Baiyuan and chums are running a awesome private contest... It's a shame it's closed off from everyone because the Idea is really good! So I've stolen it! This is the exact same Tournament but made for Everyone! Yayyyy!
Ok so the basic Idea is.
Tell us your getting involved!
buy one of these 4 new Plastic WarHammerFB Sorcerers and Convert them to fit into 40k.
++ The mini's are released on the 9th of July. ++
During July and August you update this blog with your progress.
Each entry must have a minimum of 1 unpainted Work In Progress photo.
Basing should be appropriate to the model it's representing.
Each entrant must then post before the 3rd of September a finished 'Submission' photo.
I'll form a panel of dakkanauts and at the end we'll decided who won!
I'd gladly take part in this FRIENDLY (that is, not like the other one) competition, but shipping delays will probably mean I won't get my mini until the first week of August...
Is there any time limit to join? If not, I might order one of them anyhow, then figure out how to complete it quickly...
It should be funnier than the other one, anyway... Let everyone have fun!!!!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, 40mm should be good enough for a proper base size... That's nearly twice as much as what you'd get for the original model...
I'll throw my hat into the ring - if you'll let me :-).
Thought i'd already joined up but guess i didnt submit the post properly. I then saw the other blog which gave me a chuckle - up the rebellion!
The new wizards were news to me so just checked out the link. No idea which one to go for yet - looks a bit daunting. But i guess thats why they call it a challenge.
yeah, Glad to have you onboard chaps. I think this will run nicely along side the original blog.

The idea itself is fun, now it's for everyone! I think basing should be 40mm or under... can't really think of a reason to be larger?
Axlbush wrote:... But i guess thats why they call it a challenge.
indeed!
GiraffeX wrote:I like the idea of a FRIENDLY version of this contest, I have one question though. If there is a second wave of plastic sorcerers in August, are we allowed to choose from them as well?
I had not really thought about that... I don't see why not, although you'll only have 1 month to chop it up and paint it!!
I may also give this a go, those new models do look amazing .
Also Panic, the color of something you're using for text isn't showing up for me on the "work safe" Dakka color scheme / theme. It's the word "Everyone" in the OP, and the word "nicely" from the first line of your next post. Just in case anyone else noticed the same (I was able to see the text when I highlighted it, at first I thought you were just pausing for dramatic effect )
If i thought the invitational Friendly was going to be challenging enough , i guess i was wrong , with another friendly comp and more talented kitbashers , the challange just got even bigger. will be Interesting to see what everyone comes up with in september. Btw Flying poo posted some lovely links to the sprues in the original thread so everyone can see whats in store for them.
Axlbush wrote:JUst to clarify, we dont actually have to convert it into a 40k psyker do we? It can be anything we wish?
Convert it to anything in 40k you can dream up!

Hey guys, I can't say that I'm surprised that people are sad they weren't invited to the original contest, seems like PDH and I had a really good idea there and everybody hates not to be invited to the best party in town.
It was never the plan to come around like elitist jerks who want to exclude people from having fun, that's simply not the case.
Our idea started as a "couldn't be more friendly" contest between JUST Peter and me, then we had the idea to include other guys from our friend lists, no more no less. It was not our intention to hurt anybody and looking at how pointed some people's remarks are, it's quite obvious they are deeply hurt. We didn't mean to!
Imagine it to be a party, that's the best example: So you're planning to have a little house party and you invite a couple of close friends to come over and have a couple of beers and watch the game. That's going to be fun! Problem is everybody in your neighbourhood/workplace/school finds out and now they say "Great, I like beer AND sports, I'M COMING!!!" Now your private sit-in has become a happening for the whole town and you have to tell people they can't come and that it says so on the invitation. So you're the bad guy now because you wanted to have a nice quiet evening with your friends, and not your own football arena.
I don't think it's being an elitist jerk, if you just want to meet with friends, it's just normal social behaviour. It's not normal social behaviour to crash a party, just because it's for example in a public park and it looks like fun. Try it, walk up to a group that's having a BBQ in the park and tell them you're in because you like meat. They will either tell you politely that they are sorry, but you're not invited or more likely they will kick your ass!
Have your own BBQ, nobody will be mad about it! The same holds true here, we didn't want to keep people from having fun, it just wasn't an open group. Unfortunately people are lazy readers sometimes and instead of reading at least the whole first entry of a thread, just read the topic and write "Yeah, count me in!" Which leaves PDH and me with the ungratful task to say: "Sorry dude, it's invitational, if we have a slot we'll get back at you." It's hard not to sound like an donkey-cave when your telling someone he is not invited.
So from my point of view, it looks like this:
Please have your own contest, I have absolutely no problem with it, neither has anyone else. I hope you'll all have loads of fun and I'll be watching all your conversions with excitement. The more people, the more conversions, that's a good thing, I agree.
I would just ask everybody to refrain from slandering our contest or judging the people who are part of it, just because we planned an event of a smaller scale and we couldn't invite everybody to the party.
I hope both contests will be a great success and more importantly, that people will just enjoy the P&M and not let misunderstandings cast a shadow on it.
@Panic: Naming your contest after ours and claiming it's "friendlier" looks like a cheap shot from somebody who feels hurt. It saddens me that you felt excluded and I think there is no need for any rivalry or aggression. Both blogs should be able to coexist peacefully and I'm sure both will be loads of fun. We're honored that you liked the idea so much and we're happy that you want to open it for everybody, on the other hand it's a pity that you got so upset by it. We would appreciate it, if you came up with your own name for your contest and wouldn't refer to ours in any negative fashion. Let's all be friendly, there is enough room in this city for more than two similar contests, no need for hard feelings.
Agreed, the points have been made, and there is no reason both threads can't exist alongside each other in peace.
Let's all bury the hatchet, I don't think anyone had malicious intent, even if many don't agree with the reasoning, it isn't a crime to have a closed contest. Panic has stepped in to fill the void, so what say we all fist-bump and get on with the contests!?
yeah,
Baiyuan
Your right I took a cheap shot in naming this blog.
I did this intentionally as it is the same great contest, with your great idea, but made for everyone.
I've removed 'Friendlier' from the title.. As my intentions are not to start a rivalry.
I just really liked your Idea and wanted to play. I made this clear in your thread and you're correct I was disappointed that not everyone could take part. You are entitled to run a private contest with your friends, but your doing it in a very public forum and that is kinda weird...
I think both Blogs will coexist and will both be great! I'm loving the Ideas so far in pimp my wizard, and I can't wait to see what you and your friends come up with.
Great, I'm glad we could solve the situation and now that everybody has a chance to be part of the fun, we can go back to our sinister conversion plans. Wish you all the right amount of inspiration!

Hey Panic, this is awesome ya'll are running a contest as well. I can wait to see what everyone comes up with!
I can appreciate the fact that people were excited about the idea and wanted to participate in our contest. However, I don't really see how it is weird to run a closed event on a public forum. The members participating in our contest are all people who we post regularly on one another's blogs, and Baiyuan and PDH invited those of us who talk to each other here on a fairly regular basis. I don't really think it's much different from a "Tale of X Gamers" army building blog or a "VS" blog you see on many forums. Perhaps it could have been done better by sending all the invites and establishing who the participants were before creating the thread to avoid confusion on who was able to participate.
In any event, you've come up with a great solution by taking the initiative to start your own thread open to all, and that is awesome! I really hope there aren't any hard feelings!
yeah,
I think your right if it was more clear from the start that this was a tale of 10 gamers there would have been no issue.
I think we are all cool now.
I've Just placed my advanced order for three of the Sorcerers...
The Vampire Counts Necromancer, Dark Elf Sorceress and Tzeentch Sorcerer Lord.
I'm not sure which one is getting the chop yet! maybe all of them!
Roll on July so the Serious business can get started!
I'd love to get in on this, but I can't see having the time. That necromancer looks super cool, I think I might have to pick one up for some converting. Is there a deadline for joining... wait - I'll just scroll up.
Also, I'd like to say that I think it's awesome that the group projects keep coming. The marine/ork swap, the dakka conclave, and now this... did I miss any? Anyhoo, very cool.
This is a great idea. I think I'll have a crack at it. The first one will make a great inquisitor. Can we do more than one? If we can I might have plans for the four armed guy.
of course, I Don't see why not, I'm probabily going to convert more than one of these myself! the rules are very loose... the main Idea is to get people sharing Ideas and see what we can come up with!
RiTides wrote:Now, I just need to decide which sorcerer model to use...... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........
The dark elf one is the most obvious, as I'm starting Dark Eldar, but it's also my least favorite- the others all rock.
So I'll have to think about that... maybe I can make the first one into a Haemonculus?
I'm planing on making a Haemonculus too! but I've been eyeing up the Vampire Counts Necromancer and Tzeentch Sorcerer Lord... I've just got to work out how to apply a race and sex change as my Dark Eldar are all female...
The only thing I decided so far is that I must rule out using the Dark Elf Sorceress as my entry... way to easy!
Panic wrote:The only thing I decided so far is that I must rule out using the Dark Elf Sorceress as my entry... way to easy!
PAnic...
Agreed- too easy! I'm thinking of using the one with the long legs, whatever he is...
Also, a suggestion for the thread title- maybe include the word "Open" (as in, "Open P&M Contest" or the like) to distinguish it from the other (which is listed as Invitational in the title) for those just scanning / coming upon them for the first time.
My idea involves a certain slug from that star wars universe just not sure if I can pull it off as itll be complex and reguire bits I dont have at the moment.
I hereby state my presence in this contestional thread, though at the same time I would not necessarily say I'm the quickest to move sort of fellow. So, here's at least a shot at having a miniature in by September 9. This should prove some getting around to doing stuff time, I think. After all, what's better motivation than a deadline?

Nonsense mate, that is not what happened.
Yes, we changed the title, when more and more people failed to recognize, that, while we were welcoming everybody's interest, it was clear to us from the start we couldn't take everybody in.
It said from the very beginning, that we were planning "to invite some friends".
And be assured nobody laughed at you, why would we? Also how do you think you know that somebody laughed? I don't remember any despective comments towards anybody who wanted to join!
Sorry that we didn't make it totally clear from the beginning, but there was the fair chance of reading the first post, which you must have overlooked.

No hard feelings!
Lol, I probably assumed you were laughing at me!
I think I'd like to have a crack at this (as long as you guys promise not to laugh at the result). I've got a few ideas brewing. I just need to chose which to go for!
If there's a second wave in August then I will be in (depending on what there is.)
Just can't afford it for the current lot (and not chopping up my Dark Elf bint to be anything but a Dark Elf bint! Even if she does irresistable Power in the Darkness on 2 dice and kill herself off before I can do anything with the dice.)
”So tells us again why we goin’ down to the slums Bozzok.” Bozzok sighed. Why, in the God-Emperors name, did he always end up working with the most stupid mercs in the city? ”Were here Reeme, because were getting paid.” ” Yeah, I know we getting paid Boz. But what we getting paid for?” ”If you had listened when we were hired you’d know. Fine. The ratty geezer’s paying us to find his niece. He said something’s been making people disappear down there.” ”You know what it is?” ”The thing down there? No. But I’m thinking it’s a particularly crafty mutie or a gang of slavers. Either way this shouldn’t be too difficult. We’ll be back before dinner, you’ll see.”
5 hours later
”Move it Reeme! It’s right behind us. Keep running! Reeme?” Emperor preserve me. It got Reeme. Got to keep running. Come on Boz, you can do it.
Bozzok turned a corner, dropped a grenade on the ground and kept running. The grenade went off and the pressure wave threw him to the ground. He got up and peered down the corridor. Nothing. Did he kill it? What the hell was that thing? No matter. Have to make sure it’s dead. As he started down the corridor he heard a sound and turned around with his pistol raised. Bozzok Craym had just enough time to scream before the darkness took him...
yeah,
Dude you can enter as many as you like.
But each entry needs to have at least 1 work in progress photo and a finished submission photo.
I myself will probably enter twice.
Now all I need to do is sneek out tomorrow and buy a mini, because I already said I won't spend any more money this month on bitz If there are no more post from me on this blog, it's because I got caught
Once his home could have been considered beautiful, with the elegant spires, the lush greenery and the very essence of life felt through every footstep, through every wall and through the air itself. Once he was at peace here, with all his kin. Their numbers may have been dwindling, their time on the stage of the universe drawing inevitably closer but for the time they could feel. Pride at their accomplishments. Joy at the beauty which was before them. Satisfaction at what was theirs.
This all changed when they came. The spires were shattered, the skies darkened and the air itself became impure and tainted. Their home became sick as they surged forward, a plague of mindless, devastating vermin intent on nothing more than destruction. It had shocked them. It had angered them. This enemy acted without reason. It acted without emotion. The true horror lay in that. An unending time that consumed, that destroyed, that defiled. They didn't even get the chance to bury their fallen, forced to abandon them where the fell in desperation, forced to cast their souls to fate's whims as they sought shelter wherever it remained. Even now, on his path which he could never leave he still felt that pain. It was not grief. It was not sorrow. It was anger. Cold and primal, it twisted in his gut like a parasite, like a remnant from the horrors that had beset their world and cast it to ruin.
Even now, as he walked amongst the silence. Even now as he cast cold grey eyes to the bleached bones that lay scattered where men, women and children once fell. Even now as his feet fell upon lifeless stones and shattered ruins that once marked all his hope and joy. He stops, reaching down in his anger and picking up one of the delicate skulls, looking at it in contemplation. The dead never got to rest. Even as their bones lay, scattered and lifeless their souls were regularly bound to war in a desperate attempt to merely survive.
That was not good enough. That would not do. They had to be remembered.

Good luck to everyone can't wait to see everyone elses ideas.

lol good luck tipios
Yey! the wife had to go to work, so I went off and got me the Chaos Sorcerer Lord. I going to make a nightlord sorcerer.
@Dysartes - I hope you don't have any problems with your order:(
I made the journey to a nearby shopping centre, fought my way through hordes of scantily-clad Essex girls (oh the hardships we have to endure for our hobby) and picked up 2 amazing looking models - Miniatures, not Jordan wannabies
Got pounced upon by the redshirt as usual, keen oozing from every pore until I told him I was converting for Necromunder, a scavvy gang. He looked a little bit stunned for a second then sprang like a gazelle over to the warhammer section "Maybe you'd like some ogres or trolls to go with them?" Bless.
He did pick a couple of assembled sorcerers from the gaming table for me to look at before buying though, much to the dismay of the players and I was almost tempted to buy the whole set.
It's going to be a pleasure to convert these guys. Fluff will come when I've got some of the basic converting done
Boomo, my co-author (oooh, that sounds cool) went over to his FLGS and got the Tzeentchian one, and made a short write up at our blog. Might be of interest to anyone of you that haven't gotten yours yet.
I don't wanna drag this offtopic. But I do find that GWs production of monopose models kinda disturbing...
tipios wrote:@Dysartes - I hope you don't have any problems with your order:(
I don't really have time to work on him till a week on Monday, but it would've been nice to know that my "pre-order" wasn't going to be dispatched before the model's release.....
I'm sure Panic isn't interested in excluding anybody at all, so stop holding your breath and get converting.
I wrote a little review including pictures of all four wizards over at the other blog. So if you haven't got yours yet, or you want to see what parts are interchangable and some size comparisons, head over and have a look.

eeek I hope i don't get that feeling! I'm kinda thinking this cost is to cover the limited numbers they expect to sell.. And I'm kinda happy that they are releasing plastic characters... I do get what your saying thou.
Mine didn't arrived in the post on Saturday morning :( GW's plan to send out preorders the day before release hasn't quite worked out... : sad times :

4. The sorceress is averagely tall, but otherwise really petite. I compared her to DE hagashin and warriors, because I consider borrowing some limbs from them and they look fat compared to her.
I'm having the same problems putting plastic DE arms onto Lelith they just look chubby!
What else are you planning? Just adding a back pack and a pistol, or are there more substantial changes down the line? The grave guard helmet suits him well btw.
I have a thin for wings ATM, so he is getting a backpack with a wing conversion. I'm not giving him a pistol, I'm gona try and change the angle of his hand and maybe do some lightning coming from it.
I'm waiting for mine to arrive in the post, what goods a pre-order if GW don't post it out quick enough to arrive the same day as they go on sale in the stores.
Ok, there are three things you HAVE to do, Tipios:
1. Finish him quickly
2. Get one of those fancy wodden display stands, the finest wood you can find
3. Have a fancy metal plate engraved with just one word: "Booooooh!"
That was my first impression, like he's scaring kids from his lawn.
Oh yes, Night Lords are fear incarnate...
Captain Bellard was at the end of wits, his command post was a Hive City on the planet Xenris. The planet was a desert world it was almost unbearable to go outside of the hives in the day time due to the extreme temperatures without breathing apparatus, it was possible at night but it was always below freezing so most of the population stayed in the hive. It made life easy for the small Imperial force he was Captain of he just had to monitor the Arbites to make sure they kept their handle on the gangs and that was it, their only real presence was due to the Hives output of tactical dreadnought armour which was considered a high enough risk to warrant a small imperial force.
Lately though things had being going slightly down hill for Captain Bellard, his psyker was unwell he kept hearing a voice in his head driving him insane, the medical staff couldn’t find any explanations. He was due to be sent off world on the next shipment but that was a few months away. The other problem that had recently occurred around the same time as his psyker falling ill was the main reason for his concern, some of his regiment had gone missing. There was nothing to show for the missing Guardsmen, they just failed to report in for duty. At this rate Captain Bellard was losing about 5 troopers a week and it wasn’t just the troopers there were weapons missing as well some a bit more heavier then he was comfortable with. Last week two Missile Launchers disappeared from the munitions dump, he wasn’t happy.
The worst fear for the Captain was of his Guardsmen turning tratior it had never happened on his shift but Chaos was a hard beast to track down, the last thing Bellard needed was to call upon the Inquisition for advice as it could very well be his undoing.
-----------------------------------------------
Deep down in Fracturez Hive Skunk was onto too something, he had heard rumours of a hidden weapons cache down near the reactor levels. Not many gangers went down that far but the Scavvy gang wasn’t afraid of going deeper than the others, what was lost at the bottom of the hives was theirs alone. That included the smell as well, recycled air only goes so far down and then all you can smell is the rankness of the sewer channels. There’s a reason not many go that far down and that was it but Skunk was a hardened scavenger and didn’t have much of a sense of smell from being punched in the face one too many times.
As Skunk worked his way through the corridors he had the sense of someone following him, armed with his trusty stub pistol, he wasn’t too worried and he was a big enough guy to not get much hassle from anyone else he might meet down here. Then he heard the footsteps not far behind, he dived round a corner stub pistol ready. But there was nothing not a single noise, Skunk had a glance back round the corner and wished he hadn’t as he came face to face with a shotgun. Not the nicest of welcomes he could remember but the young lady on the other end could change his mind, although he could tell from her dress sense he wouldn’t have a hope of getting out of this situation alive.
The Scavvy’s were in the middle of gang warfare with the Escher gang in the same facility. She demanded information on the weapons cache for his life. If they took the cache then the whole gang would be wiped out, he wasn’t going to give his gang up and he didn’t trust her to let him live to tale the tale. He heard the trigger of the shotgun click and felt his guts explode. Skunk stood there for the briefest of moments feeling like his life had turned into slow motion, in the last seconds of his life he saw something from the shadows a creature he couldn’t think how to describe, it came darting towards him and he was glad the shotgun claimed his life.
The Escher ganger looked into Skunk’s eyes as she pulled the trigger there are no second chances in the hive it’s live or die. As the weapon fired she saw a reflection in Skunk’s eyes of something moving up rapidly behind her. She span round and brought her weapon to bare but she wasn’t quick enough the creature was inhumanly fast and clawed a gaping wound across her stomach taking her down, her last vision before she passed out was of a creature from hell itself. Her body hit the floor, the creature dragged her off into the darkness.
-------------------------------
The voice resonates out into space to those that can hear its call “We are coming and we will leave no world unturned, prepare for annihilation”.
After consulting panic privatly he made me realize my idea was a little to ambitous the only idea I have left involves an army I don't play so sadly I'm backing out unless another idea with my limited bits hits me.
That's pretty much the basics done. Just waiting for a few more bits then I can do the thing with the back and then put my attention to shaving the shoulders from a Dire Avenger body and finally some GS work.
Of course there's the fun bit of the Necromancer's feet being at odd angles...tempted to shave down a genestealer skull into the base for him to stand on.
Dysartes wrote:Sounds like a Genestealer Magus out of either the Necromancer or Chaos Sorceror Lord.....
Spot on Dysartes, I'll be using the Necromancer for the conversion.
Doh! It seems that great minds think alike an all that; mine's more a hybrid though. I sacrificed a Space Hulk stealer to this project... so it better work out
I just need to work out what to do with his right arm and staff as it's far too frail to be a hybrid arm. Once that's sorted I can move onto the greenstuff stage and bulk out his back a bit and make the robes to cover the tail and third arm. The other wizard still hasn't arrived, so the inquisitor is running a bit late
endtransmission wrote:

Oooo, that could be a bit awkward if you meet in person.
Endtransmission: "So heres my prized Genestealer converion"
GiraffeX: "No that's mine"
Endtransmission: "hang on theres two of them, what colour was your again?"
All jokes aside when I bought my necromancer on Saturday and explained to the manager what it was for, he said "Oh cool, what are you doing? Genestealer Magus?"
Coincidence? I think not! Which one of you works at GW Lakeside?
Finally bought my sorcerer today and this is what I have until now. If you want to see more of the army he's going to belong to, check my blog! I will be posting in both thread when I work on the sorcerer.
I will model a burning eye out of that ball in his hand and I will add some details to the scythe next. Not sure about the head though...
What do you think about the base? I certainly had my fun with it ...I did ruin the base a bit though as I melted it some... u.u
That looks amazing! I particularly like the base actually - what did you make it from? Nice angle on the photo too: totally looks like the sphere is suspended. Nice all round!
++ "Heads up!" Weiss straightened his back, puffed out his chest and cradled his autogun infront of him. He had his business-face on. Dregg slid from the crate, drained the last of his Wildsnake and threw the bottle into the rubble behind him "wa'sup?".
In the gloom something was shuffling towards them. The gangers stood side by side blocking the entrance to the hideout as the shape moved slowly closer.
Dregg took a flashlight from his pouch and clicked it on. The lense shone dimly then faded to a useless yellow glow. He shook it but the powercell was almost dead. "Feth!" back in the pouch it went and he drew his pistol, hoping there was enough juice left in that instead.
Itchy trigger fingers and straining senses as the shape picked it's way across the waste littered ground until eventually it reached the circle of light near the hideout entrance.
"Oh you're kiddin' me, it's just that crazy old scuzzer again" Weiss felt like putting a couple of slugs in him just to save the hassle of having to hear his nasally voice but ammo was scarce these days "What you want this time vermin?"
The old man shuffled further, his toothless smile greeting the two gangers. "Don't shoot, don't shoot my dears, it's only me again. Trade, trade, care to do a little business?"
Dregg rolled his eyes and went to turn away, he was sure there was another bottle back there somewhere. Then he stopped... The old man wasn't alone.
"Come come my dear, let the gentlemen get a look at you" the old bundle of rags beckoned the figure behind him and into the circle stepped a young boy.
"Strong, reasonably healthy, most of his own teeth, show 'em your teeth lad" the boy gave his well practiced grimace, something he hadn't done for real for some time.
"We have enough juves thanks" sneered Dregg "not interested."
"Only 20 creds, born to fetch, carry and can hold his own in a scrap..."
"We recruit from our own sources, not interested."
"18 creds any lower I'd have to start chopping bits off him."
"Get lost scummer, take your scabby orphan with you, not int......" Dregg noticed something small and many legged scurry amongst the rubble beside the old man. He focused on it as it crossed a rusty yellow and black sign that bore the word WARNING!
A shudder ran up his spine, this just didn't feel right. The old ragbag had kept his left side towards them all the time, his right cloaked in darkness. The boy too had remained a little too calm at being sold to strangers, his hands smartly tucked behind his back. Only now did he realise they both wore red tokens of a scowling face.
Distracted, he hadn't even noticed there were more shapes beyond the circle of light. Many more shapes that crept forward weapons raised. ++
Made a start on the necro. Shaved off some of his eyebrows to get rid of the scowl and changed the angle of his head. The rest is just tacked together at the moment. I'll stick some progress pics and some more info soon.
@notprop: thanks the head is from the plastic daemonettes, it's one of the hairless, I cut of the earring.
@scarper: thanks a lot. I cut out some pieces of plasticard, glued them on and heated the outer parts by holding them over a candle. I used my clippers to bend them.
@Rabies: nice writeup, you got any picture or scetch of what your planning??
It wasn’t as though he had prayed for it, but now that he had it he was going to use it. Just imagine! A talented amtridextrous writer! So much more he could chronicle, so much more material to document...
Not so much background as other people have done, but I think the idea still gets across.
Kaesar II out, until I actually get to one of the models. Maybe a week or even less?
Just an update - no fluff, felt far too lazy to write last night.
Did some work with green stuff....now just waiting for the last bits to come through the post so I can finish this all off and get to the basing and painting bit.
Might add more to that tassle of hair later tonight. Or wait and see what the postman brings me today
@tipios Nightlord is looking good, I love those wings, they seem the perfect size - like he could actually use them to glide about.
@DarkStarSabre Nice work on the Eldar, something I never expected to see come from the Necro.
@endtransmission Definately worth sacrificing the model for.
@SnakeByte That base is fantastic and I think the head looks great too. Most of all I love the shape of the scythe.
Early days still but you can kind of see where I'm heading with this:
Blu-tack ahoy! I'm going to do a bit more on the mutations today, start by removing the feet parts. I was surprised how little of him there is without his arms on but it makes things easier for me, yay!
Well I changed my mind so we wouldn’t have two Genstealer conversions running around.
My story still stands but I'm going to instead bring the creature from the dark, once thought to be of Xenos origin it was in fact a demonic entity of Slannesh.
A step by step guide on how a dirty hunched over old man turns into a futuristic Daemonette of Slannesh.
The unpainted warriors of chaos look on in fear to the operating table of the gods.
The transformation has begun
The surgeon’s pins are all in place, bringing life back to the old man. His prayers to Slannesh of infinite youth have been granted, just not how he had imagined it.
It's going to take him a while to get used to his new body.
Next stop will be to tidy the GS up and then paint the young lady...err man..errr demon of misguided desires.
Will try and buy mine tomorrow. Seeing as no one has done it yet (Thus anyone that does it henceforth is a rip-off) my sorceress will be pregnant. Showing about 8 1/2 months. Thought it would be nice and twisted, will probably need to come up with some fluff to explain myself lol....
Not really sure what I'm going to do with them. For the necromancer, a preacher or possibly a marine of some sort, although that might be a stretch. For the dark elf, probably either a death cult assassin or a crazy repentia. We'll see.
@GiraffeX : 'His prayers to Slannesh of infinite youth have been granted, just not how he had imagined it. It's going to take him a while to get used to his new body.' made me laugh. Nice converting too I especially like the running leg.
Tiny bit more done on mine, mostly green stuff from here on. Eventually this guy and the boy from the fluff will be on a scenic base but removable to show the necro alone for this contest.
Dysartes wrote:Huzzah! Finally got my pre-order dispatch notification.....
Yeah. They changed it like WD - if you have a subscription or pre-order you will get it the week after release unless you have it shipped to the local store, then you can pick it up on the day of release.
Pretty lousy idea if you ask me. Put me off getting a WD subscription and pre-orders are a bit meh now.
If their plan is to get people to go to the GW stores I think it's not going to work out, it's just pissing off customers and makes them buy via other shops. The first ones to get their wizards were the guys who ordered it from other retailers.
True enough but GW are cracking down hard on that too. Local retailer near me has two court cases over selling things early - one from GW, one from WoTC or so we've heard from them.
I'm just glad my local gaming club's opening up a store as well and they're reliable folks too!
DarkStarSabre wrote:Yeah. They changed it like WD - if you have a subscription or pre-order you will get it the week after release unless you have it shipped to the local store, then you can pick it up on the day of release.
Except I ordered it from Maelstrom, not from GW themselves.....
...That's even more ackworthy. Not sure if anyone else had issues with them? But back on topic!
Any further progress chaps?
There may be temporary pause until I get my last bits (hopefully by Saturday!) to allow me to get my 500 points of Dark Elves done for next Thursday as well for a local Tale of Many Painters.
I will confess the new plastics have so much crisp, fine detail on them. The Sorceress isn't bad herself....
I still need to make a base, which I have no idea what to do yet:( Then I need to learn how to blend, feather, and all that jazz so I can paint this chap nicely.
Love the look of your Necro, Rabies. It works incredibly well with the story! Looking forward to seeing your boy and the display base - will the gangers be on it too?
I also worked a bit more on my sorcerer. Added GS for the wings and started the burning eye. I am not really satisfied with the backpart though...
Will need to work a bit on the scythe next. Wings need some filing and filling but the basic shape is somwhat how I want it to be.
Now that I look at it I have to admit that I actually like the head just as it is... might even even leave it like that.
The base is just "borrowed" I am correcting mistakes on the original one. Sorry for the blurry pictures, it's pretty dark here already...
I would love to join this is its acceptable. I will be starting next thursday which I know is almost two weeks after launch but that is okay. I want to make an astropath for my IG force so will probably go that route.
Parts should be here on monday due to a lack of stock (the extra parts not the elf itself), so Tau-ification should begin shortly after that.
LED's arrived yesterday as did the green stuff.
@DasFluspferd Fantastic work , you have upgraded upon the gw mini by a long stretch , great immagination to come up with that model from the stock mini. My favourite conversion so far.
Seems like tzeentch to nurgle is the new black (or something)... Anyway, here's the WIP of my 'fly/wasplord' Nurgle Chaos Lord... Lord Tsetse of the Legion of Rust
Rough outline...

Oh wow These are all looking great here's my humble go....
His name is Susarro of Davin and he's based on the pictures of members of the Davinite Warrior Priests. This mean't adding lots of bony spikes a hand flamery gun, sculpting the staff slightly to depict the eye of horus and using the Karyl Kartan head. Hope you like him.
I'm not really familiar with the fluff you mentioned, but I love the model! The eye on the staff is a fantastic touch. Normally I'd say his neck looked a little awkward (maybe too long or thin?), but I think it suits with the whole mutant / demon vibe going on. The base looks like it has a lot of potential, and the head fits great with the model. Great work
Finally got the last bit I needed after a long trek to the post office on Saturday morning. There will be fluff to follow but I'm quite happy with how he looks. Need to tidy up the shoulder pads a bit but other than that he's good to go unless I decide to try and sculpt a bit more...
Scarper it's the group which inducted Horus into Chaos just before the heresy. The neck is very deliberate all the illustrations have these rings around their necks. The pictures come from the Horus Heresy art books.
Broken homes. Bones scattered, of his own kin and the alien alike. He walked in the dead garden, in the dead silence and he shook his head. Perhaps if they had turned their gifts, their sight to something other than their own vanity they would have seen this coming. And now, for that price they were forced to conscript their dead for every petty thing. Every pointless skirmish, every meaningless dispute. Time and again they dishonoured their dead by forcing them to march in lifeless shells that held nothing to the beauty they may have had in life.
He looks to the sky and screams, bitter, angry, full of hate despite the path he had chosen. And he kneels down, running tired old hands across those sun bleached bones. He would remember. He would remember them all. He would remember all the horrors, all the pain and all the shame. He picks one skull up and grasps it carefully, running worn fingertips over the ridges of the eye sockets. This was a living being once. He remember their smile. He remembered their face.
He remembered her love.
He was possessed. Distraught, torn by the memory as he took the skull and carefully tied it with a thread of silk. He would carry his memories with him. All of them. He scrabbled in the dust, gathering the bones, tying them for several hours until a few hours later he heard footsteps.
@Llamahead- I know what you're talking about, but I've never seen any references of them. Your version, however, is... wow. I really like it, seeing as how I'm using the same mini (high five!!) for my own conversion.
@DarkStar- I take it back. You did find out how to turn him Eldar... Great conversion and fluff to go with him!
@Hyenajoe- Holy . Very inspired... VERY nicely done.
@Vitruvian XVII: Thanks! In fact this power pack is a miscasted CSM backpack. It came with this odd shape and I initially kept it for a nurgle conversion of some kind, but I thought it would look great for this one (I'm glad to see I was right! )
Finally my parts arrived, so I started to hack n slash at them and thought I'd post a working pic.
bad lighting and even worse "I just stuck my thumb in two hours worth of GS work" sculpting. I need to restart on the torso now that I flattened it completely, oh well
at least this way the end result will be surprising.
oh and fluff hmm where is it ah yes word pad...
Spoiler:
Shas’O Rila
Rila’s worth has been tested and proven for the greater good time and again over many a season against many a foe, whether they be the merciless horde of the green skins,
the stalwart grit of the imperium of man or even the endless tide of the Tyranid fleets she always emerged the victor.
Still war never ends; it never changes and never fades far from the view of a true fire cast soldier. It can be found without trouble or trial and It is within the throes of these
fierce battles as her metal skin reverberates from cannon and shell glancing off her ceramite bosom; sending waves of electrical impulses down her steely spine, through her
plas-steel body as her XV-8H high mobility battle suits systems channel these sensations, these impulses into her neural link.
She swears she can feel it…
Truth be told her friends and family among the cast would often tease “were you to caress the hard metal shell she would blush, scrape it and she would cry”.
One with the machine…
With a thought she could soar into the sky as free as any Vespid on the wind and with a frown? With a frown she could unleash the searing plasma that roared and raged
kept caged within her arms reducing foe to ash, turning cowards on their heels.
When Shas’O Rila and suit are joined only the light of the greater good may shine brighter.
@ fastrethanlight that is a great conversion mate, excellent green stuffing , and clever use of that body.
@Llamahead that head is super , i had to google it just to see where it came from . good choice for that model.
@Darkstarsabre I see you have made use of that back piece and found another one too. the hair draping down the helmet is a real nice way to break up the height of that helmet mate.
@Hyenajoe Beautiful work , and nice original idea, screams dark mechanicus Heretek to me. the sack are a good idea too.
@Yggs good luck finding the right bits mate , should force you to be resoucefull i imagine.
Not quite done yet, more detail to be added and the base to be finished but here's a pic on how my Tau's coming along.
I actually still have bits to add to it but I get Green blind when working wiht so much grennstuff, so I painted it to see how it looks. Mostly it's a belt and icons
still to come so it wont effect what I have already added colour too.
I picked mine up earlier today. I was originally going to make an Inquisitor but instead I made this. I think I will play it as an Imperial Guard Psyker or a Space Marine Librarian. Now I can’t wait to paint it up.
Sure I just added the belt and took a more front on shot, now as I've said still heaps to do smoothing and a bit more detail and the base but I'm getting there.
Wow the Female Tau's great and I'm really liking the Tech Priest. The psykers nice & clean as well. Neil 101 the odd thing is I didn't like the head much on the original model. It just dosn't fit as a Tech Priest it's far too chaotic on this guy however it blends in nicely.....
hi, im wondering if it is too late to enter this comp? the models are only getting to me on the 31st of July, and i planned to order one to make into 40k anyway, so is it still possible to enter?
Obsidian Raven wrote:hi, im wondering if it is too late to enter this comp? the models are only getting to me on the 31st of July, and i planned to order one to make into 40k anyway, so is it still possible to enter?
I just picked up the model for mine yesterday, so at least I have it now . Probably won't get to it for about a month, though, as I finish painting up my fantasy WoC army before beginning to build/paint my Dark Eldar. So I am going to try to squeak it in right before the September 3rd deadline!
I started painting something I could enter and then saw this competition, is it still acceptable for me to post it up, or are WIP mid-conversion shots a requirement?
Hyenajoe wrote:Here's my contribution: Ulysseus Lotos, Heretek and Magos of the Dark Mechanicus
That's my fav so far.
Where is the axe from?
The axe is a 2nd edition CSM power axe filed to look a little more mechanicus.
Thank you all for your comments. Do you guys think I should go for cables and tubes to improve it? Or should I avoid to end with something messy and go for an easier symbolic work?
@Santobell: I really like your job, it's original and the realisation is very good!
It has developed somewhat from my original plan (which was to be a homage to the Chainsaw Wizard miniature form the late 80's) to an Imperial Priest dishing out rightious fury on Xenos and heretics alike with a big fething sword.
Positioning and basic structure is all done and I am starting to fill out the limbs; head and cloak to follow. The evisorator is huge (even after cutting it down!), never been a fan of GWs insistance on big gunz and swordz but I am quite liking where this was heading, we'll see if it works.
Inspired by others I also offer my own hackneyed peice of background fluff.
Spoiler:
Luther laughed, for so long he had bemoaned his decision to retire from the guard to this desolate rock, now there was a call to arms he was shaking like a green cadet. After nearly 30 years, naye lucky years on the front line he had longed for peaceful solitude to contemplate the gifts of the God-Emperor and to minister his word to those that needed it.
When the Lord-General had disbanded the Urson 325th Headsmen he had wept tears of joy to be given to opportunity to settle Leninor IV. Seeking a quite life he had found himself amongst the miners in the Zaychev steppes about as far away from civilisation as it was possible to be.
He sat there cleaning his old service pistol and he wished he wasn’t so isolated now. The instant things begun the townspeople and the miners sought his council. Initially he thought that it was right and good that they had done this, who would be better placed than a priest of Him-on-Earth to guide the people in troubled times. But that was when it started, no one had missed the odd servitor that went missing in the tunnels but when miners started seeing walking corpses, the old temple filled.
Now they no longer came for just comforting words and prayer; no they now sought a leader to investigate "the cursed" as the scared townsfolk would call these happenings. With no imediate outside assistance the local magister had lead the delegation, “who better to lead than a veteran guard champion, a Headsman no less” he had said ignoring his own responsibility.
He slammed the charge pack home. Luther laughed again, in retrospect maybe he had put a little to much emphasis in his sermons about the need for the people to fight the good fight, the war stories had caught their imagination but now it was dragging him away from the peace he cherished.
He looked at the Urson made reliquary on the alter. It was six feet long and filled only with death.
He walked over, sighed and then opened it. The smell of blessed oil filled his nostrils, he chanted the ritual of activation and hefted the sword from its resting place. Even with his augmented arm it was difficult to lift it to eye level. He took in the sight of it. Seven years since he had last held it, it had lost none of its air of danger or lustre.
He touched the second covert on the hafts Aquila. There was a low hum, then the suspensor kicked-in and the sword immediately balanced in his hand, its weight dissipating.
A sweep of the blade about his head and then he held the sword to his face and whispered another prayer, then he thumbed the stud on the grip. The sword burst into life, an azure glow enveloped the blade and the teethed edge sped up until it dissolved out of sight.
He joined the gathered party. “Come Magister; let us see what these metal skeletons are all about”
Luther laughed to himself, he would know peace again soon enough but first the sword told him there must be death.
Awesome awesome awesome, notprop! I'm really intrigued as to see where you go with this - at the moment, I would say that his right arm is perhaps a little long, but it's always hard to guage proportion on a wire skeleton. Are you going to be using the original necro head? He looks ace
That arm does look a little freaky, but looks okay enough in person.
I decided to use as much of the original as possible and this included the right arm, but it was a bit too thin to drill too much into so has meant retaing some of the arm too. Should be okay whan the cloak is filled back in.
I plan to reuse the head as well but the curved spine and neck make placement difficult so we will see.
Hey notprop, that's a nice Priest you're going to have!!! I like the idea very much, even more so since I had 'planned' to use the Necromancer model, but couldn't find any way to convert it properly...
So congratulations to you! It's going to be awesome!
I think I've made enough progress to show it here... though I still ain't sure about the "back" part of my Inquisitor...
For now, let's say it's going to be like this :
I don't know why, but I am seeing that model as a "she"... Would it seem weird to you?
Wow you guys are amazing. Im a brand new player, i don't feel mine would be up to the level of some of these conversions
I have an idea... but wow... its so basic compared to you guys...
Still, not gonna throw in the towel that never gets you anywhere in life.
My plan is a slaaneshi chosen (to lead my chosen squad) out of the tzeentch sorcerrer. He is on his way to me now. hes getting released on the 31st, so ill likely get it on the 4th, then get right to converting.
My favorite so far has to be between hyenajoe's and Santobell's
@ Obsidian Raven : Don't worry mate, the "new" hobbyists often come with plenty of good ideas, that the "grizzled veteran" ones, wouldn't even think of!!! That's what's nice with creativity!!!
Plus, you're not betting your life here : that's just a friendly contest!
So don't ask yourself questions, just join in the fun!
Yggdrasil, thank you for the compliment. Nice to see more loyalists popping up, seeing this and other conversions of that chaos sorcerer are really making me like the model a whole lot more. [must resist buying more minis]
Can I ask what was wrong with the back? A picture perhaps?
To Obsidian Raven - that's the attitude. I look forward to your submission.
As for me, well I'm afraid that all of this attention has made Luther a bit self concious and in a fit of self-loathing has gone under the Mad-doc's knife for an arm-ectomy. Fear not Dakkanauts he will be back to slaying Xenos by morning with his now matching arms. The Emperor protects.
@Notprop: Yours might become my favorite conversion of both threads so far (the other candidate is Scarper's, strange...both necromancer conversions). The pose is very dynamic and the fragile physique of the necromancer is being contrasted very nicely by the bulk of the weapon. I can't wait to see more of his grimdark madness.

At first I had thought of giving him an ammo backpack with a wyrdling mutant, see pic below :
It was looking a bit weird, and a bit too comical for the original intent... So instead gave him a shotgun in a holster. Looks a bit more like a veteran, IMHO...
prototype_X wrote:@yggs where is the scroll from?
The scroll is taken from the Skaven Plague Monks kit... The arm is a bit "claw-y", but it doesn't show that much (and can be explained by a minor mutation )
Lots of bits are interesting in every sprue, it's sometimes hard to think out of the box, that's why it takes me so long for 1 mini lol!!
Two small points of (hopefully constructive) criticism, Notprop:
The arm doesn't look anatomicly right. I know it's not the easiest thing to sculpt, but maybe you can find a workaround by adding armor or even better some augmentation, like a suspension brace for his right arm, that would also justify the size of the weapon to any doubter.
The second thing is the hair, it defies gravity. The strains of hair point the wrong direction. It's nitpicky, I know, it just caught my eye. Btw have you considered using a different head? I'm thinking of the empire flagellant heads right now, most prominently the ones with the blindfolded eyes/empty eyesockets.
This is what I've been working on for the contest, it's a conversion of one of the new Tzeentch sorcerers, converted to be a Magus for my Genestealer cult (link to which is in my sig, shameless self promotion).
Sorry I haven't been able to post a modelling in progress shot, I only saw this log after I started painting!

Otherwise nice Job, I'm waiting for more.
Cheers, this is all fair comment.
The arm is just the first coat of GS. I intend to fill it out to a finish in a future stage along with the cloak.
You are definitely right about the head. I changed the stooped neck which wouldn't allow a head to look over the right shoulder for a more up right one. I plonked the necro head on for the benefit of the photo, bit its not stuck on. I want to use as much original miniature as possible so I think that I will probably use the necro head but he will deffo be getting a new doo, maybe a beard too?
Wow, so many great ideas and different themes. I meant to say it sooner but thanks to Baiyuan and PDH for the original concept and Panic for opening it up to the rest of us, I find myself constantly checking the 2 threads for updates.
I've done most of the green stuff on my scavvy boss now, it's a little rough but I haven't had as much time as I'd like (probably due to the thread lurking I mentioned ) but I'm happy enough. A few more touch-ups and then it's on to painting.
Sorry the pictures are a little dark, it came over cloudy as soon as the camera was charged. There's a bit of super-glue frosting and white paint where I flattened the GS on my computer desk and it wouldn't come off! Fingers crossed paint should bring everything together.

Oh, you're more than welcome! The idea turned out even better than Peter and I originally imagined, thanks to all the creative minds taking part in the realization of it. There will be an insane amount of miniature goodness before this is over!
Your conversion is very cool, close to the original but with lots of great details to set it apart.

Though I could hazard a guess and wonder if possible Arbites from those teaser pictures with a hound of sorts. Of course I could be wildly off the mark. That's the joy of these sorts of things.

It's 9:33 am and I'm at work. I'm allowed to forget things
Wow, great WIPs, guys! It's giving me inspiration to get started on mine... and lord knows I need it, I haven't built a 40k miniature in ages (being primarily a fantasy player).
Please excuse the shonky photos. The batteries have gone in my main camera after a trip to the zoo last week and I still need to recharge them.
As for the work on my Hybrid... it's not going very quickly as we had a visit form the inlaws, which meant everything had to be packed away for a while.
In better news, my sorcerer *finally* turned up last week. So much for pre-ordering!
Ahem. Anyway. This morning saw a lot of mad cutting and sticking to make the inquisitor I had in my head since first seeing the model. Hopefully it's not too close to what others have done... if it is... sorry! I've still got greenstuff to do around the edges to neaten up the cloak and arms. Other than that, all that's left is to construct a psychic hood and a shoulder mounted psycannon
He's significantly more puritanical than Yggs. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if he's hunting her down for being too extreme
Excellent entries here guys. I especially like Yggdrasil's and Endtransmissions inquisitors and WaaaaghLord's magus and Hyenajoe's heretek are excellent as well.
Thanks guys. Yggs has definitely set the benchmark for the Inquisitors
I wish I'd not stuck on some of the little bits this morning as I"ve just spotted a few bits that I should have changed. doh!
I'll have to see if I can greenstuff around them!
So yeah, after 3 weeks and one support ticket later, my order from Wayland Games finally arrived. It seems they forgot about me for two weeks - after I sent them the ticket, they shipped the package in five days. Not really what you'd call a pre-order but still.
Started converting my Sorceress yesterday evening to become yet another inquisitor, this is what I started with -
- and this is where I am right now. More images in my gallery.
I'm up for this. However I'm gonna set myself a bit of a challenge, the model I make has to fit into one of my armies.
Now I play 40k Orks and Fantasy Ogres.
I'm thinking a Weirdboy.
I'll buy mine on Friday as that's when I'm next paid.

Wow, I feel honoured, thank you! I considered using a power armour body, but felt that it was a bit too bulky for my liking... but yours has made me rethink that. It's looking great. I take it all the greenstuff on the legs is to bulk them out a bit to fit the torso? Where did the book come from btw?

Thanks, that's kind of the pose I was aiming for... so I'm glad it worked! The staff is from the power armoured grey knights box
Thanks. The book is from the Grey Knight terminator kit - a treasure trove for Inquisitoral flavor. The GS is there to bulk him up a little, but mostly just to provide a smooth and strong bond to the torso.
@Endtransmission: Wow, my favorite inquisitor of the competition so far. Only point I don't like is the ribbon around his staff, it looks too stiff and isn't very credible if you ask me.

yeah, I've updated the first post, and we are up to 60 contenders! Everything so far is awesome and we are only half way through... which also means only 1 month to go so I think we'll see things start to pick up pace.
Ok So I found time today to get proper started on my Entry! Huzzzzzah! She's a counts as 'Decapitator' for my Female only Dark Eldar Army Her Back story will be that of a powerful Haemonculus who got bored of 'standard' upgrades and started down the path of grafting weirder creature parts to herself. But after she successfully attached a mandrakes arm her life was changed, as the arm began to take over she got sucked into the secret world of the mandrakes...
I've got plenty to fix. But I dare not do more today as alot of the greenstuff is pretty soft.
The left hand will have mandrake type flames modeled on to re-enforce mandrake theme. I'm not totally sold on her head, but the flowing hair may make more sense once the flames are done.
I've played around with adding the original right arm just to get it into the conversion, but I'm pretty happy with her right hand side as is.
Just very excited to finally be in the competition!
Great conversion Panic! When's the deadline again? (ADIT: in a month, cool!) I feel the contest needs some deadlines soon to get everyone active and into painting things
Hmm, Panic, seeing yours is making me rethink mine. I DO need a Haemonculus for my DE, And im avoiding Finecast models till they iron all the bugs out (literally, the first time i ever saw even a box of finecast models in person was today)
I honestly did not think of making a DE model out of one of these guys.
mind if i yoink your idea and change paths with my entry? (i dont even have the sorcerer yet XD)
Wow, endtransmission, you Inq. is outstanding!! I love that head, it's been sitting on my desk for a few months by now but couldn't manage to know what to do with it...
It would've been better than my servo skull face, I'm afraid...
Panic, I love your DE... Haemon-thing... Where does the right arm come from? It might be useful for chaos-corrrupted apothecaries mmmmmh...
After Baiyuan's comment I took a longer, careful look at the long ribbon/scroll on the staff and he's right. It looks out of place with the rest of the model... so it's gone.
Painting has started and he's looking rather nice. Does this make me the first person in either competition to actually start painting?
yeah,
that right arm is from a talos.
the talos kit is very amazing... I think the main bits of mine are destined for nurgleBlightDroneHood.
But there is sooo much spine/arms/vessels/stuff in there!
I think Santobell was first to show paint with the Tau chick! she look pretty much done! right?
I still haven't gotten my wizard yet, but I might have an idea of what to do, provided I can split the talos kit with Yggs But seriously, I'm thinking that I need a haemonculus, maybe even with a liquifier gun!
Very cool, with one little exception, the staff doesn't do the rest of the great looking miniature any justice. Imho it looks just like what it actually is, a chaos sorcerers staff with a cog tacked on. No offense mate, but the rest of your conversion is too good for such simplicity if you ask me.
Yeah.. how did I miss that? .. must be the modelling speed-blindness.. Thanks for pointing it out, I want critique, that's why I post here after all.. I'll look into that staff.
@STC_LogicEngine : agreed, such a fabulous model deserves a better staff top!
Eventually tried to improve the skull face, despite common sense. I think this will be the last touch up before painting (other than the base, of course) :
[edit : I'm really amazed at the creativity of people, and at how far they burrow into unexpected bits to turn a base model into that many creations! That's really epic! And so many good ideas for future inspirations! So thanks guys!]
I quite liked the skull face as was - I don't think not being satisfied with something is going to work with covering some of it, or? It's going to be a lovely model, I am sure, just more as a comment to consider as you yourself may not be pleased with the end result. It has happened to me a few times, and ripping the head/arm/legg of completely was always the best cure, rather than modifying.
