Oh dear it appears that I’ve been evicted,
Came home from work to find “she who must be obeyed” had returned my stuff to where it belongs :(

I see some diy on the horizon, that’s what happened last time the good lady put my modelling away

Long time since I last posted and as predicted months ago I have not got my space back in the house for modelling so have had to improvise a modelling space in the shed, using a collapsible work bench and a simple piece of ply wood. It’s far from ideal but at least I can do some modelling!!!

Had a couple of hours working on the landing pad I started the middle of last year, and finally got round to building the deck and some of the trussing underneath,

Cheers Cam,

Been mega busy of late but decided to make some time for myself this weekend. As the sun was out this morning put the component parts of the space port together and a few vehicles to get an overall scale comparison fresh in my mind. Lots to do still and work has taken over somewhat but having put it all on one board I'm feeling more motivated to try and do a little bit each week, even if its just a little bit of painting.

So a busy weekend, my eldest was at a big cub/scout camp and it was her birthday as well so only a little progress made detailing the deck of the landing pad. Wanted to go with something a little different so one half will have the collegia titanica symbol the other will be if the Titan legion. Hoping it will tie the whole diorama together some what when completed.

Slow progress of late. Been building a squad of Skitarii and Secutarii on and off for or the last week, finding executing new ideas for ongoing projects a bit of a challenge so thought a break to something easier would be good. My idea is to have both Hoplites and peltast along side Skitarii Vanguard to escort my Titan hauler models, accompanied by a quartet of robots. The Cataphract I have already knocked together and have a domitar waiting in the wings, the question is what else?? Always liked the thanatar and thought maybe a colossus or conqueror might look good, thinking of kit bashing an iron circle domitar for this one though.

The sun was shining bright today as was the flow of inspiration, some 300 rivets later and a very sore hand i have detailed the underside of the landing pad.

the outer edge still needs tiding up once the top layer is finished and ready to attach, and a little cabling here and there but am pleased with the final effect.

I am in awe of the effort you have gone to on the underside of the pad. I mean the truss supports in can totally understand... The rivets are a whole other level of devotion

The last one is supposed to be upside down, it was the only way to really get the best shot.
As to earlier posts I gave up posting of my iPhone as no matter which way the picture was taken, it came out different when I posted it

Thanks for the positive comments though guys,

I knew this was some of your work as soon as I saw the pics in the Gallery- This Week uploads. Extreme attention to detail and a steady hand! Well done.

Cheers Meer-Cat,

ran out of time last night and camera battery life but taking advantage of the early sun and lower temp this morning took a few snaps of my wip secutarii hoplites and trial skitarii. anyone who has read through this and other blogs will know i'm an adept of Ultramar, always have, and so this has lead to influence my choice of titan legion ( true messengers) and mechanicum paint schemes, home planets and other fluff.
so with the forgeworld of Konor not always being recognised as a fully fledged forgeworld by the mechanicum, a bit of artistic licence means my skitarii could pass as Ultramar Auxillia which is a potential other avenue i may persue. With Konor's moon of Gantz being home to the Legio Praesagius the Secutarii have a similar colour scheme to the legion they are sworn to protect although i think a little more whit might be required?? the beauty for me is there is no strict pictorial markings or colour scheme from the GW printing press so i feel i can try things until i'm happy with the overall finish.
So thoughts and suggestions would be welcomed

Sunday was another productive day with my first attempt at my legion symbol for the landing pad being the right size first time and no breakages, slips or mishaps!!!
really happy with how this is going and just need to sort out the edges around the edge and the landing marker lights and then it can all go together.

A buddy of mine asked about the hobby one time and I described in glowing detail the imagination and concentration that painting and modeling could involve. I was a bit surprised, because this guy had never evinced any interest in this sort of thing. But he looked thoughtful and said that the concentration for painting and detail work for modeling was similar to using an object such as a flame or flower petal to focus on in certain types of meditation.

I would agree with that- and add that in my case, it keeps me off the streets!

that is very true Meercat, had similar conversations with my wife, keeps me out the pub, but then that would probably be cheaper than a resin and plastic crac habbit.
Been enjoying the last week as my eldest has taken up an interest in painting miniatures. Means i havn't got much done but its been nice to sit in the garden on the warm evenings together. I had taken her shopping for her birthday and as we were passing the store in Birmingham we popped in, she seemed to really enjoy looking round and watched people play while i quickly looked for something. when we were at the tills and the manager found out the reason for our trip he asked if she wanted a space marine or a knight, she chose a knight and was given a primed stormcast eternal figure by the GW store manager as i'd "dragged" her in on her birthday. so far shes doing really well as its her first.

It's always fun to see someone- especially a special someone- warm to our addiction, errr- hobby, yeah, hobby is what I meant. I remember my step-daughter at age seven wanting to 'help'. I gave her one of the old GW Elven Wardancers and she didn't just throw paint at it from across the room- she actually applied some skill and a good eye to the piece- I still have it, it came out pretty good. Of course, being a seven year old little girl, the colors tended to pastels, but hey- we're talking an Elf Wardancer, here, right?

Be careful with the store manager giving away free samples- drug dealers say the first taste is free too!

Apologies for the lack of posts in recent months, not given up, as sum have asked me, but have been very busy packing up 4 kids and the good lady to finally move and have had no chance of doing anything of late.
Hoping that this is going to all finalise in the next 3 weeks, so Early in the new year should be sufficiently unpacked to start progressing projects again.

your scratch building skills are insane, great work, can I ask where you got girders from, ones I have seen on ebay are a bit pricey

Evening Bob and thanks,

I had enough laying around from an abandoned railway project from about 8 years ago the main 4 large girder sections and about half the platform of the smaller profile, by using the two different sizes of what I had available meant I only needed to buy one pack off eBay,,, can’t remember how much I paid now, think it was about £7-8 for a pack of 2 of the 16mm one, which would be enough to finish off,,

thanks for info, I want to use them for extra supports on my oil rig but going to need a lot so would work out quite expensive, cheers anyway and look forward to updates

Blimey where has the year gone!!! June already and still we haven’t moved :(
So frustration got the better of me and after 4 months of nothing, cracked open a box of modelling stuff yesterday and got working on a small terrain piece that will go into the space dock. I find it’s the best stress buster.
Utilising left over parts from a bathroom project, mainly bath waste pipe and connector, started construction on large promethium pipeline with branch off smaller pipe to feed up to my landing pad. The smaller pipe has been built to match the games workshop pipe kits that I have in a box somewhere
Simple box construction for the pumphouse/valve control building which will get the usual rivet detail later along with some vents and grates. Contemplating a door at the rear but not fully decided yet.
