Hi guys, a question! does anybody know a good paint scheme for painting rubber tires?

Road to Armies on Parade Part 2: The Orks/ Autism Awareness Project @ 2014/01/28 00:13:40

Post by: Camkierhi

Personally I am not very good, but paint mine abaddon black and dry brush browns through bone for dusty effect. Like I say though I am not good.

I believe there are actual tyre paints in some ranges!

Nice work going on in here! Cam pointed me to you, said you needed some help with tires?

I use this stuff..Panzer Aces Dark Rubber

I know it just looks grey, but it isn't. I'm not sure what colors it has, maybe green? I dunno. It's a magic tire color I just drybrush it over black.
Spoiler:

For the dried dirt effect, I just mixed up some dry dirt pigment powders into a bit of water and slather it on, let it dry, and then seal it with Future Floor Wax or your favorite clear coat.
Hope this helps, keep up the great work!

hey cam!

the tires came out good, I picked up some mud and grass effect that I added.

I would have added picks up on Saturday but I lost my phone in the snow over... it’s not always sunny in Philadelphia

I really like how the Trukk is looking, I have always thought that it takes a lot of skill to paint "ORK-Y". Some people just messily slap some paint and say look it's an ork paint job. I have always thought that was a cop out

I prefer a crisp look on my orks. I know what you are talking about, I think that it is a style preference. I have seen some dirty ork paint jobs that look great.

Hey Cam

sorry for the lack of posting, this has been a stressful weeks/ months in trying to get anything worked on.

My work moved its main office to a no location so from December through February I have been burned out after work, its hard motivation when that is how you feel.

Monday my dad had a mild heart attack, not too serious but enough to have him in the hospital for invasive surgery.

I have my goal that are going to be done by May, but not as much as I would like. one burn out after another.

The Grot-rod will be one of the top priorities for this project though.

Really sorry to hear the news and I am sure I speak for everyone, wishing your Dad all the best.

Not worried about the rod, more important your mojo is working, we are here waiting patiently, no worries.

Please take care, and here's hoping everything works out.

I was going to wait until April for Autism Awareness month but since I have not posting in a while I though this would be a good change in pace

Below is the Donation from the T-Shirt sale and Raffle we had a few months ago.

The income of $150 US dollars I donated, thanks to you all, to the Organization of Autism Research.

Try hosting on Imageshack or something similar.

That's pretty much all I got. Might be cool to see one of the new kits show up. Maybe one of the artillery guns or a morkanought? Or something good and looted.

Didn’t they release a new codex since the start of this blog? I’m not that familiar with the army on parade thing (no local GW) but do you need to build to a certain point limit?

The new kits do look like a lot of fun, and the morkanought would be a good canvas to showcase the colors of your cause.

Pretty much the only requirement for armies on parade are 1 HQ and 2 units (of any type) on a 2x2 board. Fully painted and bases, both models and battle board

Thank you for checking out the blog. Welcome and hope that you enjoy

I like that you take the models to help children with autism. It's very respectable and such a great idea to do.

Taking a paint break today.

Got to thinking that I believe that once this project is over, after the stores armies on parade, that I will give the painted Orks away to some lucky kid who is new to the hobby.

What do you all think?

That could be cool. It might also end up in a bin in a few weeks if you don't pick a kid with an attention span that meets the mark. I'd say find a wargamer dad with a kid that is interested, but then the models might end up as his.

You could always auction or raffel it off, donate the profits. You don't have the captive audience, but the charity army at Adepticon raises a ton of money.

I say go for the charity auction/raffle angle!

Donate the proceeds to Autism Awareness or something similar?

I've got an autistic daughter, so anything that helps the cause is something I can get behind!
