Wow. I thought mine was impressive at 10.8. The weird thing is that according to fedex, the info was received today, the package ships tomorrow and estimated delivery is Tuesday. Umm. 1 Day to go from Nottingham to the US West Coast? Daaamn. No wonder shipping is so much of their costs.

I had FedEx take 2-Days to go from Tokyo, Japan to Daytona beach, FL which always impressed me.
Not...quite? Double strike with all if the booster and lots of terrain. Assuming the terrain is doing the crazy weight bonus tho extra strike probably adds close to 10 pounds.

Good guess. My Strike weighed 9.5 lbs including the extra shipping box.
So then 19 pounds for strike and the other 13 comes from boosters extra mats and battle zones. Lots of goodies... probably too many. Pictures forthcoming asap.
Oh yeah, a full unboxing has always been in the wings... just gotta get it. Will probably get dropped off when I'm at work so I'll have to take it from the fedex place in town instead. Hope it all fits in the car But nah, I've seen the boxes, I can surely get at least a couple in the trunk and one in the back seat... If its more than that we'll just see
Hrm... I'm actually feeling pretty good about it. I know I'll get my stuff soon, not which day yet, but within a week or two (I did get a notice so that may be why). The worst stretch for me was somewhere in the middle. A month or two ago when I finished my pre-deadzone project too early.
My wife is already prewarned. I'll probably have to reiterate and stress when I find out how heavy the package is. But honestly, she is pretty understanding.
Wife knows what I spent, its not like I missed paying any bills or buying any necessities because of it. Still she's a clutterphobe so I'll have to keep things packed away nicely or I'm a goner!
Dunno about just eating rice, but switching to water usually doesn't hurt
Don't get me wrong, I like rice, just hope you've got some other bits for your diet
I didn't end up going on a restrictive diet/walk/bike to work, I just didn't upgrade/replace my PC (probably due) and don't have much in the way of other hobbies to feed.
Gah, I need my Enforcers from Miniatures Market so I can at least sort of participate in this DZ frenzy!
I'm first and foremost a PC Gamer, have been my entire life since my amiga at age ~6. Tabletop has to come second to that... but food and health comes a distant third ; p
I moved my Dreadball stuff to the top of my project list. Have cleaned my Nameless, Zees, Asterians, Teraton and Void Siren teams in the last few days, ready for priming. Will finish painting my Trontek team since they're very simple.... man I love Dreadball. Highly recommend it to anyone interested in mantic, even if you don't think you're interested in sports games - I wasn't, but Dreadball is amazing.
I may pick up a DB set someday. I just have so much coming between Deadzone, Mars Attacks, and Bones 2. At least my battle systems pledge will come and be ready to set up *spoiler for off topic*
Spoiler:
I think I started out with the NES. I did play some of the windows 3.1 games, the mouse-cat one and free ski were great at the time (and I'm not the only one who thinks so, the magicka free-ski yeti tribute/thing was hilarious ).
So yeah, a lot of PC gaming although I'm getting a bit tired of it at the moment. Need an injection of the classics so I'm hoping for BG2EE for xmas
I should *hopefully* have some WP enforcers arriving tomorrow so I can start cranking out my initial enforcer strike team. If I happen to click on a color scheme and miraculously get them done before DZ arrives, I'll have 5/6 of a playable initial team. Looking at doing some conversions early to get them out of the way and ensure I have things to play with now that we won't be getting for awhile so I'm doing:
Converted Enforcer Sarge with energy fist
Converted Enforcer with Fusion gun
rifle enforcer
rifle enforcer
burst laser enforcer
DZ box: Assault enforcer.
Then I'll branch out to the sniper since I think I may end up favoring him as a a leader.
Re. BG2EE... it is very flawed. I'd recommend looking into buying BG1+BG2+ expansions from GOG and getting the mod that combiens them all into 1 seamless game with the BG2 engine that allows high resolutions (ie. 1920x1080) and also mods certain other things to update the interface and gameplay.
You and your already having Warpath minis /jealous. Would like to see your conversions as I'm still fairly new to tabletop and not that good at conversions (or painting) yet, though I'm really trying hard to improve.
Re. More oldschool game nerd speak... So you've tried BG2EE and didn't like it? I have BG:EE and it seems fine, doesn't look ridiculous on my larger monitor and it runs alright. I was considering picking up the GOG versions and patching/modding until I heard EE was coming out for both games. Could you elaborate in what ways it is flawed so i can make a more informed decision? I did notice some seemingly unnecessary additional cutscenes, but is it buggy or something?
I bought the corporation army set back in the first half of the year and have been putting that together up till a month or two ago, I just ordered some warpath enforcers from Miniature Market's excellent black friday sale so I could get a jump start (since some lucky folks are already getting paint down on their Deadzone!) .
My hobby blog (in sig) has all of my work on that. The first half doesn't involve a lot of conversions except for special weapon conversions for the marine teams. Then it gets a bit more interesting (IMO) when I take the rest of the marines and mix them with the mantic zombie/ghoul sprues in my own tribute to their Zombie Apokalypse kitbash set. Hmm that reminds me, now I just need to paint the First gen, second gen, grenade guy, and a dog... add in 5 zombie marines and my initial plague roster is done too Will have to paint the actual 3rd gens.. but that'll get me started early woot.
I've got a piece to finish for Skalk's junk pile contest, but just as soon as that is secured I'll be throwing up my converted enforcers.
Nah I haven't just what I heard... it was in general fairly buggy and problematic, but for reasons I can't remember off hand sorry but shouldn't defintiely check into it befor eyou pick it up. I do have BG1+2 modded into one and it works well - though I haven't finished it yet, too many other games to play.... damn you steam sales! *shakes fist*
Ahh nice, yeah I checked your blog a while ago, I'll paw through it again.
I really need to go through and update the first post with links to all of the meaningful pages. My gallery is probably just as good or better if all you want are pics of the converted stuff too.
Compel, that's an impressive setup, and will look awesome painted up, and that many levels will give you some interesting gameplay as well.
As a general question to anyone who has received theirs (KS or retail), will the terrain that comes in the boxed game be enough for decent games on 1 2x2 board, or should I look at getting an extra battlezone as a priority?
I think it depends if you want all your terrain to consist of "believable" buildings, or if you are happy with the more abstract approach shown in some of Mantic's pics.
Yeah, what Slinky said. I think if you use every last bit of two battlezones you should be good for a standard 2x2 game. Should be able to have a lot of ground level walls and barricades with maybe a tower or two if they're smaller. When you try to make intact buildings is when you will run out of BZs faster, while having less meaningful cover for deadzone. Or when you want to build quite a ways up. And that isn't to say you won't be able to build some buildings, its just one has to be careful with that as they tend to leave less left over for filling up the blank areas around them.
I'm curious to see anyone do "intact" buildings that go along the edge of the mat to allow easy player access. From the middle of the board it would look like a complete settlement or facility, but go around the outside and it's all cut away and accessible, something I'm gonna see about for sure!
Yeah, that's the Deluxe mat at the back and the paper mat at the front.
I think the terrain that comes in the boxes game (1 battlezone, basically, right?) will be rather limited on its own. The two Core World battlezones you get in Strike Team will be perfect.
With my setup, the least useful pieces I had ended up with was most of the stuff from the Landing Pad battlezone. I've still got loads of Landing Struts left over, plus loads and loads of the angled connectors. They really just don't fit anywhere with my build.
The AW workshop stuff is kinda strange, I don't really know what to make of it. - It's going to take quite a lot of work to get it to fit in right, I think. Offhand, I'd just recommend buying more accessory sprues and the like.
I got more sprues. I'm excited to make big crate and barrel piles And stuff from Battle systems, that should mix in well ... although it'll take a bit on that stuff.
I was thinking two battlezones... I forgot people are getting the retail set now. Maybe get another battle zone for that then, yes, the retail version comes stock with an accessory sprue which is always nice
In what way is the AW stuff strange? Too big? Too heavy? Doesn't fit in well? I was thinking it was going to be awesome and was kind of sad to not get any, but you aren't jiving with yours?
Well, it's basically just shaped lumps of resin with detail on 4-5 out of 6 surfaces. That and I'll probably need to go and have a look at how they exactly fit together. - At the moment, it just feels like there's a lot of random shapes.
Thanks for the info, guys, I'll look at getting another battlezone soon then.
I've already thought about using non-complete buildings, leaving out parts that edge onto the board edge should make things go a little further.
I'm also wondering if, for complete building where the layout isn't going to change much, it might be worth trying to scratch-build some stuff. Basic 3x3 cubes shouldn't be too hard, and it might even be possible to mock up and print out some basic wall prints to save time painting.
I have a feeling even my 14 battlezones are going to get thin and stretched eventually, and for anything that is getting glued anyway, plasticard has always been on my mind. Most of these structures seem pretty simple to duplicate too. And floors. Floors are usually plain, I see a lot of floors getting made of plasticard for sure.
That's what I thought when I ordered them all Of course now I'm getting stupid (or awesome) ideas like the Doomcube, and I want a lot of height in my scenery. Kind of like your outpost but with less defined structure and taller towers with walkways.
And the doomcube... I want to see if it's possible to construct a 2'x2'x2' cube out of deadzone tiles (and probably plasticard, and maybe something else to make a solid base for it... depends on stability!). Obviously the thing will be swiss cheese in one way or another, maybe an apartment block with the outside edges missing from everything so its like a couple of doll houses facing eachother with really accessible backs and therefore insides. The outside of the buildings would be connected with walkways, balconies, all kinds of stuff, such that someone falling would probably hit 2-5 things (pending scatter) on his way down... possibly even surviving instead of instasplat
Doomcube alone would probably eat upwards of 8 bzs, given the assumption that 2 battlezones will cover a 2x2 adequately 1-2 cubes high, and I'd need that x 4. This only leaves me 6ish BZs beyond that. Doomcube on the corner of a 4x4 board though. And I've got a battle systems stronghold set coming in to take up another 2x2 with beautiful interior
Oooh and some mars attacks stuff. Then I'm done with scenery forever! FOREVER.
Good deal, that one is over. But yeah, I think I may end up getting some more Battlezones, or some additional battle systems floors/walls or whatever they put up for retail... but for the most part I've got more than enough scenery to keep me busy for years Not to mention all of the models I'll have to paint to make the scenery worth it
Yep ditto on all counts. Will be nice once the battle systems terrain arrives to just throw it on the board and look amazing, not needing to paint it. Big part of why I was willing to go in big, my wall of shame filled with unpainted models wouldn't grow larger. At least Deadzone terrain should mostly be airbrush, so quick to get going. ~200+ Deadzone minis added to the wall of shame however... *cries*
I think I've just knocked out an enforcer scheme that should make that faction go quick. One base color+3-4 washes, and another 2 washes onto the primer for the other color, some fiddly stuff like assault blades or what have you. Most of the time is in drying. And I was already planning to dip my plague. I'm probably in the same 200+ models position but I plan to be optimistic
I've got at least 300, if not closer to 400 Warpath minis, plus all the Deadzone stuff coming. Who wants to paint my Marauders for me?! Also, still salivating at the thought of putting together my Deadzone stuff. The second survey is going to hurt. A lot...I may have to take my wallet out back and put it out of its misery.
No, seriously. It's falling apart. It's just real Italian leather and I'm not sure when any member of my family is going back there and can get me another one. But when it's held together by prayer, it may be time to let it go.
Yep first wave was focused on getting the "basic" set playable. The extra rules needed for all the extra factions and stuff will have the physical copies delivered with wave 2.
Got my kit in last night. I "only" got Strike Force, but boy howdy! I'm definitely dropping some cash on the second survey.
The terrain sprues are excellent. On par with GW's stuff, IMO. I slapped together a Marauder and a Plaugue baggie (the Stage 1, 3x Stage 2s, and 2 doggies,) and while there's some quite a bit of flash/mould lines, it wasn't too bad. Even at just the Strike Force level, there is an Imperial butt-hogshead of minis in here! I took Marauders as the extra starter, so I got a lot of Orcs to paint up. My buddy wanted to go Enforcer, and got mispacked out of several Enforcer minis. :( Fortunately, I have a half-assembled Enforcer Warpath starter, so I can cover him. I still need to sit down and catalouge everything to check for any mispacks on my end, but even as such I'm still digging it. I'm also going over to a FedEx/Kinko's place to laminate and spiral bound my DZ rulebook, just like I used to for GW games.
Is it too late to order more add-ons for wave 2? I split the box with some friends and upon inspection of the contents (my shipment arrived today), I think I'd like to have my own copy of the Rulebook and Compendium.
I expect Mantic will make another million on the second survey. If they make less, I'd be shocked. My second survey is going to end up being more than my first payment (striker and a bunch of enforcer extras).

Yeah, my whole pledge is Strike right now (early bird). I definitely think I'll pick up a bunch more on second survey.

I doubt they will make another million off it. Im sure they will do quite well though.
I'm dropping another $50 in scenery, 3 faction starters (2@$50), marauder booster bundle, another 1st gen, and that puts me at $197 at the moment. I had other things...I hadn't decided if I wanted 3 more mats as well, I'm pretty sure I do. That brings it to $252. Yeah...breaking $500 total.
The final merc cards have been up for download on wargames vault for a few days now. Anyone who has downloaded the DZ rulebook already can just log in there and click on "my library" to get them.
Looking at the beta cards, I'm so glad Wrath had his name changed. :p
Ah I didn't realise, thanks for posting that ScarletSquig.
Can see that a few of the points values have changed, and glad Dr Simmonds has got the 'Tactician' ability as I kind of imagined her as the leader of the Plague team I'm making.
TLR - US and Canadian Battle Foam bags shipped, Deadzone Second Survey launching this week, deadline for missing bits submissions is Friday 31st January and there’s a big progress update coming end of this week.
Good news!
Battle Foam has now shipped all of the Deadzone Carry Bags to any US or Canadian backers who ordered one.
Not only that but the second survey is coming this week, giving you another bite at the cherry. You’ll be able to order extra of most of the range, though certain items such as the T-shirt and the Patch will not be available.
Never fear though, because we’re going to more than make up for that with some groovy new miniatures not previously available, as well as a few deals on things like individual Sorak and Connectors sprues – because y’all asked so nicely for them.
Look for that at the end of the week.
Missing Bits Survey
The 31st January is the deadline for the missing bits survey – if you are missing anything from your Kickstarter package, please fill out this form and let us know before Friday.
Next week we will download the forms and send an email to everyone who has submitted a form to say that we have received it. We will then sort through them and order the necessary stock – please keep an eye on the Kickstarter Updates for all the information as it becomes available.
This will allow us to best manage the process and ensure everyone gets his or her stuff after the crazy Christmas period.
Thank you for your patience.
And finally…
Because the second survey is your last chance to make use of the great Kickstarter offer, we’re going to be posting up a mega progress update so you can see where we’re up to on all things Deadzone related.
It’s promising to be very exciting, and we can’t wait to show you more.
TLDR: stuff you already knew and two teaser pictures, update to follow...probably.
Wonder iif should fill out the missing parts survey for the whole order..
I just hope this sucker closes after I get my stuff. Ma is probably gonna cut it too close for me to put on any dz terrain onto it, hopefully dz closes in April lol.
Hey people, i am the only one really anxious about their plastic stuff? Im really anxious to see what will come from this forge guard sprue, maybe Mantic decide to sell the Forge Guard sprue for the same price as the Peacekeapers?
After receiving the regular package, i dont want anymore restic, except for the extremely needed
They're going to dump all the remaining unseen wip stuff onto us the day they put the second survey up, which I think we can take as iron clad, but getting pictures of final test runs of the hard plastic stuff might take a bit longer, I really hope they get them out there before the survey is due like they've promised
A parts list for the said sprue would made the diference for me. Im really digging it, as they should be really "space marines sized", and are very similar to my view of what "dwarfs in the space" should look. If they give me a nice deal, i would dump the Brokks for more Forge Guards...
I have a small bit of info of relevance to backers:
- Those really nice-looking plague zombie sprue pics in the DZ update? They're not even the final sprue, just an initial test shot.
There are still two passes of milling to go on the mould with much finer drill bits, which will result in the final sprue having much sharper detail than shown in the pics we've seen.

That's good to hear, because they seemed a bit soft still, in my opinion.

Are these the same zombies available on the MA survey?
Ma survey is the kings of war zombies. A goods kit, but the one that's been around for awhie. Makes sense too, as they're regular zombies without spikes or laser rifles. Better suited to the ma zombie scenario and all that.
Still not received my missing bits, but since I got that email sent to everyone who filed a claim at the end of Feb, I at least know my report was received and is on the list somewhere.
