My Waaagh is pretty well under way, but I wanted to start a P&M blog so that way I was not posting in the wrong area. (like I did the last time *doh*) Let me start by saying everyone that has contributed ideas to me has been very helpful, and my army is coming along nicely. I have a section of photos I started uploading, and I wanted to share my first real WIP project since I joined Dakka. My idea was to make a Fighta Bomma for an Apocalypse game I will be playing in July, but I wanted something that stuck with the theme I was going for with most of my army. Snakebite Orks, with ramshackle stolen vehicles, and maybe some other clans thrown in for added support. But when it come to Apoc models, I wanted to use a lot of big things, and nothing says big like Squiggoths. But no mere ordinary squiggoth would work for Boss Madgob, "He needs sumfin nasty". Then it hit me, Kaiju monsters and cheesy old sci fi style vehicles. My squiggoth is on the back burner till I finish my Bomma. And here are some pictures of what I have done so far.

The initial idea.

The top armor was added the next day.

As well as the bottom

Side armor was added two days later.

A side view of the ship.
Please feel free to post comments, questions concerns and I will try and keep everything updated as I go.

I love it.

Keep on posting, and I'll keep on watching. The only advice I have is that it looks to... Clean to be Orky. Strap a SCRAMJET to that baby and you'll be in business!

Yeah, haven't gotten a chance (and probably won't get a chance till this weekend to work on it some more. I did add lots of rivets and green putty welded areas to it. I was afraid it would be too clean, but now that I have added some more it should look better. Thank you guys for your comments and I will try to keep on updating regularly.

Okay, been working my butt off to add more stuff to my saucer and to upload these photos. Hard to tell from the pictures, but I added rivets to everywhere you see a black dot or a black line. I used incredibly small plasticard rod to do them.

Here is the bottom of the saucer with ventilation area, the doors from the top of a Rhino model, and the rockets from my Stompah as the propulsion system. I figured the orks really couldn't make a true zero G flying machine, so they went with the next best thing, STRAP ROKKITS ON IT!

Here is a side view of the saucer. Kinda hard to see, but you get the idea.

Alright, I did a litle bit of work to my army, and wanted to share what I had done. Thanks for staying interested, those of you who check my stuff.
This is the right side of the control console for the saucer.

Here is a top view of the console

The left side of the console

The zzap gun mounted on a piston

Side image of the saucer with it's gunn

Here is a pic of the squiggoth I am working on for the same Apoc game. He will be finished when I am done with the saucer, which should be soon. Prepare the asian men to run because here come "MECHA WAAAGHZILLA!

That's a BIG friggin' squig! Love the saucer too. I can picture it spinning like the stereotypical flying saucer, except with madly whirling Orks because someone forgot to make the control pod be able to remain stationary.

Post by: Frawg

Thanks hungryp, yeah that was my though, was it kinda just spun out of control. One the smoke effect is added to the rockets, it will really give it that look of being a whirling dervish. Mecha-waaaghzilla is actually as tall as the GW stompah model, and I haven't finished putting the howdah on it's back. Thanks for posting.

Alright, did a little airbrush and a little painting work today on the saucer. Here are some pics. Then I sleep.
This is my Ork Zzzap gun for the saucer

Here is the bottom of the saucer after the airbrush base coat. Very Shiny

And here is the top of the saucer

And here, on a not really related subject is my "counts as" Zaggstruk" Say HERRO to The Waaaghmachine!

Not the best picture in the world of the Waaaghmachine, and now that I know how to take pictures better, I will upload a good one of him. Thanks again for peeping me.

Yeah Obsidian, I am working on sort of a movie themed army. Flying Saucer, Mecha Waaaghzilla, my new trukk I just got is done up like something from Mad Max. I'll see if I can take some better pictures of Waaaghmachine.

Thank you sir. Yeah, the dakka for Waaaghzilla is a little light right now, but I have still yet to put more on him, not until I am done with the saucer. Since he is a gargantuan Squiggoth he will have 2 Super Lobbas and 2 twin linked big shootas. I figure the Supa lobbas in the fortress on his back and the two twin linked big shootas could go on his left side around his arm, or shoulder mounted, something like that.

Okay, posting a pic of the Waaaghmachine I took this morning, if you want to see all the other ones of him, feel free to nose around my gallery. I have a lot more pics up there, that I haven't posted here.

As always, thank you all for visiting, and I will continue my progress to impress.

By themed, do you mean based around Waaaghmachine? Because that would be a no. He is just an interesting conversion that fits the role of Zzagstrukk very well. The majority of my army is snakebite orks, but since when a Waaagh is called Orks of all tribes band together, I am going to have a 30 man squad of Goff boys with Slugga and choppa, a Bad Moon Mega Nobz squad, Flash Gitz, and a Speed Freaks bike squad. The only real theme to the army is that a lot of inspiration comes from movies I watch. Hence Waaaghmachine and Mechawaaaghzilla. Or in this case 300. My TankBusta squad (I actually have 10 now need to post those pics too).
THIS IS SPARTA!

Just wait until my friend buys me a dreadkinght from the Grey Knights army, cause he is going to become Morkatron. Take a wild guess who he is going to look like. That will be the Dredd Boss for my Dred mob. Feel free to look at my gallery images for more pics I haven't posted, thanks for all the suggestions and comments guys. Time for me to get to work.

Fantastic, glad I could inspire. Yeah my next Squiggoth is going to be made from the LotR Mumak of Harad. I would like at least three before the Apoc game, so I can do a herd. Was trying to find a large enough King Kong or Mighty Joe Young to make into an ape like squiggoth. Haven't found anything yet. Just remember, people always make ork conversions that look bad because they make them look like junk. Orks have an entire caste dedicated to nothing more than mekaniks. They might cobble something together out of scrap and other vehicles, but that is ramshackle not junk. I had a hard time making conversions at first cause I kept making them look too junkie. I will post my new trukk, you will see what I mean.

So I only got the pilot painted last night. Kinda slacked off, considering it was my last day off. Won't be able to paint anything till Tuesday, but I figured I'd leave you with some pictures for the weekend.

His big red button pushing side, and snakebite tattoo

Ard boyz nob Mek Killa. Yes that is a sentinel foot, which he ripped off after he killed 2 in close combat.

It is welded to his shoulder pad, making it easier to lift.

Dok Skrag and his hydraulic powered syringe

Hes da one dey call dokta feel good

Three shots of my tank huntas. I figured they stuck with a more traditional way of doing things. They use rokkits on sticks and shields to hunt the metal squiggoths they see on the battle field. Each one keeps a piece of a vehicle they kill. THe tank hamma was one of the hardest but most rewarding conversions.

Thank you schank, coming from a fellow Warboss that means a lot. Yeah I never really intended to do a squad of tank bustas, but that first one in the lineup had me hooked after that. They busted a Blood Raven tank open on Monday, looks like 2 boys are gonna be holding scab red shields. Started mapping out my Bob-omb dredd. Hope your ready for this one.

Awesome cant wait to see your Bob-omb dredd come to life. Thats pretty much how I've been putting together my ork mob. Didnt make a list at fist just started painting what I thought would be fun to pain. So far it looks like I'm gonna have a 'eavy armor/ mekinized mob. My idea in the beginning was a speed freak type army. Not so much the case anymore.

Damn right. Well, unfortunately I have to put the fylin saucer on hold. Until I can buy one of the new flying stands from GW, I can't work on it. I noticed after I painted yesterday that I had knocked 4 rivets off one side. *curses*. So nothing will be done on it until next week. Stupid 17 dollars for a clear piece of plastic. So, I've decided to work on Mecha Waaaghzilla and possibly come up with a conversion for Mad Dok Grotsnik. I am thinking something along the lines of Frankensteins monster. Patched together from different things. Hope it turns out as well as what I am picturing in my mind. "Alright grots, 'and me dem tools. We can rebuild him, we 'ave da teknology."

Waagh Madgob @ 2011/04/18 16:24:40

Post by: Anvildude

Wait a second. So, you're basically scratchbuilding your saucer, your 'zilla, and a bunch of your army... and you're going to buy a flying base? Are you mad?

If you must have the 'clear plastic', get some plexiglass from your local craft or hardware store for, I don't know, maybe a couple bucks for the amount you need? Or make a diorama-type base, covered in scrap and tiny squig-cows, and use some heavy wire to suspend the saucer over it. (Or a clear blue plastic cup, centered, as though it's the 'beam o-light' coming from the bottom of your saucer.)

Now theres an idea, scratchbuild an old rhino, with a guardsmen or a marine in the top hatch looking up and have the blue cup sitting over them as if they are captured in the light. off to the side have a few grots sneaking up on the rhino bearing some really wicked looking poisoned blades. the poor blokes are so caught up in the light effects that they don't even see the sqeeky deff that is headed their way.

You know what, you're right, and I kinda feel like an ass for even contemplating buying one. Okay, so a base built out of hard board, roughly the same shape and size as a flyer base. Next, I have some clear plastic that is pretty sturdy, I make that into a cone, cover it in "Golden Gel Mediums" Hard Gel, with a bit of blue ink mixed in to give it an eerie movie abduction look. I build a small radar dish on the bottom of the craft to count as a Lift Droppa, and I add either a squig or an imperial guardsman being abducted by it. Thank you for verbally knocking some sense into me. Give me a day, (one more night shift to work. 12 hours blech), and then I will have some time off to work on it. Gonna spend all night mapping this thing out while I work. Now I just need to look around the house and see what I can use to make a radar dish. I need something sturdy.

So, I can do you one better for my flying stem. A guy I work with designs and builds and maintains specialized salt water fish tanks. He has one that is 6 ft deep by 4 foot wide in his living room. He told me he works with acrylic tubing all the time, and that he could design a clear tube, roughly 1/8 of an inch thick that was about 9 inches tall, and with a clear square stand at the base for support. He has all the stuff lying around his house. He told me he could even rig 8 LED's in the top to make the whole thing glow, and that he would do it for free, and that he would have it ready by Friday. Man, some people deserve so much more than they get. I barely know the guy, but I think he is as enthusiastic about his hobby as I am about mine, and hence the generosity. See, more people in the world need to play 40K. Anyway, now that I am done standing on my , Time for some sleep. I am still holding off on the saucer till I get that pimpin stand from that guy at work, but I will be working on some more stuff. Plan on painting a few models and posting them, working on my Bomb-omb deff dred, for me and Schanks competition, and possibly even working on that Grotsnik conversion I was thinking about. Anywa, time for sleep. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

It could. I contained fun dip, and the cap, which looked like the plug with a fuse sticking out of it, had the sweet suckin stick for gathering the sugary treat. It could still work. I actually have 2 of these, one has candy in it, the other doesn't.

On a side note, the guy that was designing the acrylic cylinder for my saucer will have it ready by tomorrow. I doubt he is putting any LED's in it, but regardless, I will have a pimp 8 inch stand for my saucer to stand on. Time to paint a couple of squig cows.

Well, here is some more work done on Dredd-edd. The two arms you can see, have been made out of plasticard and are surprisingly sturdy. Post by: Frawg

Well, thank you everyone for staying interested, and bearing with me as I work on such a small time frame every week. Fathering and working full time is rough. The guy cutting the acrylic tube is an for telling me he would have it ready last friday, and yet I am texting him now, reminding him to bring it to work. And yet he is a saint for being nice enough to do this for me for free because he sees my passion for my hobby just like he has for his. Fortunately I have the weekend off, so I can finish putting together my Dredd-edd and hopefully continue working on the saucer and the stand. Wonder if my electrician buddy can rig 8 tiny LEDs into the top of the stand and make it glow. Rofl, who am I kidding, the man is the patron saint of all things electronic, of course he can.

On a side note, I wanted to ask an opinion of all the Ork players out there. Mad Dok Grotsnik fascinates me, and his ability to give anyone a cybork body makes him amazing. I think he may become a mainstay in my army, but the real question is, do you think it would be worth it to give my Stormboyz, including Zaggstrukk, the cybork upgrade. I figure 14 stormboyz, led by zaggy zag, that can deepstrike and assault, they have 6+ saves and a 5+ invulnerable. They lose D3 on the deep strike charge, but even if they lose 3 they stay at fearless, and they have the hitting power on the charge to wipe out a unit, they've done it before. What is the verdict? I love the idea of a unit of robotic orks dive bombing out of the sky just to put a hurtin on someone, and the modelling ideas are driving me nuts.

Waagh Madgob @ 2011/04/28 16:32:23

Post by: Anvildude

Hmm. You know, I've never seen Cybork Stormboyz? I'd say proxy it for a game or three, and see how it goes. One of the biggest issues with Stormboys seems to be how they're a 'one-hit wonder', dying too quickly to be of use anywhere else on the table, but Cybork might be able to fix that.

The same could actually be said of the Deffcoptas.

Actually, I wonder... Yeah. Woah. Technically, it's possible to give Orky vehicles Cybork with the Dok!

Waagh Madgob @ 2011/04/28 19:32:37

Post by: Frawg

@anvildude Yeah, I noticed that my Stormboyz have died in every game I have played, and the only one to survive through to the end of the game is Zaggstruk. Vehicles can't have bioniks because they don't have wound statistics. Warbikers, Warbuggies and Deffkoptas could take it. Interesting thought though, and really for 5 points, the upgrade is really worth it.

Waagh Madgob @ 2011/04/28 19:38:18

Post by: Baalirock

I agree w/ Anvildude, I think that's something worth trying out to see how it goes. Zaggstrukk already has a Cybork, so it could certainly help to give the rest of his squad a little much-needed survivability as well. My gut tells me that they'll still be a bit too frail to take on more than one unit, but I could be wrong. Let us know how they work out for ya.

I've only run Grotsnik once or twice, and I used him to give Cybork Bodies to a small squad of Meganobs who he then ran with. That worked out ok. I like the Stormboy idea, and I REALLY like the Deffcopta idea. I may have to write up a new list.

Waagh Madgob @ 2011/04/28 20:09:05

Post by: Frawg

Yeah, Bikers gain no benefit from it, but deffkoptas and other units with no real armor would really be able to kick some butt. My tankbustas is another unit that bites it really early. Fortunately I have a friend that runs a real good army, and is always trying out lists on me and with me and would be willing to let me play test a unit without having to have the actual unit. I really think that if deployed properly, Waaaghmachine and his unit of Flying Grunts could be a force to be dealt with. Assault one unit, wipe them out, and then use your consolidation to move closer to the next unit, and then get your possible 24" charge to the next unit. Stormboyz are highly underrated, and now I'm beginning to think they are about to prove their worth in my army.

On a side note, I meant to show this to everyone, since I will be converting a dreadknight into a looted ork vehicle and making him look like Megatron from Transformers, I wanted to kinda build on that idea as well, so the first of my Decorkticons is going to be breakdown. Gonna field 3 as a unit of Killa Kans.
Should go from this

To this

Let me know your thoughts, and remember, if you can't beat em WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

Hmmm, Cybork Deffkoptas, and Warbikers...... gotta try this one this weekend. I'll let you all know how it goesl.

The warbikers, exhaust clous save is better, granted template weapons can still get them, but seems like a useless upgraded. Deffkoptas is good. Everyone keeps talking about Grotsnik not being any good cause he has to always move towards the nearest unit.. I'm sorry, I thought we were playing Orks, not panzy oomans. We's ORKS, if we ain't charging, den we ain't krumpin. And why you an ork if you ain't krumpin sumfin?

Oh, on a side note that guy brought the tube. Man, it transmits light so well through it. It is almost hard to describe what it looks like when light is passing through it. Should look great, the problem is though. It is friggin huge. 12 inches tall and almost 4 inches around. He cut the top at a 45 degree angle which it perfect, but the saucer will be so high up. Maybe I am being overly critical. Anyone have any idea how tall the flying stems are for the Valkyries and Stormravens? I can't seem to find info on it any where. That would help me figure out what I need to do with it. I will post a picture when I get back up. Night/morning all.

The only tricky part of that comes from fast vehicles. If your opponent knows what he's doing, it's all too easy for him to use a flacon or devilfish to lead Grotsnik away from the rest of his troops. The problem is mitigated somewhat if you put Grotty in a Battlewagon, though. I certainly don't think it's a big enough downside that I'd never consider using him.

Since it's apocalyse game, the height thing shouldn't matter all that much. Your opponent can still tell where the saucer's supposed to be, and you can even call it fluffy to say that the flyboy wanted to soar that much higher over the battlefield.

So how are you planning to convert a Kan to make it look transformer-esque? Are you gonna throw some trukk wheels on the shoulders or something? That could be pretty cool...

Waagh Madgob @ 2011/04/29 18:11:56

Post by: SebastionSynn

like he said, it's an apoc game so the height of the stand isn't really an issue unless your going to a GW tourney, and your NOT going to a GW tourney with a flying saucer as a "counts as" bomma, they'd lynch you before you got ten feet inside the doors.

anyways, the flight stand for the Valk and Storm is around 6 inches tall, but since your model doesn't come with a flight stand just as this model also does not come with a flight stand, you can get away with it.

and even if someone did have a problem with MY stand which is also around 12 inches tall, i could very easily point out the fact that the Valk and Sotrm stand is a '+' bit on it's tip and the FW nightwing wasn't setup for that format, it has a single hole set up for a peg system, so i couldn't use the Valk/Storm flight stand without serious modification anyways, which would make the NightWing sit higher as well. so go with your stand as is and have FUN, cause in the end that's all that matters.

Baalirock wrote: So how are you planning to convert a Kan to make it look transformer-esque? Are you gonna throw some trukk wheels on the shoulders or something? That could be pretty cool...

I plan on actually taking apart the matchbox car and usiing parts from it, and then the rest will be made from spare bitz and plasticard. I want them to be the size of a killa kan, so I am keeping them small. That is why I chose smaller ones from off the transformers wikia site. I get a little fan boy when it comes to conversions and stuff, so I have a tendency to do my research.

I will be fielding Grotsnik in a BW with my supa nobz, which is a squad of 5 all with eavy armor and cybork bodies, 2 PK's, 2 BC, and a Waaagh banner, plus a mek for the KFF. They use the Deffrolla to close the distance and start the pain, and then pile out (or get ejected out due to an explosion like in my last game ) and finish bringing the pain. This squad with a warboss has worked amazing things. I'm talking smoking holes in Land Raider Redeemers, and whole squads of marines dropped, 2 Thunderwolf lords, and one of them assault drednoughts dropped. Not all in one game of course, but they always prove their mettle in any battle.

As for the base for the saucer, I have some clear plastic I might be able to make into a temporary stand for the time being. I am contacting my friend and going to see if he can custom build the stand/abductor beam. Need it to fit specific standards. Figure if I give him 2 weeks to work on it and throw a little "scratch" his way for supplies, he would be more willing to get it done, and I would then know it would work. I think I'll ask him to rig the lights up in the bottom too. I really want this thing to be one of the 3 pinnacles of my army. It is going on a display shelf for most of the time, so I want people to come over and be blown away. Fortunately I have enough stuff to work on, and enough time till July to get the whole thing knocked out. So long as people on Dakka are willing to be patient and stick with me while I work, I will continue at a steady pace. Anyway, time to get a shower and then continue my dredd-edd. Might post something tonight. Remember, alls fair in love and Waaaaaaaagh!

So, I worked my butt off last night to finish up a majority of the Dredd-edd. I still have to put the rivets on the armor plates, and give the driver his special hat. I did want to ask peoples opinion about the driver. I like the body I have, but should I use the arms with the range finder from the battle wagon sprue, or my personal favorite, the "Drive me closer so I can hit it with my sword" arms? Let me know what you think. Anyway, here are some more pics.

As always, enjoy and please feel free to leave feedback.

I think you should turn the "choppa" (the Deffkopta blade) around the other way - I'd want to hit things with the spiky bitz! (Imaginative use of the Deffkopta blade by the way!)

Which is funny you say that, because it started out as a Bomb-omb candy dispenser that was turned into a deff dred or dred-edd.

Actually you can't see it on the giant choppa, but I shaved down the edges so that the side he is swinging is sharp. Hard to tell from the pic. It looks like it functions more like a meat clever than a sword. Yeah, I plan on doing Ork luigi sticking out of the top, grot mario hanging onto the key, and snotling toad down there pushing the ball of fungus. I should model a pink squig like princess. Rofl. Anyway, found my wife's tiny little hole punch she said I could use, so now I can do rivets in like 1/3 the time it would normally take. Should start working on the placement of them all and then painting tonight after my daughter is in bed. Hard to work while she is screaming at me for snacks and asking what I'm doing every few seconds. Should be posting something tonight.

Well I finished all the rivets, and really nothing else. Took an unbearable amount of time. Will probably prime it tomorrow, and paint when I get a chance. I know I won't' be finished, but at least I'm still making progress.

I will be working more on it tonight, and tomorrow almost all day. My wife will be working, so I get all the free time I need while she is there. I promise on everything that is orky, I will post some pics tomorrow.

Okay, so I worked my butt off last night. Not only did I get my Halo: Reach weekly and all of the dailies done, but I also got some stuff painted. I did run out of enchanted blue, so I couldn't finish the driver or the key turning grot. Going out to get some today. Here is what I've done so far.

Here is a pretty good image to show most of the body.

Here is one of the rear

One of the side

And the last one is of the driver, I have to say I am a little disappointed with this picture. Thought it came out better before I uploaded it. You get the gist though.

Luigi was always my favorite, and he got no respect, no chicks, no credit. The indignity. So I decided to put him in charge, and have the grot be mario. Gonna run to the hobby shop down the street and get some blue so I can paint their pants.

Oh, I wanted to ask if anyone has any suggestions. I mean, I like how it is coming along, but I just can never really tell if it needs a few finishing touches. Maybe make the armor more worn down, or add some black "soot" to the flamer?

Same I have always like Luigi more than Mario. But as far as the painting. Maybe some rust on the teeth where the rivets are at.Or maybe an oil leak or crack in the hull some where.

Thanks Shank. I'll add some rust around the rivets, and have the paint peeling off, I did the same effect on my stompah. Oh, yeah I wasn't finished painting the ork driver. I posted it just to give an idea. I haven't finished the skin, the straps, pants, or teeth. Sorry about that. Well, now that lunch is done, let me see if I can hit the hobby shop before the wife goes to work.

So, I went by the hobby shop and picked up a fresh pot of chaos black, and enchanted blue. I can finally finish the dred-edd. As I was leaving I decided to look at the slim pickings in the ork section and what do I see? A pair of vintage 1993 ork Mad boys looking back at me. Price $6.00. This is fantastic, I love having a mix of old and new models in my army. one is wearing a uniform like a stormboy, guess which unit he will end up in. The other, oddly enough is dressed like Santa Clause. How weird. I remember someone designing a Santa for their ork army *cough Prototype cough*. You want it, it is yours man. He has the fur lined jacket and hat with the puff ball on the bottom. Bizarre.
Here is a link to the pictures, they are ork #4 and #15. Trust me when I say the second sooooooo looks like Santa.

Prototype, I don't know, do you have any stormboys, old ones are awesome. either previous edition or the first edition? Stuff like that is always cool, I have a few vintage orks in my army, I like to mix different generations of models into my armies to add some real variety. Let me know what you have.

Hadn't really thought of objective markers yet. Guess I need to come up with some of them too.

Thank you, this is coming from the guy who built the battle wagon school bus. Love your work man. really impressive stuff.

Oh, I did find a "shot glass" if you can call it that. It will work for the flying stem for the UFO. 6 inches tall, 3 inch diameter. Should be prefect. I plan on going back to work on the UFO tonight. I need to make a pulp sci-fi ray gun that is kinda satellite dish shaped, to function as the Lifta Droppa Traktor beam. I have a pretty good idea of what I want it to look like. I may wait a day, I feel kinda burned out after working every free moment I have around the Dred-edd. Maybe I will just paint a Nob or something tonight, just to relax.

Putting an OOP Madboy who looks like a stormboy on his base right now. Built him a kustom backpack and arms and now waiting on the superglue to dry so I can add modelling flock to the stem and make the smoke effect I am so fond of. Will post pics soon of my stormboy squad.

now you have luigiork, and mariogrot, and the extralifegrot, along side the dred-edd bomb-omb there's only two things missing.

Imperial gaurd Goombas, which can be done from the commisar models and king goombah himself, using a carnifex model.

Post by: Frawg

I was working on starting a Flashgitz mob last night, and as I'm putting the first member of the squad together I realize I want to paint them up like a friends Ork army called the "Purple Pirates" I realized that this works well with the fluff I had built up in my head of Madgob gathering orks from all different clans because they just don't have enough snakebites for a true Waaagh! I remember reading somewhere that this happens a lot in a lot of cases in which a Waaagh! is being called because orks are simply attracted to each other psychically or by something else. So I think what I might do, with other peoples permission, is add some of their ork clan to my own. Not sure weather I want a full squad of them, or just a few to mix in with the rest. I know that if Schank says it is okay, I would like to make as many Brazen Klaws as I can to add into my army, possibly a mob of 12. Love the paint scheme. Very cool stuff. Anyway, back to painting.

The only thing I am trying to figure out is, what I am going to field them as. I already have a 12 man 'ard boyz squad (the guy with the sentinel foot is the Nob). Maybe as my Mega Nobz, that way I can also give them bioniks thanks to Grotsnik and they will be as tough as terminators, and look like them too. What are you fielding them as.

Waagh Madgob @ 2011/05/10 15:52:10

Post by: schank23

I'm fielding mine as nobs in 'eavy armor. I'm making use of the Warboss and Graz special rule to where you can field them as troop choices. Gonna build 2 full squads of 10. I know it will be costly but they do a number on my brother-in-laws necrons. They only armies I really fight right now are necrons, orks, and marines. But I plan on taking this army to its limits. When I get more done I might split them up and make them part of specialized unit. Like "Da Hammer will be the Nob for my tankbusta squad later on. So even the army list is a wip for now till the whole hoard is complete.

Waagh Madgob @ 2011/05/10 15:57:59

Post by: Frawg

Alright, well I would like to field mine as Mega-Nobz. I refuse to buy the metal ones. So, A Meganob with TL shoota and PK will work just fine. I build my army, just basically whatever I find cool is what I build. I would like to eventually have one of every unit, but that requires a lot of overtime at work to buy them all. So, anyway, now that I am done rambling. I will field them as a unit of MegaNobz. I have 4 that I know of, and possibly a 5th or 6th lying around. I used the Black Orks for my Nobz in Heavy armor, I will post some pics in a few minutes, so I need to make sure they are a little bulkier than the others. Not that they won't stand out with the striking paint scheme and all. Thinking about making some of them with Powa axes and things, kinda break up the monotony of the TLBS and PK. Maybe a Thunda Hamma, stuff like t hat. I will steal some weapon combo ideas from the Space Wolf Termies, since they can use like any friggin weapon in the game in a single termie squad.

so ok, but to add mine in you'll either have to wait until i start painting them and then i can tell you what i used or just paint them up as bad moons in any way you like, but if you use a vehicle of any kind with my bad moons it can't be a full GW kit. It has to be modified in some way to make it "diffrnt", know what i mean.

Same thing. I would prefer to see your paint scheme.

My thing is this, if I like someone's scheme (Schank) or like the fluff or theme of the army (my friend Roy) then I ask them if I have permission to copy. So get crackin on some minis and then I will ask if it is cool.
Time to head to the hobby shop, forgot to grab purple while I was there the other day, and you can't paint the "Purple Pirates" something non purple.

Purple Pirate flash git

2 Snakebite boys

2 Goff boys

and 3 of Madgobs personal bodyguard of Nobs

So, there you have some more of my mob. Sorry if this thread is so pic heavy, but I found most people don't browse through a gallery. Anyway, will post again later today if I get anything else done.

Very Nice Black Ork conversion. Me like. Solid weathering effect also. I might do a light Devlan Mud wash over the yellow just to dirty it up a bit so it flows with the rest of the armor. Other than that very nice.

I actually meant to dirty up the yellow as well as add hazard stripes, thanks for pointing that out, I forgot. The weathering and rust is actually just foundation orange over black, and then boltgun metal drybrushed over it. Real simple technique.

Awesome! I dig the rusty, unpainted look of the armor on those nobs. The purple pirates are full of win, too. The world needs more purple orks!

In my head, I imagined my snakebite orks being from a planet a lot like Catachan and consisting of mostly jungle and as such it rains a lot and they don't really care about upkeep of their weapons. That is also why all the bases are brown with a gloss varnish and moss flock. I am about to start back on the saucer, time to start researching how to build a convincing looking radar dish that will also allow me to use the brass rod as a support weight. I know plasticard will be a big part of it, it is just a matter of keeping it from getting too large and outrageous while still functioning as a stand while I wait to install the LEDs in the base. Anyway, time to create, where'd dem grots go?

Thank you NecronBender. I love your slurm machine. My wife bought me a can for christmas. Not as good as I had hoped. So, I have been beating my grots against a wall to get them to help me figure out how to do the radar dish on my saucer and it finally hit me last night. You see I tried doing a circle of plasticard and then turning it into a cone, but that was lame, so then I tried thinly cut rectangle overlapping. Once again lame. Then a surge of genius went through me as I watched a guy at work open an umbrella. Ah yes, the ever useful triangle. So, when I get some time to work on it after these 5 12 hour shifts, I will be making a radar that is basically an umbrella. Fear my mighty Lifta Droppa Umbrella. Also, not sure if anyone called dibs on this yet, but I AM SOOOOOOO LOOTING THIS!

Here is dialogue that ran through my head after I saw this.
Waaaghboss Madgob: "Wot is dat?"
Dokta Orkenstein "I don't know, but it's extremely deadly."
Madgob "Wot?"
Orkenstein "*sigh* It's dead killy."
Madgob "You fink we can loot it?"
Orkenstein "Maybe if you don't damage it too badly."
Madgob "Hur hur hur, let's see wot we can do."

Yeah Dokta Orkenstein doesn't talk like an ork, that is because he took a bolter round to the brain and he never dug it out and now he thinks on the same level as a human, but with all the qualities of an ork. He has become an extreme masochist and enjoys experimenting on himself as much as he does on other orks. When I get a chance I will make up Orkenstein as my counts as Grotsnik. Hoping the kustom powerklaw and orge body parts I have work well with what I have in my head.

your a day late and a dollar short. first thing i thought of when i saw that thing two days ago, was that Clan Moulder, and Clan Skryre would have a lot of fun with it. thats what gonna be so cool about doing 40K Skaven, is that the clans will have finally laid aside (most, not all) of their animosity towards each other and started to work together. So imagine this thing done up Rat Ogre style, and with Warpstone's on it.

There is nothing like a little friendly competition. Smack talking is what started the competition between Schank and I, and look at the two awesome models that came out of it.

thanks for the vote of confidence, but Teek and Arakasi outdo me every day of the week. I can only aspire to be as good as they are. still, i think it should be interesting to see both versions, One that's been touched by a Big Mek, and another from the twisted minds of Clan Moulder and Clan Skryre.

Hell, I plan on buying two, one for my orks and one for my Dark Eldar. Haven't started on them, they begin after this July Mega Monster Battle Jam 2011! These over time shifts I have been working are going to my 40K fund. I am getting a dreadknight from a friend to convert into Megatron (Morkatron), but in order to do it I need to buy another Deff Dredd. To finish Waaaghzilla I am going to need another battlewagon, and then the Talos, and possibly a box of stormboys. Fortunately every extra day I work is roughly $230, so one or two days a month will keep me up to my elbows in models. *clink* BRILLIANT!

Dont let it get you down Sebastion. Just do what the orks do. Find some unsuspecting 'umie and loot his stuff. Or my favorite place to get suff, besides Artsoldier35, is ebay. If you can pay close attention to when the bids are closing you can get some nice stuff for uber cheap. I've got 3 killa kan off there minus legs and ranged weapons for $5 for the lot. Also have gotten this a few times, the storm boy arms for 99 cents. So its a cheap way to get bitz just have to have patience.

Also, I have been working for this company for 5 years, and the company I work for is a pretty big company. I also have to work a 12 hour shift in order to get that. My job is basically weight lifting for 12 hours so by the time I am done working my arms are so sore I can hardly lift a paintbrush. I did a shift last night and worked for basically 2 people, I think I ripped and sprained at least 2 muscles in every part of my body. on the plus side I could also bench press a gaming table while we play.

welcome to the party Kracker, it's unusual for me to beat you into an Ork blog thread.

Anyways, yeah i use Ebay alot, that's how i acquired over 3/4 of my Eldar. I also have a fair few fav bit sites that i use there quite often. the only problem i have now is that since i work second shift, it tends to take me away from Ebay during the time that most auctions end, but as you said patience is the key, and so i just try, try again.

Thanks KingCracker for becoming a fan. Yeah, I put together a Brazen Klaw ork for my cybork Meganob squad. Won't get a chance to paint him till tomorrow night, last shift of the 5. Think I have pulled both of my biceps. I will be working on the radar dish for the saucer too. I've got it all mapped out in my head, I think I have all the materials, now all I need to do is put it together, then I can finish painting and get the base done. Hopefully I will have some more to post before Friday when I head to Florida for a weekend of relaxation. Anyways, thanks for staying involved and interested in my thread, time to get ready for work.

I am digging the hell out of that. Whatever weapon combo you give him, I will use. I began working yesterday on a Brazen Klaw myself. Working on one of the 6 I am going to use. (5 of my own +1 done by Schank)

Here are a few pictures of it in progress.

And here are the images of your Snakebite Nob I am working on for you Schank.

Figured the PK and slugga combo was a fail safe. If that doesn't work, I have one with a big choppa you might like as well. Let me know, I can make one in any fashion you like. Plus these are the vintage metal nobz from the previous edition of orks. I got a good bit of them off a guy at the local hobby shop. I don't give them out normally, but for you, I would make the exception.

Thanks for the plug on the bits trade Schank. I've loved all the stuff you send also as does my son. He'll be making that defiler into a Thousand son's defiler with the new sphinx set.

Anyway, subscribed and following with interest.

NP Art35.

After seeing your Brazen Klaw Mega Nob I have had many ideas running in my brain pan on how to do yours. I'm sticking with the arm from earlier and have started on the pk. Post a pic when I get more done. I kinda take the same painting habits as monkeytroll..... I'm slow at it. But I will be working on youor while I work on prime12357's komando boy for the GMS. A brilliant idea that Whalemusic360 started. I toss in some extra bitz your might need for fun that might help you with your conversion when I mail out your package.

Thanks Schank. Sorry, didn't realize someone else started the GMS, thought it was Art. That is cool. Only other thing I need to find and I know it is here somewhere is the Mekboy chest that came with the Lootas/Burnas box. Wanted to use the bare chest with chain wrapped around it and stitches for my Orkenstein conversion. Can't wait to start that. Well, in the meantime everything is being put on hold. Taking a nice trip to FL. to visit my sis and family from England. She works for a Carnival Cruise line and got them a free ride on her boat as well as my parents. See you all when I get back after the weekend. Time to soak up some sun to go with this buff bod.

Well, I am back and I have been working on my saucer. The arm and radar dish for the lifta droppa is almost complete. I keep hitting ruts and snags though. Shouldn't be too much longer. I also added an unbelievable amount of spikes to the outer rim. I wanted it to look more orky and lethal. This means I will have to repaint it, but I need to anyway since my air compressor for my spray gun went on the fritz. Gonna borrow my brothers and really give it a good airbrush. Already have an electrician looking into LED arrangements for the "Trakta Beam". Dug up 2 squigs to paint like cows. Have a week off from work starting Friday. Mork willing I will be finished with it and can move on to Waaaghzilla or painting some squad members.

A most epic creation! Those spikes really make a difference to Orkify the saucer. I can't wait to see it as it improves. The beam kinda looks like an Orky bird-feeder at the moment.

I appreciate the comments and views guys. Schank, I actually have lots of glyph plates, I don't use them very often, but I trust your advice and will slap a few more on at random. I don't plan on putting a boss pole on it, but then again, it may need an orky antennae so I will think about it. Sorry if you think the stand looks like a bird feeder, just wait until it is all said and done and the tube is lit up with LED's. I try not to get too over the top with conversions for orks because it is so easy to get carried away. Just bear with me, and I won't let you down. Off to bed. Last day before my week off.

Oh, no. I meant no offense by the bird feeder comment. I've had too many projects compared to lumps of crap in their halfway stages to ever give anyone a hard time about that. I was making myself smile thinking of tiny orks firing at giant birds, though.

In all seriousness, I can see what you're trying to do with the beam, and I like it. It's gonna work, so keep on crackin at it!

Well so far this morning I have gotten some work done on the saucer. Not too much. The armature is basically done and is stable enough to hold everything together. I also added landing gear looted from a Tau Devilfish. Tonight once the monkey is in bed I will finish up adding more glyph plates and adding a few gubbins and it should be ready to be primed. Airbrush work should be tomorrow when I go use my fathers compressor. Here are some pics.

Here is one from farther away so you can see a little better how the whole thing will look.

I plan on using the smoke effect from my stormboyz (I haven't posted all the pics for them yet) that I learned from this website. http://dagreenskins.blogspot.com/2009/04/how-to-make-smoke.html It will be coming out of all 3 of the missles and swirling around the whole stem and base.
Feel free to leave questions, comments, concerns, and feedback.

Post by: bigfish

I cant remember what you said you were using it as, but unless its a flyer then that base is a bit tall. (i have a feeling you said it was a battle wagon???)
tbh though it is looking so cool i think you should make i a data sheet and then have it as a battle wagon of bomber or w/e for more competaive games.

HANG ON, it has a tractor beam... like the ork battle wagon with that tractor bean, you could use the rules from that and have it as a battle wagon with the lifta dropa.
:O awesome.
oh and the smoke effect sounds cools

Waagh Madgob @ 2011/06/04 23:30:51

Post by: Frawg

It is actually going to be a flier, which is why it's on the flying base. A little taller than the standard flyer. It will be a custom vehicle for the July Mega Monster Battle Jam Extreme 2011. Going to take the point cost of a fighta bomma, subtract the cost of the weapons and then add the cost of a zzap gun and a lifta droppa. Cleared it with Unholy Martyr (my opponent) and it should come out to be almost the same as the bomma. No transport capabilities, just dakka. This is one big game for fun and nothing else. Well, while taking those photos, it fell off the desk and broke. I have a lot of stuff to reattach and then secure even better. Have to wait till my 2 year old daughter goes to bed before I can work anymore tonight.

No, it will be table ready in the next day or two. I think I fixed the structural integrity of the armature. I think a little green putty more to secure it to the saucer, and some gubbins on the radar dish and it should be good to go. Borrowed my fathers air compressor, so I shoule be able to paint it and my battle wagon, and my second trukk tomorrow. Also playing 2 games at the local hobby shop. Grey Knights and then either IG or Space Wolves. Fun times. I should also be getting my Dread Knight and my Deff Dred kits tomorrow. My friend decided to call the conversion the "Deff Knight" I like that.

Schank, that is exactly what I am looking for. Perfect. Can't wait to field a squad of these, I could have used them today. Got my ass rocked by space wolves, thanks to Unholy Martyr. Not that it was his fault, more of my dice rolls were absolute gak. I don't think I passed anything except for morale checks. On the plus side, he did give me this to be looted.

Prepare for the Deff Knight. Can't wait to start ravaging this thing. All I need now is my Deff Dredd. Think I will pick that up Friday.

That is why I'm cracked you see.

Okay, now that Schank is done singing a quaint little rendition of I'm a little tea pot, here are some images. Once I get the base complete and the LED work done (don't count on that to be anytime soon, LEDs and what not take time to order and all) I will sit down and do a real photo shoot.
First, I want you all to see my cock. . . pit, perv. Notice the little IG face on the targeting screen. Cut it out of an old White Dwarf. Took at least 30 minutes to get right.

I do have the plastic bubble canopy to go over the top of the cockpit but I need to add the metal beam and struts to it to make it match the rest of the model.

Here is a few shots of the bottom from different angles.

Oh, I will be working on the smoke effect from my stormboy models that I learned from the tutorial I posted earlier. All three rockets are going to have huge vaportrails coming out the back that wrap in a downward spiral around the acrylic tube. This should give a little bit more of an impression that he is spinning wildly out of control.

Here is one of the whole shebangabang. Still lots of work to do on the base to make it more stable, and well, cooler looking. I plan on adding little squigy footprints and just other random stuff to kinda of spruce it up as well as show off the jungle terrain my army lives in.

Lastly here is the bull squig not done but started, the regular cow squigs stay in the secret folder until completion.

"Moo motherf***er! MOO!"

Correct, and dey came down and krumped everything good. Well, in the beginning of "Hell Week" as we call it at work. 4 12 hour day shifts with all higher ups and managers present and accounted for. Gonna be a rough one. Not going to get anything done till thursday night at the earliest. Gonna get back to painting Schanks mini since he is so far along with mine. I think I am going to begin preparations for finishing up Mecha Waaaghzilla. That means lots of daydreaming and sketching. How to make the tail and the howdah are the two big complications right now.

"Chicken Potpie my three favorite things." Pablo Fransisco. Got a buddy coming over today, I am going to start teaching him how to paint. So hopefully he can help me finish up squads of orks faster. Plan on working on the saucer then too. Cheers!

Post by: Frawg

So, I got more work done on the saucer project . About the only real thing left to do is the contrails I think that is what they are called on the missles, and the metal canopy cover, and I should be done. Of course I have to wire the LEDS in the base, and make them light the tube, but I am not sure which kind to order or what color would look best. I was thinking either Ultraviolet, or some kind of really bright white. Something to really make it light bright. Any thoughts on color? Regardless, here are some images.

This is the whole dealy. Not really a great picture, but pretty good.

Here are 3 shots of the base, squigs, some kind of marsh plant, and a Birch Tree. I realize now that I forgot to put the black lines across it, like Birch trees have.

As always questions, comments, and concerns are welcome. Off to a pool party! *deuces*

Something that's always bothered me about that saucer is the top section. The Rokkits are attached to the outer shell, right? And they're spinning, right? Well, wouldn't that make the Zzap gun spin around as well? Could make it a mite difficult to target stuff in that case.

I could see something like a little groove, or double ring right around the edge of the top plate, to sort of show that it 'stays in position' when the rest of the saucer spins...

And you should see if you can get the Cow-squig to float...

Well, really the missles are attached to the outer ring, so it is possible for just the outer ring to spin while the top and bottom stay stationary. I kinda went into this whole thing with only a vague idea, so it's really not perfect, or even well thought out. Kinda like an ork. I figured if people said that the zzap gun spun with the rest of it, I could say that is why he misses so much and accounts for his horrible BS. You get off a tilt a whirl and try and shoot a target from 300 yards away.

I was thinking about the floating squig, only problem is, I am out of squigs. I need to get one that I can attach to a flying stem, and I can stick it in the tube as well, above the other one. Maybe tomorrow I can call the hobby shop and see if he has any. Need one of the ones that looks like it's running or jumping to seal the illusion. Other than that Anvildude, I am happy with it. Anyone else? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I think they mean it is just a very light purple color. I doubt it is on a spectrum you can't see. Yeah, my electrician buddy was supposed to come over this weekend and help me, but apparently he is becoming quiet the "doucher". One of these days when he comes over I will order the LED's and the wire, soldering paste and batteries and get this thing lit. Until then I am just going to work on my Deff Knight and my basic troops and things to get my army more filled out.

So, my monthly vacation has come to an end, and I didn't get a lot done. I did however get started on Gorkatron, the Big Mek leader of my Dred Mob. I figured I would get him done because he would take less time than MekaWaghzilla, and Unholy Martyr did buy me the Dread Knight for that specific purpose, so I might as well put him together. 2 days of converting, and he is ready to paint. Sadly I won't be able to do that until Tuesday of next week. Just be prepared for ork madness mixed with a little kunnin.

Good to see the saucer almost done it needs a cow squig mid tube though. As for LED colour, well you can't go wrong with green.

Not a huge fan of the Morkatron. I think its the head, have you thought of losing it?

Bangbangboom wrote: Not a huge fan of the Morkatron. I think its the head, have you thought of losing it?

Actually, the head is the part that makes Morkatron what he is. It is my favorite part. If I had to change anything on it, the chest cavity would be removed, or made smaller. makes him look kinda fat.

Waagh Madgob @ 2011/07/11 21:08:07

Post by: Bangbangboom

Oh no don't do that. The megatron reference didn't register a first, but now I see why you want to keep the head.

But with his long legs and finishing school posture he already looks quite human. If you make the chest smaller your going to lose the orkiness.

Have you thought of etching the perspex tube? You can get a very cool effect with light on etched perspex. I don't know where your light is but I assume its in the saucer, if you block of the saucer end of the tube so the light is shining though the actual perspex only (and not down the inside of the tube) any etchings come out very bright.

Some examples.

http://www.artfutures.org.uk/uploadedfiles/images/110_flag.jpg

Rings/bands of light light would look very cool.

I think if I posted the picture of Galvatron from the Heart of Darkness series of comics, people would see exactly what I modeled him after.

The deal with the light is that the LEDs will be in the base, and they will shine up from under the tube. The engraving does seem interesting, the only thing I need to figure out is how to do it without ruining the tube. Wonder if there is a specific tool I need to use in order to do it. (Time to research) Thank you for the ideas, and what you said about the squig going up the tube as if being abducted, I had planned on doing that. I need to get a good squig model that looks like it's up in the air. Think I will go with green LEDs, gonna order them soon, as well as the wires, resistors, and battery. Not that I know what I'm doing, but I iz brainy.

Post by: Anvildude

Maybe try some springy wire, bent so you can stick it on the end of a rod (nail or something) and fit it in the tube. Put it on a drill, and presto! Rings!

Soooooooo, yeah I've been very slack as of late. I apologize to everyone who read my posts. I have recent;y started back on painting my orks. Gorkatron was knocked over by my daughter and broke. That kinda caused me to go into a slump of "why bother" But I finished 2 snakebite boyz and a Goff boy and a Nob. Not sure if I shared this or not but I plan on doing my Waaaagh as a mix of clans depending on squads. Bikers are evil sunz, and choppa boys are Goffs. Basically like it said in the book that clans will put differences aside when a Waaagh is called and they muster all they can to go to war. Anyway, I haven't taken any pictures, but as soon as I can I will. Hopefully people still care enough to check by and see what I've done.

Oh, wanted to ask the Dakka crowd, if anyone still reads this other than schank, does anyone know anything to strip super glue off a model? I have Simple Clean, which will take all the paint off down to the plastic, but what about super glue? I really wanted to redo the pose on Gorkatron. I think he needs more of a stalking pose rather than the regal pose that I have him in. Hate to have to try and pry the limbs apart and end up ruining the whole thing. That is a lot of money down the drain if I ruin it. Please someone, can you help?

Waagh Madgob @ 2011/09/08 06:01:18

Post by: schank23

Uncure should work. Just alittle on the joints and let it sit for a bit. Makes the super glue brittle. If you dont mind stipping the paint job and all. Super Clean will take everything off. But you will have to start from scratch.

Waagh Madgob @ 2011/09/08 06:10:21

Post by: l33tninj4

Like schank said, uncure would work perfectly. But to make it look good you's have to strip the model down to bare plastic again.

Nice masks and arm-band/tattoo painting. The snake on the nobs arm is quite excellent.

I usually just pry the bits apart... but if that doesn't work it's a simple green bath and no more paint job.

Thank you. Yeah I am planning on sticking Gorkatron in a vat of simple clean all the up to the leg joints. I am going to find a way to get the legs off and the arms off and reposition him to more of a stalking across the field "here I come" kind of pose. Now, I run into another challenge. A guy at the local hobby shop asked me if I could convert this
" border="0" />

into something Orky. Any thoughts you might have would be appreciated. I never back down from a challenge, and enjoy distorting reality to my will. Let me know what you think.

Baby Squiggoth! Use it as a living buggy. Or a Cyboar for a warboss.

I think you should definitely try to get as big a rise out of people as possible, with this conversion. Other wise, why convert such an item... (save for the previously mentioned challenge)

Could be a Idol of Mork (or is it Gork?), also. More of an objective then, though.

Sooooo, yeah it's been way to long since I did any real work on my orks. Playing "Space Marine" on the xbox360 will do that to you. Well here we go. I took Gorkatron (see previous posts or my gallery to see his horrible pose before) had been soaked in Simple Clean for about 48 hours. I then removed him and ripped him apart. He has been reconverted, reconstructed, and possibly reconstituted? I love the new pose and think that once he is fully painted, and has the rockin smoke effect coming out of his steam vents to give him that forward motion look, he will really knock your socks right the off your feet.

I hope you all enjoy the pics. I will really try to start working more on my armies. My dark eldar are going to be a very slow moving process, but the orks are still the army for me. As always your questions, comments, concerns, and criticism are welcome. Feels good to be back and posting. Hopefully now that my entire family's birthdays are out of the way (all 3 of us in the same week!) I can get back into it. Oh, yeah and I also got a new Battlewagon, and a Citadel Finecast version of Zaggstuk. Can't wait to get crackin on that.

Soooooo, over on this front I have a few new pictures to post. Got a little bonus money from work and decided to splurge on myself for once and get me a box of sumfin. Picked up a unit of fantasy boar boys, which will be made into Cyboar boyz. I realized there wasn't enough snakebites in my snakebite army. I think the nob kind of sums up how the unit will look. Still working on him, and having a hell of a tough time with his PK. I am out of them, not gonna pay 10$ to bit order one, and am at a loss for scrap building something. Anyway, here he is:

You know the routine about posting. Do it as you see fit. And Schank, I swear to Gork (or is it Mork) I'll get you that damn Nob in the mail tomorrow.

And Schank your snakebite Nob is in the mail, as well as an added bonus for your Brazen Klaws. "Waaaghboss Madgob sent you sumfink. He finks you can use it better den we can."

So, the Nob of my cyboar squad is finished. 2 days to complete. I honestly think I spent more time trying to figure out how to do the power klaw than anything else on the model. I am please with the overall look of the model. Although I think the snakebite symbol on the right shoulder could be better. Can't wait to field a squad of ten of these. Going to buy a box of the savage boar boys with the next paycheck and finish the other 5 of the squad. So much cheaper than buying 3 bikes at 45$ per box. Anyway, here are some pictures, you know the routine on comments. Enjoy.

Well dem nurgle boys got me good. Whooped me somethin fierce, as they say round these parts. Anyway, Unholy Martyr brought me a Leman russ to use as a looted wagon (I always wanted one of those). Think I am going to paint it up in the blue color scheme of the Death Skulls paint scheme, stick with that big amalgamation Waaagh theme I started for my army. Maybe I'll do a squad of Lootas that color too. I also have a looted Eldar Falcon I am working on too. The Russ will be a looted wagon with boomgun, and the grav tank will be a transport. That way I have versatility when it comes to what I can field. Anyway, off to bed with me. Working on my 2nd boar rider most of the day tomorrow, maybe #3 if I get the other done.

Oh yes, oh yes. It's update 30 and all is well. Here is cyboar #2. I really like the way this one turned out with the 4 wheeler style tires on the back. I don't like him nearly as much as the nob, riding on the back of Professor Piggybottom (don't ask), but he is still cool. The next one I think I will do will be mounted on tank treads instead of legs or wheels. Anyway, enough yammering. Here is some pictures for you.

Oh, and the base is actually scratch made from a cavalry base from fantasy and a slotta base cut in half. Dig it. You know the routine for comments and all. I'm out.

I say do it man. They end up being cheaper in the long run than buying 3 bikes at 45$ versus 5 for 25$. Plus you can buy the regular boar boys, or the savage boar boyz, which will be the second part of this squad.

I got the package today. Thanks for the rhino as well. Love the nob. The mask in pure awesome. Sending your out tomorrow finally. Man I'm slow. Got some stuff in there you might be able to use for a Evil space elves as well.

Now to the Boar boyz. Frawg those things rock. They are some of your best work I think yet. I love how you are taking the snake bits to the next level. Dont see many of them out there and you are doing them justice. Again awesome work cant wait to see more.

Okay, so it's not a boar boy, but it's the only thing I could get done with work and all. Someone may find it a little offensive, but I don't care. I live in America and I don't care. Nyah nyah nyah nyah This counts as a bomb squig for my tank hunta squad.

Hope you enjoy.

modelling tree flock. I posted the article on how to make it earlier in the thread. not hard, but takes some time.

Um, your message was hard to understand, but I get what you are saying. Yeah I am going to eventually go to a place in town that supposedly carries leds and batteries etc. and pick up stuff to do green lights in the bottom of it. Just going to take money and time. I have one, but not the other.

Well, I got Schanks model in the mail today. Thank you very much for that. Yours and mine look good together. I only need to make like 3 more and I'll have a kick ass squad. I'll post some pics when I get done. Started working on boar 3's paint job today. Starting out nice. You'll see soon. Unholy Martyr wants me to hit the 40K tournament scene with him, time to start working my ass off to finish building and painting my army.

Schank, thank you for the Dark Eldar stuff. Not sure what to do with them yet, especially the two guys. I think the big thing is going to become a grotesque, but the others I am still unsure. Well I finished the 3rd boar boy today. Here are some pictures. I kinda went into this one without thinking too much, and you can tell by looking at him that he isn't up to par with the other two, but still a pretty good job, if I do say so myself.

The image is a little darker than I meant it to be. He is a really dark brown, but this almost makes him look black. Anyway, I have an idea for 4 and 5. I am thinking one of them will actually be riding a cold one, just to add some variation in to the squad. Should have done the Nob on it, but I guess hindsight is 20/20. Well, until next time people.

Well, While I am working on boar #4 I am trying to think of a good "counts as" Ghazkull model. Anyone have any suggestions? I'd like to stick with something that still fits my Snakebites theme. Maybe a metal tiki mask instead of a wooden one, and maybe do his power armor to resemble a gorilla. Any feed back would be useful.

No, that would be counts as wazdakka . I already have plans for him, this one has to be in a huge suit of mega armor. It will be for the tournament in January. Really want to do something impressive. I have a few ideas rolling in my head, but nothing concrete.

This might be kind of tricky, but it would give you a good project to spend some time on, and would look truly unique when you're all done.

Build the framework for Mega Armor out of bone.

Add some seashell, thick hide, and bamboo wrappings to cover the edges of the framework.

Give him big shoulderpads made out of turtle shells, or one turtle shell and a skull from a bigger predator (like a hunting cat or something).

Throw on some obsidian and tusk powerclaws.

Viola! A propa Snakebite Ghazzy.

As far as actual materials for this, I could see some cut up sprue for the bone, maybe some bits of actual seashell (like those long razor clam shells), some plasticard for the obsidian, and greenstuff for skulls and turtle shells, as well as the other bits. And of course, you'll need to find a proper sized Ork to use as Ghazzy in the first place. Not sure how much of this would be feasible for ya, but maybe you can take some bits and pieces.

Good luck!

I never really thought about it like that. I think something along the lines of what Anvildude said, a real big ork, mixed with your idea of a suit of armor made of natural materials could work. Maybe a power fist like you said, made of obsidian, but make it look like a fist removed from a statue. I'll have to find stuff around my house. Almost done with boar 4. I'll post something soon.

What's that you say? Updates please, well since you asked so nicely, and you finished all your dinner, you get a heaping spoonful of orks.

Here is Cyboar rider #4 on his Uniwheel boar. Inspiration was taken from one that Schank was working on. Ah Schank, you inspire me to greatness.

Here are the Stormboyz I have painted so far. I know I posted one of them, as well as Waaaghmachine here before, but I forgot to post the rest of the squad. So, ere you go.

And a group shot for that @$$

Well, back to painting. Working on converting another rider for my bike squad, and also starting a loota. Trying to get as much as I possibly can done before I head to Scarab in January. First tournament ever for me. Hoping for the best.

Loota #1 is almost complete. Work has been killer, but I have the next 2 weeks off, so I think I can get some more done. Yellow is a royal pain to paint, mainly when it is clothing. Also, I was contemplating the squiggoths I have and want. I think I may end up buying a fantasy giant model and making that a squiggoth too. Just have to work on an idea for a howdah and a general concept. Should be a fun conversion.

Played a game last night and used army builder to tweak my "Scarab" list. Apparently, you can take a big Mek, give him a power klaw, and then put him in Mega armor. According to Army Builder, he never loses either power klaw. So he is equipped with 2 power klaws, his Meks tools, and a twin linked shoota. People say, "But why? Why not just take a Big Mek in a Bw with a KFF and *fart noises*" I stopped listening after you started trying to reason with me as to how I should enjoy myself. I think the modelling potential alone should warrant more people making them. I want to continue with Schanks paint scheme, and do a squad of "space Mareens" in the Brazen Klaw paint scheme. Including a tech priest with a servo harness. Do sumfin!

I have one of those. It's covered in sawblades, and has sawblades for hands.

It's actually a fairly 'ard hitting model, and about 50 points cheaper than a Warboss with similar attacks and power- but with less survivability.

You could also do the same load out with a Warboss. Imagine that mess. He could have 7 attacks at S10 on the charge, provided that buying a normal PK and mega-armor grants the +1 atk bonus. We might wanna check the FAQ for it. I'm really tempted to make that model now...

Unfortunately, you cannot do the same 2 PK trick with the Warboss. He swaps both his Slugga/Shoota, and his Choppa for the Mega Armour- the Mek only swaps his Slugga/shoota for the MA, and 'iz Choppa can be swapped then for a PK.

2 Lootas painted, and one primed and some what base coated. When I get him finished tonight, I'll post some pictures. On an absolute painting rampage right now and loving it.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
3 Lootas down, 7 to go. Got number 4 assembled, primed and basecoated. Gotta keep this work-a-holic mentality as long as possible. Here are some images of the new Lootas, Badmoon Tribe GO!

This first Loota got a little too much varnish and turned out much glossier than the others. Not bad on the table, but in a photo he is shiny.

I painted the first one with the all yellow clothing, and then painted the second with the yellow shirt and black pants, and looked at the two side by side and thought "The first guy looks like he is wearing a yellow hazmat suit, or one of the jump suits from the Beastie Boys Intergalactic video" and I fell in love with the all yellow jump suit, so I painted the third that way.

You know the routine for posting comments and all.

Dude, that's a great turnaround time from gifted to painted, especially for lootas. Everything from that kit takes me forever to paint, which is probably why my tankbustas have been subbing in for Lootas since I started playing 5th. Do you assemble em first, and then paint em?

The yellow jumpsuit orks remind me of the "moonraker elites" from Goldeneye for N64.

I assemble the gun separate from the ork itself. I didn't get ridiculous with the detail. I love the yellow jump suits. Glad others like them too. After I finish #4, I am gonna work on Zagstruk. Try and break up the monotony of painting all yellow guys.

So there you go. One 12 man squad done. The 'ard boys will be posted tomorrow, with their transport. Time to get cracking on the 30 man shoota squad with tiki masks. *sigh* Well, you know what I always say, comments, questions, concerns are always welcome. Sleep now.

Yeah, that is the first 12 man squad for the tournament. I have a second squad and their transport done, as well as the warboss and his nobz, and both deff dreds. I have another 7 Lootas to go, like 9 grots (easy) a runtherd, 25 regular boys, a looted wagon, and a battle wagon to paint. Most of it will get done this weekend. I hope to get a lot more done tonight, but weather I do or don't I will post some pictures so that you can see what it is.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Okay, so I got some more work done on the Squiggoth I have been working on. The idea is to basically create something to fit the theme of the cheesy old B sci fi movies, to add in to my Apoc army. Not entirely sure where the idea came from, but I am gonna keep running with it. The body is pink foam with roughly 4 layers of white glue, and "Golden Acrylic" hard gel. After I painted the white on the body, I stippled 2 shades of orange for the spots, and then washed the whole deal with Devlan Mud. The head is drying at the moment, made of green putty and plastic bits. The legs are from the fantasy Arachnarok spider. Bit ordered a set from Ebay. The klaw is the spare left over from Morkatron. The big white bubble on the end is just something I wanted to throw on to make it look a little more kustom. I plan on painting the bubble bronze to give it a whole steam punk look, and I do plan on working on the detail on the legs and the howdah tomorrow. I'm also going to put a wheel on the back of the shell to make it seem like the crab couldn't support the weight of all the boys and stuff and they had to add something on to help keep it mobil. Kinda tired, so I think I may just pass out now.

As per the usual, your feedback is welcome and appreciated. Keep on dakkin!

I like where you're going with this, but I think your claw placement looks a little off. I think it might look better if the claw was in front of the leg, instead of vice-versa. As it is now, it would be difficult for the claw to grab anything without the leg getting in the way. Looking forward to seeing where you take this, though. I've never seen a crab-squiggoth, but I think it could be mighty cool.

I think it's meant to be more like a Hermit Crab than a soft-shell- there's only going to be legs on that one side, and the claws and 'head' are going to be sticking out between them- it'd drag the shell around.

I'd suggest making the 'bubble' into a gun mounting, myself.

Yeah, you're right. I forgot to include that it is a hermit crab. the arms and "face" are between the legs. Kinda bizarre. I studied a lot of images of crabs to make sure I got it right. I was thinking about making the "bubble" into a gun mounting, but I think I am going to attach some tubes and pipes and things to it, and just kind of leave it to the imagination as to what the function is, or possibly make it reminiscent of a boiler. Kinda like the hotter they make the fire in it, the hotter the crab gets, and therefore motivates it to run as well as pisses it off, so it fights anything it comes in contact with. WoW! I just came up with that on the spot, but it sounds pretty good to me. back to work.
