Your turn around time and the final product are both excellent. A small production run funded by interested individuals is exactly the type of project I'm glad Kickstarter worked for.
Looking forward to seeing the tank in person.

Congrats!
I know there was some confusion last time around, but in the future you can make a dedicated Kickstarter thread in News & Rumors (just don't bump your regular thread until the campaign is over). At the minimum, editing the Kickstarter link into the first post of whatever thread you decide to use will help get it more exposure.
Looks like this did well and is manageable to fulfill, just like the last one. Well done

It's possible to clean, prep and build the Rhebok in an hour I'd say.
I still have not found the time to paint it though :(
It speaks of my own (lack of) skill, talent and (un)willingness to grind/saw resin to get stuff like this to fit together. Well, that and the unassembled stuff that I already have that fits the same boat. I just know realistically speaking, they'd never get built if I bought some - which is a shame since they really do look great (especially the StuG).

Also of note, these look like some of his best sculpts and casts yet. Here's a shot of everything unpainted.
The style still has that Ramshackle look, but the lines are cleaner than some early Ramshackle stuff. I think that anyone who might have assumed that the rough Post- apoc style of many of Ramshackle vehicles was a cover for not being able to do clean lined models and casts can see now that is not the case.

Thanks Eilif. To be honest, I find the clean lines a bit more boring to make. I prefer the bashed and beaten look, I like the textures, but the Customer is King, and I get better feedback by doing less work texturing the surfaces!

I should point out that the AA gun is already available on its own or with a trailer mount:

This great, I've been waiting for it. Are there and plans/possibility of selling each section as it's own bundle, I know you can buy the components separately, but it generally works out more expensive to do so (as in buying all the bits to make a Quad gun on trailer is more expensive than just buying the 'Anti-Air Cannon' set). I only ask as I'm thinking of getting a few.
Just a query, thanks.

Post by: Ramshackle_Curtis
In the images with the rulers, I have put the model as close as I could to the shoulder or arm of the robot. It does give a good size reading, except that the ruler is touching the floor. This means that the base thickness is added to the height measurement. This is about 2mm, so the models range from the Daoist Drone being about 42mm tall, and Trevor being 55mm to the top of the exhaust pipes.

I put some money in on this last night. I'm curious if the claw arm can be used for either arm, or if it can only be mounted to one side?

Post by: Ramshackle_Curtis
There is a separate peg for the claw arm that works as the shoulder joint. the claw is symmetrical, and you can then glue the peg on either side and so mount the arms whichever way you want, or two on the same bot.
I also have another robot that I am working on to use the dog style legs. I hope to get it done for this campaign.

Pretty interesting robots.
A general question: Would it be possible to at least have the option on the webpage to view more than 10 objects per page. It's very much a pet peeve of mine to have to constantly change pages when browsing through a model line.
Also, the thumbnails in the shop are so small that they sometimes serve no purpose since it's impossible to discern what's in the picture.

I guess that was a bit obscure if you're not following the development.
It was made for a scenario based on a short (short) story in the original Chapter Approved book and the sculptor specifically said he was going for the kitbashed traditional sci fi look of Rogue Trader rather than the flying box with rivets seen in later fliers.
Blog entry here
http://www.warfactory.co.uk/
As it happens I scanned the story for a retro review.
So it was really exciting to see this go from a 100-word (or so) story in CA to a full game with custom terrain and vehicles.

A 'thopter eh? Very cool story and model. I think folks don't give Dune enough credit as being a major source of inspiration for 40k. I recently read through most of the series again and was blown away at the number of concepts and ideas lifted strait from the pages and deposited into the 40k universe.
518
Post by: Kid_Kyoto
Yeah, I would rank Dune as the most important influence on 40k, sort of like Lord of the Rings for Fantasy (RIP).
There's a lot in 40k that's not from Dune, but the DNA is clearly there. Navigators are probably the most egregious borrow, almost as bad as Arbites really.
3989
Post by: Padre
I think the Terminators...cough, sorry...Necrons might rank prettty highly as well there, as well as the Colonial Marines, Xenomorphs and Heinlein's "Starship Troopers"

Post by: Ian Sturrock
I think that 2000AD as a whole is probably a bigger influence than Dune, though Dune is probably bigger than any individual story, even Nemesis the Warlock.
Moorcock is obviously an influence, but at least somewhat remediated by the time you get to 40K -- he was probably a bigger influence on Fantasy than on 40K, but Fantasy of course influenced 40K in turn. Though there are interviews with early GW/Citadel creatives who explicitly cited Moorcock, I suspect that RuneQuest also influenced that aspect of Fantasy (and thus, to some extent, 40K). RuneQuest was a big seller for GW in the early to mid 80s, and featured in WD quite a lot, so most of GWs writers will have been very familiar with it. It has its own version of Chaos, of course, very much focused on the Broo (proto-Beastmen).
45341
Post by: Dr Mathias
That ornithopter is pretty cool. I like it, I'll probably snag it for my Dune-esque figures by Akula.
I personally think Dune is a significant inspiration for 40K, but Nemesis the Warlock takes the cake. It provides the fundamentals for the entire future-gothic undying emperor alien hating culture.

I like how Ramshackle has a special vibe to it, (Been waiting to have the nerve to order the vehicles for my IG.

Post by: Ramshackle_Curtis
I must say that I didnt make the Ornithopter, its made by an Oldhammer buddy. I did the wings though as he ran out of time to get his "metal" wings made so I plonked on the printed ones and painted up the first cast as payment for letting me sell the model. There are some shots of his idea on his blog.
If anyone wants this model please email me!
As for warhammer, especially 40k, are there actually ANY original ideas in it? I was talking to Tony Hough recently, and he openly admitted that the look of chaos marines were spawned by saying "hey, lets mix Geiger with space marines". But as they say, no act of genius is generated in a vacuum. They are always an amalgam of previous ideas.

At what point does Intergalactic Biplane became an x-wing?
At what point does Scrap Metal Artillery Truck become an Ork Spleen Ripper (or whatever it was called).
It's the difference between photocopying Lord of the Rings (illegal), writing your own fantasy book (legal) and writing a fantasy book about a group of midgets going to throw a ring into a volcano (grey).
Generally in the U.S. courts are very permissive, unless you're clearly using a character from another work, or literally recasting someone else's sculpt they're unlikely to find a copyright infringement.
Inspiration has to come from somewhere after all.

Right, now we've had the seemingly obligatory "IP Rant" that seems to keep cropping up these days...could we maybe go back to talking about Ramshackle's releases?
Personally, love the Boomwagon, and will be ordering one post Xmas...

I'm interested in the jetbike, though worried it'll turn out to be priced like Maxmini and everybody else's £10 per bike (and therefore somewhat unaffordable for large squads).

Sounds interesting. Do you have the component pictures as well like you do with most stuff? My mind is already trying to come up with some combinations. Also, guys.. come on.. it wasn't an IP rant.. once I realized it wasn't a recast I backed off.. so srsly get off my nuts. I was one of the artists in the Chapterhouse case, I'm all about freedom with IP. Don't know how many ways I can spell that out. EDIT: I just saw some of the other replies.. I agree on the pricing. Ramshackle is pretty good about pricing (it's why they use the cat pee smelling resin). I'm looking at Star Wars type stuff as well as something bigger where a few of the components could be repurposed to make a grav APC.. I believe the downed "speeder" is their helicopter model.

Its the Radcopter I make. I dropped the model 2 meters and broke it, so now its terrain:

The bit about fantasy dwarves hitching a ride was sort of there to help out with the intent. I have so many AoBR Deffkoptas I'm set for a long time but I was also looking out for others who might want to stay closer to the fluff than the codex entry. I forgot for a moment that your resin is even more brittle than typical resin so yeah.. it's not going to work.

Hmm, the shop should be working now. Well, onto the new release
Mini Gangs is the latest release from Ramshackle Games, and Im doing a Kickstarter project for it:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/179741323/mini-gangs-skirmish-game
I have been mulling this game over for many years now. Its a game for people who want a simple system to play what they want. Its got three ways to play.
The first is called Gateway, and is for kids or beginners to model gaming.
The second, Casual, is for people who want to have a few quick games to pass an evening. Its a great club game, its multi player and each person only needs four figures to play. Its also simple so its easier to get other gamers playing! Gangs get randomly dealt cards which represent equipment, skills etc, which makes it fast to play with no paperwork.
The third is called Hardcore, and is a full points system for designing whatever force you want to use. Its still simple and straight forward, but open to do what you like with it.
The KS also has 3 gangs of figures to go with it. The figures are cast in high quality polyurethane resin, so a departure from the usual polyester resin I use. You can see this has let me be alot more dynamic with my poses and I think these are the best figures I have made so far.

Post by: Ramshackle_Curtis
Mini Gangs has three ways to play, Gateway, Casual and Hardcore. The first, Gateway, is just that, a way into our hobby. I originally designed it to play as a kids game, but have since found that it is a good way to introduce new players to model gaming. You only need four figures each, a tabletop, one dice, a ruler and some scenery.
I know alot of parents who game and want a way to get their kids to play. I myself have been playing this with my 6 year old. He loves it and endlessly hassles me to play, although Im finding it hard to get him to make or paint a gang (his little brother is the creative one).
So, if you fancy some easy gaming with your kids, or want to get your non-gaming significant other to play, then please give Mini Gangs a try out. Its free.
ITS FREE! I have put up a pdf on Scribd and SaberCat, plus both pages as .jpgs on Imigur(pdfs have text based type, the jpg flattens the text into pixels). The images are designed to be printed onto two sides of an A3 sheet. I will be getting these printed up as part of the Kicksaterter to, so come and back that if you want a hard copy .

I always offer miscasts on froums. THey are ideal for doing nurgle stuff with Rust and bubbles here we come! I have a big box of miscast Rhebok parts and I can throw in some guns and stuff.
I usually charge £7.50 per KG for miscasts. This covers the cost of the resin, packaging and my time to select and pack it. On top of this is postage, which is about £5 to £10 per kg depending on where you like.
Here is an image from the blog Crucium Giger. Its made from about 500g of miscasts. Having seen your post above Im pretty certain its a proxy!

I'm drowning in miniatures (still have a couple dozen dwarf bikers to paint...), especially post- apoc minis but I liked Nuclear Renaissance alot (bought both printed rulebooks) so I'm in for the digital bundle. I'm sure it will be $8 well spent!
Best of luck with the rest of the kickstarter.

Also by popular demand I have added the Grenade Marker tokens to the project. Mini Gangs casual and Hardcore add grenades to the game. When a model throws a grenade, one of the grenade markers is placed. Each grenade type has a radius of effect, which is measured from the grenade in the middle of the token.
A set of 4 grenade tokens can be added to your chosen reward by increasing your pledge amount by £3.

I added a new gang to the Mini Gangs Kickstarter. They are called the Scarecrows and are made from the usual Ramshackle polyester resin. Please come and back the project!

This gang will be added free of charge to every pledge (except the digital reward).

I love these models, but can't find anything I'm looking for. Last time I was there, there were heavy weapons that I was going to get for my raumjager. Basically it was an autocannon and a separate tracked bottom. I needed 4 of them, but can't find them now.

Sad to say, but I think 3D printing is what is going to kill companies like this. The models are equivalent to basic 3D prints, but more expensive and then you have to factor in shipping and wait times. The style really is great for many games, but as I said, 3D printing provides the same basic items at much cheaper prices.

No it does not. It provides you with a file which is not the same thing as a miniature.

I'd disagree that 3d printing is less expensive for the consumer or more available. Filament is easy, but resin printing is still a bit out of reach for most consumers. Additionally, purchasing resin prints of figures and vehicles generally ends up being more expensive than buying resin models from Ramshackle.
However, I do still agree that 3d printing is the big challenge for companies like these. 3d printing allows for much faster progression from concept to production, a faster inflow of new products and the actual printing time keeps getting faster.
Still, a competent caster like Ramshackle can -at least for now- turn out casts much faster than a 3d printer (or even several printers) if the customer base is there....

For many folks it does. Once you invest the time and money into getting set up to 3d print, the cost of files and raw materials is significantly cheaper than purchasing physical casts from small companies.
Yes there are still many lobbyists who do not 3d print themselves, but it's easy to find folks selling 3d prints for cheaper than traditional manufacturing techniques can produce.
Both of the above situations eat into the available market small companies like Ramshackle need to survive.

Ramshackle minis are VERY cheap. I have bought 3D prints from Only Games and We Print Miniatures, lately, and I don't think I've ever paid less there than for comparable sized minis from Ramshackle, even buying when the other stores have like a 30% discount or something.
