OK, looks like it has potential, will watch this keenly to see it take shape. Here to hoping it doesn't end up in the bin!

So having had a cheeky win on eBay I finally took delivery of the warlord power fist and have a test fit on the haulage trailer, quite excited to be cracking on with this at the moment!!!! " the beast" is tickling along in the background but no major developments and but had to share this quick pic.

So not as easy as I first thought and I've only managed to assemble three fingers and the thumb along with the main part of the fist. Fingers still need 3rd section attaching and the wiring needs a bit of heat so it hangs down a bit, but it's coming one nicely and will be a perfect fit once finished

Just about a perfect fit, lucky boy. Nice fist as well, goes to show the scale well. I do really like the idea of this.

Love the idea of this you don't see enough pre war dioramas in 40k reflecting the logistics and behind the frontline life, just a couple of things will you be strapping the beast to the trailer and what kind of rigging will you be using if you are of course.

Just a thought about the cabling have you considered removing the original piece (carefully so if you wanted too later put it back) and then maybe use a GS Cable maker and create your own or even use something like Zinges industries bendable resin cable sets ?

I am just wondering even by heating the original cabling that you will get enough movement without it breaking or weakening it ?

Craneblade. My baneblade recovery tank conversion and other conversions and scratch builds. @ 2017/03/11 12:53:09

Post by: Alaricuk

Cheers dirty dog

Wish I'd checked in earlier that is an excellent idea for the cabling, I love zinge stuff. Luckily the hot and cold water method has worked with no damage to the original. Will be strapping if down with something and thinking of using good old chains for the job !!

Post by: lone dirty dog

Yes seems to have worked a treat the hot and cold method, enough sag especially with the cabling being quite thick after all it would have some strength and resistance.

As for the straping using chains is very 40k, the emperor would approve

And yes Zinges stuff is great the bendy cables are worth a look indeed

So construction complete and I've started the paint. Now I know that if its to look good it will take time, but it has taken me an hour to touch up all the edging, and that's on the side you won't see much of. Base coated all the main panels and will probably add some lighter shades to the centre of them tomorrow. Then weathering

Been tinkering with several things over the week so thought a quick update might be a good idea. Trying out new chain anchor points on the low boy trailer and have been trying to replicate the chain tensioner's which is quite fiddley. Also started to form the main part of the roof for my explorator and as the weather is absolutely glorious today, have pulled a few figures out the multitude of project boxes and got some under coat on them. Get told off for spraying in the house Hoping to have a pleasant evening painting with a pic heavy update later but here's the low boy for now

So having had a complete loss of interest and the feeling that I'm sat in a black hole of ideas since my last post, utilised the good weather yesterday and messed about with the base colour scheme on the Craneblade main body. Need to lighten the top panels a bit more I think but am pleased with the overall effect so far.

Cheer Ruglud,

That's a good thought!!! Have to add that to the growing list of to do projects. At the moment I'm trying ( and failing) to finish the kits I started already before moving on to another big build. With the craneblade and the Titan hauler nearing completion I've got the Crassus and Trojan + trailer to get going on again, and then maybe I can start something new. Problem there is I already have 2 projects in mind, this will make 3!!

yes i know only 3 at present, but this does not include straight kit builds. of which there are many

, I had a cull and sort out of the project list at Christmas!!( by cull i mean a splitting into 2 ) there's somethings i just don't have space for until we move house ( if ever) and i get my man cave space back.

At present i have a larger titan hauler project planned on paper, looking at being a dedicated vehicle rather than trailer.
working on ideas for terra forming/mining vehicle
and now a bridge layer is definitely on the cards, looks like i will be scratch building and casting my own baneblade chassis. as i need 4 i think now

problem is finding time these days to actually get anything done,

Been fairly busy again of late, started to undercoat the two aux cranes and then realised I had not built the crane stowage support for the boom crane. A little tinkering and trial and error and have something I'm happy with. Could benefit from maybe one more cross peice to the main chassis and still needs nut, bolt and chain details adding, but it will have to wait. Work is taking all my time at the moment, even my weekends but pays the bills and allows me to buy all the bits I need, so really shouldn't moan,

Well the flexi hoses were a complete fail so spent my weekend on a quick conversion project instead. Utilising a £2 kids tractor trailer as a basic model, have removed the wheels and added tracks, replaced the crude cast tanker hatch with parts left over from a Russ kit and scratch built a cat walk on top. The ladder on the rear is left over from my the baneblade conversion. Added an extra strap round the tank centre and then added some rivet detail. Probably won't get a chance to paint it till next weekend but here it is

So been a busy week, but did manage to squeeze an hour in yesterday while the sun was out to get the primer on the main body. been looking at it all week, trying to work out what was wrong as it just didn't look right, then someone on another forum posted I'd forgot the drawbar jack/landing gear for when it's detached. So 40mins of playing with plastic, and also shortened the draw bar as this too did not seem right and it's all looking much better.

Obviously it's where the tank was towed too close to some ruins and something put a crease in it .

Very nice little tank guy, for some reason he reminds me of wall-e.

Cheers guys,

But alas. No unfortunately it is indeed a mold line. Thought I'd got them all but missed that section. Little bit of neatening up required on birth models now the primer has made thinks stand out like a sore thumb. Think it will be a job for the weeeknd.

Love the tank-hauler- I'm a big robogear fan myself and recognized the chassis straightaway. The tank trailer itself has my full approval, as I'm very much in favor of finding $2 toys and converting them into something cool. You have an impressive array of skills!

I've been following the Craneblade saga for awhile now too- figured it was time to speak up; amazing detail work!

Cheers Meer Cat, comments appreciated,

Cam it's not that big a kit would take several of these to unstick a baneblade I reckon, I'll try and get a size comparison shot soon

And yes I agree about the magical reappearance of mold lines, pesky blighters.

On a more positive note managed to get the base colours down and the first weather wash applied to both vehicles. Tomorrow nights usually my big modelling evening so should be some more progress over the next three days. Struggling with a font type for wording on the tank sides, any suggestions of a suitably imperial font to use????

Will you be adding some sort of safety cage around the ladder? potentially could space the safety bars in such a way that you can stand a figure on them as I'd imagine it will take a turn or two to climb / descend?

So after a forced break with getting a new job, family and of course Christmas, have had a few hours to myself tonight. All the big stuff is packed and wrapped with a house move on the horizon. So have spent an enjoyable few hours building my take on the Imperial Cataphract Robot. Quick little kit bash with minor scratch built components. Legs from blood and skulls, main body and arms are from mantic stalker kit with weapons from the mkiii marines kit and then an amalgamation of redemptor flamer and genestealer cult vehicle leftovers, with a cadian flamer backpack to supply the fuel. Pipes and green stuff needed to finish the flamer, as well as power plant and shoulder mount laz cannon, but that’s for ano5er evening

So a slow evening but my Cataphract build is finished. Forgotten how much I hated working with green stuff, but it has made the cable effect on the flamer I was after. FW solar aux vehicle mount lazer added over the shoulder and modified dreadnougt power pack attached. Next is primer and base coats

Cheers Bob,

Been running round after family again this week so thought I’d update with the little painting progress I’ve made. Legs I’m happy with but the body is causing a few headaches, shown with a leviathan that’s in the paint que and a converted figure for scale infront of the imperial trench system that also had a bit of attention this week.

Just found this thread, Awesome looking stuff alaricuk. Wish we were closer. I would love to combine your diorama with my city table to represent more of the landing field.

Looks like we are doing a lot of the same things. I’m also using rouge trader imperial guard torsos on new imperial guard and Victorian legs and am planning to mold and recast my first tank in the next couple of weeks once I get the rest of the parts

wish I could scratch build like you.

Cheers

I love the old rogue trader guard. They have more character than the current offerings.

I understand completely. I lost my nice workspace in the spare bedroom some time ago to SWMBO and her hobby and ended up exiled in the basement It's not so bad, except in the winter when the furnace is running, loudly, or in the summer when the de-humidifier and air conditioner are running, loudly.

So house move fell through and stuck with the Cataphract paint scheme. What better distraction than a new vehicle project!!!
All my current projects are well wrapped so thought what the hell i’ll get my larger Titan recovery vehicle started. At present it’s looking like the old epic termite carrier, which was not the initial intention but could workout quite well in light of FW releasing the termite later this year. All scratch built at present and it’s going to need a lot of rivets which will take some time. Quick in progress pic attached and hoping as it’s half term this week I may get a chance to do a bit more on it,

Half term not going to plan and half the family is down with flu/sickness bug but did manage to scratch build the idler wheel today for the running gear. Aiming to make a mould and cast it up to save time as it was fun but fiddly to put together.

I think they're okay as is- they clear the top of the cab, which is usually the rule of thumb for heavy rigs. If you look at a military 5 ton, or even a civilian tractor trailer, their stacks come just over the high point of the cab (sometimes even the top of the trailer, which makes them look gawky when the hauler isn't pulling a load).

I thin as the rest of the vehicle accretes around the chassis you've built, the good balance will become more evident.

Great progress!

Cheers Meercat, took your advise and also had a good look through the web. think your right about it fitting in as the chassis develops,

So having had a good chunk of the day without most of the family around, have done quite a lot of fiddly/fine detail for the roof of the main cab and carried on with the engine housing. Copula base needs finalising and I'm not to sure its in its final guise yet but its certainly a good start and being raised gives the observer a better all round view from the elevated position. no plans for weapons on this beast as yet. Photos aren't the best tonight as I'm struggling to pick out the detail as everything is white. wip pics from today attached and time for bed!!

Long time since I last posted and as predicted months ago I have not got my space back in the house for modelling so have had to improvise a modelling space in the shed, using a collapsible work bench and a simple piece of ply wood. It’s far from ideal but at least I can do some modelling!!!

Had a couple of hours working on the landing pad I started the middle of last year, and finally got round to building the deck and some of the trussing underneath,

Cheers Cam,

Been mega busy of late but decided to make some time for myself this weekend. As the sun was out this morning put the component parts of the space port together and a few vehicles to get an overall scale comparison fresh in my mind. Lots to do still and work has taken over somewhat but having put it all on one board I'm feeling more motivated to try and do a little bit each week, even if its just a little bit of painting.

Wanted to go with something a little different so one half will have the collegia titanica symbol the other will be if the Titan legion. Hoping it will tie the whole diorama together some what when completed.

Slow progress of late. Been building a squad of Skitarii and Secutarii on and off for or the last week, finding executing new ideas for ongoing projects a bit of a challenge so thought a break to something easier would be good. My idea is to have both Hoplites and peltast along side Skitarii Vanguard to escort my Titan hauler models, accompanied by a quartet of robots. The Cataphract I have already knocked together and have a domitar waiting in the wings, the question is what else?? Always liked the thanatar and thought maybe a colossus or conqueror might look good, thinking of kit bashing an iron circle domitar for this one though.

Cheers Meer-Cat,

ran out of time last night and camera battery life but taking advantage of the early sun and lower temp this morning took a few snaps of my wip secutarii hoplites and trial skitarii. anyone who has read through this and other blogs will know i'm an adept of Ultramar, always have, and so this has lead to influence my choice of titan legion ( true messengers) and mechanicum paint schemes, home planets and other fluff.
so with the forgeworld of Konor not always being recognised as a fully fledged forgeworld by the mechanicum, a bit of artistic licence means my skitarii could pass as Ultramar Auxillia which is a potential other avenue i may persue. With Konor's moon of Gantz being home to the Legio Praesagius the Secutarii have a similar colour scheme to the legion they are sworn to protect although i think a little more whit might be required?? the beauty for me is there is no strict pictorial markings or colour scheme from the GW printing press so i feel i can try things until i'm happy with the overall finish.
So thoughts and suggestions would be welcomed

A buddy of mine asked about the hobby one time and I described in glowing detail the imagination and concentration that painting and modeling could involve. I was a bit surprised, because this guy had never evinced any interest in this sort of thing. But he looked thoughtful and said that the concentration for painting and detail work for modeling was similar to using an object such as a flame or flower petal to focus on in certain types of meditation.

I would agree with that- and add that in my case, it keeps me off the streets!

that is very true Meercat, had similar conversations with my wife, keeps me out the pub, but then that would probably be cheaper than a resin and plastic crac habbit.
Been enjoying the last week as my eldest has taken up an interest in painting miniatures. Means i havn't got much done but its been nice to sit in the garden on the warm evenings together. I had taken her shopping for her birthday and as we were passing the store in Birmingham we popped in, she seemed to really enjoy looking round and watched people play while i quickly looked for something. when we were at the tills and the manager found out the reason for our trip he asked if she wanted a space marine or a knight, she chose a knight and was given a primed stormcast eternal figure by the GW store manager as i'd "dragged" her in on her birthday. so far shes doing really well as its her first.

It's always fun to see someone- especially a special someone- warm to our addiction, errr- hobby, yeah, hobby is what I meant. I remember my step-daughter at age seven wanting to 'help'. I gave her one of the old GW Elven Wardancers and she didn't just throw paint at it from across the room- she actually applied some skill and a good eye to the piece- I still have it, it came out pretty good. Of course, being a seven year old little girl, the colors tended to pastels, but hey- we're talking an Elf Wardancer, here, right?

Be careful with the store manager giving away free samples- drug dealers say the first taste is free too!

Evening Bob and thanks,

I had enough laying around from an abandoned railway project from about 8 years ago the main 4 large girder sections and about half the platform of the smaller profile, by using the two different sizes of what I had available meant I only needed to buy one pack off eBay,,, can’t remember how much I paid now, think it was about £7-8 for a pack of 2 of the 16mm one, which would be enough to finish off,,

Blimey where has the year gone!!! June already and still we haven’t moved :(
So frustration got the better of me and after 4 months of nothing, cracked open a box of modelling stuff yesterday and got working on a small terrain piece that will go into the space dock. I find it’s the best stress buster.
Utilising left over parts from a bathroom project, mainly bath waste pipe and connector, started construction on large promethium pipeline with branch off smaller pipe to feed up to my landing pad. The smaller pipe has been built to match the games workshop pipe kits that I have in a box somewhere
Simple box construction for the pumphouse/valve control building which will get the usual rivet detail later along with some vents and grates. Contemplating a door at the rear but not fully decided yet.

Having messed bout with trying to do a precision piece in styrene, sequins and gobs of glue, I have a greater appreciation for just how clean and neat your work is! The large bore pipe is so well detailed that it appears a companion piece by GW for the smaller run. Excellent inspiration!

Thanks Cam, taking my head out of the game of life at the moment which is much needed. Too much stress
Anyhow been messing with walkways and ladders and have mocked up a first attempt. No bothered with too much detailing yet as not so sure on the finished setup but overall like the effect, may rework the ladder as it looks a little crude but will see how I feel the next time I work on it.

I love the ladders and walkways... in fact, this whole piece is really wonderfully detailed. The rivets look great, the scale is spot on, and I bet it will be great in-game too... some LoS blocking, a high ground position, and a cool corner to define roads or corridors. Awesome design!

Cheers all and hello there neighbour,
So the temp mancave is set up,,
the previous owners had a workshop in the back of one of the garages that we didn’t see until after we moved in, and it’s bloomin perfect for my needs, power, lights and shelving, a bit rough round the edges but at least I can get going again while we sort out which part of the house we are going to convert to a 5th bedroom. Oh it couldn’t get any better at the moment,

This is an amazing project!
What are you using to make your bolts/rivets?
I use tiny half-round beads for large rivets, and little drops of uv glue (Laser Bond) for tiny rivets.

Evening smurfmaster and thanks,

For rivets I use a hollow punch, for the nuts and bolts I use the meng detail sets,

Captain brown, the move went very well thanks, just did not get a lot of notice, 6 months of waiting to get 10 days notice of confirmation and actually moving, the only casualty was the engine compartment of the space hauler that got started and stalled due to lack of space,

So having had a rethink on what we are doing with the house I lost my modelling man cave most of my stuff was packed away until the Christmas hols. Having sorted the conservatory out I have found myself a space to dabble once more and have a little update from the last 2 days tinkering. Working on my heavy hauler as, I hate to say it, I misplaced the craneblade,,,, it’s here somewhere but so safe I can’t find it at all
Anyway, rear cab detail coming on and the front is getting there, just need a good idea for the flat front section. Engine deck cover got edging and done some of the rivet work required.

Still working out how the fallen knight should look but have given the shoulders a bit of heat abuse to get the beaten and battered feel.

Evening all,,

After a 2 year forced break due to work and family commitments, finally have the mental space to pick up the scalpel, ruler and plasticard and pick up old projects… so the first one that’s got the spark going is my space orbital hauler engine assembly, scratch building, plumbing bits and also rummaging through the bits box’s for anything I think will work. So what started as a blank yesterday afternoon, now has a good chunk of the main detail in,,,,Now you guys always say more rivet detail which will follow once I have all the panels lines out and know where they are needed,,

Thanks skinflint,,,,
Just when I thought I was starting to run out of ideas for details my daughter remarked on the fact that the side panels had nothing on them,,,,, so built some hydronic rams for the access panels along with piston controls and internal wiring with basic junction box, nothing too complex as majority will be quite hidden once assembled but didn’t want to leave it completely blank.
Usual construction in platicard with the thin bands and cable clips made with tin foil( steady hand required as it tears al too easy)

So calling this build done for now,,,
Changed the top as it was originally going to be flat but it just looked all wrong,, messing with some interior lighting options and hoping once painted inside and out there will not be too much light bleed through the sides. Decided the best place for the landing gear was to go was next to the door so have started on some of the external panel form as well as detailing the interior to represent a cabin with bed and hygiene unit built from styrene ( think firefly, serenity and you won’t be far off), still need a little desk and maybe some shelves,,,, My daughter has insisted it needs a kitchen and a “lounge” like the millennium falcon dad!!! Have spent the last couple of evenings working on various internal walls, some further steps and the opposite side landing gear stowage to get an idea of the width. More work on the super structure on the opposite side today,, bit of bulk added to the lower quarter as well as beginning some positional thrusters ( we’ll will be when I finish them ) inspiration taken from directions nozzle for take off and landing like a harrier jump jet.
So the second window will form a second crew cabin and then there will be a small tool weapon store before the cargo bay starts,,, this will lead to the engine room and will give a real idea of size
struggling with ideas for the front though, lounge is taking shape and thinking a couple more cabins but the cockpit and canopy style is where I’m really stumped,,,,,

So having ran into a mental block on how the mid section will interface with the cargo bay I’ve made a start on the second landing leg which is identical to the first,,also building some of the internal details for the cockpit, so far have built pilots chair and control station both of which need the detailing finishing on the sides and rear as well as the addition of some cabling on some of the control surfaces,,next up will be co-pilot/engineers station as well as a comms desk. Also have the beginnings of a twin linked lazer for mounting under the nose which I need to make some sort of interface control seat/chair right at the front of the craft..

Enjoying a rainy day off work so have finished off all the detailing on console1 and then console 2 from start to finish as well..
second chair needs a little more detail work to finish but my fingers need a break,,, keep getting cramp,,
the bridge deck area is definitely coming on better than I’d expected. Hoping by the end of my week off to made a lot more progress,,, but I keep seeing the good lady writing lists of jobs,,, so we will have to see,

Thanks Tommygunn,, I like to let my imagination run riot some days,,

So, still raining,, so no chance of painting today!!
3rd console is all finished, have an idea to make a clipboard or maybe a stack of old cd’s but will have to see,, had thought about making a Sony walk man and some scattered tapes ( I like star lord in guardians of the galaxy)
made a typical headset for the comms station out of copper wire and plastic bits to give it a further detail dimension. Pleased but now out of ideas for the rest of the ship,,,

Also started on making some other small scenic bits for cameo’s that hints to other sci-fi shows that will be all over the visible area’s of this project,,,,

Cheers Guarding,,
Painting continued with the 2 nav desks getting similar treatment, to the comms workstation. This will just leave the 2 seat units that need a bit of tiding up before starting on painting. I’d forgotten how much of a steady hand is required when painting detail nearly bit my tongue off twice this evening,,,
Also been playing with canopy ideas but all have failed to get of the ground so it’s back to pen and paper to scribble out some rough ideas,,

And with that quote bouncing round my head last night as I struggle with insomnia, got to thinking does my cargo bay need a wheeled quad ( Atalan jackles may be of help here) or do I go with a grav sled?
Good trolling through several web sites has given me some ideas as well as multiple ideas for palletised loads and container options,,, I had initially thought I’d make the bay 12” in length but it maybe growing a bit to accommodate all my ideas.

still working on what to do with the window openings and cab shape at the very front, tried a couple of thinks but they just failed again,,,not sure weather to go curved or angular???

This build continues to be jaw-dropping in its execution and complexity as you progress!

Satcom gear or las-turret- depends on what you see this ship purposed for: if a merchantman/Survey/Scout/Family runabout, then probably satcom gear. Fringe Trader/military/Space Coast Guard, then las-turret. Either offers the possibility of a ladder for the crewman to climb to get up into the 'bubble' to operate wither the gun or the antenna array (not that we don't have switches and cable runs for that sort of thing.)

In the same vein, this is a spacefaring vessel of the far future: where da rivets at?

Just kidding!

Cheers Meer_cat, was thinking local/internal system cargo and passenger hauler, so not warp capable and definitely not a military transport bristling with weapons. have the idea it would have lite defence capability, under nose and aft top mounted laz,,,
The bubble was going under the nose as the forward defence position but it just didn’t feel right, and then when I threw it down with a loss of temper it landed on the cabin and thought,, that don’t look half bad!!!! Then realised it looked like something out of the early Flash Gordon tv series and was sold on it,,,

I lost the year!!!!

Life doesn’t always go to plan and as we get older, time definitely seems to pass more quickly with the river of gakky situations coming in short succession,,,in short a very stressful year with family, dealing with more than usual churn of life, child physical and mental illnesses, the inevitable loss of older family members, and the surprising loss of friends, meant my head needed a holiday and the creative juice just stopped so nothing got touched.

Started to pick things up a few weeks ago and have made some progress that has gone well enough to share. Hauler nose work has began and this has been a source of lots of paper scribbles before cutting plastic, using the plastic contemptor dreadnought gun as a focal point, then started to work backwards to wards the cock pit area. Built another crew terminal for the forward gunner position and “sunk” it at the forward cockpit area. The main body has had the communal area floor installed, as well as the detailing on one of the positional landing thrusters, not sure how much of this will be visible once finished but it was fun to work on,,, so that’s it for now, going to keep chipping away at things and updates will follow

I have an under nose twin linked lax cannon already, it’s the pesky top nose mounted ones that causing issues. Will have to remind myself of the at-at arrangement as I currently am completely stuck with it,,,
Which means over the Christmas period I got and old project back out to work on. Relatively simple Taurox and diecast 1/50 scale trailer conversion to artic unit with twin wheeled tank trailer,, lots of kit bash and scratch build

So as I lost track of the clock last night as having way too much fun with this project, didn’t get the time to post my progress on my trailer, core left hand side underframe detail complete, rivets and handles is about all that’s left I feel, will start in the other side today at some point.

So just when I thought I was finished my daughter spotted that I’d missed finishing the front end of the trailer chassis and improving the tow hitch so will still have that to do this evening before going back to work tomorrow ,, but pretty much finished with the side and rear build spent a couple of hours building the rear light clusters and stowage door, riveted up the new frames and panel details, coupled with of Jerry cans from the bits box thrown in the frame and I’m reasonably happy with it.

Edit- for some reason I am unable to post any pictures,, just keep getting an http error notification,,

So seems I have sorted my pic uploading issue,,, must have been a change in the settings after my phone updated, anyway, work on the front of the trailer chassis progressing, had to extend the hitch attachment as after I added the front sole bar sections I’d reduced the turning circle too much. Steps for the tractor unit finally arrived so fitted them along with a large fuel tank behind the wheels,, this still needs the filler spout and cap building but I have all weekend for that. Unfortunately a very cold weekend forecast here so will be a while till I can get a coat of primer on this I fear,,

So the resurrection of old projects continues, after the success of the control and nav panels for my cargo hauler, thought I’d try the same process for my scavenger crawler, this time though I’ve use 1/48 ejection seats instead of building my own, started to build things in modules for ease of construction rather than fighting the whole model,,, test fit in the vehicle and looks ok, still really cold here so not much else getting done today,

Had a little tinker earlier in the week and an hour or 2 tonight working on some more interior detail. Started with a bench seat against the engine bulk head and then fashioned a basic table. Then thought you can’t go roaming round the wastes without the means of cooking up some recaf or tanna so pulled together a 2 ring burner and a simple prep counter with cupboard underneath,, even added an extractor for a bit of a laugh,, just need to fashion a cooking pot and kettle now!!

First time seeing your blog, I just skimmed it from the beginning (2016!). Firstly you work is great, very inspirational, I love it. Those control consoles are ridiculous! Second, it's inspirational that you keep plugging along, I very much admire that. You work on a project, then get sidelined for a year, then you come back to it. It's the epitome of not failing, you never give up. Makes me feel bad for making excuses to not work on my projects. Keep up the awesome and inspiring work.

A little more progress on the wasteland crawler and playing with an idea that will be useful on a number of projects. Before mounting the rear body I thought it needs a crane and some stabilising feet,, as I said earlier I like parts on my models to move so this leg slides in and out the body on a 5mm square tube, the inner 4mm section slides out and can then rotate 90* to lower the foot to the ground. The foot is off a dune crawler and I’ve fashioned a working pivot on the joint, needs some minor ram detail or something along those lines as well as rivets but too cold and late today,,
Have a good week all,,

Trying to work out how to install some magnets without destroying everything else in the process so i can slide the crane across the back without it falling off,,,,,,

Cheers all, not a lot of progress of late. Cold snap in the weather means the conservatory has not been very hospitable for long modelling sessions.
Must confess struggling with the crane , want to do something new, but having already built 3 differing types on other models I can’t decide on direction this should go. I have a structure but i’m not happy with result. I also finally after a decade managed to get an atlas recovery kit,, definitely a copy and not original but it’s good enough for me. So while I figure all things crane think I’ll build a couple of easy kits.

So today turned into a building day. Started on some pipe sections to go in the back of either a trailer or pipe relay maintence vehicle, I have a couple of sections of the gw stuff but find it has too many widgets and additional piping and looks out of place, so pulled something a bit more plain iane together today. 22mm plastic overflow pipe as a base with my usual plasticard and nut detail with hole punched rivets. Have a few more to do but pleased with its basic appearance and how it’s turned out, placed it next to the gw pump section piece and I think once primed will look pretty good.

Cheers Jacka, CB,
Lovely morning for a bit of detailing on a stalled project. Not touched this one since late 2016 and having looked at it several times inspiration hit this morning. Couple of small cable guide and roller details in relation to the heavy winch cable run to the front of the vehicle, large search light as common on all guide vehicles , smoke launchers and found the exhausts, air filter and fuel tank parts from the original kit in the bits box. Finished detailing the new hatches and added some 3d printed jerry cans in a cradle to the side. Still think a few small hand tools and stowage might be needed,

So a steady evening and an early start today have the atlas recovery kit mostly built, just the tracks to assemble and then another stalled kit got a little love today. My scratch built tankette got some rear end detail and quick drivers hatch installed, panel edge rivets to the front and rear, then put the blood and skulls medium turret on to finish the overall look but may change it out for something else. Need to get some more resin to make a few more of these,,, lots more versions to play with I recon. Couldn’t resist a group shot to round out my morning,

Thinking I might have it as a water carrier instead of promethium, still mulling over what colour the chassis and shutter doors should be as well as the main truck colour. Trawled through the internet for inspiration but as yet nothing jumps out,

I like the flack tank. Some good anti-air support for all that machinery. With a turret that small is it supposed to be remote operated? It's a cool change from the usual WW2 vibe that most guard tanks have.

Cheers Mr Nobody, I hadn’t really thought about that when I was going through the bits box, but now I look at it your right and possibly yes, the turret would certainly work remotely with a small 2 man crew below,,
When I was building the original model, never designed it being a light tank, it was just something that popped in head when I was assembling a couple of units for my heavy haul trailer. I have a selection of turrets in the bits box, I think in an earlier post I’d tried several others out and liked this as an infantry suppressor style vehicle, but would work in and AA role just as well,

So something with wheels this afternoon for a change. riot suppression/anti aircraft search light unit. Something like that anyway…digging through the build pile of kits and came across some bits I’ve been collecting for this project for a while. Pisces wheeled Sides and Capricorn mk1 rear top hull section plus turret are all from the original blood and skulls range ( before swapping to uk agent) not sure you can get the turret any more. Managed to find an old forge world searchlight to go on the rear with random hatch and standard kit parts on the chimera hull front, annoyingly only have flamers currently so waiting before installing front hull weapon. Rear ramp is a mix of hellhound kit part with scratch built top section awaiting final detailing, usual rivets and such.
Nice quick and easy build for a Thursday afternoon.

Continued work on the crowd suppressor vehicle today with rear door detail added as well as deciding to not put a weapon on the front, went for a weapon hatch from zinge industries instead, installed some simple wire handles on the hull mounted hatch’s, primed and then a base coat of forest green, black on the tyres brings it all together. Kids have decided that it needs a name and after a laugh or two in the kitchen it was decided that this vehicle was called “ Beca, the riot wrecker”
needs a name plate on the front hull somewhere as well as some light weathering, but for now I’m leaving it alone as I quite like the minimal look for once.

So while the green was ok, decided to go metallic blue, like the rest of my ground forces, needs a variation though as it will be part of a pdf force rather than mechanicus. Also playing with ideas for another eBay purchase, hull of a forgeworld flame thrower kit. So had a rummage through the bits box and was wondering if it should be an improvised lazer cannon mobile platform, another variant of a transport supply vehicle, with a lean toward artillery supply. Or maybe even an ambulance vehicle with a major construction on the rear with double opening doors and some stretchers inside,,think and evening of pen and paper ahead

So a slight change for me as I’ve focussed on painting a couple of old figures I converted a while back. These are heavy salvage servitor’s slice and ripper. Both use 40k models for the base model with arms and backs backs from numerous 3rd parties.
Had done some work on the artillery supply vehicle but it hasn’t quite clicked yet,,

That's a large variety of tanks there!
Favourite at the moment is the scavenger crawler(?) with the living space inside.
That ogryn servitor is looking pretty sweet painted...
Look forward to seeing more!

Cheers Guarding, CB. Feel I need to build a few “straight from the box” kits to balance out the view so they are not all converted models but, time and money means this may take a while,,,

Some simple work on a salamander the last couple of nights,, small bit of additional rivet detail on the front round hatch but currently that’s it for modifications. Am thinking of using some armoured sides from the blood and skulls line at Erik’s hobbies or maybe just some of their track guards, plenty of scope for stowage then to mix it up a bit,,, also need to find a suitable figure to portray Cain and maybe knock up a Jurgen covered in pouches,,, problem is all my figures are “old guard” so struggling to find bits these days without paying through the nose,,,,
