Landboat...Landship....
Doesn't that depend on how many masts the vehicle has? I think 3 masts or more denotes ship...if the same holds true for the land variant, I do not know.

I do know awesome though! And the Plastic Card work on the prow so far is awesome!

The only down side is answering all this bare with me

The top one was a scratch build except a few pieces GW and blood and skulls awesome tracks and some wheels (big thanks there)

Yes, the grot / goblin is a pilot he was to go in the plane I grotted up, but after a bit of detail added he would not fit in

The land boat tank boat or whatever is the start of my own grot mega tank, I loved the FW one but I wanted something a bit more classic ship feel, so the basis is going to be a pirate ship in metal on tracks with a few twist's.

I may need some help with things on this, so get you're thinking caps on chaps, and I will be using the maxmini grot pirate heads for my crew (with bodies of course) as they are friggin brilliant.


Incase any one is wondering as no one has mentioned the little thing with yes ZINGE INDUSTRIES excellent wheel on it is the start of a side car for my ork bike squad (yet to build) and it needs more rivets

I will update soon but I need to check everyone else to make sure they are pulling their finger out now, instead of telling me to pull mine out.

as for the landship...first question is...are you up to do a sketch of what you might want to go for a look?

what i can come up is you need to think about turrets... and maybe some ramps and such things...and a ball on a chain...really i think monkeytroll should be answering this...he is da man for such ideas^^

Well, to be honest that was my first real try at scratch building, it turned out not to shabby I think

As for the ship if you imagine a pirate ship, well I want that kind of look to it the old galleon (don't think about masts yet ) however I need this in metal plus land tank form.

So the issue I have is layout, where does the engine go, exhausts, crew quartos, weapon layout ect … I will have masts of sort as I want to do something that will answer the fuel problem …… and I want a crows nest for sure.. …
I like the idea of turrets as i have considered these for a couple of options, Ramps I am not sure as to what you mean or ball and chain can you elaborate on that please ...

Drawing a picture aint my strong point, tried it on this project to start and the idea was completely wrong (ended up drawing a cross between a battle ship and a tanker ) so that will be no, I find it best just to cut glue and see where it takes you..,,

First of all You should finish the railings till the back at the same height of the front and in the back, like in every pirate ship a higher platform with the ship commander that shout orders.
I would put the dakka out of the sides, like cannon in a pirate ship as well!

I was thinking of something similar with the Dakka out of the sides, hatches with shooters possibly along those lines.
The over all look will be based around a traditional Galleon, but turned on its arse, after all its grots.
There will be a higher level at the back with two half towers on the back corners, lower down will be the engine and exhausts.
I am thinking one mast in the middle, with crows nest and power source will, explain that later not 100% sure how this will work.
I am wondering if I should add a grot cannon on the front deck, what do you think on that ?

Well thats the plan at the moment, just got some news that maxmini have released their bike wheels for sale, YAY! means I can start scratch building my Ork choppers

Don't worry about your camera or set up, I use a couple blank sheets of printer paper taped to the sides of carboard boxes and a desk lamp pointing straight down on top of them. My camera is my cel phone's digital camera without a flash, I get in real close and have noticed that the camera picks up light differently if I angle the phone differently. I take a ridiculous amount of images of the same models and then I delete the blurry ones and upload the better ones.

i know that is just a mere sideproject... and it is mostly fun to jump to new ideas^^ kinda dakka tradition... as dave.,.. he always gets jumpy whenever peeps urge him to make lots of molds of cool stuff he did^^...

i twisted the floral wire with my drill...just put three or more wires inside the drillholder screw tight and bind the other point of the wire to a door handle or something similar...or heck a vice^^ and then just drill^^... after a few moents you have a thicker and good looking big wire...

did that a coupla times...

i twisted the floral wire with my drill...just put three or more wires inside the drillholder screw tight and bind the other point of the wire to a door handle or something similar...or heck a vice^^ and then just drill^^... after a few moents you have a thicker and good looking big wire...

Vik here is the shotgun walk through :

First you need the arm holding the crossbow from the Empire detachment box set.

Next remove the bow section from the main part of the crossbow, the parts that over hang.

Now you need to trim the front of the crossbow down, cut roughly where the under belly starts to curve up, this will be the belly of the shotgun.

Now you have to trim the top section, roughly slice a section out so it stops above the fingers and before the small raised section on the top of the crossbow.

Now take a good flat modelling file to get an even surface, making sure not to file away any of the fingers holding the crossbow, this is your level guide and the detail.
If you go past them bin it and start again, now file the end round so you have a realistic looking belly for you shotgun.

Now it is starting to take shape, simply add two pieces of plastic rod as barrels, you can use hexagonal for more ornate or antique look.

Then once you have the desired look a little greens stuff to cover any holes or for a little design.
If you want the same look as mine you need to use the barrels from the Empire Pistolers .


Well thats it done hope that helps, if your stuck just let me know.

Vik just been looking at my General of " The Lost Legion "

I think I remember the parts now. So here is the list : torso and legs are an old set of Col gravis Resin Pretorian cavalry Guard, he made a while ago I have a load nocking around, the head was as mentioned correctly earlier FW veteran Guard head, the pointing arm was from the Cadian Guard HQ set (with shoulder pad cut off ) the other arm was from the tank sprue and so was the bino's he is holding.

Other than that was GS braiding on his shoulders, also very fine picture wire for ceremonial braiding hang from his chest.

The horse was from the Empire Pistoliers range but 2 horses converted to get the stance, also GS for the stringy edging at the back end, picture wire for braiding again as well and brass etched eagle at the front.

I think that covers all that

Got a couple of days of this week so fingers crossed will get some work done, having what I like to call a "Dave work week" fething arse hole bosses pushing us , figure this one out we have had a very successful week got the cost below the target (profit margined is on the up) but we are not pulling our weight

We have done better than the other 2 shifts (which have managers ) with less staff and more productivity …….. But the problem is we have no shift manager as ours left in January and has not been replaced, so morning shift managers are overseeing ha ha our shift.

Get the impression some managers are worried about there jobs

oh and i have to say... the german version of mel brooks is quite good... they did a fairly good one with all his movies... tho i have to say... i expect a lot of yiddish in his movies in the original version...that one wasn´t used in german...

There was one where Mel and his friends were supposed to do a mission as they were theater types, and Mel was dressed as Hitler as he was an exact spitting image for the movie, Mel played the Jewish actor who looked like Hitler attempting to escape, AND Hitler the confusion that occurred was awesome!
