Supposedly the August issue of White Dwarf is on shelves but I've been to 3 stores and no one has it. Two stores say that their distributor didn't send them any. If anyone has it would you be kind enough to post the new Sisters of Battle 'codex' info that'd be awesome

This isn't really news or rumours.
Any Sisters info is over in the Sisters of Battle rumour thread.
Wd is certainly out; even the subscriptions have arrived and they are being sent out late these days. Sadly.

GW US has WD #280 as "No Longer Available". I'm not going to get an answer until Monday(I want those dang Terrorgeist rules)--but I'm trying to figure out why. My LGSes do not have it either.

My local gaming store put them on the shelf during a 40k tourney, and promptly sold out and had people trying to order more but according to his distributor there is no more and no more are being printed

Games Workshop will have noted how quickly this edition has sold out. An army they previously believed lacked grass-roots support and must have considered 'squatting' from time to time, despite its popularity in written fiction, finally gets its first update in years and - for the first time in years - the magazine flies off shelves!
Yes sir, Vampire Counts are a shoe-in for a full relaunch in a couple of years.

1.) Today is the first official release day for WD in GW stores and selected FLGS.
2.) Newspaper stores will get it next week, as will subscribers.
3.) Indeed the US GW website lists the current WD as no longer available. So either go to a newspaper store next week or order the British issue (British English is not that different fro US English )

Anyone else notice the Warhammer FAQ they slipped into this months WD on pg 15?
It amends the Power Scroll arcane item. The Power Scroll will now half the casting value of a spell instead of causing a spell to be cast with irrestible force on any double. It's labeled offical, yet it is not currently in the Warhammer FAQ on GW's website.

If a MOD thinks it best, please feel free to remove this post. Especially if I'm gonna have GW branded assassins bursting through my door any time soon...
Terrorgeist: points around midway between a Hydra and a Treeman; a little closer to the Hydra
M - 6
WS - 3
BS - 0
S - 5
T - 6
W - 6
I - 3
A - 4
LD - 4
Special rules - Death Shriek, Fly, Large target, Regenerate 6+, Terror, Undead
Death Shriek = special attack for shooting phase. Can beu sed if marched, charged, or in cc. 8" range, need los. If in cc may target unit in base contact.
Roll 2d6 and add number of remaining wounds. For each point that exceeds targets ld, target suffers 1 wound with no armour save allowed. Magical attack and wounds suffered are distributed as shooting.
Options - infested x pts / rancid maw more pts
Infested = bats explode from tg when slain. When removed as casualty all units in base contact take 3d6 s2 hits.
Rancid maw = poisoned attacks, excluding thunder stomp.
Monster that is a rare choice in VC army or can be taken as mount for a Ghoul King (Vampire lord with ghoulkin vamp power)
SoB info coming soon, may take me a while to get it typed up. That or I'll have taken a bullet in the head from gw assassins. Maybe a MoD if I've broken dakka law...

It's nice that you're doing that Kitch, but Dakka kind of frowns upon just outright posting statlines, points costs, etc.
It's better to err on the side of caution and whatnot.
But good to know that the Terrorgeist is pretty neat. Infested rule is fantastic.

SoB stuff;
Faith points
- generate d6 points at start of movement phase for each turn. Does not carry over
Acts of faith
- Attempted immediately before unit acts in a phase (movement, shooting or assault). To use, roll d6 and add the following:
+1 if led by at least 1 of following
Sister Superior / Retributor Superior / Dominion Superior / Seraphim Superior / Celestian Superior / Mistress of Repentance
+1 if unit has been joined by at least 1 of following
Canoness / Ecclesiarchal Confessor / Saint Celestine / Uriah Jacobus / Arch Confessor Kyrinov
+1 if unit has taken at least 1 casualty
If total less than 5, act of faith fails. Faith point is lost and nothing happens.
Shield of faith - special rule that gives 6+ inv save
Automatically Appended Next Post:

You can artificially create a situation to achieve the desired effect. You can easily achieve "sell out status be reducing the quantity of product that they normally ship to their sites.
I'm skeptical with the sell out action at the GW stores due to their past corporate business practices.

I think the sell out is a matter of demand... this months had a good amount of stuff in it and the FLGS around me had for sale many more copies than they usually do and sold more than they usually do. Whether its a true sell out, a manufacturers sell out, or even just a regional sell out... the point is its selling better than normal. I think GW just printed the same number of issues they normally do, but that FLGS' increased demand pulled supply from their stores. If GW were going to pull shenanigans and create an artificial sell out they'd have done it before.

Even the SoB stuff is pretty mediocre. You'd have to ask a VC player on their stuff-- my guess is, as the star of the show (Sisters being a side show noone who worked on the thing cared about), they'd get more focus and thus better stuff.

Interstingly the Vampire Counts with 3 (or is 4) new profiles have more pages devoted to describing them and their rules than Sisters do which is a whole army. The whole thing feels like an afterthought to jam in the back and the next one will too probably since they will be pushing Ogre Kingdoms which has newmodels to sell.

Or they could make you buy something... You know, like they do with all the rest of the codexes. In this case, the PDF will be available in September or October. For free. OH NOES!
I'm pretty sure you're thinking of a different company if you think GW is going to put their rules in with the minis. Not only is that going to be a pain if the rules change (since the packaging often stays the same and minis stay on shelves), but they haven't done that going back quite some time (if at all).

Speaking of jokes... Thanks for your delightful insight, Slipstream.
Back OT, I felt very good about this White Dwarf. Sure it's a $9 glossy advert, but it is sooo pretty.

You trust GW after they have your money?... most don't trust them before they take it. Personally think its lame that by GW's new policy subscribers are purposefully last people to get their copies.

Dunno depends on your definition. For example, a "douche" could easily be a label given to someone who's socially adept but really fething creepy and smarmy about it.
It's a joke, M. You know, the thing that people laugh at or at least chuckle awkwardly.
Or it could be used in French for taking a shower.

I like playing the straight woman, as it were, in joke situations.

Not sure if that is part of the dictionary... although it is a very long entry... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=douche%20bag

Can we stop the seriously Off Topic stuff in here, and discuss the August WD issue instead?
Thanks!

Yep.
BTW WD is now OOP in Germany as well. And in GW's world, OOP rules for a new miniature are a success to brag about.

I still have a few issues in my store. I'll put 'em up on ebay like those other scumbags entrepreneurs and net me a niiiice profit.

Another subscriber here who has not received a copy. I called and was put on a list of people have not received theirs yet, so who knows when I'll see it. They said they are trying to pull this issue form other stores to fill orders. Thanks for putting your subscribers on the back burner.

I am sure GW didn't print enough copies of WD so they can say "it's a sell out", just like how Microsoft and Sony when they released the 360 and PS3, stores only have 10 copies, so of course they sold out, so it would seem there is a big demand for it.
I am sure WD is the same thing. No way that there is so many issues unbought and all of a sudden nobody can get their issues, espically subscribers?
Come on BS on this one. GW knew subscribers would complain on the internet so again free plublicity for GW and the WD. This was done on purpose, it's not a real Sell Out. It's an artifically made sell out. Automatically Appended Next Post: Kirasu wrote:Ill give credit to GW for last couple of issues.. Maybe in a few months they'll make the SOB rules a PDF on their website for people to download for free.
Yeah, i'm joking, but it would be nice...

Why wouldn't they?
They did it with the BA WD Dex - released it in two parts in WD, and then two months after part 2 they put the whole thing up for download. They also had the Daemonhunters codex on pdf on the site as well.
I'm just going to wait until they post it for download (and am going to expect they will). If they don't, no loss for me either way (and I do have SOB/Witchhunters).

Give it a few weeks, it will be in PDF and available from several sources.

It took GW several months to get the Nightspinner rules up.
So yeah, they'll go up. But the exact timing on that is probably up in the air. GW wants to make the rules available, but they also need to balance the need to encourage people to buy the magazine instead of just waiting for the inevitable free pdf on their website.

I bought the German edition of WD. It should only take me about two months to translate the article.

I bought the issue the day the owner of my FLGS set it on the rack, just because I happened to be there at the time and was bored. I also wanted to see the oh-so-vast improvements they made to the SOBs and Vampire Counts, lol. But from what I could see, there was only the copy I bought and one other on the shelf... could it be that they only sent him like, two or three copies? And he does have a partnership with GW and all, I can't imagine the guy setting only two copies out and keeping another, like, seven behind his desk. I'll have to ask about how getting the magazine works. If my theory is lame, point it out.

Can anyone confirm? I heard this from a local SoB player(whose parents are naturalized immigrants) that had been contacted by players over there he knows for a translation into Japanese(odd situation, I know).

I think my brain will explode long before I finish translating this article...and next month there will be the second part in the next German edition of White Dwarf. I may be the only person in this thread that hopes that the second part is published late.
