Some cool stuff there by far the clankers are pretty cool models I have to say, guns, backpacks and pretty much everything is nice stuff.
These heads are spot on the detail is really good shame they don't do ten designs mind but hey 5 is a start, it was fatty that got me thinking about my squiggoth and the crew I need to man it.
lols! thats why my 2.. well 1 now.. cats are the best... they act like dogs.. or slowed cats i guess, long story of why i have cats instead of the dog like i wanted.. but im ok with it.. for now
Automatically Appended Next Post: wowowowowowowowow just read some things.. you have a fething squiggoth????!!!
i have an idea.. might be out there but... what if they put alot of animal furs all over it.. ad three long ropes next to each nostril... put little wooden triangels at the top.. and gave it an eyepatch!!!
but hmm in game i wouldnt know.. but for model coolness wise... cannons are always cool

Na it just looked cool IMHO, however I have a lot if hair on my back these days and a taste for banoffee pie of late so maybe ……….. Mind you I have not started to throw my own pooh at people YET!

well i think that is asking for a thank you...thank you for not posting any pics of that action^^
well actually yesterday we completed the build of a settle for our balcony... some spare wood we had cobbled together ... so i guess that fall under the same piece of action^^

Yes, close but mine was all manual labour, plus I only went out to give the lady a hand and ended up stuck out their
I only got away because my mum and her other half turned up, and they had the cheek to say carry on with it .
lol...actually it was the same story with the bank making... my wife started with it... she usually complains about how i do such things... so i let her do all the measurings so later on she can´t complain about that... but somehow she did make some mistakes and all and first we then me ended up finishing the build...
as for your airbrushattempt... what was the primer color?
for me it looks as if you´ve been very hesitant with the AB... the coats look very thin...or was it primed black and i totally misjudged it after all? lol... what scheme is it intended to become?
It was undercoated black then a coat of vallejo hull red (which is a great colour ) then a mix of 1 to 1 ish of the hull red and flat brown with a little mix of lazur yellow added.
It is a base colour for rust, nothing finished as of yet, then I will pick out detail and panels and add scratches later, it really is just a layer coat to build up some colour base.
I also want to try out some weathering techniques on this, so it really is early days, hence this was just a trial but you lot insisted on updates
if you want to do weathering... then i insist you try to use soething like the salt techinque... that would look awsome done with an AB... just screams for something like that....
and i am afraid neither color shows up here... it all looks mostly grey to me... might be the flash? killing all colors? maybe a daylight pic?
OMG LDD- That Iwata is a top of the line airbrush! The tank looks good too! Now try spraying badab black or some other wash for shading, you'll be amazed
@Vik- you can't do the salt technique unless you first paint the rust color, and an airbrush gives you thousands of new ways to weather.
Thanks it comes from the lake district charity we buy them as it goes back to keeping England Green well the lake district at least

Dave yes A friend of mine recommended it and said if you are going to buy an airbrush get a good one "BUT TAKE CARE OF IT" so the misses said what do you want for your birthday so I told her and hey presto she aint all bad really
I am trying to do a couple of things from the FW master class book, there was some finishes in there that look really good, plus I am just experimenting with some techniques hence these pics
I was going for a wash maybe after I have added some orange colour to this in patches so to blend the colours together, then adding some detail to panels in metal finishes and then a couple of colour panels.
Vik I was wondering why you thought it was grey but it actually is more a muddy red brown, I will take some daylight pictures tomorrow ….. if we get some that is
Also want to try the sponge chipping effect, that looks pretty cool on stuff I have seen, then last but not least the weathering powders and a little oil paint to represent oil runs ect.
So Vik as you can see this is very early on the pics were just to prove that I was doing something LOL I am sure this will be slow going but I want to get the right look for future finishes
I have a few Grot tanks to do as I have all your attentions, my plan is to deter from the normal Ork / Grot colour schemes but to take the schemes of WW2 tanks what do you think this will include camo schemes as well as flatter colours schemes
Never mind tried another colour to help with the rust effect UNDERCOAT then gave it a wash of devlan mud not to sure what I think so far
I might give it another touch of the last rust effect and then lighten the mix and give another coat, then I start on the main colour and body details.
Here is some pics of it now, sorry about the light issues it would come up either to light or to dark
It looks good and rusty to me! Remember, this is just your basecoat, Adding your other colors will give it contrast, and therefore you'll get more feedback.
ah...now i understand... yep...that flash killed off a lot of your work mate!
i like it already... what scheme had you originally planned for that grot tank?
i like the WWII color schemes idea... which schemes did you had in mind? amreican, russian? i have seen quite some very nice red army related grot armies out there... for some reason a theme that lends itself quite nicely to grot armies... but i also could imagine an american ´nam army ...with footsloggers to assist the look... that would be something new^^
the pics you´ve shown...i think the rustyness you have covered quite good... now on to the main color...the sponge methode by the way i did on smaller sclae already and i think it looks charming to say the least... somehwre i also hev seen someone using pencil for weathering means...
Mixture of finishes Russian, German, American and of course British I have a few to do so I am trying out some methods on this one to see how it goes and what I like and dislike.
I think I will do one Red tank (loosely based on the Red Baron look but a tank) this will be the scratch built Tiger Tank one of mine probably, I have had a few idea's to scratch build another couple of tanks based around actual tanks to go with this now.
I want it to be a little different to normal paint jobs, there will be varying camouflage patterns as well as standard flat colours, also I want to tie them into my Ork army which has taken on a German inspired look thanks to Kromlech.
ok...an image of your army is foring in my mind... is the fluff behind your army supporting the many nations of tanks? like they scrounged up the tankpüarts from the different armies?...if so...good idea^^
i specially like the red baron...as a tank that is a nice idea...and a lil splash of color to go with all the rather sober looking tanks will be nice...
will this be an ork tank or a grot one?...the tiger will be a cool addition...i like the silhouette of that tank...my favortite one from old german tanks...only at all second to the mark V of the britts^^
The Tiger tank is the one at the beginning of this blog and its grot not ork I have some FW tanks for orks but want to convert some German 1/35 kits for some more ( but that will be later ).
I think with a few schemes thrown in it will not be to dull, but I miss building military models as a kid hence going back to me roots
The reason of different nations stems from FW produced grot tanks, a mixed bag
ah...so FW is guilty of this...well...we have to sue them then^^
just took a look back and yep there it was...grot tiger tank...^^
when i get the job i will get me some kits to build...the fun is to make nice stuff... sometimes frm scratch but sometimes you want it done quicker and then a ready made kit is the better way...
also i long...long ...i tell you...for that empire steam tank for my collction^^
so...^^
i dont think by the way it will look dull ...not dull at all!!!
pics aren´t that blurry... i like what i see... all AB painted ? looks very good...
the blurry-ness is mostly caused from lighting issues... best way to fix that is in my opinion to make daylight pics on your windowsill or balcony where you get lots of good light...even in rainy britain^^
also...the pics with flash are iirc better focuused because of the time the flash takes and the lense is opened acording to the flash... might be wrong tho... also if blurry-ness is bothering you...the timer would be a way to get around the pushing the button caused wobble problem... well and of course getting a tripod... me=lucky one got one recently for way cheap on a fleamarket even^^
that bike looks very cool... i follow their thread too... and yes i want to see where this will be leading!

This camera hates me I tell you just hates me I think I need to use the custom settings but cant be assed so you will have to make do I am afraid, but will have a look to try and improve my technique
yeah... i managed so far without one but i think soon i make my own lightbox...then i really will hit the bottom of my skills^^ anyone can see the crap i am making

Thanks mate and like the new Avatar after all CATPIRATE is away of life and not a thing the colour is the undercoat at the moment for all but trying to figure out the best way to progress then it's detailing and weathering
Got my new compressor yesterday but need to get a hose for it apparently one does not come with it if you can steal one don't get caught otherwise buy one
but need to get a hose for it apparently one does not come with it
d´oh... i hope it was thus a bit cheaper? as if i didn´t knew better...
It had everything else in it so it was still a good price, I could nick the one of my other compressor but I want to keep that set up for base coats guess I will have to order one then
Mind you it does say it does not have one included Pay more attention me thinks
very good work done there LDD! finally an update to shut our gobs^^
i like the bridge...looks good...good choice of bitz there...one minor issue i ahve tho...i think for my own taste the mast is a bit on the tall side...compared to the length of the shiptank it looks a bit weird...but only just so^^
the femal tau...cool conversion there mate... is that a DE body? nice choice of bitz there too! with a bit more hair on top of her head i say shoe would do EATATAU proud!^^ (famous webcomic of non GW related contens^^)
@Dave The railings are from the conflix kit cut down to fit, had a load nocking around from an ebay buy so thought I would use them.
It is a 40k grot tank not Mordheim it will become more 40K style soon
@Vik I know what you mean but there is a reason for this which I hope will become more apparent soon, lets just say the mast is a sauce of power supply
Once I figure the layout for the mast and bulk out the rest of the ship I hope it will come together more, its very work in progress but will take all comments on board then ignore them LOL
The alien body and head are from Zealot miniatures just put one together to have a look I like the general look and don't want to much hair, they seem to be a follically challenged race
Viktor von Domm wrote:don´t you mean rather wreck...
coincidence...i doubt it^^
I like the corroded teeth look... Hmm my next table will have to be an epic junkyard warzone I think... now to gather enough time to build the frakking thing...
lol those are always funny, reminds me of a guy who comes to my GW every blue moon, he has a giant who is wearing a marilyn monroe dress, in the typical pose, with a screaming pesant looking underneath. it was quite a funny model
wow...LDD... now that was a worthy update! looks very good... high detailed as a grot creation should look !
tho one thing has to be said... your crappy picture taking makes us all loose out on all the nice stuff you added to that model! we demand beter pics!!!

I do my best the camera really is a piece of gak I have to say, the misses chose it so what do you expect sold to her by some dam sales guy trying to get rid of them probably
I will try better I promise …..
RW still searching for that gunner ork …… I am sure I had more some where
Maybe soon told the misses she seems quite cool about it really
I have been informed through the grape vine so it's a case how it pans out, but I have a few cards up my sleeve will see who comes out worst, I smell a tribunal coming on
leave a nice time bomb even now... hide something that really gets stinky in due time... so whne the hammer falls at least you leave the lot rotting with nice smelly things^^-.-
No I will go one better, I know how to feth the machinery better than they can work it
Thanks Dave but to be honest the job sucks, in the long run it would give me the push I need to get out of it, with that in mind I will properly end up proving it aint my fault.
be careful... ruining machinery... that would be kind of complicated... but a dead squirrel in the pipe.....now that is good healthy fun for everyone...and provides a job for the next guy
Hey LDD, great stuff!!! I had no idea you had this thread, followed this link that dstein posted.
Excellent stuff, very impressive! You do really good work and I'm sorry I didn't get here sooner. You have some excellent conversions here (specially I liked the Catachan w/ Shotgun, that's awesome!) and your scratchbuilding skills are ace! iSubbed and will be staying up to date!
Yeah LDD..You could be adding some sand to your leftover latex house paint and using that paint roller to lay down some cool concrete texture!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Latex paint stays wet longer than acrylic too, so it's great for weathering techniques like streaking and spraying rubbing alcohol over paint to diffuse it into cool patterns!
what you don´t say dave?! and now after all those month you spill such a gem of information??? i have still a can rattling around in my cellar...hmmm......
well the verdigris is kinda the obvious choice for such structures i think... by the way... i knew a how to to achive that but it is somehow lost to me... you have a good idea as to get that effect done? my two tower cupolas are ment to be done that way too...
LDD... i will take pics later on... maybe i get to it monday evening... i do own at least 20 nightgoblins fully assembled and if i am right even primed... also if you are intersted spider riders...

Thanks Vik that would be cool but I just want the heads to be honest, I saw this cool conversion for building chaos dwarf Gnomes …… if that makes sense but I need the heads to do it .
I really like the apc look, and like you said I think it would look good with some arbites.. where did you get this picture if there is a kit out there selling this I want one.. for my guardsmen.. cause scew you space marines!

I totally forgot about that link. Checked it out today, wicked cool stuff, some of it is $ pricey $ but look worth it. I've bookmarked it for future ref. Right now I am so buried in terrain projects I won't convert an other regular miniature for many months.
Give me a break Vic I am having a nightmare a new fitted toilet and basins in the down stairs and en-suit, 5 new leaks I am pulling my hair out got them sorted and now have found out that the water pressure is to high for the taps we got
just teasing you old friend! though all this sounds like you are living in a Disaster... i cross my fingers for better times for you sooner than later!!!
Well, sorry to disappoint I am slowly working on a couple of things very early stages plus going through my bits box and trying to work out what I want and need
I think you will like my current project it has a Mad Max vibe with wasteland zombie hunters feel, the good thing about it is I get to use just about everything I own with it
I have also been looking back at my started UFO, I am working out what parts I need to use for the landing gear all will make sense soonish.
Don't worry guys all is coming on slowly, the kitchen has been a real arse, then my sisters boyfriend a so called plumber made matters worse with fitting some toilets and a couple of sinks don't ask.
But hey ho life is there to challenge us and our sanity
I have some great idea's but the man cave is only half way sorted, I have made a small area to work so some progress is possible
Don't worry Dave I will be back to it shortly, I came across that base you made me I have a plan for that now as well concerning Apoc
LOL... i am not threatening... only mentioning stuff... seems to me... you can´t threatening by mentioning stuff... stands to reason... mentioning doesn´t hurt... people hurt
well... there is a restaurant here in berlin where you actually sit on actual toilets... tho they don´t function... its just a setup for the lulz... so i kind of was expecting you to hop on the band wagon here

Cool just got to find the dam camera, don't forget some stuff will be in early work stages or just in their original state ready for converting.
It really will be a case of showing pieces and giving you my general idea, then you can give me some feedback as wether yes it works or no it don't ,or even yes but have you thought or erm maybe try this or how a bouts or have you got a, well you see what I mean
I will start by giving you a break down of the units/gangs I am looking at making for this project, and a little fluff to explain why and where this is heading maybe one day make a versatile game from this LOL
We will start with the basics after stripping the planet of resources and over population of the planet world war broke out, fighting for the remaining resources of earth and financial control, every nation turned to extreme measures to succeed.
This lead to mass bio warfare, environmental pollution and nuclear war, the result of this was catastrophic this caused vast waste lands to be born, water shortage, environmental destabilisation, nuclear winters, mass war and terrorism, food shortages, and finally mutation and the birth of the infection.
Although governments tried to maintain control and rebuild anarchy broke out, governments were dissolved and the military took control of what was left although they were stretched due to the lack of resources available.
Nations fell and chaos engulfed the world, seas receded the world became a mass of barren land continents became one, this created a new order groups fighting to dominate and control others wanting to create a new democracy and cure or at least rid the world of the infection.
Small societies lead by military leaders began to surface providing a safe life behind walled compounds with controlled environments , others created new cities and new governments but within their own walls life began to resemble something of the past .
However between these safe havens lies the dust lands uninhabited masses where nothing grows or lives, or does it ?
Some claim to have seen gangs living on the outskirts of the new societies, choosing to reside out side the controlled cities and to wreak havoc upon those who venture out side the safety of there walls.
These are made up of human misfits, drug users, religious fanatics the outcasts of nations, these live a life of no rules but their own no control they are lead by those feared the most with no respect for life or those wishing to retain it.
They are only fuelled by abuse, destruction, chemicals high, torment, torture and mass murder, they survive only from taken what they want when they want and by whatever means.
As you venture further into the uninhabitable lands we find other life among us, known as the children of Bio war "Mutants" mans miss creation, defects born from genetical corruption varying in the slight to the extreme.
Mutants covers a vast range of genetical anemones and forms of mutation, although many have been seen and recorded ( and used for experimental investigation ) the total amount of mutants and the extent of their mutations is unknown.
Finally the last of the forms of life left to roam this world although life is something these creatures don't posses, "The Infected" the final damnation to inhabit the earth.
Some religious groups say this is the wrath god that he raised the dead to take vengeance upon us, some people think it is the cause of pollution or a bacterial virus.
The truth be told no one actually knows what this is, some believe it is a mutated Virus others think it some kind of more evolved mutation.
One thing the medical profession and Bio specialist agree is that the Infected seem to be in form dead like state, there internal organs work in a restricted state and their bodies seem to be in a degree of decay.
They seem to survive by feeding on human flesh and blood and are driven by an intense rage and need to feed, although limited brain functions their drive to feed gives them an erratic and uncontrollable sense of power and strength.
We have also noticed a new species of infected that seem to be evolving, they seem to have increased power and movement and more brain function along with a knowledge to learn and adapt.
However these have been few in numbers and only in the deeps of the dust lands, all though their have been sightings of them moving close to the societies boundaries but not confirmed.
The Infected hold the biggest threat to survival rate with in these lands, new cases of attacks and infection spreading daily even with the on going battle fort by man.
Will man survive, who will prevail.
So thats the fluff
Now for the gang breakdowns :
HIOU-Hazardous Infection Outbreak Unit :
These were the first line of defence against the Infection, made up of the new societies Police Force their job to capture, quarantine the infected and dispose.
These units sustained high mortality rates mainly due to poor organisation and lack of training, this was later remedied by giving the unit special training and the enrolment of ex military special forces unit leader.
Also each unit was assigned a military Biochemist that accompanied the team on all duties, their job is to record any contact with the infected take samples and to deal with the disposal and make sure all procedures are followed.
Spec Ops :
These are the best the military has to offer in the new world, made up of the best military specialist from around the world combining all techniques, technology and weaponry.
These guys have the best training and arsenal to hand including highly armoured tactical off road vehicles, their sole purpose is to defend the cities and there resources from any invader.
On top of this they are trained in Bio warfare and hold a vast knowledge of the infected and mutants, this unit is the decision makers of the cities any protocol or action has to be authorised by them first and last.
Also known as the gate keepers.
I like It, but It's missing that, I don't know how to explain this, that Xfactor (I don't mean singers all alike on a stage).
It's missing that touch of originality, It's very like Fall Out New Vegas in a lot of things.
It's not a bad thing, but I think that You can do better with our help
Well not bad considering I have never played Fallout though There will be plenty of rivets how could there not be LOL
To be honest I was only going to write a break down of gangs, then I started to write and got a bit carried away ok it aint Shakespeare but it gives you an idea of the direction I am going.
I will add more break downs of the gangs as I go but I cant be arse at the moment, these breakdowns are to explain the minis I will be constructing shortly and their look.
But please feel free to give feedback good or bad, as to help me develop this further
well the first thing i noticed while reading... your writing has a nice rhythm...no pun intended here...
i am feeling not really a FO vibe here... more like Tank Girl or mad max with the odd bit of 24 hours later thrown in...
i think you are onto something cool here... but with the fluff and all and the two gang descriptions i am still not sure what you are aiming for?
your true aim needs to be revealed... is it a bit of a game with the ring of necromunda you are going for? or are you more trying to work yourself towards something like a tabletop version of a first person shooter game "like" FO?
that is the main stuff you need to point out... other than that i am enjoying everything so far... so don´t hesitate to drop more onto our screens

Thanks Vik you were the one I expected to rip it apart LOL
To be honest I was trying to form a reason to build all the models I want, but some how keeping a connection between them as for the story it wrote it self to be honest
I was just going to write backgrounds to units, all of a sudden this little background story jumped into my head which to be fare has been stolen from several films, books and comics influence.
Good call on tank girl only watched that about a month ago makes sense where that creeped up from, to be honest there are only so many ways you can create a back ground for this type of world scenario.
Once I have some more time and idea's it will progress, first up will be more gangers then the mutants, last but no way least THE INFECTED !!!!!!
It's sourcing the models at the moment I am trying to work with models I own (plus make use of the stuff I have collected ) that way I get you off my back about building and making stuff , I prove to the misses that I am using the stuff , last but not least I make something (I hope) call looking
They seem to survive by feeding on human flesh and blood and are driven by an intense rage and need to feed, although limited brain functions their drive to feed gives them an erratic and uncontrollable sense of power and strength.
*SCREAMS MORE* ... tis scary
Nice to hear the idea behind characters though, gives them a bit more meat xxx
well... i have a thing going on for post apocalyptic settings... to i know many games and lots of movies about that genre... throw in the odd "infected"/zombie... and it will 9 out of ten always turn up cool...
we have little ideas about what YOU specifically own... you are on most news and rumors threads here on dakka^^ and it seems you have a gigantic suply of bitz to play with... so we are on a loss here
i think after you told us about the more "good guys" it is now high time to show us about the ruthless... the gangs that scour the badlands... there is high potential...
will you use orky stuff for mutants? i think that would be a good way to get different looking models done... mixing human and ork body parts could also produce quite some cool looking misfits... like that poor sod of mad max blaster...

Yes to be fair if it is guard related I will by it LOL no I have a little stash we aint talking Dave level here by any stretch of the imagination but a fare few things to work from
What my plan is to provide corresponding models to the gangs description, then listen to feedback and idea's and continue on to the next gang.
I will be adding a couple more gangs back grounds soon, but I don't want to go to far in front and loose interest this way i have background for 4 groups at a time, allowing me a continues work flow but keeping my interest at the same time.
Ork parts will be used for some mutations also chaos spawns will come into play, however the mutations will be varied from the mildest looking to the in your face concepts however all mutants have one thing in common but we will save that for a later date
The other thing is some gangs will be issued with vehicles of which will be varying sizes and descriptions, although I cant see anything larger than tanks to be included I like the idea of small fast attack vehicles as the cities provide the sanctuary and protection.
As for the gangers of the outer bounds regions they use a crude self produced fuel, while volatile it is also limited, for this reason most gangs only poses a small hold of vehicles but what they have they use to their best ability.
I don't know if mutants will be provided with vehicles of the mechanical type, but I do think they will be issued with a wind ground based vehicle
I hope that helps some
Also an ogre will be around here somewhere as well
The mutants could use mutated animals as vehicles as welll.
I see them riding a giant lizard with horns that run fast as a motorbike or the rino looking ani.mals of the ogre....
Just my two cents.

That is a thought I did kind of have an idea like this but due to an issue with the mutated it would have not worked, but using the idea that the wildlife that has survived have a form of mutation might work
Good idea might have to work with that at a later date, as the muties will be one of the last groups to go into production, only because they will incur me spending money
But keep the idea's coming all will be logged for future thought, I can see we are edging into Star Wars universe now next you will be mentioning Dewbacks LOL OWWWW thats and idea
I should explain that there will be more than 1 group of mutants, as I see it the mutants will be of varying degrees of mutation and derive from different backgrounds.
Also some mutants will how should we say have a more human appearance as others will take on a more monstrous form.
But you got me thinking now
Also if you have any ideas of bitz or manufacturers for the mutie parts feel free to let me know or post pics
ha... well firstly... you could also add kroot parts in the mix too...
i see it that not only humans turned mutie is a possibility... you could always go the other route and say you have muties from animals... dogs or lizards or bug-like stuff...giant cockroaches...
as for the tank idea... i think in the post apocalyptic setting there will be a chronic shortage of gas... thus i think the big thirsty vehicles are a no go...... i see more speedy buggies in various builds... and for the lulz a gas truck... like in mad max...like a driving fortress...many possibilities...
and as for the muties riding in back of other lifeforms... what about riding on other bipeds? again like master and blaster???
Vik made me think about the fuel shortage, I agree with that to a certain point.
I think that the little areas where infected waters and oil rigs are still in place can be used to power some vehicles, the main problem is that they are in the wastelands and maybe the "oasis" where muties and alike set their "villages".
In the new city areas I see an high degree of fast sun powered or nuclear powered vehicles that are useful for raids, but with a short time of autonomy.
Hey guys read the fluff I did mention fuel shortage,I also mentioned small light armoured off road vehicles.
If you had read the fluff propaly you would have noticed the reference to a crude based home made fuel used by the out-bounders
Also I am thinking land sailed vehicles due to the high wind and common storms, as for the largest vehicle would be a tank that would belong to the cities as they have more resources available to them.
But they would still be in very limited numbers and only used for close combat, after all as we mentioned the fuel ain't there.
I like the solar power idea but I feel most of my gangers don't have this knowledge available to them, however I can see a more intelligent gang evolving more knowledgeable and equipped. so that is now logged.
At the moment I don't want the mutations to deter to much from the human form, so Kroots are a bit of no go at the moment maybe if this progresses further I might consider it later.
Master blaster idea is all ready in there it's a classic touch that I can't even think about leaving out, hence the mention of the ogre earlier post
Have to say love the ideas and support keep it coming guys much appreciated, mind you vik scenery will have to wait for a while LOL
