Really love the look of this force! The paint scheme is looking great!! Just what springs to mind with the Carcharadons!! I always thought it would be nice to have obsidian black eye lenses on this chapter.... a real nod to a great white really...... but in reality it hink it might look bland and dull.... the colours you have used certainly stand out!

I'll agree the purple skin looks great, a new take i havent seen yet. And your work with greys and shading is awesome! Well done.

Bases are easy first "PRIME!!!!!" grey and use the winter grit from GW *Crosses Self then when dry "PRIME!!!!!" white

Its still a game of dis-belief. I'd do the weapons black and highlight your grey color. Add some gunmetal to the barrels ect and add some red or blue to the Tau symbol on the gun.. things like that.

Nothing wrong with your version. I'm just not into ultra -realism.

How about a watered down black ink wash?

I'm with sl, I like what you're doing but needs sharper contrasts maybe? possibly even take up the highlights, especially on the flesh. nice scheme though!

As i was moving a shelving unit by myself my legs gave way and the head on my marine medic went someplace other....

I spent some time looking for it so now im going to use a head from my Ravenwing box as replacement.

Cracks in the back of the knees and fisures in the cartalidge so in im fracked.

As for the tau...I like the fluffy idea to make a SPEC ops version of these... But atm I am not thinking you nailed the look down good. Don't get me wrong, they do look good, but the idea of SPEC ops still isn't pressed on me hard enough...tho I can't say what really would be needed...maybe a very subtle camo? Just black stripes???...and more details picked out too!

As for the Tau. I like the spec ops look , but in a game of makebelieve I think you can pick out a few details a get away with some bolder colors. green, red or blue ( scopes, switches, cables ect )

All said it's your look and do them how you want them to look. I think if your happy with them it's all good for me!

If it wasn't for the red dot on the front of the skimmer I'd say put it on a solid white background, take a picture of it and send it to GW. Tell them you free handed the drawing and want to know I they are hiring. That is a beautiful work of art, looks like a study of shading in charcoal.

That looks very nice Dee. Little hard to see what's going on in the first shot because of the back-lighting, but the second one is pretty clear. Looks like you've got a little bit of a two-tone thing going on, yes?

Nice job on the stacks. You might consider some blue then purple wash near the ends... make them look like they've gotten hot and the temper is starting to come out of them.

They are saving money by buying smaller boxes, its a screw up by the purchasing department that the gaming community hasn't figure out yet. GW has been melting down the "extra" five guys that could fit into the box and recycling them back into the model mix though as not to waste materials .

Yeah that sounds about right ...

Got the flamer guy and squad leader done just need to put the rocket launcher guy together and put him on a resin base that i got from dark art.

Well, ask yourself how often you play. If you want a game, pick up the rules then.

Also, who do you play with? If you have regular opponents, what are their thoughts? Unless you're playing pick-up games at a GW, nothing to stop you continuing with whatever edition you want to play.
This advice coming from a non-player to be fair I know if I still played I'd probably choose original RT or possibly 4th (I think that was the one with IG doctrines, chapter traits and nid mutations, yeah?)

As a non-player I haven't taken much notice of the details of the change yet, but would there be big changes to stuff like kill-team?

Have not had one game of 6th

I tried a few times giving up 40k and playing something else but found I can't leave it alone. I started at a young age and it seems to be engraved in me.

I've been in for Rouge Trader, Second, Fifth, Sixith and just ordered Seventh.

If it's a money thing wait and see how much the box rules go for when DV gets 're-packaged. You don't Need the rules to enjoy the painting side of the hobby.

I need 1 more Storm Raven for the Deathwatch squad and I have noidea whats next poss guard as chapter serfs or not.

I find painting very relaxing and dont think I could be without it, helps me get away from real life.

Yeah, just concentrate on the painting and modelling side for now if you've not been playing much. If you're not careful they'll have brought out 8th Edition before you get a game (coming September 2015 I heard )

Keep an eye out for FAQs to keep your codex current, and as Giraffe says, look for the mini-rulebook if they do another starter kit.

Having said all that, I still think that I'll end up getting 7th just beause they've cunningly added n the separate art and fluff books.....my only hope is that the art book is all studio miniatures rather than minis and art - that might stay my hand for a while....

I took out gaunts routed another unit and the warlord.

Today I finishd putting together my Nomads from Infinity Operation Icestorm, also some are primed.

Picked up.a new collet, a twist bit, wire and black from two hobby shops.

Soon to start on the other set from Operation Icestorm, need to ink / wash the knight.

And finished the day doing Star Trek Online.

Those online games can really eat up ones time.

I do two missions a day on the star trek, just finnished priming the Icestorm minis.

The World Eaters picked up a distress call from the Blood Angels.

They answered the call and swiftly helped dispatch the attackers. As thanks they were given a Baal Preditor without the upgrade.

Last weekend was my first run in with Rebel Scum it was a four player game.

Two Victory 1 Class Star destroyers

Two Victorty 2 Class Star destroyers

and quite a few Nebulon B and crusers.

Awesome.. A game I could eventually get into.

How does the game play? Are the rules easy to get into.

As a rule I am not a fan of pre-paints but those Star Destroyers look awesome.
