Thank you Dr. Temujin as I mentioned the warriors will be up as soon as I get my new desk together. I plan on doing the two ghost arks and one doomsday ark all at once, Build, prime, paint, pull hair out.

Thank you, I will definitely put a sig together for this Work blog. I was wondering, for the scarab swarms, can I model just three on a base? that way I can get more scarab bases together from the warrior sprues.

The weapons are almost complete, then I just gotta pull them off the bases, do the bases, put them back on, and seal them...soon as I buy sealer. Anyway here you go. Comments and criticism welcome.

Interesting what you did with the Warrior squads. When you said no green rods, I thought "So... he's just going to put blue rods on, then?" Personally, I still like the old green rods, but I suppose that's me and not you, necessarily.
*Low whistle* that's alot of toys you have amassed there. My vote is to start up on the Annihilation/Command Barge first.
Keep up the good work!

I agree, however it is not so much an issue to paint them your own color or acquire from another source. However I would have enjoyed having it come straight from games workshop

That’s a fine start to a good army. I look forward to seeing more of your work finished. The pictures make it a little hard to tell, but it looks like you have a good paint job on the Necrons and the basing looks great. I think it’s always a smart move to start out with a 500 point list, and then do your best to not start another project until they are all ready to play.

I do plan on getting a proper light box together to take pictures, as of now I just plan on getting the points done. I plan to start with 500, then increase by 250 increments each time. That way it keeps it small and enjoyable

The base is liberally coated with Foundation: Calthan brown. Then washed, again liberally, 1-2 times with badab black. The highlight is done with Tallarn flesh; drybrushed generously.

Calthan brown
Badab Black
Tallarn flesh

I am excited as well to see how it comes out. It looks like I still have a lot of work to get done on it yet. Good observations and well I can not wait to get a lych/prae box to make some lords I dont have such as Zandrekh and Obyron. Those should make for interesting conversions.

To make sure I didn't go out and revive my 3000 point Necron army from hibernation I made a vow not to buy any new models until a)All my Nids and Dark Eldar are painted, b) GW releases the Doom Scythe and Walker kits.
Here's hoping they don't release those models in February as it's going to make it really tempting to break that vow.

Whoo got to break out my crons for the first time last night in a 500 pt game
Battle Report
Necrons VS. Sisters of Battle
Necron forces:
Overlord
Scythe
orb
10 warriors
immortals with tesla
4x Scarabs
annihilation barge.
Sisters force:
Canonness
2x squad of sisters
flamer
melta
excorcist
(Not sure of all his stuff)
Deployment:
Game is capture and hold on a 4x4 table with table quarters.
Sisters deploy with the excorcist guarding the objective, ugh.
two squads are deployed 12 inches away from the centre one squad on the left, one on the right in his quarter.
Necrons deploy with overlord and 10 warriors starting on my objective. Immortals and anni barge are to the left of the centre on my qaurter, scarabs are placed behind the centre piece of terrain to block los from excorcist.
Turn 1:
Sisters:
They run forward, no real range on anything from the sisters
Exorcist takes a shot at the annihilation barge, miss
Necrons:
Necrons advance...slowly. Anni barge takes a couple shots...Misss. Immortals take a few shots and one sister down.
Scarabs move towards second squad of sisters to get them into assault in the assault phase. Lord and warriors advance to assist scarabs
Anni barge takes a couple shots...Misss. Immortals take a few shots and 1 sister down.
Warrior squad fire at second squad, 3 sisters down.
scarabs assault the sisters 1 sister down.
Necron: 4 Sisters: 0
Turn 2:
Sisters:
Move squad 1 towards immortals, squad 2 stuck in combat. excorcist moves to keep in LOS with anni barge.
Sisters fire on immortals 2 go down.
sisters assault scarabs, 2 wounds on 1 base.
excorcist fires at anni barge and nothing.
Immortals stand up
Necrons:
Immortals move back to keep out of combat from the sisters.
Warriors move to ensure assault next phase.
Annihilation barge moves behind cover from exorcist.
Immortals fire at sisters and another sister down.
Warriors assault sister squad 2 and overlord cuts down 3 sisters.
We remembered that sisters attacked first so we opted to keep the overlord rolls and just put in the sisters for their attacks.
Sisters cut down 4 warriors. they don't stand up ugh
Scarabs finish off the last few sisters, bad rolls for the sisters.
Scarabs consolidate 4 inches towards the excorcist
warriors and lord consolidate 5 inches to intercept other sister squad.
Turn 3:
Sisters:
Sisters move into rapid fire range with immortals. Excorcist moves back to table edge.
Sisters fire at immortals cutting down 2. Canoness fires at immortals nothing. They don't get back up :(
Excorcist fires at Annihilation barge and takes it down. :( anni barge did nothing that game.
Sisters assault immortals and cut down 2. They stand back up canoness strikes and nothing.
Immortal strikes back and takes out a sister. the other 2 stand back up.
Necrons:
Scarabs and warriors+ lord advance towards excorcist. Warriors fire and nothing.
Scarabs assault the excorcist and score two glancing hits, immobilized and weapon destroyed!! armor reduced by 6.
Turn 4:
had to make a choice either go for the draw by taking his objective and hoping the immortal lasts until the end to get a win....or Table the opponent. I chose to table and as it would make for more combat and more interesting dice rolls.
Sisters:
Her squad continues the assault on the immortals. taking down another immortal. Canoness strikes...nothing again.
Immortals strike back to no avail. Another immortal fails his re-roll.
Necrons:
Scarabs double time it back to the fight. along with run and fleet it ensures they make the assault. Warriors+ overlord march back getting close enough to enter assault.
Scarabs, warriors and lord assault sisters strike first and take out a base bringing it down to 3. canoness strikes immortal and nothing again.
warrior, and immortal strike the sisters, reducing the unit to 1 sister. scarabs strip the armor save from the canoness (Yeah!!) all she has left is her 6+ invuln.
Lord strikes down the canoness.
My opponent conceded at this point. so victory for the crons. We did however roll out one last assault phase for giggles. Scarabs strike at the sister. No wounds.....
Overlord strikes at the sister, 2 hits......Rolls good, 2 wounds!!! looks like the sister is going down except for.... oh whats that? 6+ invuln save? yeah good luck. My opponenet picks up his dice.......shakes them gently.....lets them fly onto the table....and..................DOUBLE 6's!!! My head then explodes....
My somewhat shoddy battle report. We forgot a few rules as he and I had not played in a while but we had a lot of fun regardless.

Hey, just popping in to say that i like your necrons, good paint scheme and conversions. As far as the list goes, i can see why you want to take the annihilation barge, and against some armies you will want to leave your list as it is, but you should think about taking it as a command barge sometimes, against the rear armor of vehicles its usually just as deadly and against troops it will do pretty well too.

Post by: Warboss Gutrip
All I would suggest with the list is dropping the rez orb: it won't be of enough use on a 5-man squad to be worthwhile. Maybe invest in semipternal weave and Mindshackle scarabs instead: then the overlord can extend the survivability of the squad by tanking hits with a 2+ save and annoying people in CC.
Love the colour scheme btw

I ended up pairing the lord with the 10 man unit of warriors, did well in the fact I only lost 4 warriors the entire game. I have been dying to try out mindshackle scarabs, though against SOB I just did not see the need as their WS is just as likely for them not to hit themselves, and their strength will keep it from killing anything.
Thank you for the kind words.

edit: oops this was for your 500 pt list ^.^
id make 1 squad of 9 warriors and thatll open up your lord to have mss. well worth it and that way if you want to attach him to a unit a squad of 9 is worthy.
really like you stuff so far though man keep it up!
if it helps ill post a pic of my ghost ark and a cryptek and how i did my metal for the red parts. Perhaps you want to try something similar with your blues to get this metallic feeling color rather than a more flat blue. If not its all good just a suggestion ^^
I added a little bit of biltgun to my base red and colored up from there, then did a blood red/machite/red and mithril silver mix for all the edge highlights of the vehicle to make em shine and pop. The layering of the red was mainly drybrushed in a pattern to give the metal a bit of a swirl feel where its darker red in some areas and brighter in others. Give it a go and maybe youll have a result you like :-) I can take a better pic tonight of my ark and barge if you want to see it a bit better.

Hey, nice take on the Wraiths! So, will we be expecting more of these creations, or some of the official models when (if) they come out?

Destroyer lord
Ms Scarabs
Warscythe

3x Destroteks
Troops
10x Immortals

10x Warriors
Ghost ark

Lych gaurd
SNS

Annihiliation Barge
Plenty of anti-tank, plenty of assault, plenty of anti-troop. Comments and criticism welcome and appreciated!

Appreciated.
WELL I played my first apocalypse game today for the warhammer 40k 25th anniversary and it was ridiculous, 17 players at 1,500 points per player. I got the shaft and was up against 2 grey knight players on my end. One was using Mordrak and ghostknights with a librarian and multiple Dreadnoughts. The highlights of that area was that I managed to redirect a lascannon shot back at the dread that shot it and blew up his Cannon arm. Another moral victory is I killed mordrak's units by combination of shooting and assaulting along with using wraiths to effectively lower initiative and Mind shackling his librarian. Other than that crypteks blew up some dreads and my immortals just would not die.
All in all a lot of fun.

Thanks Cosmic. Well I just made the best purchase ever (In the history of my purchases) I blindly bought a friend of mines necrons for $150. Now to my surprise when I got through the mass death, rez incoming, I found 2x monoliths, 15 x destroyers, 4x heavy destroyers, 80x warriors (Useable anyway) 2x wraiths, 1x lord, and 1x c'tan. (Nightbringe) Now I have not counted all the flayed ones, immortals and pariahs I have eyeing but I must say I think is definitely a steal. What do you guys think?

I really like the conversion work you've done on the Destroyer Lord, and I'm planning on doing something similar with mine. I particularly like the extra spines on the shoulders, and how clean the conversion is. Also, your painting is much cleaner than mine (I'm here to learn, after all). There is something that you need to look at, color balance and contrast. An example where you are using it well is your tesla immortal. The colors you use are repeated throughout the model... green in the guts, green on the end hose on the gun. Blue low in the gun hoses, blue high on the head. The warmth that you create with the corrosion on the shoulders balances the coolness of the blue. They balance. They create harmony. An example where you don't have harmony is the scarab swarms. They are washed out, and they aren't menacing. They really need a darker color (the darker blue, perhaps right around the eye). It doesn't have to be a lot, but the contrast needs to be there. Petty thing here, really... I don't like the white in the eye... to me, a glowing eye is much more menacing. Just my opinion, and like I said... a petty thing. Overall, your skill at painting and converting is impressive and inspiring.

I understand what you are saying about the scarabs though the decision for that is based on diversifying the different units in the game such as the canoptek: scarabs, spyders, wraiths, will somewhat have their own scheme that still ties in with the whole army while the troops have their scheme (Simple base scheme) whilst lets say the elites will have darker shoulder pads and glowing eyes (as an example). The idea is to create a complete composition when looking at the army as a whole. When you look at the vehicle you see a higher concentration of blue and darker shades, when you look at the foot soldiers you see a balanced scheme and when you look at the canoptek you see grey in a brighter more clean scheme. I toyed around with making they eyes glow but I realized I may rip my own hair out trying to do X amount of warriors and immortals with glowing eyes so I am reserving that for Elites and lords. You will see the glowing eyes on my Lychgaurd that I am currently working on. As well I would like to blame the camera and myself for poor picture taking in regards to units looking washed out.

I think 3 and 2 are my favorites. 4 has an interesting pose, never thought Lychguard would try to sweep from above. 5 looks a bit awkward, but maybe that's because of the angle of his shot.
Anywhos, fantastic work as usual.

I really like your scheme - but the Lychguard are particularly nice. It's hard to figure out which parts to paint in the color palette one chooses for one's Necrons. I'm going with a (slightly altered) "Nihilakh Dynasty" scheme ( GW's turquoise and gold scheme, as seen in WD and the codex). Some of the units haven't been shown painted in this scheme, or I am not entirely satisfied with GW's version, so I'm tweaking it slightly. But even then, when GW's already produced a scheme I like, and even been nice enough to publish short pieces on how to paint this scheme, I still am deciding on how to paint some of the more complex figs.
Your Lychguard, though done in a different color scheme of course, are very helpful in this regard. I think I will borrow some of how you've chosen to paint the different parts (the thigh, for example, with the plate, the thigh itself, and then the thin resecessed designs, I think is very effective)
Keep up the good work! I'll be keeping a closer eye on your progress

Thanks cath I saw your crons and I really enjoy how you are coming along with them. I love the lychgaurd more than any unit and I love in this edition how they can be a very effective shock troop to deliver your lord, or obyron right into the thickest battle. Thank you I got one solid haul for christmas that I am going to post up next week or so when the rest of my items arrive. I am on a special character fix atm. I am only missing Zhandrekh and Illuminor Szeras right now, but I can't keep away from my imperial fists so I understand the back and forth nothing gets done sort trouble.

Nice paintscheme!
I really love, and I know this is not entirely up to date, and on topic, but I love what you did with the Necron Warriors Guass Blasters. I think, what with the new Necron update, the clear Green beams don't fit in with the new aesthetic that well. However, the rods you put in really seem to look like they were 'meant' to fit there.
Love the Fallen Necron, crawling along the ground. It reminds me of terminator (Obviously) but also the Walking Dead, with the Bicycle Zombie. All in all, I approve!

Well thank you! I have not liked the green rods since 3rd edition and when looking through the codex I believe there is a flayer with the rod I have in there, to which I got the idea from. The crawling cron is for my Ghost Ark base..... when I decide to paint a ghost ark....someday
