which was supoosed to be a Giant Warp Infused Crystal.
But If I cannot pull off the grey then I will paint it bone and chaulk it to artistic license.

True. But then, the skull on the original Eisenhorn model's staff was painted in bone colour in the "official" GW paintjob, so the precedent goes either way on this
Don't lose any sleep over this being accurate, go with what looks cool. In any case, I'm sure you'll arrive at an awesome solution

By jove I think I got it
I think the grey works well,Thanks Kraut,Ya saved the model there
Alrighty then
I have the next tile prepped, this one is the T-corridor.
The prepping consists of scrubing the tile in the sink with soap and a srcubby, rinsing and let dry.
Then the whole tile is primed with Tamiya Grey Fine Surface Primer.
Then I used Alclad airbrush black primer to preshade.

Once dry sponge on masking fluid and spray the wall Barley Grey
Once remove the masking fluid
Next will be to brush on the concrete basecoat and Beige Acloves

This is an old Necromunda model I love.
With his headband I think he is pefect for a Rouge Trader Navigator Horatio
And I want to add a Harlequin Troupe as Allies, just because it seems cool and fluffy.
I have read about Harlequins quite a few times in the different Inquisitor books.
Shame I cannot paint diamonds to save my life I would of loved black and white diamonds on the right leg

I started work on the Harlequin Troupe of End Times
Hence the lack of usual garish colors and the colors Black and White(Good and Evil)and Red (Bloodshed the final war).
Their shows have been reported with greater frequency the closer we approch
999.M41
Witnesses stuck with a feeling of impending doom after witnessing the show.
They are also my Inquisition allies which are also this color,it ties em all in.
I wish I could paint the diamond pattern but after four tries,it just ain't happening.
I get em ok but unless perfect it throws the whole model off.
I finished the Shadowseer and am working on the Death Jester and Troupe Leader.
I found a great use for the hat I clipped off the Inquisitor when I made Eisenhorn,it is fluffy too.
The Troupe Leader stole a WitchHunters hat while leaving him alive.
There is one Witchhunter out there who will pop a blood vessel if you mention Eldar
Before anyone mentions,I already fixed the chin after the photo

As far as this goes, for my ork checks. I DO NOT paint them on at first. I think that this might work for diamonds too, pick up an SX micron artist's pen. I think mine cost about $4 American. Well worth it for drawing on insignias and symbols, and them painting in the lines after drawn. BTW, I am no artist so it really helps to have that for a guide.
Also, WOW! love the stuff you have going on here. Subscribed!

I tried that Gorgrim it is harder that doing it on armor plates
It is a round curvy leg and the pen does not like.
I'm cool with the candy canes that is the last I am ever painting of Eldar for a long while if ever.
When ther HH stuff comes out it is 99% the last I will ever buy of GW's marine figures.
I am so stoked you have no idea,my favorite army is my Sons of Horus.
World Eaters are right up there.see other threads

Ugh. I am sure glad I don't do Space Elves.
Do you mean that GW is going to put out HH figs?
I forgot to say last time that your Aquila lander crash is amazing. I am a terrain nut and you have some wonderful stuff here. Thanks for posting it.

No what I ment was,and in truth this has already been the case since Gamesday 2010.
I will only buy Pre-Heresy Marines from ForgeWorld for any Marine.
I do not see myself using plastic Marines anymore.
If you notice I have always painted 30k and not 40k for Marines anyhow.
Even my Chaosy World Eaters are a mix of the FW and Badab sets.
Scratch that Heresy sets, they can finally stop the pretense the old armor is a badab thing. Automatically Appended Next Post: Never one to be idle I finished my fourth Mortalis tile.
Yep another T-Tile,wheat the heck is with the doubles?
That is just how they are packaged.
This is the first tile I used cutout inlays.
I used tinfoil to get the shape of the opening, then I cut that out and used as a template, worked like a dream.
That was tile four.If you do not remember I said I would reveal the grand plan I my project.
Here we have Four Mortalis Tiles
Here we have the Realm of Battle tile sitting neatly and sturdily on top
This will be a Two Tier Table
The Top will be the Realm of Battle Board
The Bottom is the underground Complex

This is a one off test piece
I loved Apologists Guardsmen using Elysian bodies and Cadian Respirator Heads
I still have a crapload of Elyisans so I bought 30 respirator heads.
This will be template the guardsmen that go with my Tank Company.
I painted him in winter tones to go with that theme.
This was how I pictured the Merican uniform more than standard Elyisan.

This guy is pretty sweet! I can see why you liked the combo I was looking for those respirator heads before, but couldn't find any. Where did you buy them from?

That is indeed a sweet head swap, Apologist is so awesome, love your paintjob too!
@Rawson: I could have sworn FW used to do respirator heads in sets of 10, but seems they have replaced them with the hostile environment packs:

Those I had seen before, but was just looking for the heads. Not that the hostile environment packs are bad (they're actually pretty cool ), just not what I needed for a (now scrapped) project

One thing I feel the need to say: the leman russes at the front look nice and all, but if I saw one of our tanks with rust like that I'd gak and then I'd find who was responsible.

They are probally about 200 years old

Post by: BaronIveagh
Doesn't matter. Rust like that isn't from wear, it's from being neglected by the crew. You'll see some rust, don't be me wrong, but that's a few years of failing to do maintenance there. If she's that bad with rust, there will be other issues.
4271
Post by: Eisenhorn
In short they look better rusted,I know you would never see it IRL.
this is make belive,so they are fighting on a planet with a highly corrosive atmosphere.
Which supposedly 40k has, everthing is polluted in 40k,acid rain that burns skin(Ravenor)death worlds you name it.
IRL armor does not chip like that unless is has been knocked out for months/years.
So stop raining on my parade Baron

I like the rusty look, and as mentioned this is science fiction and we're free to paint and model our figures using the 'rule of cool' if we wish. Obviously some people prefer to keep things realistic, and more power to them for that, but most people are just happy to follow their own aesthetic path.
Terrain and the guardsman are looking great by the way Eisenhorn

looking great! Can I ask which paints you used for the earth/grey tones?

Post by: Eisenhorn
Well I start with it primed black, then I use army painter leather spray to lightly, lightly randomly dust the surface.
This makes it dark mottled brown.
Then I get a paper plate and squirt on dark grey, black, light tan, dark tan, burnt umber and burnt sienna and a chocolate brown.
I then start going to town,I'll drybrush the whole thing with the dark grey, then mix in some tan right on the same brush go over it with that.
Then I may mix the burnt umber with chocolates brown for a medium dark brown, hit it with that.
The last step is the highlight which I use a craft paint that looks just like a darker Commando.Khaki
No right or wrong way to do it,but try to leave a bit of brown showing in spots.
I used craft paints for this, folk art and Martha Stewart(which is an excellent range if you can get past the name)
