As it says on the can! Also, if you can, tell us what it is and what you used to make it. I'll start it off. A shrine commemorating a fallen Dreadnaught. Made with a Space Marine biker banner pole, a Dreadnaught sarcophagus, purity seals, Space Marine head, a Bolter and some stones. An Imperial Guardsmen memorial. Made with a lasgun, Space Marine combat knife, and IG helmet, a purity seal and some stones. An Abandoned sniper's post. Made with a SM scouts sniper rifle with its stand, ane SM scout binocular, a satalite dish from the Sm vehicle frame, a purity seal, a skull from AOBR frame and some stones.

Used GaleForce Nine's snow flock, though any powder based one should be able to do it. Then used this tutorial to help get the texture.

My Ork objectives, a gift from Aurelia (my wife's account name on Dakka) for the 2010 40K doubles tournie.
She did two Deathskull themed and two Goff themed, (my doubles partner had Goffs that year) plus the neutral Squig objective all the Orks are worried about fetching ammo from. Need a grot as bait while they collect the rounds.

Through the wonders of threadcromancy.... why start a new topic when it already exists and just needs a little boost?? Anyway, since it's a P&M show-off thread I figure it's OK.
I'm a big objective marker junkie. I just love making them.
First, some fun objectives I made to give away at my son's birthday party last year...
Orks:
Tau:
Imperial:
Chaos: (relic helm)
Chaos: (alter)
Few for my Bad Moon ork army...
Statue of my War Boss:
The War Boss's pet squig:
"Da spook 'ut": (wierdboy hang-out)
Then a couple for friends...
Salamander alter:
Nurgle alter: (with old-style SW sacrifice)
My eldar objective...
And my Mantis Warrior objectives...
First, a suite of objectives... the two on the right were mode by Solar_lion and inmygravenimage respectively.
Wounded marine:
Corrupted Mantis Warrior: (chaos marine was done by Gathering Storm, base by me)
Hope you like them. Love to see what others have done.

I have seen some very nice objective points in this thread! I get a really good inspiration from all those pictures, thank you for that guys.
Don't have objectives yet, only started playing WH40K this year and I am still working on my army. But I want to get the Aegis Defence Line or Imperial Strongpoint from GW to use the quad-gun to make some TL Autocannons for my Dreadnoughts. The base which the quad-gun is mounted on is useless then, so I am planning to use that for a objective point, to paint some Imperial HQ model like a statue and then put it on that quad-gun base.
Maybe a nice tip for other people, who hadn't thought of it
EDIT: before I get any question, I did not paint the quad-gun from the picture I linked! It's just to show what I mean.

The other thing you can do, if you have the bitz, is mount some lascannons or heavy bolters or whatever on it and call it a Tarantula turret; but it does work nice as scenery as well, whichever you think you'd get more use out of.

The slime is PVA glue mixed with a bit of white paint, and the slimy threads are a transparent general cheap hobby glue painted white after drying. I then glossy varnished it when it was all dry again.

A Giant Squiggoth Turd.
"How can it be an Objective?" you say.
"Sure it can be an Objective" I say...
For all these armies the motive for capturing it can be; (Imperium, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Tau, Chaos Orks) - "Squiggoth ate my favourite *Insert Commanders Favourite thing here*".
For Necrons and Chaos Deamons (except nurgle of course ) I'm actually not quite sure. Help me out here...

Nice stuff here.
So, I've got two that I've made myself for my guard army.
The first is a generic memorial marker:
And the other one I did was a flag.
The neat part about it is that it's a flag pole with a warped-plasticard flag that's really easy to just clip onto the pole. That way I can leave the flagpole empty, and then attach the flag when I take the objective.
... and with them both:

Having seen the brilliant ideas for objective markers here, I'm inclined to make a few of my own. How would I go about making the base for one, and where do you get things like crates and barrels from?
24082
Post by: Flying Pooo
@ NimbleJack3-You can get barrels and crates from GW with their Battlefield accessory set. Or you could get them much cheaper from some place online... I can't think of anywhere specific so you could just Google it. As for bases you can use any GW bases which for objectives are usually 40mm & 60mm bases. If you want to make your own just use thick card, MDF, plasticard stuff like that.

I whomped up some deployable sentries for my Terranwing based on the autocannon turret and Swann's Flaming Betty from SC2

Wow, I'm loving Flinty's turrets as well. Solid-looking shapes, and it all fits together well. Nice job.
What do you use them for? You mentioned they're deployed in a 'Terranwing', but I haven't heard of that before.

Thanks. The base is a trimmed down Tau drone, and was the fiddliest thing to get right as I needed to smooth down a portion of the top of the drone. The flamer is a land speeder heavy flamer, the RFAC is a Dark Angels land speeder assault cannon with a trimmed down Guard autocannon barrel. The gun shields are from the Guard HW kit. The stand they are on is a trimmed down teleport homer from the Terminator box. The random fiddly bit on the back is a Tau grenade pack thats there just because there is a similar bit on the SC2 versions
I've been doing a homage to Starcraft 2 through the deployment of a heavily themed Deathwing army, hence Terranwing. P&M blog here.

Excellent, valuable chapter relics to be recovered. Definately more interesting (and noticeable) than tank traps Now do the hard bit and get them painted

Thank you for the compliment sir. For the teleport homer/vox caster I am going to try the new GW texture paints. The field expedient chapel I was thinking sand, static grass, and tufts of vegetation. I love my local model railroad shop...

Hmmm... posting pics when you have these completed? I was considering getting some of the new stuff from GW, but just haven't been able to force my hand yet...

I will do so sir. I am going to try and lay down some thin masking tape to act as an expansion joint, try and make it look like tarmac/concrete, as well as try to leave an oil spot. Pictures will be forthcoming, hopefully by Saturday AM US time...

is it possible to create an objective that will create cover when capped?

A bunker/building/massive hole in the ground with a flag in it?

I believe the rules are the objectives cannot give cover, and are not considered area/difficult/dangerous terrain. AFAIK they are essentially holograms

As promised here is the based marker. I used the GW Astrogranite texture paint, with Tamiya masking tape for the expansion joints. Overall I found the process to be quick and painless, easy, and perfect for a "quick and dirty" basing. To finish, I washed with Nuln Oil then dry brushed with Codex Grey. The pictures aren't the best, but you can get a good idea of how it looks.

I love the new GW texture paints. I use armagedon dust with an agrax earthshade wash for a desert efect.

Looks good. I also managed to shake off apathy and put some paint on my objectives over the past couple of days. I'm even happy with the yellow, even though it was a pain And a smidgeon of half assed OSL for kicks (it actually looks better in the photo than in real life...).

Does he have a writ from the commasariat stating he is human? Nice stuff, well helmeted. The "mystery" formation of rifles with a helm on top is called a stack (or that's what we called it anyway.)

Ribon Fox wrote: And the...not sure what you call that act but you see it alot in old war films with a helm on top
It's a Rifle Stack, although we call them Stove Pipes sometimes.
Always use the helmet on those, they bloody well fall down next to it otherwise!
All of them are looking nice though!

Hey folks, whats the point of an objective marker?
Ive been modelling 40k for a couple of years off and on... i dont play the game or ive never really bothered with the rules, but the objective markers look cool to make as anything goes really.
Is there any size requirements or anything i should know before making them.

The point is to mark objectives ^^
Some times in game you will have what we call an "objective", some place in the game that is necessary for the victory or such. Units must be near those objectives to control or contest them, and so you will need something to show where the objective is.
About the size: "oficial" GW ones have bases that are slighlty smaller than 25mm (i think it is 20mm). But normally you can just use a 25mm base as the starting point, and "size limitator". Not that sometimes those objective markers could not be bigger (lets say 30-40mm base is the max).

I used 40mm bases for mine, it makes a simpler build and paint for me.

I love the flag. It's well done, and its got old school "Capture the Flag" feel... I have a feeling an Orkish version "Kaptur dis 'ere Flayyg!" on a stack of explosives would be hilarious.

2/3rds of the games in 5th edition work based off of having to hold an objective at the end of the game by having a scoring unit (usually a troops choice) within 3" of it. If an enemy has a scoring or non-scoring unit within 3" of it at the end of the game then you don't get points from it. I don't know if there are any requirements but maybe something like a Reaver Titan might be a bit much 25-40mm base and the average height of a space marine is usually pretty standard. Obviously in friendly games you could make whatever you want

The objective games in my local tournaments use either 40mm based markers or poker chips which are, incidentally, 40mm in diameter as well.
I've got a few custom markers made for my armies, but no pics. :(

Well, i would start with something that interests you or goes along with any model you might have been using. That would be a great start.
I guess any size base could work, but obviously, you wouldn't want it too bag (60mm was really the largest base size I think I've ever used), but the larger you go, the more space you would have to work with . I'd say start with a 40mm base and see where it takes you!

I really like the wolf priest and the large tau in show. The fallen marine still fighting is sweet also, I'd love to know how he did the intestines. Now I want to make some objectives.
Also, brilliand job to the DE player because anyone playing DE has a billion of those parts laying around and its a great use of them
