Hi guys,
It's editing time for the initial post.
Don't like to see all those WIP pics anymore. They remind me of how much more work there is still to do. ^^
I will keep this blog up until the whole army is finished. So have fun with the stuff I'm uploading.
Cheers,

Had two hours of spare time yesterday and decided to assemble my Death company dreadnought. I opened up his claws a bit. Give him a much more menacing look. I also went for a very dynamic pose I think. He was also lucky to get some shiny parts. Hope you like him.

Awesome! I am really liking what you are doing with these. A couple of questions:
Where did you get that grim reaper looking bit? Likewise, where did those helmets come from that you have on the sanguinary guard?
39109
Post by: Enzephalon
The reaper banner is actually the banner of the Empire General from Warhammer Fantasy.
The helmets on my honour guard derive from Scibor Miniatures.

Sadly I can't take credit for the base of the dreadnought since it is the scenic base which is delivered with the kit.
But I did the other bases with corkboard, some sort of modelling granulate and sand.
I hope to finish something else soon. Stay tuned!

Hey guys,
Exams take a lot of time, so only little work can be done.
Here is recent creation. A twin linked assault cannon converted from the heavy bolter sponson and assault cannon bits from a bitz shop.
Don't know from what kit they derive.
Critic and comments are allways appreciated.

Very nice work here. I like the assault cannon option. Very nice. I kind of miss the spikes on the front though. I think they could have been incorporated in somehow through paint job alone but I see what you mean about looking chaosy.

They are not completely gone.
As I said they have not been glued on yet. So they are still an option.

Any ideas how to paint them?
Maybe they would look better on a DC rhino...

Hey guys,
I was very busy the last days.
Painted up my Death company, my Reclusiarch and the sanguinary priest. They are not 100% finished yet.
I will post pictures of them in the next few days.
Tried it with the DC but the night has come and the lighting is terrible.
But it's enough for the conversions I made.
Behold my Assault Terminators with a Sanguinary Priest in TDA.

The last two guys will be attached to another base and the priest will get a bare head instead of the helmet.

I was a little bit lazy concerning the tactical squad, because I do not field them so often.

Post by: Phantom
Thanks, also I know BA do not usually field tacticals due to more BA players focusing on assault oriented units, so do not feel the rush of completting(spell?) it.

Post by: taffiarti
that is a beautiful chaplain. I agree with all the comments about the model It is my belief that it is actually the best one they have ever produced.
As to your painting it is impressive! I love the alternating colour on the shin armour (grieves?). I note you said that you do not feel up to painting more advanced techniques. Take it from a painter recently in a similar position - you have no need to worry, so go for it! We'll all support you and the satisfaction is immense!
39109
Post by: Enzephalon
@Phantom
Indeed... Tacticals aren't really that popular with BA, but hey... Today a five man squad of tacticals won me a game. To be more specific. It was the Sergeant. He was alone on turn six. Survived the shooting of two Assault Cannons, making 5 armour saves, just to run into 3" range of the objective in my turn. Crawling there on his knees the last inches to be exact. ^^
It was really epic. I have to consider giving him another purity seal for this deed of duty.
@Taffiarti
Thanks for your cheering. I might give it a try. Although I think I will implement it on my Dark Eldar and not on my BA, just for coherency in the painting.

Hi guys,
Todays upload is my recently finished Sanguinary Priest and his buddy... the leader of my DC. Of course... There is no such thing as a leader of a squad of DC, rulewise. But I like the idea that a bunch of crazy nuts is lead into field by a even bigger maniac, refusing to die in several battles. ^^
Btw. The priest was a royal pain to paint. I really suck at painting this bone colour on the flat parts of the armour. Took me ages to get it right without major streaks from the brush, but I'm still not happy.
Another sidenote. The priest is one rare model in my growing army with no major conversion done. Besides the little chalice on his backpack. Fluff wise he carries a chalice with him but I do not like the idea or holding a oversized chalice in his hand like Corbulo. It is just silly to go to war with a cup in your hand.
Last thing to say. The banner will get a free hand motif if once I will acquire enough skill to do one.
Enjoy...
And do not hold back any comments or critic...

Some work in progress....
I converted and started painting my Librarian a while ago.
I replaced the dumb looking book with a hand and gave him a cool little banner.
And because I got bored painting my soldiers today I built me a regular Reclusiarch without TDA so I do not have to proxy him all the time with the TDA Reclusiarch... Which is kinda funny though. ^^

Yes. It looks very much like being a Templars shield, but it's just plain awesome. I had to have it on this guy!

I definetly can. And he will smack some faces. ^^

I'm really happy that you noticed it. I used the spare bolters of my Death Company to give my tacticals a little bit of Blood Angel flavour. ^^
I had to lie if I was saying that I know exactly where I got this bit from.
A.) It was part of a vehicle kit
B.) It bought it with a lot of other stuff from a bitz-store
I'm more tending towards variant A but I can't remember for the life of me. ^^ Automatically Appended Next Post: Btw. Any suggestions concerning which one I'm going to paint next? ^^

Hi guys,
Had another free day for painting so i finished up this Librarian.
I love this miniature and did only a minor conversion for gaming reasons (storm shield).
I messed up his glowing eyes. Will fix that later but I ran out of time.
How do you like him?

That' looks great! The eyes do need fixing up as you say, but otherwise he is very nicely done! I like that storm shield. Is it a Scibor one?

Yah... I know...
I ran out of time and just slapped some sloppy dots of paint into his face. I regret it cause now I have to fix it, but I'll manage that. ^^
The shield is from Scibor. The Templar shield set. It comes with this big one and two smaller ones. I wasn't sure about it at first, because some people might think it looks too "templerish", but you can do a lot with the right paintjob.

Hi guys,
FINALLY I got around painting my first vehicle ever (first tank to be true... not counting the attack bike).
It was a pain to even find out how to do it.
The thing is that I'm painting my infantry using washes quite a bit, which is not possible on a tank (at least I'm not able to do it properly ^^)
So I had to find a solution painting my vehicles without using GW washes, but somehow matching the tone of the infantry.
It literally took me months to finally sit down for two hours and try it out on several plastic parts.
In the end I achieved something which I would call a matching tone. ^^
To make a long story short. I hate painting vehicles and I'm no good at it.
Annoying thing is that I have five more to go. ^^
Have fun though.
Ps.: Did some minor conversion work on this model to properly represent the Lucifer pattern engines which make it a fast vehicle as you might know.

Second day of painting this week ... second tank finished.
I have to say it was a lot less annoying than the first one, now that I have my recipe.
Weathering and battle damage is still to come, but I have to practise that somewhere else first. ^^
Talking about the model itself:
It has some Fowrgeworld parts on it and I converted the weapons to fit the Lascannon/Twin linked plasma gun option from the codex.
Weapons are magnetized too.
Have fun.

Thank you for your kind response.
Speaking about the Assault cannon. It never underperformed for me. I allways run 2-4 depending on the list (2 on razorbacks, 1--2 Baal Predators).
They play havoc with light infantry and due to rending they are also able to harm light vehicles.
I also do like the amount of shots they pump out, rerolling to hit because of twin-linked.
I never leave the house without em.
You can't really compare them to the Las/ Plas variant (I field one of these as well every game), because they fulfill a different function in the army.
I field two Predators with Auto cannon/Lascannon and my bikes for the anti-tank. So one Las/ plas is enough for my needs.
Keep in mind that I do not play a spammy "uber-competitive" netlist and that I'm no WAAC power gamer.

Hi guys,
Something new.
I managed to finish this model.
It's a Sanguinary priest in terminator armour for my WIP assault terminator squad.
It's a conversion from a Space Hulk terminator and a few Grey Knight bits.
He is completely wysiwyg as he is swinging a power weapon. I decided to go for a staff because it makes him look much more like I imagine a priest of the 40k millenium.
Enjoy....

Hi guys,
First of all. This was intense.
I thought I could paint this thing in a days work. I've been proven horribly wrong.
Took me three days of painting.
25 hours of work I'd say.
Can't tell you how happy I am that it is finally finished. ^^
Some of you might have seen the unpainted conversion. (There are a lot of bits and forgeworld parts involved)
I have been told that it might look too busy, but now that it is painted I think it looks quite decent.
From the group shot you can tell that it will carry assault terminators to battle.
Since they are all veterans I thought it woud be adequate if the crew were also veterans. So according to the ne BA fluff I painted their helmets golden.
What do you think?

Nice paint job on the crusader. The overall model appears a bit too busy and I'm not sure about the top turret but overall still looks very cool. Is the extra armor a forgeworld kit?

Eggroll wrote:Nice paint job on the crusader. The overall model appears a bit too busy and I'm not sure about the top turret but overall still looks very cool. Is the extra armor a forgeworld kit?
Hi eggroll,
As a fan of your work I really appreciate your comment.
Concerning the turret. I wanted to have the guy with the book (it's a spare part from my librarian where I replaced it with a normal hand) stick out somewhere. It wasn't looking nicely using the hatch on the hull, because the multimelta was distracting from it. So I went for the turret with a hatch on top. No distraction anymore, and on the plus side it's also very unique. ^^
About the business. I do understand that people think that way, but if you had a look at my other stuff it fits my army. I like it to be over the top, because I think that's what 40k is all about. It doesn't take itself so serious sometimes. ^^
The extra armour is indeed a Forgeworld kit. It's a bit pricey, but I think it adds a lot to the overall appearence. Be warned though. It's an assload of work to straighten all the warped parts and to attach it properly to the vehicle, because you have to file of a lot of stuff that is in the way.

Thanks man, for your kind words.
Concerning your comment on the Sgt.
I built him before I was introduced to the magic of green stuff. That's why the head sits deep in the armour, and that's why he is looking up.
I wasn't so happy with it myself but if you look at him in real life you see him from a completely different angle and it looks more like he is looking at something terrible approaching from the skies, or as if he stands in front of a monstrous creature or a dreadnought.
But if I'm able to detach the head with minor effort I will reposition it.

I think your tank work is just fine. There is room for improvement, but that can always be said. if I suggested something it would have to be muting the smoke affects but in my mind that is a non issue. I think your tanks are a great first try and are more then ready for table top. I also love your LR, and as far as "busy" goes I have got to say these are Blood angles! There are baroque, psychos obsessed with imagery. So I’m going to have to say that you nailed it. Keep it up and I’ll keep watching.

My Furioso librarian namely.
I have him standing on my desk for over a year now. I thought it was time to paint him up to finally be able to field him.

I admit it. The statement isn't entirely true. You need a box of scouts AND a box of a landspeeder storm.
First things first. I was planning to use a landspeeder in one of my lists, but I do not like the look of it. It's just too small for my taste.
So I made plans to convert a landspeeder storm into and regular landspeeder. This left me with a whole bunch of scout parts, which is quite handy because I was planning to build me some scouts anyway.
Two flies with one clap.
Now I just needed to buy me a box of scouts to try to make the parts of the landspeeder crew work.
Well.... And this is what I have come up with.
Hope you like them. I have parts to build four more.
I think this is a quite effective kitbash if you are planning to build landspeeders + scouts, because you can get a lot out of them, and they look quite cool.
They are obviously WIP. A lot of gap filling/filing and painting is needed.
(The heads are fro Pig Iron Studios btw. Regular scout heads are aweful)

I painted two more today.
They are quickly done in comparison to other models.
And the more I paint them the more I think that the Pig Iron helmets are pretty awesome. ^^
This is my favorite so far:

Hi guys,
Today I present you some WIP pictures of the landspeeder.
Since BA aren't allowed to use the actual landspeeder storm I closed the doors and built me a regular speeder. It's bigger than a regular one but that is perfectly fine with me since I think the size and appearence of the regular speeder is quite stupid.
There is obviously still a lot to do (Liquid greenstuff will be used extensively ^^).
What do you think so far?

The scouts look amazing (spot on with the heads), really dynamic. That's an excellent conversion on the combi-melta for the sarge too! (More ideas to steal)
I like the closed in look of the land speeder - makes more sense than the open type.

Hi guys,
Today I painted the remaining three guys of this squad and I have to tell you... it was intense.
I started at 11 a.m. and was done around midnight.
It was worth it though. Finally I'm able to field a fully painted 10 men assault squad. The most iconic unit of every blood angel army.
Hope you like them.

They are a really 'stand out' unit and will look great on the battlefield.

Hi guys,
I finally painted my landspeeder. The second multimelta option (including a marine) isn't painted yet, though.
I consider the speeder/scout squad as my best kitbash/conversion to this point (not including single models like HQ).
It's fairly well executed me thinks, considering the fact that it was my first use of plastic card.
I hope you enjoy it!
Greetings, Tom

Hi guys,
This guy was one of my very first conversions. He's been sitting on my desk for over one and a half year. Mainly because I rarely field him.
Today I had the time to finish him.
Enjoy.

Hi guys,
I seem to have a run this week.
Another day another miniature.
Today I present you my second attack bike. I love these guys, although they let me down the last game. Probably bad kharma because I haven't completed them for so long. ^^
I hope you like them.

Hi guys,
Today I present you something different. A black templar. I haven't stopped painting blood angels by any means.
This will be a gift for my gaming buddy. He owns a beautifully painted black templars army, but I think he will appreciate it nevertheless.
Hope you like him.

Hi guys,
After an unplanned break I present to you my newest piece.
Finally I had the time to paint my second Predator. These badasses are my working horses. They are the backbone of every list I build. It's a shame that I haven't painted them earlier.
I forgot to add the dirt to the exhausts before taking the pictures though.
Hope you like it.

Hey.
I really appreciate your compliment, and it seems like my style of painting matches your taste in miniatures.
But I do not see myself near the standards of Eavy Metal by any means. I'm not using any fancy techniques, and my painting is very sloppy in places.
Thank you nevertheless.
I'm glad you enjoy my work.

This is for Evilcheese.
Some pictures of the army.
I forgot to include the Furioso scriptor in the picture of my 1750 army.
I have to say, that this is not what I'm usually playing, but it's my first fully painted 1750 points army that has no ridiculous composition, and makes at least some sense. ^^

Hi guys,
Long time no see.
Had a lot of stuff to do recently so I haven't been able to do much painting.
But today I found the time to finish my Vindicator.
It has been sitting on my shelf for quite some time now, because I rarely use it.
But with the rule changes of 6th edition I might field him more often.
He can be fielded as a Rhino too as you can see.
Enjoy!

Hey Dread....
This is for you.
; )
I'm really sorry for not uploading anything.
But working on my master thesis leaves close to no time for painting stuff, since I find it hard to concentrate after working in the laboratory all day.
Anyhow...
I grew a pair, sat down and painted my librarian today.
He was sitting on my shelf for too long but now he is ready for action.
I can equip him with a jetpack if I need too.
My favourite picture:
Do the evolution....
Librirtle, Librortle and Libroise.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I haven't been lazy by the way.
Since converting does not exhaust me at all I've done a lot of it instead of painting.
I built a 2000 points Dark Eldar ármy and started this squad of Sternguard.
They will all get the fancy bolters you can see on the first guy.

Hey guys,
Today I'm here to present you my version of Sanguinius.
It's 95% finished. Some finishing touches are still needed, but overall I'm pretty happy, especially since I'm not that experienced using green stuff.
The idea is not new, and the credit for using the Necron nightbringer model as a base goes to at least three other guys.
But the idea impressed me so much that I needed to have my own.
Paid about 50 $ for the nightbringer and the wings. A hefty price tag for a single model, but compared to the new Angron model of FW it's a bargain. ^^
So...
Tell me what you think before I slap some paint on it.

Love the shot of tri-librarians.

Hi guys,
Here's to you...
Sanguinius himself!!!
This is for sure my most expensive single miniature, and the one with the most difficult conversion work.
I'll have to touch up his wings, but in general I'm happy how he turned out.
Hope you like him.

Oh it's a hood on his head, that wasn't clear from the WIP pics.
Nice job, I'd love to have a Sanguinius model, but I think I'll be lazy and wait for FW to release one.

May I ask, what "battle mat" is that? I looks like a textured rubber, I'd like to know more about it if possible?

This mat is the best thing I have ever come across in this product segment.
The mat is from Zuzzy miniatures. It's a small business and your order may take a while to arrive. But it's worth it.

OK, I am going to ask a few dumb questions, and then I really am hoping that we can get to see your tactical squad.....
1) How do you paint a figure to completion when it is already glued together, OR do you use magnets to display it, and then paint it?
2) Your highlighting, do you do successive coats of paints, or do you use a brush to just highlight with a different color?
BTW, you have some excellent minis.
