Thanks for the nice replies
Well I want my titans to be red and be Mars based so it kinda came naturally that it had to be Ignatum, also I spend a lot of time redesigning the wasp logo and am currently working on having the logos done in etched brass which hopefully will be a nice touch on the models.
I get most of my plasticard from a local modelshop that sell aircraft kits and stuff and from a wargames shop here in Denmark. My best advice is to search for modelshops in your country that sell evergreen scale models plasticard, which is what I use and is superb.

Thanks I took a look at your knight and it's looking good although in my personal taste I prefer them with more leg armour but that's just me :p I think it's a real shame you stuck it to suck a small base as it makes the model look a bit tall and unbalanced, like a big bowling pin that could easily fall over. I'd love to see your warhound if you have any pics

I agree. It was one of my earlier conversions, when my abilities weren't inline with my desires. Honestly, they still aren't, but I can do better now. I think it's time for the Knight to come in for a 'servicing'. I am curious, though, as to just how big the base you have yours on is?
And yeah, I'll grab some pictures of the Warhound. It's a bit better than the Knight but still nothing like things you can produce.

I think that's an excellent choice dude, my base is around 12cm in diameter and is made from plasticard. Looking forward to seeing the warhound

Hehe not completely... Yet
Cardinal Xaphan wrote:Wow this is amazing. What materials did you use?
The knight is mostly a kit-bash and some plasticard, and the reaver is mostly plasticard. The warlord is a mix of kits, plasticard and foamboard with filler on it.
I've done some work redesigning the legio iconography for Ignatum, which I'm working on getting made in brass etch. The picture haven't been vectorized yet.

I'm really glad you like it, it is one of the models I'm most proud of having made He'll get some more weapon options soon as his arms are magnetised.
Did some work on the legs, mainly around the hips and waist to beef it up, also added a bit to the thigh on the inside. The latter on the inside of the shin has been modified to be the track for a lift that sits on it's stand by position just under the knee joint. This will act as a rig for attaching a maintenance platform for leg and lower body repairs and service checks. the idea came to me when I was playing around with parts to beef up the legs and I actually think it's a real nice detail.
Anyway on to the pics

Out of interest...you've obviously spent a bit putting these together...drop pods...tanks etc...
I'm just wondering if it is worth breaking them down into shins, knees, thighs etc and casting them? Have you considered that?
16007
Post by: the damned artificer
Well having to cast them would be awesome, but also a hell of a lot of extra work so I think I'm just gonna pas on that one However I'm considering casting some of the crew, as this makes it a bit less time consuming and a friend of mine is currently in the process of acquiring a huge amount of mold rubber and resin
So who knows what I'll end up with

So got a little done on the titans, so here's a small update.
The reaver:
I've ditched the wip cannon for the left arm, instead deciding that a lasblaster was more appropriate and looked way cooler. So I did the basic work for the 3 barrels and tagged them on the arm mount to take some pics. I also tagged some possible detail to the shoulders and have magnetised the arm joints so that the arms can be removed under transport/storage.
The lasblaster is still only barrels, that's why it looks a bit puny. this will all change when I get the rest built and put the gun shields on.

Considering the time it has taken me to do just one reaver and one warlord so far I'd need about 50-60 years to ever complete that many engines even though it would be awesome And there's the storage issue of course, hehe.
Here's a little update, did some gs work on the head, but it needs sanding so will show tomorrow when it's dry and sanded. Tonight I did the fans that go in the area under the round mesh that will act as a cooling system for the VSG's and I also added a few details like the targeting bay for the carapace weapon and the discs that will eventually hold the VSG's when I get around to making them.

Scratch built titans, enourmous levels of awesome detail, and there's TWO of them (so far!?). Has anyone told you you are fething insane! In a totally awesome way of course, but insane none the less. Those cockpits are easily the most awesome part, going to that level of detail on a bit that usually won't be seen is a sign of true dedication and a level of epic win that I haven't seen on Dakka for a long while. That front on picture of the green-stuffed cockpit makes it look peeved as hell. Seriously though, well done. Consider me subscribed and in total awe.

I get the insane comment a lot, so thanks
Well the plan is to keep to the reaver and warlord for now, but I'm tempted to do a Legio mortis titan at a point Maybe a opposing chaos reaver to meet my current one, but this is all uncertain and for now finishing these babies comes first
And the main reason for my passion on these two is that I don't game, and therefore need my models to be of a higher standard to motivate me. But I've got some friends that game so it might get lent out for combat action at some point... Maybe

Thank you, I guess the middle sized one with the driver in the head is the knight ?? the one that opens up right ?? The yellow headed one is the reaver. The knights are a bit hard to find proper fluff on since they are not officially a part of the fluff, at least not in the game system as they appear in mechanicum (horus heresy series, by Graham McNeill) but well google is a good start for info or the old epic rulebook The comic project and manufactorum both sounds like awesome projects, and I'd like very much to see them

The cooling system fans in the main engine are from the CoD Manufactorum, the ones in the two cooling compartments are fans from the drop pod kit

Okay so it's finally update time.
A lot of things have happened on the reaver, it is all done except for the torso, crew and banner and painting has begun. I've been lucky enough to borrow an airbrush so the painting will hopefully be less painful as airbrushing really is quicker for such a large model. Well enough of that, here's some PIP pics and the unpainted pics of the painted parts will be uploaded in a few days.
the head carapace, it has had the yellow completely done, and I'm quite pleased with it.
And the entire engine first without armour plates and then with. The torso still needs details before being basecoated and painted and hopefully I'll get it done in a few days time.

I don't know what they'll represent as I don't intend to play any games with this army, it's mostly a hobby project as this allows me to build stuff and ignore any rules :
The small spiders are made from search lights from the ravenwing upgrade sprue with legs made from the radar disk on the sm vehicle accessory sprue.

Hehe thanks dude I'll see if I can get n udate soon for you
I have a priority list that starts with me getting my own airbrush, and then maybe saving up for either a warhound or a reaver (would be neat with 2 reavers and a warlord ) I totally understand your feelings towards the warhound, it's an awesome model and a great kit as well I must say after building 2 of the FW ones I really want one for myself at some point.

I like what you did with the brass etch. I was never able to fully get behind the iconography for the Legio Ignatum, but this looks really good. I ended up doing mine LI logos cartoon-style, like WWII bomber art. Your way is much less of a headache painting-wise

Here's an update of what have been going on at the forges for the last while.
The mechanicus force will be escorted by some close friends on their top secret mission, the Iron Hands. So here's my small IH escort (That might grow bigger at some point, who knows ) These are all WIP's and the rhino has only got one layer of white on the hatch symbols and some interior paint so far.

Awesome stuff - as always!
Any chance of some more pictures of that excellent dreadnought?
Especially close ups of both weapon arms?

Thanks!
You've made the old Chaos Dread into something really, really nice!
How did you make the Power Fist arm/hand?
16007
Post by: the damned artificer
I'm glad you think so too
I made the arm from the original power claw, replaced the claw itself with the old imperial dreadnought smoke launcher and made some fingers from tube. then I mounted the DA dread shin armour over the hand as a guard.

Wow. Normally I'm not a fan of scratch-built Titans (the level of detail is never really there on larger Titans) but your work is superb!
I'm really a fan of the smaller Titans - the Knight Titan is really something awesome, and I love the detail on it.
I'm also really interested in the smaller models you've done - what's the thing with the four assault cannons?

Well, you achieved the impossible and made the Chaos dread look cool. Nice work, sir.

I would love to commend you on the dread with two two twin-linked assault cannons, but I am too busy seething with envy. Excellent work on everything.

I utterly love your Knight Paladin. It tempts me to scratch-build a Revenant, but I don't have enough bitz. Either way, it's seriously cool. Are you going to paint the driver in it?
16007
Post by: the damned artificer
Yeah at some point when I get around to it, the cockpit and driver of the knight will get painted as well.
I just got a lot going on atm

So I've been doing a lot of work on the warlord, it has received a lot of new "skin" in the form of plasticard for smoother and easy to detail surfaces. The picture of the rectangle is a top-view shot of the engine, showing the compartment where the tech priest will be residing (he is currently on his way in the mail from FW). The engineroom will have a lot of detail but I'll get to that later in constuction.
The head is nearing it's final shape and detailing of the interior will soon begin, but for now you'll have to do with the pics of the head tscked to the torso.
Here's a comparison shot of the warlord and the reaver, it's starting to look like something now.
And a shot of the reaver.
I also got my hands on this, the now OOP forge world opus machina.

As always, awesome stuff!
It is nice to see 'scratch built' Titans on the field, as it give me hope to one day being able to field one myself, however unlikely that particular case may be!

Got the legs ready and under coated. They need the armour plates but I think they are somewhat done otherwise. Basecoat is black and then boltgun spray.
Just wondering but are the legs made out of the planetstrike landing pad? Was looking at pic and thought i recognised some of the parts.
All of these pics look briliant i am tempted to try and make one myself.

Thanks dude No there's no plan to build an imperator at any point, if I ever build another titan it'll be a renegade one. Probably legio mortis

As some of you may have noticed I have been in a marine phase lately, and thus the only admech models receiving any love lately have been their good buddies, the Iron Hands
So here's a taste of ferrus manus' finest for you. The dread is still missing some details before I go to the weathering stage.

Subscribed, You have a skill of making kitbashes look like an integrated peice when your done, rather than the usual result of bits cobbled together the you see so regular.
I tip my hat to you sir !

Aye it be the oldie chaos dread, it took quite a bit of work to get it to this from the original model.

DijnsK wrote:is there a scratchbuild template available for this titan?? only found one for a warhound titan
No, sorry
I build it entirely from scratch so it's a combination of a lot of pre-planing and in the moment changes as much of it is just made up as I go along
