Cheers, I do illustrations for the gaming business.
Here is my latest personal work: Ahadi
"Their eyes had turned pitch-black; their thist for blood... they wanted to drink it... The waters... the waters where poisoned..."
-Last words of Confessor Iliaton, shortly after the Incident at Priory of Ahad.
Fanart, what happends if Sororitas fall? I don't know, but this is my little mind-exploration on the topic...
(If you read this elsewhere, yes, I copy paste the text, I just want the text to be there as a subtext, if you have questions, just ask )
Wowza. That is some very impressive work there. Am mighty impressed, that last one (SoB) is very, very impressive, as is the (WIP) Space Marine. Seriously great work. I'll definitely be keeping track of this. Anything else planned?
Not sure how many of you guys read the article-section in here, but I have an article up about my graphic novel and trying to keep some track on creation around it. Might give some peeks and such (infact there is one right now)

Also, I went on to the next stage in the Art-Jam, Nect up is Al'Rahem, hero of the Tallarn Raiders...

cheers guys.
I use Photoshop mostly, for this one I have only used Photoshop for now, later on I might take it into Painter and/or After Effects, or Fusion, to get the last bits in.
His scalp has been peeled away for the agressive-chip-cabling to go into his skull.

Sorry about that, we are exchanging hosts (as our old host failed to meet our requirement for bandwidth). Meanwhile we are updating the website and as such the link is dead right now.
For more updates of other kinds, and contactinfo, you can go to my deviantartpage for the time being:
one of these days I'll get back to doing some 40k art and post it here somewhere.
You should, I checked out your website and you should post it here if you do some.
Just pick a topic of you own eh? Too crowded in my topic fo other peoples work
Cloesup of face at the current state....
Added Spoiler-tag, make sure your boss or kids arent around :p . This is the last image I show of this before the final here on Dakka, The final will be run past mods before posted so it might not be shown here.
anyways.
Got some critique that he wasnt looking angry enough.
Also, an update on timeline:
Before Demonhood- after Heresy
Also, after reading "after Da'shea" I decided that Angron would have naturally read eye-sockets because of the exhaustion the Agression-chip would excert even on a primarch, as well as the constant rubbing of the eyes whenever he thought something was stupid or dishonorable (he does that everytime he gets annoyed by the Emperor or the 'paper men'). Rubbing eyes with bloodied hands/gauntlets will fill sockets with bloodstains...
Captain Jack wrote:For a 'quick concept' that is mighty fine. Thanks for sharing your work, and I look forward to seeing lots more!
"quick concept"= less then one days actual work, normally I will spend several days worth of work concepting things, before I start doing full illustrations, which can take a lot of time. Even though quite alot of that time is also collecting references, research, shooting models etc etc.
For this image I used a basic poser model to get the rough estimate of the body, looked up some photos for general reference I have to beef up the guy and get better muscles, then I researhed Skitarii and checked some links and images provided by the client to get the stuff right.
I have a vast library of old types of armour on my PC, as well as a couple of books on armour and weapons of ancient nations. It helps alot to speed the process.
If I would make this a full painting, I would at this point transfer the stuff to get lines, then start painting from skratch, just using this to get the general idea of planes. Angron is a good example of where I am doing that...sort of... some things are altered along the progress but for the most part I have a solid idea that I stick with.
I would like to take a moment to explain some of my choices around this image.
_-Character-_
Bloodspiller
I wanted the character to have the characteristics of a true follower of Khorne. What does this mean? Well, in my opinion that means a person who will spill blood for glory, spill blood for honour, spill blood for sustenance, spill blood for healing, spill blood for survival...and all of the above in the name of Khorne.
That might sound very bloody and gory, but Im aproaching this from a psychological point of view, and I dont mean that there wont be blood (obviously there is, you've seen the WiPs) but rather I am trying to show a man who spends all of his waking hours spilling blood. Not all times it will be in a frenzy, some times it will be in joy, in sadness in straining situations and when tired.
TechnoGladiator
Angron has the agressive-augmenting chips stuck to his head. These are meant to augment his agressiveness whilst fighting as a Gladiator. They also make him get uncontrollable fits of rage, which will, after years, decades, centuries be tiresome, even for a Primarch.
Skulltaker
This is more visual, there will be skulls, lets keep it at that.
_-Style-_
Gladiator
I am trying my best to make the armour of Angron look very much greco-roman gladiator-styled. But I cannot do that completely since this is set in the distant future, far out in space.
Images by Wayne England and the cover of Tales of Heresy have stood as influence for some of the details, such as the Bevor stretching behin his head, partially shielding the cabling from behind. The two romanesque chest-shields are also based upon Roman and Greek armour adornments.
Mola Ram
I wanted the character to have certain traits that just looked... characterful an ambigous.
I used several faces as reference for this character, one of the ones that you lot probably had no clue about is that of Mola Ram (played by Amrish Puri) from Temple of doom.
The character is just perfect as inspiration for Angron- shrinking heads, taking out hearts and running a bloodcult, plus he has some features that just made me think Angron- The broad chin with high cheekbones, the dark around the eyes and the red paint on the head - aching to the same thing on all known illustrations of Angron (before Demonprince).
I am still altering the face somewhat though for the most part I am done with it, I am not going to give him more colour like Mola Ram, I dont want it to be a copy, rather just inspired by him. And thats how I use ref nowadays, as inspiration and to get light correct.
Other references
I took a lot of inspiration from painters Kevin Llewellyn and Michael Hussar, aswell as Rubens and Rembrandt (mostly their way of using Chiaroscuro, a way of painting very dark darks and very bright brights- to simplify it alot).
This explains my colours alot.
White Armour?
Yes, I am painting Angrons armour White and Brass/Copper, with small patches of other colours such as red and green.
The reason for this is actually a personal preference based upon something fellow artist an friend Nicholás Giancola (Aerion-the-Faithful) said after having painted Angron:
"There's an official representation of Angron, which I didn't hold too close to my chest when coming up with my own vision. To me, his gladiatorial past was paramount to the character as well as the whole anger stance he should have. On top of that, I also envisioned this Primarch to be like Alpharius: closer to the rank and file soldier than high up above them. Getting dirty is a must for a leader who's watched in horror how all of his battle brothers were slaughtered in his homeworld.
There are a few details I'd like to point out and which hold particular interest to me: the gory axe versus the white of his armour are something I love. I thought about the grim fact that white armour would likely be moist with blood all the time, making it more noticeable and terrible to behold; I chose it over the gold of the official."
This stuck with me, and even though I'm not going towards a blueish tangentcolour to the white, the idea stays the same- Blood just stands out more on white.
I just hope there will be enough white armour to show it when I'm done...
There, some reasoning behind how I paint this personal painting.
Whilst I am still working on Angron, thought you guys wanted to see what I toy with otherwise...
I made an article right here at DakkaDakka, about a graphical novel Im making. Got some images in it, aswell as thoughts.
Since nobody seem to be interested in discussing it I thought Id share a quick preview of a character portrait Im doing right here.
Im also making a serf that is carrying his helmet.
This being a posing type image of the character...
The white armour isnt really completed, need to make it liik more realistic, also began on the cloak. The serf is going to have cords and wires come out of the hood and head.
I use refs for everything. Its the only way to paint things proper.
I dont do paintovers though, I use the refs to get the right feel for shape and form, as well as textures and colourshifts.
For the serf I used a ref from a guy called mjranum on deviantart. He has an oirdinairy account and a stock-account. Very useful for someone like me, whom doesnt really have the models in abundance to take photos f.
Anyhow, will be working more on this as time passes, but frst got some dealines...
moonshine wrote:You sir are a brilliant artist. Angron looks scary as ever and is tha Garviel Loken you are working on ?
No, it's a character called Sar Haroth, he's the chaptermaster of the Angels Cruentis. More info to be found in the article I made here on dakka...
Link is in Sig, if it shows...
I'm a little confused. You say you're an illustrator, other folks are saying you draw great, and you claim these were made using Photoshop? Can you draw with Photoshop? I thought it was for modifying existing images...
Forgive me my ignorance, I'm a technical savage. I don't understand the first thing about computers (well, okay, I can turn one on).
With a tablet and a stylus I can get up to 2500 pressure levels. Mayhap not exactly as sensitive as my hand but close enough to be able to "handpaint" every illustration I make.
Although, that sword position looks like it should be 2 handed to me. Maybe its just because the rest of the hilt isn't there so it looks funny or something.
I use a standard GW "10-head(Heroic)" anatomy. That is, normal humans are roughly eight heads tall, to make it more heroic, painters usually make the humans nine heads tall, GW (and me) make the spacemarines ten heads tall.
As you can see, this image shows the anatomy of the Sar in red, and next to it you can see nine head-circles on top of eachother (one is below the image, cropped out if you will). The only thing that looks odd about the image, anatomy-wise is the leg-armour, because it is bent differently then how the leg would go, and then only by a minute difference. These are things that I fix as I go.
With Sosol, the terminator, there is a similar thing going on, though the terminator armour was never anatomically correct. The arms just wont fit. Therefore I favour a point of view where the ams of a terminator armour is part mechanical (like in the teaser-trailer fro Starcraft2) and that the legs have the actual feet of the SM before the foot of the armour begins.
Just absolutely beautiful work! this is an amazing thread with content that will inspire me and others around the world! sometimes all it takes is an image or concept that will trigger the creative process and inspire the imagery that we perceive to be accurate in the 'universe' of 40k, you have nailed the ideas and the right balance between dark and light! not so bloodthirsty it makes it controversial yet by no means is it too fluffy or weak in influence, the faces are exceptional and convey the rugged nature of the men in the armor plate, it's nice to see they all aren't shaven headed G.I Joe replica's, I will be subscribing to this thread as even reading as much as I have to date I am now confounded with a mind filled to the brim with ideas for painting my own miniatures and techniques to replicate! thank you for sharing this with us all, all I can say is i hope you are a fastidious and quick worker as you now have a digital addict!
Sorry for the lengthy time for posting anything.
Truth is I have been preparing for a conventin in Gent, Belgium, called FACTS.
I will be there, and if you are around, come up, have a chat, look at my art and stuff. I got invited by the organizers (instead of having to buy a table like I thought I had to) along with names like Adi Gradov (Iron Man + Iron Man movies) and Clint Langley (You've seen his work if youve read Slaine, or Nemesis and other BL books he put his art on the front for..)
I'll be doing sketches and sell stuff like anyone else but just come say hi and I'll be happy to chat with you!
Oh and I also made a poster of the FACTS mascot, Faxxa, for this year, by request of the organizers.
More info on the way it looks (sort of) can be found here: http://www.facts.be/2011/f-a-c-t-s-2010-road-movie/ (though thats from last year and its going to be a little bigger bigger this year).
Updates of images are coming along, just busy with talking to printers atm. Looking at popping in some more updates newt week, after printers been arranged.
I'm working on the background for the terminator and spacemarine I put up earlier in this topic, and I begun the "counter image" showing what they are looking at aswell...
I love your painting; it's very smooth, which suits the not-so-realistic world of 40k. I also like the stranger elements, like the bell on the Chapter Master's back; it feels exactly right for the tone of 40k.
Those notes you wrote about Space Marine anatomy are a huge help for me; I like drawing marines, but I always felt uncomfortable with their profile in armor. So a huge thanks to you for posting it.
I rather like the blurr/not detailed edges around him in this pic.. Maybe you are just saving it in 50-25quality since its pixelated alittle.. But still it looks ok with it not detailed. Most pics you see on DA or such are always highly detailed. This kind of gives it a "i wish it was more detailed so i can see if he has medals etc", an "air of mystery" if you will..
Do you use a cintique or just a normal wacom? I dont use cintiques and iv always wondered how they fair compared to normal wacoms..
Do you use custom brushes? What size canvas do you work with normally?
Can you do some more creatures? You do paint humans and such so great id love to see you do a huge creature about to munch on someone!!!!

Added you on DA
Cheers guys,
Exiled, I paint them at a very hig resolution, but they will be finalized smaller then the preview I think, because there are five characters and a background, the size is that of a wraparound bookcover.
I currently use a Wacom Intuos4, but until recently I just used a Trust, it was good and I could have done this with that also, the tool isnt that important, the Intuos4 just ads a bit of comfort and a little more feeling to the strokes I never used a cintique and as far as I know there are so opposite feels on it that I wouldnt buy one until I tried one.
Some thinks its the best thing since the wheel and others claim it to be laggy and less accurate then it claims. I just dont know.
I use custom brushes, but 90% of the painting is done with a soft airbrush in Photoshop that is calledAirbrush Soft Sound 100, I paint mostly with opacity set to about 30% and build up the colour that way, but sometimes I just smack 100% opacity in there.
Canvas, I paint at 300dpi and usually at sizes around 5000x5000 pixels or somewhere in the range of 14x14inch to 20x20inch (30x30cm up to 50x50cm). Usually I paint in European A-sizes (thats papersize) and utilize either the A4 or A3 size for my canvas. They should be possible to find when you create a new document in photoshop.
I do that because I paint posters and such, but if I have work then the size can really vary from company to company and image to image.
Hope that helps.
A personal project of mine is to paint something with creatures soon, no worries...
I am doing some fantasy-related stuff right now (non Warhammer) and it will eventually lead me onto WFB-stuff... the first I'm doing is actually going to be Felix and Gotrek...
5000x5000 pixels
OMG.... Thats huge!!!
(no thats what she said jokes...because that is what she said!)
It didnt look like custom brushes but the airbrush surprised me.
Intuos4 is a nice tablet. I used the 3rd version at uni and currently just run a touch/bamboo. I was looking at the cintque ones but with 1500$ price tags, its definatly something that can wait.

I <3 your art. Cant wait to see more!!!
**Yay for more creatures and monsters!!!***
YEah, I used to think that 5000x5000 was huge also, but it really comes down to the resolution. I paint at 300 (or 600) pixels per inch and so in terms of printout it doesnt really become that huge. In terms of RAM it is huge though.
the soft airbrush is very usefull because it makes a very soft sploosh when used large, but if you use it as a detailbrush you cget a quite sharp line. Mainly because you cant see the blurriness on it when you view it at printsize.
TheExilEdArcHitECt wrote:I guess working with CMYK might make it less to save(mg/ram wise)..
but dayyymmm thats alot of color to print for a poster...
Actually, its not really that bad memorywise. Well, for me its not really that much more really. I work in RGB usually because that way I can use all the tricks in the book. And I have to calculate on the colours being slightly desaturated afterwards, but in general the difference isnt all that grand.
SylvanaSekNadin wrote:StudioColrouphobia, you should be working to Games workshop. Your Art is brilliant. It would be their loss not to have someone as talented as you.
Excellent work.
Thanks, we will see what happends in the future. I have some prospecting things to work on shortly so Im in no hurry to be feeling bad about lost opportunities
F.A.C.T.S. was amazing.
I sat next to Adi Granov, furthest out on one side of the table.
From left to right was:
Me, Adi Granov, Barry Kitson (SpiderMan UK, AD 2000 etc etc), in memoriam for Wim Oosterveer (Dutch comic artist that died in a motorcycle accident a couple of weeks before he was due to appear at FACTS), Romano Molenaar (Marvel and other stuff), Aleksi Briclot (Magic the Gathering, World of Warcraft), Nicholas Bournay (French comic artist) Keu Cha (Incredible Hulk, Hex), Aleksa Gajic (various things), Steve Dupre, LECTRR och ADAM (Belgian comicbook artists), Clint Langley (nuff said!).
These are Lunchsketches I made during the convention, they can be aqcuired since I still posess them. Just PM if your interested.
Cheers, I had a blast and it was good times. I didnt sell all the posters but thats okay, I can sell those through my webpage or next convention. The great time was talking to the other artists (Clint Langley is just a completely cool guy) and doing sketches for the crowd.
My favorite is the Khornate Sisters of Battle. I love pictures with conflicts and drama, it adds so much spice!
Especially their poses, its as if the heavy weapons don't weigh anything. And the lack of armor + the arrogance,
its like they have absolute faith in their new god.
This is the first run of a second illustration in the Ahadi series.
I have added a little digital white to this for clarity on the computerscreen, but this is just pass two of the pen-and-paper illustration I'm drawing.
Once I'm done with the pen and paper illustration It'll be available through my website (see sig) and I will paint it digitally as well.
I dont know which ones are inthere for sure, and sinc I havent received my copy I can only give you one example (that already is out of the NDA): this one-> http://1mpact.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d3af7pi

Noodling a little from scratch on this one. Altering colours and mood a little. I have really evolved a lot since I first started painting the Night Lord...
Left one is the new one. Yes there will be lightning...
Just so you know, there have been two regular updates and one "irregular" update on http://studiocolrouphobia.net/ since last time I posted here. Some 40k or powerarmoured, some not...
That's pretty ace! (though I think they changed the whole lightening thing to be lightening painted on their armour cos it didn't make sense for Night Lords but I love the effect, it looks awesome).
It wasn't in Black Crusade though. Can't believe you've not got your copy yet.

Well, in the end, whether it was used for the corebook or just for promotional stuff isnt up to me to decide (I get paid regardless) but glad you enjoyed the image. thanks for liking my art in general!
To keep up-to-date with it, the easiest thing is to check out studiocolrouphobia.net every Monday and Wednesday for regular updates, and just about all the time for more "irregular updates" of art.
I used to play 40k a looooooong time ago. I played mainly CSM/Daemons, but I had some regular loyalist marines also...just for the fun of it.
I am looking into begining again, my children are about the age to play so we're looking into either 4°k or Fantasy. Not decided just yet though.
My youngest want to play Orks because he likes the Stoompas (He's six), but my oldest wants to play dwarfes and I always wanted to play Skaven in Fantasy, so we will see..
Night Lords are full of awesomesauce, any good Night Lord or IG pics are gonna make me happy!
Nothing wrong with having a fantasy and 40k army And nothing warms my heart like seeing a stompa painted by a kid, they're just cute.
But seriously, you're stuff's awesome. My friends all love the tentacly dark mechanicus pic you did that's in Black Crusade, amongst the others of yours we've seen, like one of the most major Lord Captains in Rogue Trader (whose name I forget and can't be arsed looking up right now).

Mondaysketches are in... some more updates later this week!
It has a few new things related to 40k, be sure to check it out, but to let you see something, here is Angron!
"It was easy to see why others believed Angron always looked on the edge of fury. In truth, he looked like a man struggling to concentrate through epileptic agony. Lorgar hated the bleak, crude bastard, but it was hard not to admire his unbreakable endurance."
Someone posted the above quote from Aurelian somewhere on the net, I haven't had a chance to read the book because I don't own a copy, but I found this quote very fitting.

New post, more Primarchs..
Very cool... now if you wanted to be extremely cool, you'd do a sweet pic of Guilliman
Eventually.
I'm doing ALL Primarchs. I just am researching him, there is precious little in regards to his looks out there and as such it takes a while to compile ideas.
Cheers!
Hello, time for another blogpost on my webpage. This time the only40k related is a wip of a fallen Sororitas (my Ahadi-project). Tomorrow will be sketch-update and then there will also be an image posted right here in this topic.
Wow, thanks for linking those sites! your work is inspiring and i haven't done any art for quite a few years so my knack for it has waned over time, although recently I did a pencil sketch of my partners Samoyed and i was pleased enough with the result to get a bit of fire burning to do some more, although traditionally I always used paper and whatever medium i thought would look best, but now i'm being 'drawn' towards the digital style as it seems to offer a lot of scope for techniques and learning, my only major problem is i'm not very computer savvy and wouldn't know what to start researching when it comes to doing computer based art? but i shall venture into the web and see what i can glean while you keep inspiring me with your magical drawings!
Thanks nf, My post was not solely directed to the digital artists out there, but to anyone really. Everything of value, from a general learning and inspiration point, can be applied to any medium. But I am glad I could help!
really lovely work, I am impressed with Arbaal, and I got a kick out of the Electro pic, I'm a bit of a fan of the old school spidey comics and things from that era, and i actually have a few with him in them as the villian, I am eager to see who else turns up in the retirement village!
Cheers nerdfest, the Electro is being done on my sparetime. Right now I still have time for some of that so you'd be glad to know that I am continuing on it.
In the meanwhile:
"Carry on – Sketches will follow
Hello there,
Time for another update with images.
This time it is a littlescarce because I am saving up two images for free tutorials. One of those will come within the week, the other will take a little longer.
In the meanwhile, here is a speedpaint/quick study for Imperial Fists armour in sunlight.
This was done as part of trying to figure out lighting of an Imperial Fist for a figure in a commission..."
God damn!!
Realy nice pictures!! Being a Blood Angel/Flesh Tearer player the blood angel picture almost gave me some goosebumps. I just wished you would draw a picture of Gabriel Seth ^^
As much of a genius as ever. Really, not empty praise. This is good. I draw like a chimpanzee (in fact, Congo the painting chimp, see below, knocks me into a cocked hat at any time), so am not really qualified to comment, but this is visibly top-of-the-range stuff, and with a style like that you could transfer to still-lifes, WH Fantasy, portraits, anything. Blown away.
My god that is beautiful and moody! and such an interesting snapshot of marines too, not that i don't love the shooty bloody stuff but this is almost peaceful!
Automatically Appended Next Post: And lego 40k should become a reality :-)
Cheers Nerdfest,
Yeah, I agree, Lego 40k SHOULD become a reality. I would buy it before it hit the stores (coincidentally I have only pre-ordered ONE game in my entire life, and that was.....17 years ago...)
So here is a long awaited update to the blog. Got some stuff in there of interest, but since it's been a while I'm going to spoil one of the images right here.
Fantastic work, I promise as soon as I finish collecting all the models i need I will get some work from you! I don't think my life could be complete without some of your artwork on my wall in the cave!

what did you use to make these?
Thank you, I paint in Photoshop, using as Wacom digital pen and tablet.
I do and love art stuff... I have never done digital stuff. What is this sorcery you speak of?? Is it pricy and or hard to use? Is it like an actual pencil an paper with a fine tip etc?
Nerdfest- get a stasis-cask. Dampness of caves make art go bye-bye :p
Kal-El- Photoshop is pretty pricey, its a computerprogram designed to fix photographs for publishing, but it also works exceptionally well to paint and illustrate with.
There are less pricey programs out there-
Artrage, Painter (cost less)
Gimp (free)
Most people agree that Painter and Artrage are more like painting traditionally then photoshop (based upon how the program behaves).
ALL computer programs are a learningcurve though. It is a completely different medium.
It's like learning oils after mastering charcoal. You know the basics, you just need to learn how the material is behaving again.
Wacom tablets are really like using a pen on paper (the latest one even has the feel of it, though its a fine paper-feel).
There are cheaper alternatives. WACOM beats them all in quality, but my suggestions for someone starting out is a Trust or Odys graphic tablet.
Also, a good alternative (though about as expensive as a WACOM inuos, like the one I use) are Tablet PC's.
Check here for good review of proffessional grade tablet PC's:
http://enliighten.com/blog/asus-ep121-vs-fujitsu-st5112/ belw the techy writing, Daarken also has a video where he compare them proper.
Daarken has done conceptual work for Warhammer Online, illustrations for wizards of the cost, Fantasy Flight Games etc etc.
Congratulations on making AD-B's blog. Very impressive artwork, I think the Talos one may be one of your best yet IMHO (but that may be due to knowing the context) - excellent work as ever.
If you work in RGB how do you get them print ready, account for the colour profiling at the print house account for bleed etc, or do you turn them over to the client and they manage that part?
The reason why I ask is the stuff I manage for work we really have to alter the colour profiles quote a bit to make the image come out as expects.
The print-house I work with, a local printing house, is doing that job for me;
I have set my monitor to fit with theirs, so that anything that comes to them will look as I want it too when being printed.
I also seen the canvas version of two of my works, (from Deviant Arts canvas prints) and those where just to die for..they turned my digital art into something that looked like a traditional painting..
I have an HP true RGB screen with HD functinality.
Here is, in the meanwhile, a little first part of a tutorial on how to create a Primarch-illustration:
And here is one of the process-images from the blog.
For more of the process (and images of the process), and to find out what goes on in my head when I illustrate, head over to the blog and check it out.
The finnished illustration will be posted here once it is completed.
Is anyone reading these? I have no clue if it is even possible to answer to my posts.. would be nice to see a reply right here just to let me know
I've done some conceptart and a pitch-llustration for a Horus Heresy project recently.
Here is one of the three versions of the pitch-art

I got two previewimages below, and the fully painted, final illustration, is to be found on the blogpost itself (above link).
See if you can figure out who the two heretics/renegades below are before you read the blogpost....
Alternative Heresy storylines are popular, this particular one is a Guilliman Heresy and has it's origins fthe Bolter and Chainsword forum but I thought you might enjoy it nevertheless...
i just stumbled across this amazing thread, you sir are a very talented artist, i really love the sanguinor piece!
something i really liked seeing on this thread is nerdfests praises!! I've followed his army painting thread, and he's a miniature painting machine!! that's quite a badge of honor to get such accolades from him!!
So I think most people know my old "Sanguinius at the Eternal Gate" illustration. It is one of the most known of my pieces.
Whilst it is a great, iconic, illustration, it is also quite static.
I have wanted to do a more fluid and actionfilled version for a long while and finally I got the chance.
First, let me explain myself. Often, as a freelance artist,/studio, we find ourselves in heaps of work. This doesn't normally keep us from posting with atleast some form of frequency.
Lately, this has not been the case.
The reason is simple, I (David) teamed up with Aaron Dembski-Bowden for a project on the side called "the Road to Jove". It's nothing to do with Warhammer or 40k, but it has soaked up a lot of time.
If you want to know more about this project, check Aarons blog, or our own blog at http://studiocolrouphobia.net/, or just our Facebook pages.
For now, here is some more Warhammer stuff.
How about a non-shown Work in Progress? Personal work, not shown anywhere on our blog or twitter or Facebook, only on forums and only today?
Also, if you want to see another Preview, of a Primarch, head to our blog.
Hopefully there will be more WhFB and 40k coming through our studio shortly and if so there will be more updates heading this way.
Alright, since I got several notions (through various places and pm's) on liking the SM sketch I did this (hope this is okay, otherwise, powers that be, let me know)
If you pay with a tweet, you are allowed to download the full-sized space marine image, you can also use it to print for own usage only.
Please note that there is no money involved in getting the highres image, only a mention on social media.
If this is against the forum rules, please remove this post and let me know.
