Wow, thanks for linking those sites! your work is inspiring and i haven't done any art for quite a few years so my knack for it has waned over time, although recently I did a pencil sketch of my partners Samoyed and i was pleased enough with the result to get a bit of fire burning to do some more, although traditionally I always used paper and whatever medium i thought would look best, but now i'm being 'drawn' towards the digital style as it seems to offer a lot of scope for techniques and learning, my only major problem is i'm not very computer savvy and wouldn't know what to start researching when it comes to doing computer based art? but i shall venture into the web and see what i can glean while you keep inspiring me with your magical drawings!

really lovely work, I am impressed with Arbaal, and I got a kick out of the Electro pic, I'm a bit of a fan of the old school spidey comics and things from that era, and i actually have a few with him in them as the villian, I am eager to see who else turns up in the retirement village!

As much of a genius as ever. Really, not empty praise. This is good. I draw like a chimpanzee (in fact, Congo the painting chimp, see below, knocks me into a cocked hat at any time), so am not really qualified to comment, but this is visibly top-of-the-range stuff, and with a style like that you could transfer to still-lifes, WH Fantasy, portraits, anything. Blown away.

Yeah, I agree, Lego 40k SHOULD become a reality. I would buy it before it hit the stores (coincidentally I have only pre-ordered ONE game in my entire life, and that was.....17 years ago...)

Nerdfest- get a stasis-cask. Dampness of caves make art go bye-bye :p

Kal-El- Photoshop is pretty pricey, its a computerprogram designed to fix photographs for publishing, but it also works exceptionally well to paint and illustrate with.
There are less pricey programs out there-
Artrage, Painter (cost less)
Gimp (free)

Most people agree that Painter and Artrage are more like painting traditionally then photoshop (based upon how the program behaves).
ALL computer programs are a learningcurve though. It is a completely different medium.
It's like learning oils after mastering charcoal. You know the basics, you just need to learn how the material is behaving again.

Wacom tablets are really like using a pen on paper (the latest one even has the feel of it, though its a fine paper-feel).

There are cheaper alternatives. WACOM beats them all in quality, but my suggestions for someone starting out is a Trust or Odys graphic tablet.

Also, a good alternative (though about as expensive as a WACOM inuos, like the one I use) are Tablet PC's.

belw the techy writing, Daarken also has a video where he compare them proper.
Daarken has done conceptual work for Warhammer Online, illustrations for wizards of the cost, Fantasy Flight Games etc etc.
